Excellent location in the Barrio Gotic near the cathedral, resturants and the metro. We were given a triple room with more space than we had experienced in our Madrid hotel. The hotel is located directly behind the Hotel Colon that fronts the square. Our taxi driver confused the two.

The Regencia Colon was one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The rooms were clean, modern and of a decent size. The bathroom was large and bright. The staff were amazing - friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would go back without hesitation.

The location of the hotel is very good and gave easy access to the city either by foot or getting public transport. We stayed in a triple room and there was ample room for three adults and plenty of wardrobe space. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly and spoke excellent english. Would definately stay there again if I return to Barcelona.

Nice place to stay, but we had one of the rooms where it is some noice from the street. The hotel could have had internett-connection for the guests. The breakfast is expencive, but there are plenty of cheap places near by,in Calle Anna we found a very nice and cheap one.

Regencia Colon is in proximity to a busy square, Los Ramblos and the waterfront - centrally located - our check in time was delayed by about 2 hrs which was inconvenient - as a whole, the staff was semi helpful, the breakfast at 11 eu was greatly overpriced & not to our taste...we paid about the same at a local cafe but the food was edible. The room was acceptable - nothing horribly wrong w/ this hotel but not one I would presonally return to.

Very good quality for the money paid. The hotel is far from fancy, but if you're looking for a place to sleep in the center of Barcelona, this hotel is very ideal. We had a twin roon and the room was spacious compared to the other hotels in the big cities I've stayed before, like Paris and Milano. Although the hotel itself seemed pretty dated, I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the place. The location was fabulous. Very convenient for sightseeing and also there're plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Although the hotel was located in the center of the city, I had no trouble with the noise from outside. I would definitely recommend this hotel for travellers who would like to see the city and go out for drinks at night rather than enjoy the hotel life.

We were very pleased with this hotel. Large comfortable room. Located a minute from the main plaza of Bari Goti area. Beautiful 700 year old church, dozens of restaurants, shopping, live Spanish music & within easy walking to the beach area & Las Rambla. Accomodating & friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.

We were travelling with SAS. Booked travelagency and hotel ourselves. The Hotel appears as it looks like in the advertisement: Nice, clean friendly with an better than average breakfast treatment. In the good end of the classification. Very helpful portiers and nice, well equipped clean rooms. ( You are allowed to smoke in the roms, though it does't smell like it!). It is situated in the central part of the old city, and in all ways a perfect place to start Your exploraton of Barcelona. If You do not crave for exquisit luxury and have other things You'd rather spend your money on, this is a very good hotel to choose.

Our room (on the right hand side of the hotel when facing it) was very noisy at night which was the biggest drawback. Everything from bottles being tipped, to mopeds and just loud people going down the alley at the side early in the morning and very late at night! The location however was excellent, just off the Cathedral Square. It would be helpful if the directions pointed out that the hotel is tucked away behind the much bigger Hotel Colon (we spent an hour walking round with our cases and wish we'd known this as the map is very unhelpful). Would stay here again, but definitely in a quieter room!

A good choice of hotel, right beside the big cathedral square. Breakfast was good continental. It was close to a stop for the city tour bus, which was convenient. We bought a two-day hop-on hop-off ticket, which worked out very well. However there was plenty of interest nearby also.

The location of Hotel Regencia Colon was excellent. Right around the corner from the Barcelona Cathedral and I was there just in time for an annual Christmas street fair. The metro is only about 5 minutes away and it makes getting around the city easy and fast. Beware of pick pockets on the metro and any place with crowds. I felt comfortable on my own even coming back to the hotel late. I would stay at the Hotel Regencia Colon again when I return to beautiful Barcelona!

The staff was extremely helpful to us and our room was great. We loved staying near the cathedral in the Gotic area, The hotel is a bit hard to find. When I looked around, I saw she was at the front door of the hotel and did't know it.

My wife and I sayed at the Regencia Colon for 4 nights in July and thought the hotel was excellent for price and location and the beakfast was good value. Perfect touristclass-hotel, within walkingdistance from "everything" in the Barri Gotic, and also from La Rambla, the beach, the aquarium, the touristic bus, shops, restaurants, the market - so to speak everything! We didn't hear anything between the rooms, but it was some noice from the streets outside - anyhow, the surroundings are very quiet. The breakfast wasn't that good (not included, and somewhat expensive), but we found a coffeshop a feew meters down the street that was perfect! Could perfectly recomend this hotel to friends, a small family, couples; everyone!

Brilliant hotel in fantastic location. Spotlessly clean throughout. Spacious room, powerful shower, lots of piping hot water, flat screen tv with loads of channels. Very helpful friendly staff. Excellent value for money, would definitely recommend to others and use again. Breakfast, which is not included, is bland and overpriced, so either eat out or get something from the local shops and eat in your room - we had plenty of space and a table in our room to do this, plus we used the mini bar to keep our drinks etc cold and fresh in.

My husband & I flew in from NY. We stayed at Regencia Colon for 2 days-1 day pre-cruise & 1 day post-cruise. For both stays, we arrived at appx. 8am & were told we couldn't check in until 2pm. After traveling such a long way, we were tired & it was a bummer to have to kill all that time walking La Rambla (most stores don't open until 10am). They should provide earlier check in, especially since the rooms get cleaned early in the morning. Case in point: the next morning at 9am, the maid walked right in on us without even knocking! However the hotel is in an excellent location-convenient to all the action. We didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't rate the food there. The rooms are smallish & the area is somewhat noisy, but they were very clean. The first time we stayed, we had twin beds pushed together. The next we had a double bed. Both were board hard & not very comfortable. If you're traveling from the US, make sure you bring 220v electrical appliances. When I plugged in our converter, it blew the fuse & we lost all electricity in our room. I had to go out & buy a hair dryer, since the one in our room didn't work. We told the desk agent the times a cab would be needed & he efficiently arranged for it to be there on time. Cab fare from airport was 45 euro and it's about a 15 minute drive.

Had a wonderful 5 days stay at the Hotel Regencia Colon. Lovely spacious and clean room, which overlooks the cathedral. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Not any noise, no thieves. Excellent location in the heart of Bari Gotic. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - as recommended by other "veneries" -, and this was a good choice. There are a lot of nice bars and cafes nearby. We chose this hotel based on price and location, knowing we were not in need of many facilities. It's really well situated if a little noisy and the staff were really helpful. Excellent location, but you have to put up with some late night noise. Decent double - glazing would improve matters. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decent breakfast, (possibly a bit pricey), but overall extremely good value, and we would definately stay there again. A word of warning to those who have not visited Barcelona before though - WATCH OUT FOR BAG SNATCHERS AND PICKPOCKETS. Apparently, this is the European capital of petty thieves, a greasy little guy sneaked up behind my wife and tried to make off with her bag, but thanks to the advice of the Hotel concierge, she had wisely wrapped the strap closely to her wrist, and he legged it once I turned on him! More good advice - NEVER take your passport out with you, use the hotel safe.

We had four wonderful days in the Regencia Colon in Barcelona. It is located perfectly, so that we strolled every day around the Ramlas and went running at the beach front. The important station for public transport, the Placa Catalynua, is some minutes to walk. From there you can take the bus to the airport, to Prac Guell and to the Montjuic Castle. Perfect! We came from a cruise and were accommodated with our luggage being stored until the room was ready. Staff was friendly and spoke good English, recommended tours and provided valuable info. on orientation and safety (there are frequent attempts to approach tourists - either by some conartists or just pickpockets, so a word of caution - stay away from "friendly" locals offering their help or asking questions. Room was surprisingly spacious and clean, including completely renovated bathroom with an excellent shower. Heavy automatic shutters absorb most of the noise, which seems to be a constant factor from the outside (hotel itself is rather quiet), so we were very comfortably resting at night. Location is great - in the center of Barre Gothic and short walk from tourist buses, taxes, main Cathedral, etc. Just note - there is only l night clerk at the desk, who can't help with the luggage if you arrive or leave early am.

A friend and I were traveling in Spain and we stayed two nights at the Colon Regencia. The location was wonderful and the hotel staff was very helpful in our needs at the hotel and information regarding Barcelona. The breakfast cost extra but was very substantial. This hotel sits directly behind its sister hotel the Colon. We rented a triple room which was simple and typically European in its size, but the price and location made it a good value for the money. We had never been to Barcelona before and selected this hotel based on comments on Venere and Trip Advisor. The rate was very good and the location is outstanding. It was an easy walk from Placa Catalunya, which is an easy bus ride from the airport. The hotel is on the edge of the Barri Gotic, which has tons of restaurants and shops. The staff were very helpful and indulged my wife in her high school Spanish, switching to English as needed. The room was clean and bright and featured very reasonable minibar prices as well as a corkscrew and wine glasses if you wanted to bring your own. We will definitely return. Just be aware that Barcelona is a noisy city and bring earplugs. The hotel itself isn't noisy but the street noise goes on well into the wee hours.

Although the room was spacious and hotel in an excellent location for seeing all of Barcelona, we had quite a problem with street noise every night. The garbage trucks came three times between 12:30am and 3:00am every night and the sound echoed up the stone walls outside and right into the room. We were only on the second floor, so maybe it would have been better higher up. I was only able to sleep with the help of earplugs, which fortunately I always travel with. Other than that, the room was excellent for the price. We were actually charged slightly less than the rate we were confirmed for. We were able to walk everywhere with ease and the closest metro stop was only a few blocks. We would recommend this place again, but try to get a room on the opposite side of the building from the entrance, and on a high floor.

We had a wunderfull time in this hotel. Location was excellent, but a bit noisy. Perfect hotel, this was our 2nd time in Barcelona and we decided that if we come back again it must be in this hotel.
