Hotel Mare Nostrum - Barcelona

Friendly staff, good location , proper service acquired.

The location is great, very easy access to most touristic places and shops and restaurants and underground. Our room had a balcony facing to La Rambla, but the window was good enough to keep all noise out. However thr room was too tiny and it was very strange that bathroom and toilet d,dn't have wall to seperate, just glass and if you go with a friend, could be a privacy problem. Breakfast was very weak. Stuffs at the reception were friendly and helpful.

Perfect location on Ramblas, with little balcony overlooking.. Very short walk to both port & Plaza Catalunya. Central market less than 2 blocks. Street noisy, as expected for Ramblas, but windows blocked all noise, when closed, making for easy sleeping. Beds comfortable. AC worked fine. Staff very helpful and very adequate English. Breakfast plentiful- yogurt, ham ,cheese, toast,cereal,fruit, juice, packaged pastries.

Very nice hotel and wonderful location (near Ramblas). The service was very good and the staff very friendly.

Literally steps from Las Ramblas so it can be loud at times. But the windows did block out most of the noise. Very friendly staff. Great location and excellent stay

The room for 3 persons that we got had bad smell in the bathroom. But besides that, good value for the cost. Excellent location.

I stayed for 5 nites/6 days. Hotel location very convenient and happening. Staff are friendly and we enjoyed our stay there.

Good relationship between price and quality. Directly onto the Rambla and very near to the underground's station. Quiet noise from the other rooms, the external bathroom and the street.

The hostal is located in the barri gothic near all the interesting places to visit (Ramblas, metro Liceu, Catalunya place, port vell...). The staff is multilingual (english, french) and there is a free internet access on a computer available for the guests. This is definitely a very good place to stay for visiting Barcelona !

This hostal is in a perfect location right on The Ramblas and opposite a Metro station. The room was very small but I had a balcony and even though in a very busy area it was quiet at night. It had free internet access and breakfast was included. The staff spoke good English and for the price it was good value.

The linoleum floor was dirty. The room was too small to turn around in, the "bathroom" was a toilet in a telephone-stall sized space partitioned off. We left after the first night and found a lovely hotel close by for a mere 20 Euros more. I thought I understood the difference between a hostal and a hotel, but Mare Nostrum doesn't meet even minimum standards.

Nice little hotel right in the middle of things,great location.Reception staff were great.Breakfast was good enough to stop two kids moaning until lunchtime.Would stay here again.

It is a pretty good selection, clean but small room.

We stayed 3 nights in a tripel room - 3 adults. The space was tight, but we only used the room at night basically. Comparing price, location and service the stay was excellent. We would consider using Mare Nostum again and can only recommend it to others.

Its a good hostal in a special place...i recommend everyone who wants to be near the RAMBLAS.. Nice space and service ...

First time there, but it was very good. The only thing is that you do not have to be very busy to take your breakefast... the waitresses are not very active.

Horrible experiencia, hay 25 peldaños antes de llegar al ascensor.El valor cancelado fue superior en 30 euros mas en dos noches que estuvimos, en relación al pactado por internet.El baño de la pieza era un cubículo sanitario ya que la ducha estaba entre medio del wc y minilavamanos, escurriendo el agua al piso.Televisor malo y no lo arreglaron.Tuvimos que irnos encontrando un hotel 3 estrellas por un valor muy inferior también en las ramblas.Es un hostal de mala calidad,con precio de hotel.Además exigen pagar al ingreso.

Your not staying in the RITZ, however, for the price, the rooms were nice and the breakfast welcome! We had a balcony!! It's not real easy to find so keep that in mind! Had one free internet computer! Nonthing special, just very nice for the $$$!! This is where we will stay one our next trip!!

This hotel is in the middle of the center (View to the "Rambla").Everything is close by. Its clean, and the employees are very kind and helpfull.Travled with my daugther (13 years old). Was perfect for us. For sure,next time in Barcelona, we will stay at the same place.

The hostal is very good located. the beds were very small as well as the room. There were some news saying that due to the economical crisis, the 5 star hotels were costing the same amount I paid for the hostal!.

Perfekt läge. Välkomnande leende ung receptionist. Litet rent rum utan märkvärdigheter. Wienerbröd och doughnut till frukosten (hm)!

E' una sistemazione che abbiamo trovato fantastica. Si tratta di un hostal, ma è molto ben curato, la colazione è inclusa nel prezzo e piuttosto varia. Si trova praticamente sulla rambla centrale, quindi nel cuore di Barcellona, ma nonostante questo dalla nostra camera, al 4° piano con ascensore, non si sentiva per niente il rumore della strada (sempre piena di gente ad ogni ora del giorno e della notte). Un pò meno silenziate le camere, i muri sono abbastanza sottili e si sentono chiaramente i rumori provenienti dalle camere attigue. Nonostante ciò non siamo mai state disturbate nelle ore notturne e abbiamo dormito benissimo. La fermata della metro è a pochi metri. Il personale è stato tutto molto gentile e disponibile. Tutto considerato, riteniamo proprio che sia la sistemazione ideale per chi vuole trascorrere un week-end o qualche giorno a Barcellona, tenuto conto anche dell'ottimo prezzo e dell'ottima collocazione nella città. La nostra camera era un pò piccola, non sappiamo se ve ne siano di più grandi. Se dovessimo tornare a Barcellona pernotteremo sicuramente qui ancora.

It was the greatest location of Barcelona compared with the price and service offered at Hostal Mare Nostrum. Great that the breakfast is included! And by the way it was a very good one. We (four women) are definitely going to live here again, if we'll visit Barcelona another time.

Clean, and nice. Good prize. Small room, but nice bathroom. Good heating system (stayed there in december). Perfect location and not very noisy though the room were facing the Rambla.

We (4 women) have stayed for one night and it was perfect. Nice people, nice room and we loved the balcony at the Ramblas. We enjoyed the late evening and a part of the night with just looking at the never-sleeping Ramblas.

2 nights with kids (12,14). Excellent location, metro, restaurant a few steps. Balcon to 'Las Ramblas', fun to sit there watching the crowd. Easy to have a walk and get home even in the night. Be careful though to walk in the wrong direction in the hotel's street, the change might surprise you in a few minutes. Excellent place if you go for the city, not the hotel. Would stay there again.
