We were surprised when we were told there is no breakfast included and it will cost extra 20 euro! per person. There was also a 7.5 Euro charge on parking, and this is one of the smaller towns near Lago Majore, not Firenze or Roma. On the other hand, when we asked for two plates and forkes to eat the dinner we bought in the grocery store they sent us a nice set of everything you need for dinner.

We selected this site for good quality at a reasonable price for Lago Maggiore. However we found the Menu du Jour and Breakfast were expensive, and we chose to eat elsewhere in Baveno.

I would thoroughly recommend to stay here. Water pipes were sometimes noisy. Staff excellent.

Almost everything excellent. Superb location on lake shore. Only fly in the ointment was the maitre-de who appears officious and gives you the most expensive menu, wine and bottled water without the option of choosing from what is available (set menu etc)

An excellent hotel, situated in a stunning position on the shores of Lake Maggiore. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel Splendid to anyone, I have no complaints at all about our stay there.

only complaint is the shower leaked all over the floor. The tray was poorly fitted and the horrible plastic curtains allowed the water to flow everywhere.

All front of house staff excellent along with waiters, cleaners etc but let down by an overbearing restarant manager who quite simply would not listen to customers and seemed more interested in showing off the fact he could speak 4 or more languages fluently. We had one embarassing scene in the restaurant where we had arranged with one member of staff to sit away from the window due to a violent thunderstorm, but this man took over and sat us down there anyway. When we got up and walked away to get another table he pursued us through the restaurant observed by about 150 other diners. This man also constantly interfered with the waiters who were doing an excellent job at the table but he kept walking up and taking over rather than making a discreet point to them as they left the dining room for instance. Fish course on that night (17th of August) was awful, the worst we had in our entire stay in the area. The rest of the fodd, staff and service absolutely fabulous, they could not do enough for you.

your fotoses are too poor up to reality. I spent one night 3 years ago in splendid hotel it was unforgetible the view from apartment to the lake.
