We didn't use any of the public facilities - we got our breakfast along La Rambla or from La Boqueria market. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was great and overlooked La Rambla from the 4th floor - no problems with noise.

One of the nicest hotels of our overseas trip. Fantastic location, beautiful looking hotel. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend hotel. Just step outside the hotel for all the action in the main street. Love Barcelona and would return again.

Very nice hotel and good location to central places to visit. Recomendable. Very good quality of breakfast served. Not very charming inside public area. Some arts on the walls could be an idea? Bar not open at all.

following the good comments we book the montecarlo for a 4 day trip to barca and it was defenitly the right choice. the hotel is locatetd right in the heart, just five minutes from place catalunya and not more then 10 minutes from the habour. we reached all major sights by walking and got great experences with the friendly barca-people. thotel staff was enormous friedndly and helpful, the assited us in every issuse - speaking english, german (!!), spanish and portugese fluently. the rooms are more then well euqipped (hot-tub, flat-tv, soundsystem, aso.) the rooms have double-glass windows, so it´s absolutely quiet and the keep the heat outside. aircondition works properly and nearly without any sound. special wow: when we left the room after our siesta, the bed were made again, when we get back at night. as there a many cafes arround, we did not take the breakfast for euro 12,00, but we took a look at the bufett and it shows up very tasty. all over we jut can reccomand the hotel in any case. the relationship between rates/quality is unbeatable!

A great hotel in the heart of the City. The rooms were impeccable and the staff was very helpful and pleasent. Get a room overlooking the street with a balcony if you can. It's great watching all the performers on the street. We will stay here again should we return to Barcelona.

First time in Barcelona. Excellent location. Room very spacious and spotless. Bathroom also excellent. I would recommend this hotel. My only reservation was it was on the expensive side, given that breakfast was not included. We paid 310 Euro for 2 nights.

We stayed at the Montecarlo for 2 nights post cruise. The gentlemen at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The hotel is elegant and the room was immaculate. The location is excellent right on La Ramblas and a 2 minute walk to Plaza Catalunya where the Metro is available. Our room had a balcony overlooking La Ramblas, but we found no problem with noise. We did not try breakfast as there are less expensive options nearby. Our room had a whirlpool spa which we could probably have done without as it was more difficlt to simply take a shower, but that is a small criticism. Overall this is a terrific hotel that I would highly reccommend.

Our vacation started in Barcelona at one of the most lovely hotels we have stayed in. The location right on Las Ramblas put us within easy walking to the market and the Gothic area, as well Placa de Catalunya and Port of Angels. There is a lot of action on Las Ramblas, but the hotel had two sets of double paned windows in case you are worried about noise. The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Roger was one of the staff who went especially out of his way to give directions, etc., he also spoke English which certainly helped with our limited knowledge of Spanish and Catalan. We loved our time there and would definitely go back again!

High quality professional staff who offer personal service. English skills excellent. Fabulous beds. Our room was made available to us early...a bonus to the travel weary (missed connection & lost luggage). The staff took over the recovery of our luggage...made a copy of our luggage claim info, made calls to the airline for updates and updated us when we passed through the lobby. When the luggage was delivered in the middle of the night a quick phone call was made to tell us that they were outside our door w/ our suitcases, so we were back in bed in seconds. The robes and slippers in the room most welcome! Fabulous adjustable beds. With a big bonus of a fresh, crisp duvet (made of cotton sheeting) that covers the blanket/puff inside. (in other words, not a bedspread that is used many times between washing per hotel usual) Jacuzzi in tub did not work. Spotless, sleek, fresh room. Lovely - modern bathroom too. Thank you to others who recommended this hotel.

Great hotel for a short stay in Barcelona. Right on the Ramblas ( and at the right end for the rest of town ). Would happily recommend to anyone as a first rate stay. When you are there, DO make sure you go to the fresh food market - just about 300 yards down the Ramblas. I've never seen such a variety of fruit, meat, fish herbs, sweets etc etc. All really well laid out, and so colourful

We went for Hotel Montecarlo as it was rated so highly on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. The Staff really were so helpful and friendly, it was a lovely welcome to Barcelona and made our stay very enjoyable. Our room was modern, clean and with all the amenities we required, with wonderful beds! The location was excellent, right on La Rambla and very close to Placa Catalunya, but very quiet in the rooms so no problems with sleeping. It was a shame that for the price, breakfast was not included, but that would be my only criticism. I would thoroughly recommend Hotel Montecarlo to anyone.

An excellent choice in Barcelona! Location is perfect; Las Ramblas is where everything happens, and the hotel is central to all the activity. The room we occupied (Catalunya) was directly on Las Ramblas and was immense by European standards. Staff was extremely gracious and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Montecarlo to anyone who wants to enjoy the heart of Barcelona. One small note of caution: Las Ramblas is full of people all night, and is thus quite noisy. If this would bother you, you should specify a room toward the rear of the hotel. Better yet, make yourself a part of the Ramblas scene, stay up like the locals do and enjoy!

We enjoyed staying at the Montecarlo - it is right in the heart of the city and we were able to walk to all of the sites and the beach. The room was huge with a fabulous bathroom. Given that it is on La Ramble - it is still very quiet - only on Friday night when there was a band outside, did we hear anything...excellent hotel!

Monte Carlo is located in a perfect location right of the main street. Restaurants, shopping, sites, market -- everything is nearby and handy. Room is very clean, modern but not very large---which is fine. Great beds. Very quiet room ---no coffee in the room which I missed. Also there is a small bar area at the back -- but it was always empty. We usually enjoy having a drink at our hotel, and chatting with the staff -- but this was very quiet. So you only had to wander a few doors down to find this instead. I would definitely stay in this location and hotel again.

Location fantastic, hotel beautiful, spotless and staff very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, bed very comfortable and bathroom beautiful. Breakfast though not included in price was reasonable for Barcelona and good. Though warned not to get hotel on Las Ramblas because of the noise factor, we found this hotel very quiet even with our room facing Las Ramblas.

Hotel Montecarlo is on the right side of La Rambla, looking north, about 100 metres short of Placa de Catalunya. It is, therefore, in the heart of a busy and vibrant area. The hotel interior wa an eclectic mix of old and new with lots of space, particularly in the bar/lounge area (where free internet access exists). Our room (on third floor) had a balcony and looked down upon La Rambla with all its street life. Brilliant. The accommodation - a Double Superior - had a sitting room, a modernised bathroom (warning, no shower) and a modernised bedroom with a king sized bed (two singles together) that had a mechanism to raise or lower various sections of the bed. There are triple glazed doors onto the balcony which, when shut, kept all street noise out. The breakfast area was comfortable and served well. Continental breakfast with good options at a very low rate of 9 euros. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and would recommend any tourist wanting to stay close to what's going on to stay here.

We're a little biased because we got upgraded to a suite for free; needless to say, it was an amazing room. The staff was REALLY friendly -- the only complaint was when we asked for a nice, casual, off-the-beaten-path seafood restaurant and were given directions to a really pricey place which just catered to tourists and cruise passengers. It was probably the worst meal we had on our whole trip. Other than that, and the jacuzzi not working, everything else was fantastic. It's RIGHT on Las Ramblas -- so definitely a touristy place to stay -- but close enough to the major sites to walk lots of places. We'd DEFINITELY stay here again.

This is by fart one of the best hotels I´ve ever stayed at. And I´ve been to a few.... It´s everything it says to be on the website..and more! The staff was competent and very friendly. The rooms really are as quiet as they say, it´s the first hotel in a major city were I´ve been able to sleep without earplugs. Obviously the prices are above average but it´s money WELL spent. best regards Karin Nordstrom and Ulf Bergendal

Lovely hotel, right on the Ramblas, but there is excellent noise insulation, and good air conditioning, so we were able to get a good night's sleep. Mini bar was also better value (EUR3- for a beer) than simlar hotels I've stayed in. One minor gripe, there are no irons in the hotel - you have to use the laundry service, but this is tricky when only staying for one night

My husband and I chose this hotel based on the good reviews that had already been written about hotel Montecarlo. We arrived Saturday evening. As we drove down the bustling streets of La Rambla, we knew we had chosen the ideal location - right in the middle of it all. Once checked in, the staff were curtiuos and were able to recommend some good bars. The rooms were really quiet considering the location. We had the cheapest room. This was clean and spacious. The reclining beds were a great novelty. Breakfast had a basic selection and we took it both in the breakfast room and in our room. Overall - a great time was had by all.

The Montecarlo was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived all the staff went out of their way to make us feel really welcome. The room was fantastic, with a 4th floor balcony overlooking Las Ramblas. We asked the concierge to recommend restaurants and they were all brilliant. The facilities were more of a 5 star standard that the hotel's published 3 star rating. I would definately go back.

This was a great hotel right on la rambla in a very central location. We were on the 2nd floor facing la rambla and it was very quiet b/c of double doors. The staff was extremely helpful & super nice. Feels like a small hotel b/c of the service. Highly recommended.

Hard to imagine a better home base in Barcelona. the Montecarlo was just out of our price range, but we came close to saving the difference bynever needing to take public transportation; the location is in the very heart of Barcelona, and almost everything we wanted to see was a beautiful walk away. we had a "Sants" room, which was large, modern and luxurious. the staff was friendly and competent, took care of making sure our cab was there and waiting for us at 3am when it was time to go to the train station, and just generally made it an incredibly comfortable stay. nitty gritty: standard but relatively reasonably priced mini bar, standard safe, good size closet in separate dressing area, double paned windows, bidet and jacuzzi. complaints? no balcony (although many other Montecarlo rooms have them and I should have just asked for one), which made the Montecarlo's incredible view of The Ramblas and Barcelona a little torturous each night that the sun did that really amazing thing. there's a roof deck, but it closes before sunset, which I suppose keeps it from becoming a party up there, but man were we bummed when we headed up there with a jug of sangria. just one more: the adjustable beds were pretty entertaining, and great for waking up and lying around reading guidebooks, but there's no getting around the fact that two single beds pushed up next to each other are kind of irritating if you are the kind of couple who sleeps curled up with each other. I fell off in the middle more than once! I will strongly recommend the Montecarlo to my friends and family who visit Barcelona, and look forward to returning there sometime soon!
