Hotel Château de Goville - Le Breuil-en-Bessin, Bayeux

We would not recommend Chateau de Goville to anyone:overpriced,in need of a serious overhaul,very dusty,dog smelling and unwelcomming pompous hosts.

The Chateau de Goville is an elegant and eclectically interesting home, suitable for sophisticated adults. The house presents a splendid presentation of the owners' collectibles and an array of beautiful antiques. I would not take children under 10 years to stay in this hotel! The owners are charming and friendly and generously helpful!

We stayed in the Chateaux for 3 days. Location is very romantic. I think the chauteaux needs some restoration and modernization in particular of electrical system. Welcoming and facilities are not appropriate for this type of structure. The bedding and the bathroom aren't comfortable as I would expected from this type of accomodation. The owners have to improve this wonderful structure

This property is actually gorgeous! Our room was stunning with beautiful decorating. Unfortunately, there weren't many extra services at the hotel. Not many employees speak English nor did they seem inclined to chat with us using our limited French. We would have enjoyed a drink in their beautiful living room, but it wasn't offered and didn't seem the thing to do. The employees went to bed when the last guest returned each night so night life is VERY quiet. We drove to nearby villages, but we found all nearby villages except Baueux were pretty quiet and not tourist-friendly. We visited the Normandy beaches from here and we felt that we were conveniently located. The World World II history was amazing! Bayeux is a delightful town and we decided that we might have preferred to stay there. With a little help from the hotel, we located a beautiful forest where we could walk and then we discovered Chateau Belleroy - a chateau owned by the Malcom Forbes family and the location of a balloon museum. This was a beautiful, very interesting place to visit. We were surprised that the hotel staff hadn't recommended it.

If you like classical French "overdone" decor you'll love this place!...Room was quiet and comfortable, large bath with huge tub!...Bed needs replacing though. Outside the town of Bayeux about 7 kilometers. Young couples might not dig the isolation or feel of the place. Better suited to tastes of older couples in my opinion.

In room breakfast with fresh croissants and coffee... heavenly. Some noise from other rooms but part of the charm. Remarkable, loving restoration of classic home with unique furnishings and appointments.

Owners very friendly and accomodating. I would avoid with young children but definatley return in the future.

We were welcomed by a lovely lady who, although only spoke French (well we were in France), very ably showed us our room and the lovely collections of dolls, etc. We stayed for 4 nights and the other 3 days we saw who we believe to be the hosts/owners, however we found they weren't as "friendly" as the lady who was there on our arrival. The room was very clean and had a great ambiance, due to the old furniture and fittings. Location was lovely as it was in the countryside and quiet. We did feel that it was slightly overpriced once you added the cost of the small breakfast on top of the room cost. As there are no cafes close by, perhaps they should include breakfast in the room rate.

VERY INTERESTING HOME WITH LOTS OF HISTORY--BEAUTIFUL GARDENS AND SURROUNDINGS PEACEFUL, FIREWOOD PROVIDED, EXCELLENT TASTY HOMEMADE BREAD EACH MORNING

Just wonderful is all we can say. The property is an old chateau about 10 minutes by car from Bayeux a wonderful location to tour Normandy from. The host and his cousin made us feel welcome and were of great assistance. Make sure you check out the Creperie behind the Cathedral in Bayeux and try the soup for a cheap wonderful meal. Enjoy Chateau De Goville we sure did.

This was an excellent hotel which was quite elegant. My wife and I loved the hotel and the grounds are quite peaceful and beautiful. The service was excellent.
