Hotel HLG City Park Pelayo - Barcelona

AC was not working. Hotel Staff did not want to move us to another room (one staff said they'd move us at the end of the day, later on, the afternoon staff said it was not possible and that AC was off on entire building). Room was very stuffy and hot. We had to open a window and it was very noisy due to street. Very uncomfortable bed. The hotel was in a convenient location but I will never stay there again and will discourage others to do the same.

Stayed in Barcelona for four days for a city break. Excellent location. Traffic noise from busy road may not be for everyone but did not particularly bother me.

Very good hotel both for tourism and for business. Staff, especially Oscar, very helpful. Very near to Plaça de Catalunya and to Universitad metro station (30 seconds walk).

the were no handles in the windows, so it was not possible to open them and have natural air.

The staff were very helpful and informing and welcoming .

Although this was a non smoking room, it smelt of old cigarettes - on complaint no room deodorizer was available. The breakfast was very poor quality. However, the rooms were adequate in size but only single beds, and the hotel was very close to the center of the city

room 401 wonderful, bath very clear and spacious. Breakfast very "minimalist": no coffee and very few things to eat.

There are not parking , I search the parking four night 50€ more expensive that's the hotel

the bed is too smaller! No italian channels on the Television.

We stayed at Pelay's 3 nights.The rooms are nice, clean and well decorated but very small: the kids slept in triple room where they could hardly open the wardrobes and had no place for luggage. The double was even smaller as we had the minum space to walk around the bed, (not to speak of the bathroom!) which is ok if you are out all day sightseeing but not very confortable.There is no common area as such to compensate the lack of space in the rooms (if we don't consider two sofas in the basement!). The breakfast lounge is gloomy, located in the basement,no service,a coffe/tea dispenser which I personally hate but plenty of choice of fresh fruit and food. On the other hand the hotel is in a good position, near the main attractions, reachable by car (parking-lot nearby) and next to metro station. Staff friendly. A good pricevalue.

The location is superb, very close to Plaza Catalunya and surrounded by shops, cafe, restaurants, etc. The staffs are very friendly and helpful and the room was nice. However, I found that the price is a bit too expensive compared to the room I got. Wifi only available at the lobby but the staff will help you to print your boarding card for free

The location of this hotel was excellent.It was only a 5 minute walk from Le Ramblas. It was welcolming and freindly. Rooms were clean and comfortble. The only thing that could have been better was the air con which was a bit weak. We also needed an iron as we were attending a wedding! I would definitely reccommend this hotel.

Don't go there- very Bad experience. My wife and I stayed at Hotel Pelai 1 - City Park (not Hotel Pelayo) in Barcelona between 3-6 of July 2011. Throughout the four days we stayed in this hotel we didn’t have any hot water to shower. We asked the reception several times to take care of the problem but we came across Bad and indifference Attitude and abusive comments, aimed mainly to buy time until our check out. The room we stayed at was very very small, with a small window that can't be opened and the air conditioning is weak. The hotel is in good location for those who like to be in the most visited areas in Barcelona. We paid 72 € per night - not worth the money.

The room is called a triple, but the 3rd bed was not a bed, but a pull-out chair which was so uncomfortable that the person could not sleep well all night. The regular bed was just fine. The Internet was only available from the lobby. THe staff were helpful in getting information on restaurants, flamenco tickets, distance to areas, etc. The bathroom was spacious by European standards.

We have booked a triple room in this hotel for our first stay in Barcelona. We were looking for a hotel at short walking distance from the old city, the Ramblas and the shopping, but not too close to avoid the noise at night, and at a reasonable price for 3 adults. This hotel perfectly matched our expectations ! The french-speaking lady at the reception made us feel welcome and accepted to keep our luggage even before our room was ready for check-in (we arrived early in the morning) and after check-out, until we departed for the airport. The Calle Pelai is relatively quiet (one-way street) for a city like Barcelona and we could sleep well. Our room was well suited for us (a couple with an older child), the beds were good but a bit hard. We were able to walk from the hotel to all the places we visited: the Sagrada Familia (20 minutes), the Ramblas (2 minutes), the seaside and beaches (30 minutes). Otherwise the metro station is close (2 minutes walk). Overall a perfect choice for us, we will definitely return there next time we visit Barcelona again.

We must have been given the worst room in the hotel: I have stayed in hostels and YMCAs (back in the day) where the rooms were larger, the beds were better, and the street noise was less. Stay here only for the location, which is great, but expect a lousy night's sleep. I honestly think they gave us such a terrible room because I had prepaid. Don't make that mistake.

Hotel veramente carino, camere spaziose,pulizia ottima,personale gentile ed ubicazione perfetta. Lo consiglio davvero, sicuramente se dovessi tornare a Barcellona allogerei qui. Consigliatissimo!!!!!!!!!

Excellent location! Just steps to the Universitat & Catalunya metros and 5 minutes to Las Ramblas. Room was small but adequate for a short stay. Breakfast was a selection of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt & fresh fruits. My only complaint was that the bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke when we first arrived and the hot water was sporadic at times. The front desk staff was very helpful in finding restaurants and recommending attractions.

Nice hotel near public plaza for mass transit.

Location is great (Catalunya). Hotel is expensive for what it is (NB: the price during the weekend is higher). But after I read all the other hotels and comments (lack of cleanliness, bad neighbourhood etc), this is probably ok. The only three real problems are: 1) you can not open the window, 2) it is noisy from the street, 3) air conditioning is very very weak.

I loved my stay in Barcelona! The hotel is situated in a highly convenient place as most of the city attractions are nearby. This was the first time I stayed at Hotel Citypark Pelayo and I hope I will be back asap!
