This hotel was truly a wonderful experience. the ambiance, medieval charm was enhanced by the hotel staff and they even had created wonderful atmosphere in the public areas with gregorian chating and jazz music, appropriately.

Beautiful old hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. No lift but didn't expect it. So don't take heavy suitcases.

It's wonderful, but it's an abbey: no parking, no lift and rooms are cells! But it's really fabulous....

Very charming hotel! The receptionist was wonderful with us. The breakfast expensive (buffet but very poor). The stairs for the luggage were hard!

L'Abbaye is exactly as described, a lovely old building with the character that this implies, and located right on the bank of the Loire. Our room was spacious, on two levels. The restaurant served excellent food with the unobtrusive level of service that one gets in France. There are a lot of stairs involved, which makes the hotel perhaps unsuitable for those of limited mobility. We did not care for the bathroom carpeting, which is somewhat unhygienic, and would prefer a tiled bathroom.

Stayed on the way to the Pyrenees - arrived far later than planned due to traffic in Paris so unfortunately did not get to sample the restaurant (already closed at 9.30). Breakfast next day was great. Abbey was beautiful; rooms were great although somewhat devoid of pictures.

Entrance was difficult to identify. Room was small and floor was noticably sloping in one direction (unlevel). Room door was difficult to open with old key. Resturant had great view, good service and the meal was excellent.
