Overpriced, extremely noicy, bad smell from bathroom and worst hotel breakfast ever seen. But Bellagio and the Como Lake are beautiful and definitely worth a holiday!

The hotel staff was very warm, congenial, and helpful. The hotel was in a great place, close to everything. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. The room was good but the bathroom was too small and you could not get hot water early AM. The room key/light setup is crazy since you can't put any lights on in the room without locking the door once inside. Then you had to put the little key in the slot on the wall to turn on any lights. In the evening the room was pitch black and you had to feel the wall to even find the light slot. I would also suggest they supply tissues in the room and get rid of those thin, small towels that are like dish towels and do not absorb anything.

Perfect location at the waterfront. Friendly and serviceminded staff in the reception. We left early in the morning and the hotel provided us with breakfast to go. We really enjoyed our stay in Bellagio.

Excellent location right across from the ferry wharf which was very convenient. The views from the windows are spectacular across the lake. Except for the weather we really enjoyed our 3 days in bellagio.

Very nice hotel, but very noisy, the receptionnist is talking very loudly until 1 a.m., the cleaning women are speaking very strongly each morning at 8 a.m. Except the noise, the hotel is perfect, nice view from the rooms, breakfast a little poor... There is a coffee machine that makes the other customers just crazy... and this was very funny... thank you for the coffee machine... We will come back.

Bellagio was on my "Bucket List" of places to see. It lived up to all my expectations. Hotel Excelsior Splendide was a great location great staff and a large room with a lake view helped to make a most pleasant stay. My friends and I highly recommend this hotel.

Overall quite ok but the quality of the rooms was poor. They were quite old and not quite renovated! The floor was very creaky and noisey, the internet didn't work and they turned the airconditioning off (not self-controlled) as they thought we might be too cold. Wouldn't stay there again as it was too expensive for what you got.

If you like hotels characterised by faded fin-de-siecle grandeur, this is for you: high ceilings; marble staircase; charming, helpful staff; arcane details, such as air-conditioning having to be switched on and off by reception. The position opposite the car-ferry landing stage is very convenient and places the hotel within the lively atmosphere of the town. The rooms at the front have a fine view over the lake, and were spotless and well appointed. The terraced garden behind the hotel is beautifully constructed, but sadly neglected. It was still a lovely setting for a relaxing afternoon, but is greatly in need of the attentions of a good gardener. While the hotel is probably over-priced, it certainly enhanced our enjoyment of Bellagio, and I would certainly recommend it.

A bit oldfashioned hotel nice situated in the very center of Bellagio in front of the carferries and in restricted traffic-zone, only local traffic. Exact what we expected. Competent, but anonymous staff, nice breakfast. One "miss": We stayed two nights and the room wasn´t cleaned up until 1 p.m.

We stayed at the hotel for the first time. Bellagio is a wonderful place with an absolutely beautiful lakeside and magnificent parks. The hotel itself is a bit ancient however with a cosy atmosphere and nice ambiance. The hotels offers few rooms (in the second floor, No. 60 to 62!?) for the same price with view to the backyard which are not recommendable, as these rooms are pretty small and too dark.

We spent one night in this hotel, and all was fine. Rooms are nice. A little swiming pool if freely provided. Welcomming was great. The stay was to short to test many services, but we have to say our impression was good. The only bad point was that the mattresses was too soft, but we slept very well without back pain when awaking.

This was a GREAT hotel! The location is wonderful, the room was spacious, the staff is friendly, the hotel lobby is comfortable. Our only complaint was that the morning coffee (which came out of a machine) was pretty poor. But other than that, this place was GREAT!

We visited the Hotel Excelsior Splendide during our recent trip to Italy. While the property is older, the accomodations were clean, and it was comfortable, especially the air conditioning which worked very well. There is also a small pool that was nice to take a dip in after a day of walking in the heat and humidity, although at least on the days that we used it, it was heavily chlorinated. The breakfast was self serve but good. Our room overlooked the beautiful Lake Como. All was as we expected. It's certainly not the Ritz hotel and flashy, but, quite comfortable, clean, and priced appropriately for a property located in the heart of the touristy Bellagio, Italy.

I wanted to organise a romantic week at Lake Como for my girlfriend. Unfortunately, due to the short notice, this hotel was the only one to be able to offer me a room with lake view. Considering the negative comments which some people had made on this site I was a little bit nervous but there was no need to be – we had a fabulous time! As we had reserved through a web site I called the hotel a few days in advance to check. An English-speaking receptionist confirmed our reservation and said she looked forward to welcoming us. On our arrival we were shown to our room, on the top floor and one of the few rooms with small balcony overlooking the lake. The room itself was spotless, well furnished, air conditioned, decoration in good condition and the view unbelievable. Despite the fact that we had the ferry terminal and the lake front cafes just in front of us noise was never a problem. The only criticism was that the bathroom, while totally functional, was a little small but it allowed us to be very efficient in the morning as we could clean our teeth while sitting on the loo! Some people have criticised the staff at this hotel. We found them charming and helpful. On arrival we only had one pillow each so I folded up the bed cover to put under my pillow. Next day, without asking, I had a second pillow. We asked at reception for some bath gel (we only had soap) but were told that they did not have any. Next day we had sachets of bath gel in the shower. I asked for assistance in organising a special dinner for my girlfriend’s birthday. That evening a bottle of sparkling wine and strawberries were delivered to our room with the hotel’s compliments! This hotel does have two weaknesses: breakfast and parking. Breakfast, while adequate and totally in line with what you might expect from similar 3* hotels elsewhere in Europe, may be disappointing to those used to ‘full English with all the trimmings’. My advice would be to do as we did and eat breakfast in the loc

The hotel was in an excellent spot, although it is an older hotel and not perfectly remodeled but perfectly adequate. We had an outstanding view of the lake. It is a beautiful town!

We loved it here. The hotel had a wonderful "belle epoque" feel to it. We liked the fact it had an air of faded elegance to it. The room was very small but everything else excellent. Possible the dining room could have gone in for some subtle lighting and then we would have probably had dinner there but that is a very small niggle. We hope to return.

Old fashioned style hotel set in a spendid lakeside location in the heart of the small but busy town. Ideal for boat trips up or down the lake. Hotel security very lax. You help yourself to your key from in front of the reception desk. Ours was taken by an absent-minded old lady but staff not helpful in finding it. We eventually found the lady wandering our corrider bemused that she could not get into her room. A walk-in thief would have a field day!

No AC, so we had to keep windows open at all times, and our lake-view room was right outside the ferry dock & main strip, so bright lights & lots of noise at all hours, very hard to sleep. Staff were alternately pleasant and surly. Wi-fi (one of the reasons we picked this place) was down the first two days. When we asked for an adjustment to cover the internet point we had to pay for, they wouldn't even consider it. We would not recommend.
