Good hotel, very clean, located quite close to the center. The street near the hotel is very noisy (because of the cars), but the windows perfectly isolate from the noise. It deserves 3 stars. We don't recommend to walk trow the streets that go directly from the hotel to the rambla...especially during the night! It's better to pass trow "drassanes".

The location is very good and close to everything... less than 5 minutes walk from the Metro and 10-15 minutes’ walk to La Rambla. There are few small convenience stores close by that sell fruits with very good price. We did not try their restaurant as we ate out all the time. There are many restaurants, tapas bars around the corner. The room is in good size with the price we paid. We have requested for a non-smoking room but ended up in a smoking one so it is important to double check the room at check-in. On the other hand, the non-smoking rooms are facing the street so they could be noisier. On the down side, there is almost no sound proving in our room. I could clearly hear the conversation from the next room so it may not be an ideal place for honeymooners even with tight budget. We had to knock on the wall couple of times to ask our neighbours to stop talking.

It was a great stay. My room was small but well designed and functioned, equipped with a mini bar and safe. It's not located right in the tourist hot spot but metro is a few steps away. Very handy to go about. I saw some complaints about the sewage smell in Trip adviser. The fact is that smell is anywhere is Barcelona, but I couldn't smell a thing during my stay in this hotel at least. Overall, good value.

It was our first trip to Barcelona and we were very suprised with the hotel quality - better than any 2-star hotel. We came for both sightseeing and beach and this one was perfect for any of it - close to metro station and bus stop from where you could hit the beach in 15 minutes. I`m sure that I`ll stay there again next time!

Firstly the price is unbeatable for location and quality. Secondly, the hotel is not located in the most scenic location but rather a very convenient location, close to the subway (100 meters), standard restaurants and shops, and an easy walking distance to Ramblas (10 minutes max) and the waterfront (15 minutes). While the rooms are not large and the bathroom fairly standard, important is the fact that the hotel is modern, very clean, with excellent beds and linen, air conditioned (excellent), and with good sound-proofing so despite being on the 1st floor on the street, there was no traffic noise whatsoever. I have paid over twice the price to stay in Barcelona in a similar hotel but in a much poorer location twice the distance to Ramblas and the waterfront. Highly recommended.

A nice location and good price but for us was a very noisy hotel. A lot of noise during every night of our 4 night stay. Also the breakfast room was on the first floor along with the rooms so from 7am there was noise of people arriving on our floor for breakfast. It is a clean hotel though and rooms are fine. Price is good and the location is quite good - near the parallel metro stop. It took us a little time to find the hotel but its entrance is just between KFC and Pizza Hut on the side street. I would recommend it but would not stay on the first floor due to the early morning noise. Higher floors may be better. Also we went at Halloween which would have been a busy time for the hotel I'm sure and woul have been prone to noise. The doors and walls are quite thin and unless you have quiet neighbours it may be noisy. It is ok though and we enjoyed our holiday but I would not go back due to the noise. Bring earplugs!

Great location, very close to the metro station, the staff is very friendly and willing to help. We loved our stay at the Paral.lel. It was inexpensive compared to Hotels on Las Ramblas a few blocks over, & much, much quieter. The hotel was not spacious, but so what? We didn't have to pay for space we didn't need! The staff was very helpful, several times, the location was great, with a short but interesting walk to lots of major tourist attractions. I give this hotel & it's staff a rousing 10 on the scale. The box of bath amenities was a nice gift touch too! Didn't expect it for the price.

I was expecting greater city. Barcelona is nothing in comparison with the imagination. Ordinary city. La Sagrada Famiglia is great but it will be finished in 50 years. Hotel is more or less OK, just too noisy. I hate Barcelona`s emergency machines. Paral.lel is situated in a little bit bad district. Catalunians rob people with parking. I won`t recommend anyone visiting this hotel!!!

Nice hotel, rooms are small and clean. I didn't like the smoke smell from the room and the smell of the bed-clothes and towels (at beginning I was thinking someone puked in room) probably because of the used detergent. Other thing that I dislike it was that we were having 2 joined beds in room that was forcing me to sleep away from my wife or to sleep in only one small bed.

Excellent value for money. In the center of town, but not in a trafficed area! 10min walk from Rambla, but not in a messy district - the walk is nice. Very close to a metro station, from where main metro line is connecting most of the tourist attractions. Ask for a room away from the street and you will get a room with windows to a yard with NO noice at all. Hotel was very clean. Staff speaks well english and can help you out with anything. We haven't tried breakfast at the hotel - so no review on that. We stayed for 3 nights and can totally recommend it!

This was our first trip to Spain. My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Paral.lel in Barcelona for 6 nights and were very happy with our choice. For the price we had a spacious room with 2 double beds and a very clean bathroom. The location is also fantastic. 2 mins walk to the "Paral.lel" metro station which is on the 2 main lines that connect to the most popular tourist spots. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and recomend this hotel to anyone.

It was a little further from the Ramblas and the Barri Gotic than the description on the website made it seem.Still centrally located however. For a 2 star hotel and for the price (55 euros for a double room, excl breakfast) I was surprised of how good the rooms and the service was. Everything is very clean, it's a quiet and pleasant hotel. Plus the air conditioned was great to have! The pleasant surprise was the free internet point in the hall, we really enjoyed that. There is only 1 pc, but it was available most of the time. The area is OK, but nothing special. There is a bus for Barceloneta, and it is convenient for Montjuic. It's a 5/10 minute walk to the Ramblas, which can be nice, but maybe somebody might prefer to be more central. Unfortunately they did not a iron to borrow at the hotel, so I had to buy one, but there was an electronic shop nearby where it only costed me 8 euros. I left it at the hotel afterwards so maybe now they have it for other customers!

Swift service, tidy and clean room and close to city centre. I was worried based on previous comments that the room would smell of cigarettes, but I didn't detect any smells. Walls are very thin so there is noise from other rooms and the corridors, but I was too tired to let it disturb my sleep! For this price I think the place is better than can be expected.

Paral.lel is currently undergoing refurbishment, which means that the public areas are very dusty and messy at present (May 2005). However, these areas should look much better when work is completed. The rooms are very smart and clean, although the shower was not great. A word of warning - the walls are very thin, and you can hear EVERY word, footstep and door closing. At 97 euro per night not including breakfast, the price seemed quite high. The area surrounding the hotel is not great either, although La Rambla is not too far away. Reception staff spoke good English, although some were happier to help than others.

I think the hotel was conventiently located. We had a nice walk to the Rambla and Harbor from our hotel, only 10 minutes to either. But, for the price of the room I was amazed at how little we received. No coffee machine in rooms. Very basic, small room and I live in France and are used to European Hotels. The Hotel staff was not helpful at all. And offered very little assistance. Didn't look up when we would leave or enter the lobby. My first time to Spain so maybe they just aren't helpful there? The hotel is directly next door to a Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken that stayed open later, so we didnt' go hungry, hahaha. All and all, nice, clean place. Breakfast Buffet was very difficult to find and I had to ask if they had one because I smelled coffee coming from someplace. It was 10.00 Euro for sweets cake, cereal and coffee. The hotel was way overpriced for my opinion but the cheapest in the area where they were most expensive.

Good quality vs price. Could be excellent. Two negative points: 1. The hotel is a "free smonking" area. If you enjoy smoking it is the perfect hotel. 2. The rooms are noisy (from the other rooms).
