Hotel La Ciudadela - Barcelona

We enjoyed our stay here. It was near public transportation and it suited our needs. It was very clean. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an economical, friendly atmosphere.

The hotel is near the metro and has a restaurant. the food is not bad but a little bit expensive. The room is good but small with air-conditioning. It's a little bit noisy facing the street but bearable. One lady speaks good English and is helpful. The wi-fi internet access is weak and always on and off. Not far from the airport. No elevator is a downside.

Second time in Barcelona ! Same hotel !

Very nice hotel (with a good and cheap restaurant); rooms quite small, but very clean; well situated just in front of the Ciudadela park. We recommand this hotel.

First time in Barcelona and this turned out to be an excellent location for exploring the city. I liked that it was away from the most touristy areas. I felt like I got to interact with typical Spanish people going about their days. The parks on two sides of the hotel were wonderful. The closeness to the metro and train station were great. We had an inner room which was quiet at night, but did miss being able to see outside to check the weather. The room was very clean, the bathroom was nice size, and we liked having wireless access in the room. I felt it was a very nice place for the price and would stay there again.

The hotel was situated in a vibrant part of town above a very popular restaurant.Our stay coincided with an 'earth day' fair held in the park opposite. The hotel staff were warm, friendly and very professional and made our two night stay in Barcelona most enjoyable.

Room was small, but clean. Had one window, but looking at closed, very small inner court, that provided almost no daylight. Hotel is well situated, in front of the beautiful La Ciutadella park.

We spent our first two nights in Spain at La Ciudadela and you couldn't ask for a better place-especially for the price. Situated right across the street from the Parc de la Ciudadela and down the street from the arc de triumph, La Ciudadela is in prime location in the old city with just a 15 to 20 minute walk to Las Ramblas, 10 minutes to the port and Barceloneta, and 5 minutes to the Gothic quarter! They even have their own cafe where you can grab a quick cafe con lechee or a hearty huevos rancheros before hitting the city, or just relax with an ice cold cerveza and people watch. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. On my next trip to Barcelona, I will stay here.

We spent only 2 days in Barcelona, but it was a good view of the city, the hotel was good and clean. The major problem was that our room was very noisy, included during the night, all night.

Nice hotel for this price. Just 500 m from the bus station Nord. And the beautiful park Ciutadella right over the street. Some noise from the resturant to midnight. But I would stay here again.

The staff at La Ciudadela was wonderful. This is a bare bones, no frills hotel above a restaurant on a busy street and across from a park. The restaurant overflows to the sidewalk and it can get noisy. Our room was in the front right, on the street and we could hear traffic. The hotel was clean and pleasant and the staff was excellent. The front desk attendant was also the dining room waitress and spoke English very well. The gentleman who got up at 6:30AM to call a taxi was also diligent and polite. His English was not so great, but this is Spain, not the USA. I would recommend La Ciudadela, but be sure to ask for a quiet room.

My wife and I stayed for four days in Barcelona. Everything about the hotel was very nice except the noise at night from outside. The hotel has a very nice restaurant with outside tables. Our room was directly over the outside tables, and the restaurant is open late at night. We would have requested an inside room, especially when staying for four nights. The staff, especially the concierge and one lovely waitress were very helpful. The area around is wonderful, with easy access to parks, attractions.

Dispite the small room, they had outstanding staff in all areas:flexable, restaurant, information. This hotel is located perfectly for walking around the must see places in Barcelona. Great value. Highly recommended.

The staff is kind and ready to serve you. On check out we had a late flight but we were allowed to leave bagagge in till late.

This is the third time we have visited Barca and definitely the best hotel we have stayed in, basic but clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a bit noisy on the Sat night as Barca beat Real Madrid 6-2 but it was all part of the experience. We definitely intend to go back to Hotel La Ciudadela.

Very convenient location for walking around the centre and for public transport further afield. Quite a lot of traffic all night so we had to close the window but good quiet air conditioning. Simple plain room but comfortable bed and very clean. Very pleasant helpful staff. Good freshly cooked food in their restaurant with vegetarian choices. Full menu and also a simpler, cheaper menu of the day each day. Menus in a variety of languages, including English. Very nice wine to go with it. Open from 8a.m. to midnight and busy with locals and visitors but not noisy. We were happy to stay here for 5 nights in March this year.

Everything was ok! The room was clean and with windows to the park Ciudadela. Great area,with metro station close enough and evening events. First time in Barcelona but for sure not the last.

Very friendly, accommodating staff. Rooms were of typical size of most European hotels that I have stayed in prior trips. As the price would suggest, there are no frills, however, cleanliness is my number one priority, and this property did not disappoint. A plus is the great view of Ciudadela Park across and the street as well as a restaurant owned and operated by the proprietors of the hotel directly downstairs (you enter through the restaurant to access the hotel). Also, the hotel is in very close proximity to La Franca train station that runs to the Airport. 15 minute walk from The Rambla and Mercat de Boqueria which was a definite must see. If returning to Barcelona on a similar budget, I would definitely look into staying here again.

We only stayed the one night in this hotel, the staff were very friendly, especially the waiter in the morning and the cleaners. The lady on reception let us check in earlier than the stated time, which saved us lugging suitcases around for a couple of hours. It was a bit noisy with traffic outside but this died down in the early hours of the morning. A great location, being just over the road from the lovely Ciutadella Park and a few minutes walk from El Born. The only small thing we found 'off putting' about the hotel was a picture on the stairway about bullfighting - we find this kind of thing very offensive. Apart from that, it's a very clean, friendly place.

Good, clean and well placed for central Barcelona. The park opposite is wonderful with museums and Zoo.

Very good location. Close to the beautilful park. Walking distance to the beach and shopping. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Nice and confortable hotel, in a quiet position but in any case located in a strategic area, as it is possible to visit the centre of Barcelona by foot.

Excellent small hotel in the centre of Barcelona. Every important attractions are in walking distance, but public transportation is also very good. Very clean rooms, nice staff, we spent 9 nights here, and we are going to stay here next time, too.

Passei apenas uma noite no Hotel, mas pude apreciar sua boa acolhida. É um hotel pequeno, mas muito limpo, decorado de modo simples, mas agradável e o pessoal é dedicado.O café da manhã é bom (não muito rico, mas com qualidade)e o hotel tem um bar agradável. Os pontos negativos foram apenas: o barulho, no quarto onde fiquei, que dava para a rua, e a falta de uma iluminação mais clara no quarto. A localização não é ruim, mas como Barcelona é uma cidade grande, o hotel apresenta distância média de vários pontos de interesse´.

Very cosy small hotel with pretty and clean rooms. Central located, no long ways by walking to the beach and las ramblas. Would choose this hotel secondtime also.

Very good value for Barcelona. Ideal location. We fly to Girona on Ryanair, and the shuttle bus stopped at the station a short walk from the hotel. We arrived very late in the evening, but the neighbourhood seemed very safe. Arc de Triomf metro was a pleasant 5 min walk away so easy to get around the city using this hotel as a base. The old town is within walking distance too, this area is very good for bars and restaurants at night it's vibrant without being too rowdy. The hotel itself was fine, very good for the modest price. The en suite bathroom was modern and clean. i'd definately stay here again.
