Hotel Hostal Baires - Barcelona

The hostal is placed very centrally. Our room was small and facing a small yard but with no daylight.It was cleaned every day. There was a lot of noice during the night from a woman shouting. The breakfast was not very nourishing. Fresh bread would have helped a lot.

We had a room with bathroom included. It was cleaned every other day. We joked a bit about the breakfast since there were only two tables to sit, if they intended us to sit on the floor or something. But then we noticed that the breakfast (that were included in the price) contained of coffee and muffins, not much else, so we quickly realized that not many guests eat there. Other than that, the location is perfect, so near both the city and the harbour. Also walkingdistance to Barceloneta (the beaches). We managed a whole week almost without travelling on the metro, part from a couple of times. Overall a great hotel visit.

I was on a short late booked cruise which ended in Barcelona so there was always going to be a big difference. The continental breakfast was simple, limited in choice but not quantity. The room did have a shower and wash basin but I had not realised from the wording of your web site that the toilet facilites were shared. The staff were very helpfull and the manager spoke very good English. The room was on the first floor and had a balcony but the sun will never ever reach it because if the narrowness of the streets in the Barri Goric area of Barcelona. Inevitably these narrow streets also make for noise. The location is however excelent for getting around and seeing the numerous sights. THE HOSTEL'S DECORATION WAS IN VERY POOR CONDITION. The price was right for my purposes and the HOSTEL did not detract from my experience of Barcelona. What did was being spat on by a Spaniard when I came down from Montjuic by the wrong route into a poor neighbourhood. This may have been an attempt to mug me but I managed to rush out of the area back on to the main roads with out injury or loss. Barcelona is a wonderfull city of Art, Architechture, History and general Culture so if price is a major concideration for any traveller this hostel will solve the problem.
