This hotel in the Hutong is in an excellent location just meters from Tianeman Square and the Qianmen subway stop. The staff was friendly and very helpful in making reservations at the local teahouse, for a driver to The Great Wall and provided rides to and from the airport. They even gave us a chinese cell phone so that if we had problems we could call the hotel for help. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful. The showers were hot. This hotel is not for everyone if you are uncomfortable walking through poor neighborhoods.

This is a really lovely traditional style hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, with modern western style bathrooms. The girls at the front desk were very friendly, helpful and spoke good english - they even gave us a mobile phone to use while we were there. It is literally a 5 minute walk from Tianmen square, situated in the middle of the hutong (lots of confusing little alley ways), which also makes it a bit difficult to get to by car - make sure you take the address writen in Chinese characters and have the phone number in case the taxi driver needs to call for directions. We stayed here the first 3 days of our trip, went off to North Korea for a week and then came back again for another 4 days; they arranged for a car to pick us up at the train station when we returned and upgraded us to a bigger room (which is why in the photos there are 2 rooms).
