on my 4th trip to Barcelona I wanted to stay near the gothic quarter and harbour so the Santa Marta was in the right area and seemed cheaper than hotels nearby (which I have also stayed in) the reason for this is that it is down a small street and so there isn't a great view out the windows but it's clean and has it's own bar downstairs. Hotel is 5-10 mins walk from all the main areas and public transport to anything further away is 2 mins away as well. The staff all seemed friendly and as I was looking for something basic as a base for exploring this suited me fine. One problem was the walls are quite thin so you can hear everything going on but it's a city so what else do you expect. Please also remember that in Barcelona everyone smokes everywhere so if you don't like that you'll need to spend more on a hotel with more stars, I smoke so it suited me fine.

The room was bigger than expected but the beds where terible! The fethers in the matrass really hurt and caused big sleeping problems. Beside the bedproblems the hotel was oke for the payed price.

Ideal situation, between the beach and the city center. Rooms are dirty, especially the bathroon.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in comparison with the price I had to pay in my entire life. The room is so small that I could not even walk around the bed, let alone opening my suitcases. In addition, they did not even have the TV working or connected. The reception staff could not speak English and did not offer to help me with finding the nearest internet cafe. They did not give me soap insisting on using their shampoo for hand washing etc. My anger with this hotel is so much that I am thinking of suing the City Government to allow this hotel to operate for fools like me, booking the rooms through internet.

Rooms were quite small and needed paint. Blankets had holes in them. Mattresses were so thin that springs came through. Not entirely clean. Would not recommend.

ME HE ACOSTUMBRADO A LOS OTROS HOTELES QUE HE VISITADO, TAMBIEN A TRAVES DE VENERE Y TAMBIEN DE DOS ESTRELLAS Y ESTAN MUCHO MEJOR LOS OTROS QUE ESTE, AUNQUE POR EL PRECIO Y SIENDO DOS ESTRELLAS NO ESTA MAL, TODO FUNCIONA AUNQUE EL ASPECTO NO ES MUY AGRADABLE.

Th location of the hotel was perfect for our trip to Barcelona but the room although clean was very small and there was a very strong smell of paint in the room for the first two nights, we were also woken on our second morning by the sound of scrapping from the room next door, obviously they were painting the walls and the celings in the rooms.

Not the ritz, but got what we expected for 75 euro for a double room. good for those on a budget, staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the underground and not too far to walk to centre of Barcelona. Only complaint would be that we booked a double room and had been allocated a twin room when we arrived. Other than that no complaints.

The property was undergoing some improvements, including rewiring and plastering the landing outside our room which made it very dusty inside. When we notified reception staff they arranged for someone to come and clean within an hour. Very friendly staff. Furniture etc is basic and old but... for the price you don't expect 4* fittings. Good for a buget proce holiday.

We had a nice stay at this hotel, but I wouldn't advise a very long stay at this hotel. It's ok for a few nights, all the necessary basics are there. For young people price/quality is ok. Staff is polite and correct. Room was generally clean, clean sheets. Walls are very thin, so silence was the message! Of course, Barcelona was FANTASTIC and the location of the hotel is good for visiting most sights!! Also near the stop for the 'bus touristic' and the wonderful zoo!!

This is definately the worse hotel i have ever stayed in. I have used www.venere.com several times and always been satisfied but after this time I will never use its services again. I feel completely fooled. The hotel was dirty and noisy. The staff was unfriendly and unclean. It was to put it simply: horrible. You have been warned.

This hotel was more expensive than my HOSTAL in Madrid. I was scared walking in the room! The area was not very nice and the air did not work very well.

A small, very basic, hotel with a very small entrance which is quite difficult to find. The room was a reasonable size. There are no dining facilities at this hotel, you have to walk across the square to reach the dining room which is situated in another hotel.... The lounge in the hotel is dark with no windows and very few chairs. If you are travelling on a tight budget and all you want is somewhere to sleep then this hotel would be ideal, however if you would like a little comfort then I would not reccomend this hotel.
