Good cheap hotel. Run down but very clean. HUGE bathtub was an unexpected bonus after 24 hours of flying. Make no mistake - this is a budget hotel. But it's clean and central, and I have no complaints.

We stayed here overnight as start of two week Swiss holiday.We liked Basel.People were friendly.Just one problem with the hotel- duvets on bed were scimpy and small.

The general door bell for reception's bell was in my room - 240 (no one knows why). Thus each time when some one rang it for reaction from reception I heard it, sometimes at 2:00 in the morning. I once even had to go and open the door for a guest who was locked out.

I was in Basel to visit museums. A positive thing was I was immediately given a free bus/tram pass for the length of my stay.It was difficult to interact because nobody spoke English and the manager kept smoking in your face...

Without a reception, lobby or any other public facilities this can hardly be called a hotel. The price is outrageously high, and though the breakfast was decent, the 70-ties looking rooms was hard to sleep in because if the lack of sound isolation and a busy street outside.

Very central and convenient for all the galleries and churches in Basel. If you don't fancy the climb back up from the Rhine, there is a tram stop close by. There is an Indian restaurant attached to the hotel, which I didn't use - there is a variety of restaurants within a few minutes walk. On arrival I was given a free travel pass to cover my stay, which was unexpected. No Wifi, which was a slight problem. There seems to be a nightclub in the basement, but I don't think it gets any customers - certainly I didn't hear or see any. Cheap and cheerful - the rooms are clean, the bath is huge and the water is hot. The electrics are a little suspect, though - take care.
