We were very welcomed. Requested extra bed for our kid was ready. Also checked in earlier. We did not have meal at Hotel Regente.

The Hotel is not a 5-min. walk from Catalunya Sq.--more like 20 mins. The room was miniscule--certainly NOT worth the price. For the amount I pre-paid, breakfast was not included--not even coffee and bread! All of the Hotel desk clerks were excellent EXCEPT for a young woman who was on Sun., June 7 in the afternoon and evening; she was very abrupt and not friendly--the antithesis of everyone else I interacted with during my 4-night stay.

The hotel is situated up in Gracia on a very nice tree lined street only one over from the main shopping street in town. There are plenty of outdoor cafes and tapas bars right in the area and the rooms are some of the biggest we have stayed in while in Europe. We could see the top Sagrada Familia from our room, were around the corner from the Casa Battlo and down the street from two of his other buildings so if you like Gaudi - this is a great spot to be in. Oh and while the pool was small the roofdeck was still a great perk!

Very friendly welcome, hotel is ideally located near shopping, restaurants, and many of the city's attractions. We had a room on the 7th floor with a balcony views over the city, which was quiet. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

We arrived relatively early on a saturday morning, and there was only one person behind the desk, engaged in a telephone conversation. There was no bell service to assist with the luggage, even though there were 7 steps from the street to the lobby. Despite this less than stellar welcome, I have recommended this hotel to other cruisers, because the rooms are clean and modern, and the location is ideal for tourists, within walking distance to many of Barcelona's attractions, and the subway for those not in walking distance was only a block away. Breakfast is overpriced for the offerings, but there are ample restaurants and cafe's up and down the street.

When I arrived we were allocated a horrible room, tiny with no view from the window (just a metal shutter) and hardly any natural light. We complained and were immediately offered a lovely room facing the main street with a large en-suite and a beautiful balcony. Whilst I was away I had my purse stolen when sight-seeing (please be aware of pick-pockets) and when I returned to my hotel the staff could have been a little more understanding. They didn't offer a complimentary drink or meal even though they knew our money had been taken. On the day we left the manager offered to loan us some money. However, this was too little too late in my opinion. Overall, this is not an outstanding 4* hotel, but if you get the right room it is very pleasant and the area is nice, a 10 minute stroll to Placa Catalunya. The website should say that the pool is open only in the main summer months.

Excellent location away from the crowds in the Barrio Gotico but still close to the action. Had a very large room, view of Barcelona and yet quiet. Outside of building does retain modernisme architecture, but the inside has been gutted and does not have any of the charm of that era. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would definitely recommend it to others, although many less expensive places are available in Barcelona.

Poor air conditioning in actual rooms. Otherwise, a pleasant stay in a pleasant area of London.

The hotel was generally ok-the rooms were fine, breakfast was pretty good, location just as we wanted and most of the staff were friendly . The pool was tiny, and it was a bit annoying that the downstairs bar closed at or before 11pm. We thought that the hotel was expensive for its standard, and it was hard to see what extra you got for the money. We would have expected at least a bar that served drinks beyond 11pm!

I would definitely stay at Regente the next time I visit Barcelona. My room was spacious and it overlooked Rambla de Catalunya. Breakfast was not included but the price was reasonable (126 Euro). Free internet access using Wi-Fi in your room. Bathroom had a tub with a showerhead.

The hotel was very well located but... the swimming pool on the roof was very misleading; the actual pool was hardly bigger than a bathtub! Also, although the room was comfortable, it was in no way exceptional, which we had hoped it would be given the cost and description.; it was just a small twin bedroom which could have been anywhere in the world. I had hoped for something more luxurious and "historic", given the hotel description and prices.

5 star hotel so well located, in a wounderful building but with poor charm, poor service (no room service and no space in the room) except breakfast.....the worst thing was to pay for the safe in the room!!!!

A little overpriced for an average hotel. The location was good but not great. One of the main reasons for staying here was the rooftop pool. Unfortunately, we didn't find out til we got there that it was closed until further notice. Make sure you call before hand to determine if it's open. Also, the breakfast wasn't included and cost 16 euro for an average breakfast.

Although location was good, hotel public areas OK, staff helpful, buffet breakfast good, thought our room was very disapointing - it was behind the lift shaft, and looked out on a ventilation shaft, complete with noisy pipes, and no idea of weather conditions as you couldn't even see one glimpse of sky, even if you stuck your head out of the window! (We should have known when they told us it was Room 101....) This cost us about £80 a night, and wasn't worth it.

Good quality, in line with expectations. One observation: a) room's window on an internal, dark environment. Not otherwise specified, but ...

We had no complaints about the hotel. It's always a gamble when you make a decision from the internet, and this time we felt very good about our choice. The staff was very friendly and helpful (especially since we do not speak Spanish!). At first I was concerned about noise, as our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Las Rambles, but we had no trouble falling asleep. The location was ideal for shopping and touring by foot, and also the Metro station was very convenient. It was a little more expensive than some of our other experiences in Europe, but from a comparison standpoint, worth the extra $ for the pool and customer service, and definitely a bargain compared to other hotels in the area.
