The hotel was great .. the location is the worst .. i would NEVER stay on la rambla again ... it does not feel safe and the street is busy all day and night (but the rooms were quiet) ... i would recommend staying on another main street near by ... the hotel is well located if you must stay on la rambla because it is near the tourism office and the busses and the metro (oh and the amazing market) ... if your only concern is hotel its great .. the street la rambla is filled with creepy street vendors and performers and the street is over crowded

Very clean and welcoming Hotel, in a top position. Only "to improve" point related to the restaurant, really "turistic" and not in line with 4 stars hotel. Food was average quality both in morning and evening. Better to stay only overnight and go elsewhere to eat.

Besides having the best location in town, the restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent and prices were great also. There was a 10% discount on anything ordered in restaurant if you were a hotel guest. Excellent hotel !!!!

Great location, on Ramblas one of the most interesting streets, and busiest in the world.Step out of hotel into street activities, or enjoy people watching from the hotel restaurant, almost on the sidewalk, we were very pleased with our choice.

Hotel location was excellent, on La Rambla. The hotel reception is very small but fine. Our room (triple) was very spacious and well apointed, very modern. The 3rd bed was a sofa bed and was very uncomfortable we could feel the springs. The room smelled og drains but this was soon rectified by house keeping. However the smell returned the next morning, so i wouldnt like to stay here more than a weekend.

I have just returned from the Royal Hotel Ramblas where I stayed with my husband for 4 nights. the location of the hotel is excellent. very convenient to bus, metro etc. take a bus from airport straight to city centre. takes approx 20 mins and only costs €4.10 per head. ( try to have change available as bus drivers in general are very rude!) taxi costs approx €35 depending on traffic. bus runs every few minutes. the staff at the hotel were quite helpful. with regard to the hotel we were most disappointed overall with the facilities available. Practically non existent! Bar facilities are a joke as a result of which there is no focal meeting point for residents. Buffet breakfast was not great ( not varied enough) as a result of which we never bothered with any other meals at hotel. some nice restaurants nearby. for good value for money you cant beat the hardrock cafe. Be careful when having a drink along La rambla a glass of beer can cost anything between €6 and €11 euro. What a rip off! Internally the hotel was very quiet. However as our room was located to the side of the hotel we experienced a lot of noise from outside during the early hours of the morning. the hotel describes itself as a 4 star hotel. In our opinion this is over generous. would rate it at 2 or 3 star. Not in our opinion good value for money. Be sure to visit the marina which is fabulous and has some great shopping. the open top bus is a great way to see the city. for an extra €5 you can get a 2 day ticket. Our advice is to forget about the boat trip at the marina. another rip off! we sat on the boat for 2 hours with absolutely no commentary. most passengers we spoke with were very disappointed. if you are a football fan the neu camp stadium is a must and if you have the opportunity to take in a match all the better. the atmosphere is just wonderful. A fair comment about Barcelona is to say that there is something to suit everybody. Make sure to have plenty of

The great plus for the Royal Ramblas is its location. It is right on La Rambla, just yards from Placa Catalunya. It is the best location in Barcelona. The Hotel is just fine with the rooms made up early each day. We were surprised when on arrival at 10.45 a.m. our room was ready for us. The absence of a bar for a quiet relaxing drink in the evening is a drawback but we were aware of that in advance. The Breakfast Buffet did leave something to be desired but there are many breakfast bars within yards of the Hotel. The Moka across the road has a very good menu and there is a very good English Breakfast available in a restaurant about 100 yards up towards Placa Catalunya. The Barcelona Airport is very convenient. We travelled from the airport by train and taxi and it took about 30 minutes. On our return we took a taxi for about 30 Euro straight to the door of the airport. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Royal Ramblas for those who wish to enjoy the city. But beware of the "Ladies of the Night" as you make your way back from the bars or clubs after midnight.

Other than the cold reception by the front desk employee, everything was as expected or above our expectation. The location is so convenient and the rooms spacious and very quiet - great window insulation. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant (next door) and it was actually cheaper than if we had prepaid for it. Overall a great value - We would definetely recommend this hotel to anyone we know!

The Royal Hotel is situated at the top of La Ramblas and experiences the noise and bustle that that street brings! In this respect it can get quite noisy if you are in a room facing the street and have the windows open - not a problem during (say) winter but during summer it can get quite hot and therefore one needs the windows open. Breakfast is served in the adjoining cafe and is good value for just 9 Euros (plus tax). It seems that several rooms are being refurbished and as a result some noise can be heard during the day - not a major problem as one is inevitably out sight-seeing. The TV in the room does not have any English speaking channels - a miss at times in the evening if one wants to catch up on the news. Overall the hotel is clean and comfortable and at the centre of town - worth a visit whilst in Barcelona.

A side: location is very good, hotel is clean and room is spacious. B side: I informed about my late arrival, nevertheless they charged the first night on my credit card before I arrived. And I had to pay 5 euro for leaving a small bag a couple of hours after checkout...

The hotel is very clean...the room spacious and the bathroom...almost as large as in the USA. The receptionists were great - speaking at least three languages, courteous and helpful...Most of the receptionists were mature men in their 60's and they were awsome in facilitating the stay... I had a room overlooking the Rambals, yet the window was soundproof..I had to open the double window to hear the noise coming from the street. That was great. The only drwback: - the breakfast is ridiculously OVERPRICED - 9 euros...for not much!!!just a simple continental breakfast..without much fresh fruits or a variety of omlettes or egg preparations...there was only one omlette - a starchy potato filled 'carb'..to keep away from. Would recommand this hotel....close to the ghotic quater, good restaurants, the malls of the Cortes Ingleses, Fnac, hard rock cafe, a bunch of pubs and nightclubs..all winthin walking distance...

Location excellent. We had NO heating and on complaint were told alterations were being carried out. Desk staff had no record of our reservation. My only saving grace was my conformation information i printed off my home computer. Eventually a room was provided ( 2 hours later),room was clean and spacious with a lovely washroom, and a great view of streetscape. We were past of a group of 4 couples ,yet 4 different rates where charged. Continental breakfast was pricey 13 Euro's per person and selection was limited. I did enjoy my stay , lots of action right outside your door.

The Hotel was very good. The reception was quick and helpful. The rooms were excellent and quiet. There was a free safe in the rooms for valuables. I found the breakfast very good, with a good choice for an extra 13 euros each. You can get cheaper outside the hotel, but not as comfortable and convinient as the hotel. The hotel was advertised as having a bar. The only bar avialable at the time was in the hotel reception and was a vending machine. This spoilt the stay as I like to come back to the hotel after sightseeing and sit and have a nice drink in a nice environment. We had to use local bars. Otherwise the hotel was excellent only the lack of a proper bar spoiling it.

This is an ideal holiday hotel, perfectly located with the wonderful La Rambla outside the door. It is adjacent to the Metro and Airbus terminal and almost any means of transport needed. The hotel is quite good, but expensive compared to other hotels I have lived in. Breakfast buffet is not included and cost EURO 13 to buy. Location, location, location! - Great part of town. La Ramblas, one of the highlights of Barcelona is right outside the front door. Its only 10min walk to the sea, although you have to go a bit further to reach the start of the beach areas. Close to some good museums and the tourist bus which connects you with most of the key areas of town. The only negative for me was breakfast which I felt was only average.

Although a bit pricey for what we usually pay in Europe, the location (right on Las Rambles in the heart of the Gothic area of Barcelona), was worth the extra cost. We chose this hotel based on others' recommendations concerning the quiet provided by the quality windows. Eventhough the partiers were plentiful on the street below, we slept soundly. Quality hotel, very attentive staff, would chose it again.

Our party consisted of two married couples. We booked two double rooms and were placed on the sixth (Top) floor front facing. We had a marvellous view of the Ramblas and although there was a Champions League match on and a lot of supporters about outside, the rooms were quiet. We had an adjoining door which allowed both rooms to open up like a suite which was a nice touch. The rooms come with climate control and again it is not intrusive noise wise and can be left on at night. The bathroom caters for the traveller who has walked in from the street toothbrush (paste), razor (with Gel) in addition to all normal toiletries (in case you wish to travel light). The hotel is very very close to the Airbus Terminal (about a 3-4 minute walk - really) and is excellently located for the nightlife on the Ramblas. The hotel looked after our luggage after checkout on our last day until evening when we collected it and went to the airbus stop in Placa Catalunya. This hotel is incredible value for a four star superior, which it lives up to and I have already recommended it to others who plan to stay there. General advice on the area; the Hotel has a tourist information kiosk directly opposite and for first time travellers there is a Tourist Bus which runs on two lines, red and blue. A ticket which allows access to both lines in one day is 16 Euro and it runs every 20 minutes allowing you to get on and off at each stop at your leisure. This is an excellent way to see all of the sites in one day allowing you to enjoy the tapas bars and restaurants on the Ramblas. One note of caution - the Ramblas is full of franchised coffee bars and Mc'Ds etc and they will keep your change unless you ask for it. The bar in the hotel is excellent to unwind in last thing at night and the price of drinks is favourable with any of the local bars. Two doors down from the hotel is a large supermarket in the event that you require anything additional. Placa Catalunya (at 100m or 300yds) has a metro connectin

Stayed here for four nights in November and had a wonderful stay. Hotel was ideally situated on La Ramblas and just down from Placa de Catalunya (Both the Aerobus and train from the airport stop here). The only negatives for us were there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the price of breakfast, 13 Euros, OK I suppose if you eat everything but if you just have coffee and cereal, its expensive. Good location, nice clean room, very good acoustic insulation from outside Rambla noise, free newspapers, good service. Too expensive breakfast (13euro per person) in relation to choice and quality of food available at buffet. Good espresso coffee at least. Total price paid was higher than the amount shown on reservation: I've had the feeling they do not care about the price you come with, you just pay the hotel standard price no matter what Venere.com says, sorry Venere.com but that's the way it is! ;-)

I would like to stay at The Royal again for my next trip to Barcelona. The location is excellent, right on the Ramblas - very easy to get to from the airport via Aerobus to Plaza Catalunya & then a short walk. The staff were friendly & helpful, the beds were firm and comfortable & the power showers excellent! Even though the rooms had 'sound-proofed'windows, it was too hot to sleep with the windows shut as air-conditioning wasn't available (at time: April?) Saturday night was particularly noisy but we expected that, staying right on the Ramblas so that was OK.

We paid a great price for a 4 star hotel in a great location in Barcelona-what value for money! The price we were quoted is the price we paid. Just a couple of comments really-a coffee and tea facility would have been welcomed. Also, the heating system in the room looked quite simple but (in reality) it was a bit complicated (and you have no instructions in english). To be fair though, these are just minor issues and ,generally, the hotel was fantastic. I'd efinately stay there again!

Barcelona is fantastic - Hotel Royal very good but there was a couple of minus's. Most serious one was that the hotel was way too hot, we were there in December. The problem was that the heating was centrally contolled - there was a thermostat in the room which didn't work so although the room was sound proofed when the windows were shut, the room temperature was so hot we had to open the windows quite wide, consequently we had no sleep for three nights because of the street noise. Also we ate each night next door at the restraunt which belongs to the Royal. We had to wait for tables - on two of the evenings the food had to be returned to the kitchen since they served chicken running with blood. However the hotel location was fist class. I would return to Barcelona but maybe stay at a different hotel.

Excellent location on the Ramblas within 80m of Plaza Catalunya. 50m down and across the road excellent restaurant called Attic. Hotel within 250m of Aerobus (from/to airport)and Tourist Bus stops. Rooms were slightly too warm. Notwithstanding this last comment I will look to book this hotelagain when I next visit Barcelona.

We stayed at the Royal one day before a cruise and then two night after. The Royal is located right on the Ramblas, the main shopping area in the city. The room was clean, well appointed, and roomy as European accomodations go. It was also quiet. We would recommend this Hotel highly.

Location is terrific: an easy walk to a whole range of touristy sites, and to restaurants and cafes that span the range from touristy to obviously local. Also to the public transport that will whisk you further afield. We had wondered whether such a location would be rather noisy. But our room, at the back of the hotel (no view - but if you want to watch the world, go to a cafe!), was miraculously quiet.

We loved the location of the Royal. While I found the 13EU, per person, to include break-fast expensive, ordering room service was realatively cheap, and came from the same food sorce, the adjoining restaurant; it was also a superb "people watching spot". The personnel were congenial, and I'd stay there again. The only problem was having hot water to shower in the morning; it was ok later in the day, so I presume it was depleted by business travelers who left earlier than we.

Hotel was fine, staff were good. But I was disappointed with the level of noise coming through from renovations on lower floors (especially at 8am on a Monday morning)and we asked 3 times to have a flickering light replaced yet we still had a private disco in our room when we left.
