Married Couple - Great location close to most tourist attractions - within walking distance. room was good as was the staff. only negatives were the expensive breakfasts and internet but was able to source elsewhere on La Rambla. We would stay there again. Good position near the main tourist attractions. Negative on the expensive breakfasts and expensive internet. We found a cheap internet site on La Rambla - ditto for breakfast. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Thought it was quite expensive bearing in mind our friends stopped two hotels down from us and they paid 80 euros a night and that included breakfast and we paid 129 euros a night and breakfast was an extra 18 euros. The room was quite small too for a double room.

Rooms quite dark, rather old and although tidy, not particularly clean.

The hotel was great, more then i expected at this price. The location was it's best advantage, 3-5 min walk to Plaza Ctalunya, Rambla, metro, bus am sorunded by restaurants and stores. The personal was very helpful. It's only downside was that it was a litlle but noisey but we had no problem sleeping.

Very well located hotel. Non smoking room on the first floor not very well insulated from the noise from the street. Good package:B&B + touristic tkts. Excellent opportunity to watch the marathon.

First time to this hotel and i will come back. its a perfect spot 50m from Ramblas, Metro and Catalonia square. We stayed for 3 days and The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The reception staff was very polite, spoke perfect English and helped us with recommendations and maps. They also did the service of booking us restaurants we requested since we don't speak Spanish.

This is a great location, just a couple of blocks from La Rambla and easy walking distance to Old Town. The inexpensive bus from the airport left us at Placa Catalunya, an easy walk to the hotel.

Location of the hotel is ideal. Breakfast was pleasant. Gemma, the hotel manager was very welcoming and offered an early check-in which was great after a 14 hour flight and considering we arrived at around 9am. It was our first time in Barcelona and stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. We had a front side superior room which caught a lot of street noise which did not but some might be bothered.

Satff was helpful at check in and with assistance oni other matters. Wish we had known about the roof top lounge area at the start of our stay. We were only made aware of it the last day. We did take advantage of their internet availability but it was pricey at 3 Euros for 30 minutes. Location was great for Eixample and Ramblas. Short cab from the train station and reasonable cab to the airport.

I have stayed in the hotel twice, it has an excellent location right in the heart of Barcelona and close to transport links. Staff are very helpful and speak good English. I would advise anyone going there to ask for a superior room, the standard rooms are quite small and dismal. Superior rooms are pleasant and well appointed though we could have done with more drawer space for clothes.

We stayed for 3 days in Barcelona and Hotel Inglaterra and it was just excellent (except the weather). The hotel is near plaça catalunya and la rambla and a lot of things are in walking distance. From the airport to plaça catalunya it's about 30 to 45 minutes by AEROBUS (depends on traffic). The hotel was not full, that's why it was very quiet. The window are very good isolated. The rooms are like in all major-cities not extremly big but it was okay for us (we just slept there). We got an upgrade of the room just like that, what we appreciated very much. Breakfast and Touristic-Bus-Ticket were included in the price, because we had the possibility to book a package. Next time, we would certainly stay at Hotel Inglaterra again.

Very tasteful and clean hotel that was well located. However, downside of the location was that it was fairly loud, although rooms at the back of the hotel may be quieter. Excellent staff on reception that couldn't have been more helpful to me when my bag was stolen and I needed to cancel credit cards etc. Also very helpful in providing tourist information assistance (eg recommending places to eat and advising on buses) - which very much added to our stay. Very pleasant roof terrace. Didn't sample the breakfasts. Rooms not large but adequate - very clean and tastefully decorated. Would definitely stay there again if I was keen to have a central location.

The hotel has very comfortable and surprisingly quiet rooms, ours faced the main road. It was centrally located within easy walking distance of the Placa de Catalunya and close to transport links. The breakfast was expensive so we did not eat in the hotel as there was a plethora of eateries of all kinds in the area. The staff were all very friendly and all queries were answered efficiently. I would certainly recommend staying there to friends and if we went back would not hesitate to use the hotel again.

the situation is excellent, at the top of the Rambla, near the Cataluna Plazza, within walking distance to the Gaudi buildings or the Plazza de Espana.During the 4 days of our stay, the car didn't leave the carpark. Avoid the carpark on plazza Cataluna(35 E a day)

The twin room we were given was not a classic double as booked, but we were offered a different room promptly. However it was much smaller than the twin room so we decided to remain in the twin. A water leak into our bathroom from the room above resulted in us being given yet another room. The staff responded very quickly to this crisis and we were relocated very efficiently. So well done staff!

We stayed three nights in mid november and the hotel was a very good base for our visit. It is a simple, tidy hotel with reasonable prices. We did not eat the breakfast at the hotel so we cannot comment it. The lobby was a little boring and we did not see any bar. But for us this wasn't a problem since we where out in Barcelona or in the room.

I got the bus in from the airport to Plaza Catalunya and found the street straight away, but not the number (numbers don't seem to run in order), so it took me around 30 minutes to find the hotel. Excellent location, excellent staff - the receptionist went to a lot of trouble to ensure that the Fuentes de Montjuich were actually in operation the day I wanted to visit, as they had been closed a couple of days before. Good tapas bar (out of the entrance and just left across the road) and small supermarket (out of the entrance and left down the next street). Glad I took a travel kettle as still no tea making facilities in the room, but there was a hairdryer. Will definitely go there again. Location is just brilliant, and the price is right!

We had reserved a room with a double bed, but when we arrived, we had a choice between two twin beds or one king, but that the king would be 10 euros more than the original 135 euro per night cost. We took it, and overall the Inglaterra was worth the price, but most of the praise we have for the place has qualifications. The room was modern, comfortable and tastefully designed, though a bit cramped. It had a huge, recently renovated bathroom, with a decent sized shower but no bidet and no window or exhaust; it was clearly built to accommodate a handicapped guest. Even though the room was on the first floor, it was quiet with the windows closed, but the air-conditioning wasn't that responsive to the thermostat. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The roof was nice for sunning. The location of the hotel, on a busy shopping street, was perfect; close to La Rambla and both the modernista and gothic sections of the city. Lots of restaurants were nearby and the metro was steps away. The breakfast was varied (breads, cheeses, meats, coffee, pastries, eggs), but at 12 euros per person, absurdly expensive. We ended up eating in nearby cafes for a fraction of the cost. The WiFi in the room was not free (we paid 40 euros for six days), though the signal was less than reliable.

Really loved the hotel, it was just so perfect for all that we wanted to see and do on our short break in Barcelona. The location is superb, near but not right on Las Ramblas and two minutes walk from the main square where you get the open top tourist buses and the buses for the airport. Also close to many good shops! The hotel interior feels very new and modern and we certainly didn't hear any noise from the busy street below. I would defintely recommed Inglaterra and would stay there again when i come back to Barcelona.

This is a fantastic hotel!! Our room was quiet, bright and clean. We really enjoyed our stay in Barcelona and will go back to "Inglaterra" during our next visit. The location is great (metro, restaurants, shops and several tourist attractions are within walking distance). It was really worth asking at the reception desk about restaurants and tapas bars, and some excellent places were recommended to us. Once again, great place to stay in Barcelona.

Heterosexual couple - three night stay The Inglaterra's best attribute is its location - two blocks from the top of the Ramblas (the city's spectaclular boulevard for strolling)and Catalunya Plaza (from which all the circle-city tourist busses depart and a main subway station). These busses are an absolute MUST for first time visitors to the city - get on and off all day long to visit sights at your own pace. Inside, the Inglaterra's reception area is very small but clean. The staff was most accommodating, polite and responsible (wake ups, getting into safe deposit boxes without delay, giving really good dining recommendations, reconfirming flight reservations). The room was VERY small by U.S. standards, hardly enough room for two carry-ons and one large suitcase. But it was clean and quiet. We were only in it to change, sleep and shower. The bath towels were the biggest, fluffiest and most absorbent ones we've ever used. And yes, there was a bidet. I would recommend to the hotel that it NOT tear up the carpeting on the floor without replacing it (as staff told us the intent was to remove and not replace)- hardwood or tile floors are too cold...bring slippers, just in case. Breakfasts outside the hotel were impossible to find open before 8:30 A.M. but were 1/2 the price of the hotel fare. Really great tapas and dinner restaurants were an easy 5-10 minute walk. There are so many superbly located hotels in Barcelona, we would not stay here again only to get a new and different location. Otherwise (aside from the small room) the hotel was A- o.k.

Very happy with this hotel. Had no problem getting a non-smoking room (entire floor non-smoking). Our room faced the back so was quieter than being in the front which is on a busy street. Location very convenient to Ramblas and metro.

My partner and i stayed at the Inglaterra for three nights in February. I had booked a classic room but on arrival was offered a superior room at no extra cost as they were not to busy. This is an excelent hotel with high standards and a very friendly helpful staff. Rooms were clean and well serviced and general facilities were good. Heating and air conditioning is individually controlled. I had read some reports about noise at night time (Barcelona is a 24/7 city) but the soundproofing of rooms was very good and with the windows closed noise was not an issue. Location of the Inglaterra was perfect for us as it is only a 3-4 minute stroll to the top of Ramblas and Placa Catalunya but just far enough away from all the noise. Breakfast in the hotel is a little expensive at 12 euros but there is a good cafe/tapas bar right next door (left as you exit hotel)where you can start the day for about 5 euros. Moving around the city is simple as the hotel is located between two stations on what has to be one of the best and easy to use metro systems there is. Staff at the Inglaterra will provide maps and info.We intend to return to Barcelona later this year and this will be my first choice of accommodation. Travel Tip:- From El Prat airport take the 1A bus from right outside arrivals and get off at Universitat which is the fourth stop. As you get off the bus look straight ahead and you can see the Hotel Inglaterra sign about 100 metres away.

The location of hotel is excellent. Right on the fringe of La Ramblas, near to the dining and shopping but away from the noise and crowd. Catalunya station is only a stone throw away so getting around is convenient. Service staffs is helpful although service is generally not forthcoming in Barcelona. The staff were friendly, competent, and helpful. They tried to acclimate us to the city. The location was excellent and the price point was good. I would stay there again. My biggest complaint was that the room was very small and there was no place to put your luggage. The hotel had no luggage stands, so I had to move the night table and use it as a luggage stand. The hotel really should provide luggage stands, especially since the rooms are so small.

This hotel is ideally suited for a short visit to Barcelona. It is situated one street from the Plaça Catalunya, within easy walking distance of restaurants, the best shops and the Gothic area. The hotel itself is small but well decorated with good size rooms considering its price bracket. It could easily pass for a 4 Star hotel. We had our two teenage children with us and requested two rooms next door to each other. This was no problem. We only had breakfast on the first day in the hotel. It is a typical buffet breakfast at €12 per head. There are a number of bars locally that provided a more substantial breakfast for half the price. The one we liked the most, both for food and service, is directly beside it on the opposite corner of the street. We intend to return to Barcelona in the next 9 months and will stay at the same hotel.

Great Hotel! Great staff! Very accommodating. They had a great knowledge of the city and never disappointed with suggestions on where to go. The rooms are exactly what you would expect...great bathrooms, wireless internet access, very efficient house keeping...all good stuff. I was supposed to be in Barcelona for four days, but wound up staying for nine. Inglaterra had a lot to do with my change of plans...I felt completely at home. The hotel is in a great location...you could not be anymore central. It makes it very easy to go out and enjoy this wonderful city. Warning: You will not want to leave!

The hotel is in a fantastic location and very well priced for what you get, but we were not impressed with the snooty attitudes from Reception - don't you dare think of trying to dry some wet washing on your own terrace!!!! Excellent hotel with reasonably sized clean rooms and very helpful, friendly staff. The only problem we had was being woken up every morning at 9am by someone drilling!!! Hopefully that was just some maintenance, and apart from that the hotel was in a superb location (5 mins from the ramblas and catalunya) but in a reasonably quiet location. If you want to explore Barcelona and have a clean room to sleep in right in the city centre, you couldn't do much better than the Inglaterra.

We had an excellent stay of 4 days at Inglaterra. The room was quite spacious and very clean as was the bathroom. We had a gorgeous balcony which overlooked a side street which meant noise was kept at a minimum. The location of the hotel meant we were only a few minutes walk from the Ramblas/ Placa Catalunya and a stones throw from tapas bars, Starbucks etc.The 'university' metro stop was just around the corner also. The hotel was lovely and pretty much as represented on the website. Lucy at the front desk was a terrific help, providing me with extra pillows, a stronger hair dryer and and other requests I had upon checking in. She always had a smile on her face and nothing seemed to be too much. A terrific ambassador for the hotel. The room itself was lovely, if very small (a double for single use.) However, it had a small balcony that provided a sense of space. Decorations were quite modern and up-to-date and even though the room was small, it provided everything needed for a week long stay. The location was great, about 3 blocks off the Ramblas on a fairly quiet street. While I thought the breakfast at the hotel was pricey for the quality offered, there is a terrific tapas place right across the street where I had a great breakfast for about 5 euro. Also, there is a small grocery store down the street where you can stock up on soft drinks, bottled water and fruit without using the mini bar. The hotel has a lovely roof garden where you can catch some sun and I did notice that some people were being served drinks up there. Just know that the bar closes at 11PM and that there is only one person running the breakfast room and the bar so service in that aspect of the hotel is not terrific. Otherwise, it seemed a great find with nice accomodations in a great location. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends who travel to Barcelona.

Hi guests n this site. We stayd end of may 2004 at the inglaterra hotel and after our trip we only can say that we will stay again in this hotel. the rooms are not so big as indicated on the photos but they are absolutely ok. try to get a room not on the front side of the hotel (pelai street is permanently crowed over by traffic, try to get a room at the backside of the hotel. inglaterra is only 200 mtrs. away from plaza de catalunya and the ramblas and so you are invited to walk. also the excellent barcelona bus touristic tours starts at the plaza and it's an absolute must to join them. (buy a ticket for two days, it's much cheaper than only for one)Barcelona never sleeps, have a walk over the ramblas to the harbour, be a little bit aware of begglars and thiefs and have only a drink in the cafes there. (cafe la opera, oposite of the barcelona opera, cafe con leche only for two euros) If you like to eat, go to the bari gothic, located left from the ramblas. you'll find a lot of small restaurants with excellent sea food for small price. also visit the market (located right from the ramblas, it's amazing what you can see there. Have your lunch at the bar inside of the market, sea food at it's best. al theese and much more you can reach by feet when you stay at the inglaterra. have fun and take care, greetings Dieter & Heike

The hotel was exactly as portrayed on the web pages. Everywhere was spotlessly clean (I have a bad habit of inspecting corners/edgings etc!). The reception team were extremely helpful and polite at all times and spoke perfect english. The hotel is on a busyish street, but once inside, when you have your windows closed you hear absolutely nothing. Hotel is equidistant, 4 minute walk, from both Universitat and Catalunya metros. 2 minute walk to the top of the ramblas. Infact it's a perfect location for a short break. Would definately return.

Positive Experience Front Desk Staff Very Helpful and Friendly The quality of the breakfast is not up to the excellent standard of the hotel. (cold eggs etc.) Good central location. Easy Metro access.

Apart from other guests' door slamming, everything was at our best satisfaction! No question: whenever we will be in Barcelona, our choice will be the "Inglaterra" hotel.

It was the first time I used this web site to book a hotel room. I am very satisfied of the site quality. The given informations were correct and the descriptions true. The Inglaterra hotel is a very good hotel, well located and clean handled. People are friendly and professionnal. My wife and I were very satisfied of our stay in Barcelona.

Location of hotel was excellent, 50m from metro station and 300m from Pl. de Catalunya. Staff were very helpful, always available with useful information, rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. The only complaint would be that we booked a double room, but the only room available was a twin, although this would not stop us from recommending this hotel when visiting Barcelona

Pleasant hotel with good frendly personell which is very cooperative. People talking loadly in the corridor can be heard in the room. The lobby is very small which is a pity. The rooms and bathroom are very convenient and clean. We did not take breakfast in the hotel.

excellent hotel, rooms were very clean, asked the reception about 50 questions regarding different things and at all times they were very helpful and had good english. Hotel was just a short walk from la rambla and right beside a metro station. Would definitly stay there again when visiting Barcelona.

I really liked the hotel. The staff was well trained and we've got a lot of information about Barcelona when we checked in. The rooms were quite big and very modern, but cosy. In the surroundings there are several nice places where you can eat breakfast for 3 euros p.p. Breakfast in the hotel costs 11 euro p.p.

The Hotel was mainly booked for the location ...which was excellent (close to the main tourist area (las rambles)The Hotel was modern, clean and was in a very good state of repair...the staff were frienldy and efficient..The only comment I would make (and this is from and english point of view) If the Hotel had been in London I would have expected to get at least tea&coffee making facilities in the room or a continental breakfast for the price I paid ...other than that everything was very good

Hotel Inglaterra was fantastic - completely superceded our expectations, if we go to Barcelona again we will definitely stay here.

The general aethetic turn-out was excellent. Street noise was a problem if you wanted to sleep longer than 8 o'clock because of the busy street outside. Roommaintenance was impeccable and discreet.Howver, the breakfast service was a catastrophe, after 9 o'clock at least the young man on duty used to disappear for up to 20 minutes, a problem in a set-up, in which each cup of coffee is brewed individually. Most of the breakfast items on the buffet were no longer available anyway.

I travelled to Barcelona with my boyfriend and being as it was our first holiday together, I wanted to make sure that everything was perfect! It took a while browsing through all the reviews on Venere but I finally decided on the Hotel Inglaterra and wasn't disappointed. The location was brilliant, a two minute walk from the Place De Catalunya (packed with shops and restaurants), which is right at the top of Las Ramblas. With one of the main Metro stations and also the rail link to El Prat airport less than a five minute walk away, this hotel is a perfect base for exploring the city. I couldn't fault the hotel itself, the rooms were spotlessly clean and even though we were in a room at the front of the hotel with a balcony overlooking a busy road, we did not experience any problems with noise at all. The room was bright and airy with plenty of storage space and the bathroom was well equipped with a powerful shower. I would recommend this hotel to others and hope to make a return visit next year.

Excellent position, couple of minutes walking from Place Catalunya(bus stop for Aerobus) and Rambla. Just across the road from hotel(can get tickets for tour from reception) is a pick up for the City bus tour, usually few people using this stop, don't use the Catalunya stop, huge groups trying to get on here. Very good room service, towels etc. Only drawback is all rooms are apparently smoking rooms, this was most noticeable in our room and off-putting. Breakfast is a good buffet style with some hot food and plenty of usual bread and croisant etc. Breakfast is extra to room charge. Overall we found the hotel very good value and would use it again.

Expected something in the gothic quarter, but when we arrived off the airport bus in the centre of Barcelona and began to find our way to the hotel using the map it was on a busy street just 2 mins walk from Las Ramblas. Pretty impressive reception area - looked brand spanking new and very efficient check in which meant that we arrived in Barcelona centre at 10.30pm and were sat in a restaurant on Las Ramblas at 11pm! Rooms were basic, but very clean and modern with a lovely bathroom and power shower. We were on the 5th floor and there were doors which opened out onto a tiny balcony above the busy street, noise was immediately shut out once the double glazed doors were shut. Anyway, overall I would highly recommend this place - an excellent price and a location which cannot be beaten in my opinion. Who wants to stay right on Las Ramblas anyway?

We will use this hotel for all future trips to Barcelona. A perfect mix of luxury and value. A full length mirror inside the wardrobe doors would be a welcome addition to the rooms!

This hotel is in a great position, just off the main square and at the top of La Ramblas. The airport bus drops off in the main square so it is just a short walk to the hotel. The receptionist checked us in and gave us a map of barcellona. you can also buy tickets for the tourist bus (the best way to see barcelona, stops at all main attractions. just hop on and off when you want) at reception. The rooms were cleaned daily and the general standard was very good. Great tapas bar right next door to the hotel. Give the chinese restaurant across the road a miss though. Can't say anything about the food in the hotel as we didn't eat there, only because there are so many great places to eat in barcelona. Over all the hotel offers very good value for money and when we return to barcelona we will stay there again.
