Hotel Reviews De Brunville

The receptionist was not professional. He had an attitude. Parking and breakfast is not included in the room rate. The hotel's parking lot was full when we arrived. So, we had to park on the street. Our room faced the courtyard parking lot. We experienced noise. The room was small. However, it was okay for an overnight stop. It's not worth the rate, especially when parking and breakfast is extra.

We had a nice room for 3 that worked very well for us. The hotel is in a great location and it is easy and fun to walk around the town. There was a charge for parking which added to the cost of the room.

A little confusing to find at first but nice location. Walking distance to all sights in city as well as nice restaurants.

We stayed here almost a year ago and came back because of the value and location. I think some upgrades in the rooms have been done. Our friends came with us and their triple room was a great size. The parking is a little tight if you have a larger car. It is easy to find the hotel if you just follow the signs once you are in the city. the reception desk has change locations, but it was easy to locate.

It was a little odd having to go out round the corner to the next door hotel to have our evening meal and breakfast. It seemed that only groups were fed in the de Brunville itself. Not very convenient as it was a pouring wet night. The meal we had in the restaurant was good, but waiting staff a little inept and when one waitress spilt my glass of wine, there was barely an apology. Coffee very expensive at 4.50 Euros each after dinner.

Although we had read bad reviews of this hotel and were somewhat dreading staying here, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were courteous although not particularly friendly. Our room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was expensive at 10 euros each, as was parking at 8 euros per night. Otherwise we were very happy with the hotel. A good central position.

Whilst the hotel was comfortable, at no point was I told that breakfast wasn't included in the rate. Avoid the hotel restaurant at all costs: The service is not in line with the prices they charge, even though the food is of a good standard. Staff were rude and uncooperative when two meals in our party were ruined and delayed, and when an expensive glass of wine was knocked over by a waitress and they refused to replace it. When asked for compensation on the bill, we were faced with no customer service and excuses like 'there is no manager on site to approve any discount'. Unfortunately this experience tainted our stay at the hotel.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us - right in the middle of Bayeux, which is a lovely old town - the cathedral is nearby and is well worth visiting. The hotel though was very ordinary and all seemed to be rather tired. Our bedroom was dreary. The breakfast was nothing special. Just about OK for one night though.

Hotel had no receptionist, only a shared one with obvious drawbacks No one bothered to give me the code of the front door and I got locked out one night Hotel would need to need to provide a breakfast suitable for tourists as well as locals

The room is spacious but a bit old. It's quite close to the Cathedral. The reception staff is friendly and helpful.

The room was clean but the hotel was let down by its service. Despite the literature stating tea and coffee making facilities, these were not in the rooms and there were none available upon my arrival. I had to wait until the next day to receive these. During my 4 day stay the trays were never replenished with tea /coffee, etc. The hotel was very understaffed and one evening I had to give up waiting for anyone to turn up to serve at the bar. This experience was also shared by the other hotel guests. Overall though the price represented good value.

I wasted 40 minutes trying to find the Hotel. It turned out to be the Hotel Luxembourg! I went past it early on in my search for the Brunville! change the website - signage in Bayeux needs changing in their one-way system. On arrival the Fire Exit sign was not lit at all. Despite telling reception it still was not working when I left 2 days later. First night spoilt by having snoring all night from next room. Breakfast is served until 10am. We went in at 9:20am - stale bread - no croissant - coffee had run out, had to ask for some to be provided - tables being stripped around us - most uncomfortable and still charged full price despite saying the coffee was good but nothing else. Second day - avoided breakfast! Overall - disappointed! needs change before I would return or recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay at "De Brunville" on 31st July, but having been put into the "Luxenburg" on our visit on 25th July,we have to say that we liked the Luxenburg better! We liked the surroundings of both hotels. We also liked very much the town of Bayeux, and seeing the famous Tapestry, and the Cathedral.Would love to visit again. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Bring your slippers. The carpets in this hotel are absolutely disgusting.

Very pleasant stay and moderate prices. Very close to the city center, shopping, and Normandy attractions. I would stay there again.

Hotel rooms are spacious if your on a longer stay, although if you are facing the main road then things get noisy at night between 11pm and 1am when people are leaving the cinema, coming back drunk and when the locals are out on their excessively loud motorbikes. If you can, try get a room overlooking the car park side, much quieter. The internet connection advertised on some other sites does not exist, no dataports installed. Rooms are cleaned everyday. Worth the visit, especially for Bayeux, lovely town to see.

Good stay except for the uninformed not so welcoming welcome personnel i met at the front desk. she didn't know how much local calls were from the room and seemed flabbergasted that i would be asking her such a question. It was basically a "why are you assuming i would know something of that secret of a nature?" overall great place. lose the front desk chick.

Overall speaking, the quality of the rooms and accessiblity of the hotel are acceptable. Price is also reasonable. However, most of the time, there's no staff at the reception counter. When we came back in the late evening, we got the keys ourselves at the counter. We were a bit concerned about the security of the hotel.

The only suggestion...new carpet! Our room was huge, even by USA standards. Breakfast was good. We would highly recommend the De Brunville.

The hotel was nice, clean, comfortable and the price was good as well. We had no problems with check-in. The recommendation for dining was vague and the place we finally eat was not very good.

We had booked into the Hotel De Brunville, but on arrival were given rooms in the Hotel Luxembourg which is adjacent but more expensive. Since we paid the De Brunville prices we were more than satisfied. Breakfast was excellent and we also had a very good dinner in the De Brunville brasserie.

Location was very good for access to tourist sites. Front desk staff was lacking as they seem to be understaffed trying to cover the restaurant and adjoining Luxembourg partnership hotel.
