The interior and decoration of the hotel looks really nice, and impressed us. When you come closer and starts using the facilities in the room, you´ll find them poorly installed, worn and badly maintained. Fx the shower was hanging loose, not fastened to the wall. We could live with it, but in to longer run there'll be serious problems mold. Another example is the toilet. It's difficult to get use to the stench of sewer. Well, you can live with these things in the short stay of af week or so. What was really hard and disturbed our night's sleep, was all the noise. Doors to the rooms were slamming when closed, and you could't close them quietly. You could hear the traffic and people talking on the street, almost as if the windows were wide open. All inn all, in our opinion The Market unfortunately doesn't live up to a three star hotel, dispite the beatifull look at first glance.

This is a gem of a hotel, except there is no place to stow luggage. The only available floor space other than the path to the bathroom is taken up by a stylish chrome chair that, even it, doesn't provide a flat surface. There is an architectural feature that forms a lip along the outside wall, however, that if you are clever at balancing, serves as a place to put something. All of the heavy stuff has to be at the back of the suitcase or everything will dump onto the floor. I stayed there seven nights, so I became quite good at it, but stay again, probably not. That really keeps this hotel from having an excellent rating. P.S. When asked for a luggage rack, thy didn't have one (which makes sense because there would be no place to put it). Remove the chair perhaps? Would make all the difference.

Bathroom was not cleaned well - hallway rugs were dirty. Hotel advertised free Wi-Fi but could only get it in the lobby and no place to really sit and relax there. Hotel was in an industrial area with a shopping mall nearby - if not for that we would have been very unhappy with our stay.

the location of the Market is perfect(for me)in comparison for example with the Gothic area; just too much (noise & hot) after a full, long day in this great city. All is as described but the one thing I find is way below par: the paperthin walls between the rooms! You could almost hear your neighbours breathing and imagine anything else... If they could change that, the hotel would be a 10. Definitely recomendable if you are a sound sleeper:)

The Market hotel was difficult to find... Detailed directions and a map would be a great help. We did however enjoy our stay and the restaurant was outstanding. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room was nice but there was a bit of street noise. We would definitely stay there again.

Absolutley lovely hotel! Only one thing that was wasn't so good - it was very noisy. The food in the hotelrestaurant was superb and affordable. We actually ended up having dinner twice out of 4 nights. Staff was very serviceminded and helpful. Location of hotel is perfect, walking distance to good shopping, Las Ramblas and the beach. We will definitely stay here next time in Barcelona.

Booked this as an overnight stay before we boarded a cruise. I knew we would be arriving late so the fact that it had a restaurant appealed to us. I was not really bothered about the area and whether it was close to tourist areas, as we would not have time to sightsee the next day. The hotel is a really lovely boutique style, with an excellent restaurant at really good prices. The room was modern with the best shower ever! We did have a wander in the morning and had breakfast in a traditional Spanish Cafe closeby. The surrounding area is close to the market, it felt safe but not sure how far it is to walk to Ramblas etc.

We booked for two nights and arrived at the hotel in the morning requesting if we could leave our bags at the hotel and check in later in the day. The receptionist said if we could wait a few minutes while the cleaning of room was finished we could then check in. So we had 'early check in' which was much appreciated. we enjoyed our stay at the Market Hotel and would stay there again.

Excellent hotel! Can't believe how nice it was for the low price. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and the hotel offers free wi-fi, water and apples. When was the last time you got a free bottle of water at a hotel? The shower was the one of the best I have ever had! Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Barcelona in future. Only slight downside was that when people were checking out in the morning there was an awful lot of slamming hotel room doors that made it difficult to sleep through.

Lovely hotel and nice staff. Location is about 15 minutes walk from the rambla. Rooms vary in quality, our room was very dark. Interior of room was black (not a problem) until we closed the blind to get dressed or to go to bed, the halogen lights that were in the room don't really provide any light making the room appear dark. That said other people in hotel had dark interior rooms but lots of windows and net curtains meaning they didn't have our problem. Staff are very friendly and overall location isn't bad at all. Can be quite loud in evening as Barcelona doesn't sleep and if you're above the bar it doesn't help. Would stay here again for sure though.

Situated at 15 minutes walk from the Ramblas in a quiet neighberhood, this hotel was an ideal choise for our first visit in Barcelone. We had a big room with a huge bathroom in the restaurant wing. The welcoming was very nice. Very good price/quality rate. I think the only weak point is the breakfast: we were right not to take it at the hotel;too much sweat stuff! Passing throught the eating area we realized that we had by far better opportunities in town (for 7-8 euros) with fresh juice, bacon and spanish omlette. I'm sure, we'll back.

This is a stylish and beautifully kept hotel in a fairly quiet and mainly residential sidestreet, just 5 mins walk to Metro (1 stop to Ramblas). Staff are all friendly and professional, and really helpful whatever your request. Free bottled water and fresh fruit are provided at reception, and wifi is provided free. The restaurant is fabulous and the menu & wines extremely good value, while contintental breafast (just €9) is varied with hot/cold/fresh food & drinks and can be eaten outside on the terrace. 2 lifts (one lovely old 'Poirot' style & one new) serve all the floors. Decor is modern/retro and everything spotlessly clean. This hotel is a gem - look no further! Can't wait to come again!!!

We really loved Market Hotel. This hidden boutique hotel & restaurant was a real jewel. The room decor was morden & chic. As other people wrote, it's a bit noisy in the rooms facing to the main road but we slept well anyway. The hotel's restaurant is quite pretty too and has a great value lunch during weekdays(beautifully presented tasty 3 course meal incl. glass of wine at 9,90euro). We normally try as many restaurant as possible but this was the first time that we went to the same restaurant for 3 times(1 lunch & 2 dinners) during our stay! It was too handy and we loved both cuisine and atomosphere. The airport shuttle bus stop and 2 metro stations(San Antoni and Urgell) were all 5 min. walking distance from the hotel. We'll book Market Hotel again for the next visit to Barcelona.

After seeing the comments about noise, we requested interior rooms and were assigned #309 and #311. Both rooms were nice and quiet and well decorated & clean. There is a nice pizzeria 1/2 block away and the St. Antoni indoor market was a good place to find fresh fruit. Overall this hotel was a good experience. Getting there from the airport: we bought the T-10 public transport card. Take the green bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, buy the ticket at the Renfe train station and get on the Renfe Train, transfer at Sans station to the Underground Metro which will take you to the St. Antoni station only 1-2 blocks from the hotel. I think the T-10 card was only about 7 Euro, so a family of 4 can get to the hotel from the airport for about 3 Euro!

This was the first time we stayed in this hotel, and we've already booked for our next trip. We'd asked for a quiet room after reading some negative remarks about noise due to the hotel's proximity to the market, and we never heard anything (other than the guests upstairs, but that's part of the joy of a boutique hotel). The place looked wonderful, we had a cute little balcony (although no sun to enjoy it, unfortunately) and beds and shower were of perfect standard - a must for any half-decent hotel. An excellent breakfast was served in the restaurant, which we plan to visit in its own right the next time. Overall, a very enjoyable visit for a good price! We stayed in a nearby 4-star hotel for 1 night after (pre-booked as part of a business trip), which was double the price, but probably half the quality. I'd recommend Market to anyone.

We had a very pleasant stay in the market hotel. The staff was very welcoming, helpfull and the place very charming. We had a good surprise to have a wifi access available in the rooms, included in the price. The weak points are that: - the room we stayed in was very noisy: both from the street where each morning at around 5am goods were delivered in the neighbourhood and the noise of the shower from the next room is very loud ! - Little storage facilities in the room (but still ok). Overall it is a very pleasant place and we would go back to stay there. The Staff is very nice !

This is a good hotel in a residential area, within easy walking distance to the bus and metro and to the Ramblas. The breakfast buffet was very good and the hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room had comfortable beds and a large bathroom, but the lighting was a little dim in the room. Ask for a quiet room, as the rooms on the alley were a bit noisy early in the morning. The hotel restaurant was very good and always busy with locals. There is a non-smoking section which is not easy to find in Spain and was a plus for my wife and me. They also provided complementary bottles of water and apples, which was a nice touch. If you are looking for five star luxury, this is not for you. But if you want a good hotel at a reasonable price in a good location, I would recommend Hotel Market without hesitation.

The hotel was well represented in the photos online. Yes, for 4 of the rooms in the hotel, you do have to walk through the restaurant, but this was not an inconvenience at all. However, the hotel was a bit too far from the main attractions of Barcelona. The staff was extremly helpful. They were able to arrange a car rental and recommended hotels and areas to see along the Costa Brava. I would love to stay here again, but I would be tempted to check out other hotels closer to the action of Barcelona.
