Perfect hotel (friendly staff, comfortable rooms)!. Nice cafes for having breakfast only a few minutes away. Special tip for excellent Tapas: "Tapafina" 5 minutes away from hotel (nearby Metro-Station "Jaume I"). We will certainly stay here again.

Excellent tourist location, courteous staff, clean room. Unfortunately our room had a shower drainage problem which the maintenance staff was not able to resolve during our visit. At checkout, we suggested that they not re-rent our room until it was repaired.

Location was still great but for ice you had to go next door to the Colon and that sewer gas smell in the bathroom-YIKE! They did have Wi-Fi but didn’t advertise it so we spent time in McD’s the first day.

Logged into Hotel Colon site and thought I had booked this hotel instead of Regencia Colon. Very poor distinction on site between the two hotels. Reception staff aloof and not reassuring. We were mugged and when we told night receptionist he shrugged, did not ask if we needed any help. Full marks to cleaning staff. Rooms old fashioned and a bit dull but very clean. Disappointed overall.

The only negative comment I can make about our room is the bathroom . It seems as if the placement of the bide was an afterthought, it is very awkward and the shower "wall" is also very short so that the floor got really wet every time one of my sons or I showered. Other than that it was a great place to stay. The front desk staff was very helpful, the room was spotless and the location was great.

Very good location and friendly english spoken staff. We had a room just above the side narrow street where there were works in progress, so the noise was very loud all day long. We asked to change room and fortunately they gave us another one with much less noise. In this one, they had forgotten to lock the corresponding door between our room and the room next to us, so we had an unpleasant surprise when a curious guy intruded to our room. The problem solved immediately and no other unpleasant things happened to us during our stay. The staff was friendly, sufficient and solved our "problems" quickly.

The staff were extremely nice and helpful. Very pleasing public area as well as the room itself. The room and the bathroom were very spacious and nicely done. The only hotel room I have seen in all my travels in and out of US where the room interior was designed with the thought of accommodating the guest staying in it: plenty of hooks and surface areas for storing and organizing your stuff. The location is excellent: few minutes to Rambala, few minutes to Plaza Catalounya, couple of mins to the hop on/off bus (which I defintely receommend against in busy season: you end up waiting your time in long longs waiting for full buses that take 1 or 2 persons and dive off). The only negative thing about the hotel is that the shower pressure changes a lot if you take shower during the busy time (around 9AM I think). Excellent value for the price. We would definitely go back to this hotel if we go back to Barcelona.

Enjoyed our stay at this very central hotel. We found the staff friendly and obliging during any inquiry we made. The room was clean and adequate for our 3 day stay. The bathroom included a bath/shower,bidet,hair drier and plenty of towels. The room was cleaned and linen changed daily. As others have said, it is a bit noisy from outside, but we didn't find it a major problem. The TV has plenty of channels but only a couple of news stations in English. The Regencia Colon has no bar or restuarant, but their are plenty nearby. It is under a minutes walk form the hotel main door to the square where the Gothic cathederal is located, and on your way there (on your left) you will find a very secure in doors cashpoint. This square is within walking distance of Las Ramblas, Picasso museum, and even the Zoo. One of the drop off/pick up points for the Barcelona Tour Bus is only a 100 yards away also. Would use again without hesitation, and would recommend to others.

Excellent location, nice staff, BUT: - it is incredible that in a 3 stars hotel there would be no way to get an Internet connexion !!! You have to go to another hotel next door to get it, which is not acceptable when you come on a business trip ! - it was november, the weather still warm, and the heat was on. The room was stuffy, impossible to switch the heat off totally, and the only way to get a decent temperature was to open the window. Which of course made it impossible to sleep since ALL the rooms are on the street, and being in the center the streets are extremely noisy. - breakfast was not very good: the scrambled eggs especially were obviously made out of egg powder (tasteless!) and not out of real eggs... Other than that it was fine. Too bad such little details can ruin your stay !!

Hotel is very well located in the gothic area. everything was fine except for the noise. church bells ring every 15 minutes 24 hours a day. even tho the hotel is on a side st. there is a lot of noise from late night revelers. if you're a light sleeper you'll have problems. but the location and quality of the hotel cannot be beat.

Excellent location in the Barrio Gotic near the cathedral, resturants and the metro. We were given a triple room with more space than we had experienced in our Madrid hotel. The hotel is located directly behind the Hotel Colon that fronts the square. Our taxi driver confused the two.

We only stayed for one night at the hotel having just returned from a cruise. We had a 3 bedded room as our 11 year old granddaughter was with us. We received a warm welcome and the room was all we needed although it was at the back/side of the hotel and overlooked by a hostel so we had to keep the curtains drawn when we were in the room. The bathroom was adequate but very cramped. The continental breakfast was excellent but at an additional charge to the room.As it was Barcelona in mid Auguat I am pleased to say that the air conditioning was most effective and easily controlled. The hotel location was excellent and ideal for our requirements. Our only complaint would be that the pillows were dreadful and needed replacing. Otherwise we would would have no problem in using the hotel again.

Regencia Colon is in proximity to a busy square, Los Ramblos and the waterfront - centrally located - our check in time was delayed by about 2 hrs which was inconvenient - as a whole, the staff was semi helpful, the breakfast at 11 eu was greatly overpriced & not to our taste...we paid about the same at a local cafe but the food was edible. The room was acceptable - nothing horribly wrong w/ this hotel but not one I would presonally return to.

Very good quality for the money paid. The hotel is far from fancy, but if you're looking for a place to sleep in the center of Barcelona, this hotel is very ideal. We had a twin roon and the room was spacious compared to the other hotels in the big cities I've stayed before, like Paris and Milano. Although the hotel itself seemed pretty dated, I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the place. The location was fabulous. Very convenient for sightseeing and also there're plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Although the hotel was located in the center of the city, I had no trouble with the noise from outside. I would definitely recommend this hotel for travellers who would like to see the city and go out for drinks at night rather than enjoy the hotel life.

We were travelling with SAS. Booked travelagency and hotel ourselves. The Hotel appears as it looks like in the advertisement: Nice, clean friendly with an better than average breakfast treatment. In the good end of the classification. Very helpful portiers and nice, well equipped clean rooms. ( You are allowed to smoke in the roms, though it does't smell like it!). It is situated in the central part of the old city, and in all ways a perfect place to start Your exploraton of Barcelona. If You do not crave for exquisit luxury and have other things You'd rather spend your money on, this is a very good hotel to choose.

Our room (on the right hand side of the hotel when facing it) was very noisy at night which was the biggest drawback. Everything from bottles being tipped, to mopeds and just loud people going down the alley at the side early in the morning and very late at night! The location however was excellent, just off the Cathedral Square. It would be helpful if the directions pointed out that the hotel is tucked away behind the much bigger Hotel Colon (we spent an hour walking round with our cases and wish we'd known this as the map is very unhelpful). Would stay here again, but definitely in a quieter room!

The location of Hotel Regencia Colon was excellent. Right around the corner from the Barcelona Cathedral and I was there just in time for an annual Christmas street fair. The metro is only about 5 minutes away and it makes getting around the city easy and fast. Beware of pick pockets on the metro and any place with crowds. Perfect touristclass-hotel, within walkingdistance from "everything" in the Barri Gotic, and also from La Rambla, the beach, the aquarium, the touristic bus, shops, restaurants, the market - so to speak everything! We didn't hear anything between the rooms, but it was some noice from the streets outside - anyhow, the surroundings are very quiet. The breakfast wasn't that good (not included, and somewhat expensive), but we found a coffeshop a feew meters down the street that was perfect!

Brilliant hotel in fantastic location. Spotlessly clean throughout. Spacious room, powerful shower, lots of piping hot water, flat screen tv with loads of channels. Very helpful friendly staff. Excellent value for money, would definitely recommend to others and use again. Breakfast, which is not included, is bland and overpriced, so either eat out or get something from the local shops and eat in your room - we had plenty of space and a table in our room to do this, plus we used the mini bar to keep our drinks etc cold and fresh in.

My husband & I flew in from NY. We stayed at Regencia Colon for 2 days-1 day pre-cruise & 1 day post-cruise. For both stays, we arrived at appx. 8am & were told we couldn't check in until 2pm. After traveling such a long way, we were tired & it was a bummer to have to kill all that time walking La Rambla (most stores don't open until 10am). They should provide earlier check in, especially since the rooms get cleaned early in the morning. Case in point: the next morning at 9am, the maid walked right in on us without even knocking! However the hotel is in an excellent location-convenient to all the action. We didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't rate the food there. The rooms are smallish & the area is somewhat noisy, but they were very clean. The first time we stayed, we had twin beds pushed together. The next we had a double bed. Both were board hard & not very comfortable. If you're traveling from the US, make sure you bring 220v electrical appliances. When I plugged in our converter, it blew the fuse & we lost all electricity in our room. I had to go out & buy a hair dryer, since the one in our room didn't work. We told the desk agent the times a cab would be needed & he efficiently arranged for it to be there on time. Cab fare from airport was 45 euro and it's about a 15 minute drive.

Had a wonderful 5 days stay at the Hotel Regencia Colon. Lovely spacious and clean room, which overlooks the cathedral. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Not any noise, no thieves. Excellent location in the heart of Bari Gotic. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - as recommended by other "veneries" -, and this was a good choice. There are a lot of nice bars and cafes nearby. Next time we will stay again in the Regencia Colon.

The hotel is in a fairly good location for seeing the city, however with the exception of one receptionist it was not very welcoming. Breakfast was OK but not worth the extra money. At night during the weekend there is a lot of noise from the adjacent square.

I went on my honeymoon. This was not my first time in Barcelona although it was my first time in the hotel. The room was smaller than what the pictures showed. The room was very clean, although it was very noisy from the street below and the noices from other rooms and the hall. The location was excelent, walking distance to the main attractions or by subway.

The only problem that I experienced was some construction noise coming from above during the day. The noise did not start extremely early, however, it was a bit of a bother towards the end of my stay. Other than that, my hotel stay was excellent.

We chose this hotel based on price and location, knowing we were not in need of many facilities. It's really well situated if a little noisy and the staff were really helpful. We thought breakfast was on the expensive side. The room was clean and fine except for a strong smell of smoke on arrival despite it being a "non-smoking" hotel. We would stay there again.

Had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Hotel Regencia Colon. Lovely spacious room for 3 adults. The front desk staff were very helful and friendly. Took their advice on travelling by tube and not the bus. Centrally located. We would stay here again without a doubt.

Excellent hotel ideally located in the heart of historic Barcelona. Only complaint was the constant (and late) noise from the streets that permeated the room we were staying in.

I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone that looks for an excellent position right in the centre of Barcelona. The room I got was spacious and clean. My advise is to call the hotel in advance to make sure you get a double room and not a twin-bed room, if you indeed pay for such a facility. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Excellent location, but you have to put up with some late night noise. Decent double - glazing would improve matters. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decent breakfast, (possibly a bit pricey), but overall extremely good value, and we would definately stay there again. A word of warning to those who have not visited Barcelona before though - WATCH OUT FOR BAG SNATCHERS AND PICKPOCKETS. Apparently, this is the European capital of petty thieves, a greasy little guy sneaked up behind my wife and tried to make off with her bag, but thanks to the advice of the Hotel concierge, she had wisely wrapped the strap closely to her wrist, and he legged it once I turned on him! More good advice - NEVER take your passport out with you, use the hotel safe.

We had four wonderful days in the Regencia Colon in Barcelona. It is located perfectly, so that we strolled every day around the Ramlas and went running at the beach front. The important station for public transport, the Placa Catalynua, is some minutes to walk. From there you can take the bus to the airport, to Prac Guell and to the Montjuic Castle. Perfect! We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - as recommended by other "veneries" -, and this was a good choice. There are a lot of nice bars and cafes nearby. Next time we will stay again in the Regencia Colon.

Excellent location in the heart of Bari Gotic. Close to all amenities and within walking distance of the Port and beach. Only a couple of metro stops to fabulous Parc Guell. Lots of good bars/restraunts close by.

It is a good place to stay in as it is near the Rambla and Barric Gothic. Basically, it's very central but you are paying for less in this hotel. It is one of the better 3 stars hotels that I have stayed in, most importantly, the rooms are spacious and it is near the Metro Jaume 1.

I consider the Regencia Colón and its upscale sister, the Colón, which overlooks the cathedral, to be the ideal hotel and location for visitors to the city.

We came from a cruise and were accommodated with our luggage being stored until the room was ready. Staff was friendly and spoke good English, recommended tours and provided valuable info. on orientation and safety (there are frequent attempts to approach tourists - either by some conartists or just pickpockets, so a word of caution - stay away from "friendly" locals offering their help or asking questions. Room was surprisingly spacious and clean, including completely renovated bathroom with an excellent shower. Heavy automatic shutters absorb most of the noise, which seems to be a constant factor from the outside (hotel itself is rather quiet), so we were very comfortably resting at night. Location is great - in the center of Barre Gothic and short walk from tourist buses, taxes, main Cathedral, etc. Just note - there is only l night clerk at the desk, who can't help with the luggage if you arrive or leave early am.

We loved the hotel Regencia Colon - right in the center of "old" Barcelona - close to everything - staff were most accommodating and helped us with places to visit. Breakfast was excellent. A super place to stay in one of the nicest cities in Europe. We would recommend to others, in fact, have already.

Loved the hotel and staff were very helpful, location was great, only complaint is noise during the night but as the location was so central, I don´t think it would be possible to avoid this.
