According to Venere's description of what we paid for, we did not receive it. Double Montcada Pleasure! We were given a very small room, where we were not able to walk around the bed, and hardly open our suitcase. And a window to the hall. When complaining, we received another room for the next day. But no jacuzzi and other things included, except the chamgagne and strawberries

On my second visit to Barcelona after many years, I was very impressed by the enormous improvements - urban development, infrastructure, etc. The hotel is ideally situated for walking around the charming old town centre and there is an excellent tourist sightseeing bus with a superb commentary in nearly all langauages. I would recommend taking the two-day option to get an overview of the many sights and sites to see, using the second day to hop on and hop off to view the places of particular interest on foot. The breakfast in the hotel is excellent - though a little expensive. But there are innumerable excellent restaurants, little bars and coffee houses within easy walking distance. All in all, my wife and I had a most pleasant stay and we will certainly return.

Hotel in great position, easy access to old city, shops & restaurants. We opted for the pleasure package room option and the hot tub/champagne was the highlight of our stay. Also breakfast was included in the price and we all agreed it was the best buffet breakfast we had ever been offered. Would definitely stay there again.

we arrived at the hotel after travelling for almost two days to find out that the original check in time that was offered on the website of 12pm was 3pm (we arrived in Barcelona at 8am) we complained and said that we needed the room earlier as we needed to shower and change, we managed to get the room at 12pm, but once in the room we found that the hotel had no hot water. We were told that it wouldn't be long before it was returned and that we would be receiving a phone call to advise that all was working, unfortunately we did not receive any call and did not have any hot water till 2pm the following day. We payed extra for the romantic offer but didn't get anything extra till the following day when we questioned the staff about it, they of course had forgotten to give us our voucher to redeem champagne and strawberries. the front of the hotel smelt like sewage the entire time. we did not have a very plesant stay. we would not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.

Overall a very good quality Hotel in a good location close to Romblas and other city attractions. Staff very knowledgeable regarding city, friendly and keen to help. Rooftop Sunset Bar a must do.
Spain, Jul 2008
Positive: Stayed for a quick weekend and great choice as easy to find, great location in the heart of the city so could just walk around. Rooms light, clean and equipped. Terrace has great views and good to relax in (though in eve much in the shade). Even able to leave luggage and stop for a drink late afternoon on departure day. Negative: Windows in rooms do not open, breakfast room underground and should be informed that if hotel orders a taxi for you you will be charged for the privelage.

Two chairs in a double room isn't too much to ask, is it? Otherwise - good location, overall quite a nice hotel. As a three nights' stay is much too short for Barcelona, we'll be back!

We have lived in Double Montcada Pleasure B&B Room. This modern room was very clean, beds are perfect, own safe on the room - free of charge. Perfect and well designed bath room. The continental breakfast was plenty, eggs, fruits, sweets, cold meats, juice...everything. Enjoy the sunsrise and sunset on the roof terrace with whirl pool. All rooms have an air-condition. If you like to open the window, ask the desk. The hotel is perfect located in the heart of old town - 1 minute to go to metrostation Jaume I. We would be come back again ...

i choosed this hotel because of the lounge outside. unfortunately both were closed for cleaning the whole week - so we can not use this was the only bad thing. the hotel is situated very near to all sightseening points and in the evening it is so nice to walk out of the hotel and have choice of so many bars and restaurants nearby. we enjoyed our trip very much.

The Hotel is in a Superb location for getting around the city quickly, plus it is in walking distance of a lot of the major attractions. Warm & Friendly welcome from the staff. Good choice of food at Breakfast. The only down side was not enough staff on. Staff were covering others jobs at the same time.

Tidy and clean rooms, not very large, but OK bath. Very nice and helpful staff. Good varied breakfast. Views from rooms varies a lot, depending on which floor you get. Make sure you can use a few minutes to take in the sight of all of Barcelona from the roof terrace, we enjoyed it even with rain, thunder and lightning. I think we got a good price, the hotel seemed better than what we payed for!

The hotel is not so bad but I was supprised how small the room was.I can not open the suitscase easily. The receptionists are very nice and kind to us.I feel comfortable with them.I would like to use the jacuzzi but it was broken at that time.It was pitty.

I was anticipating a hotel of lesser quality since I have found European hotels are usually overrated. However; I was very pleasantly surprised. The location was great! I am so glad we did not choose Las Ramblas way too noisy! We had dinner at the hotel on our second night since we found it difficult to find a restaurant we liked within walking distance. The food and presentation was great. The breakfast was very extensive, hot and cold and was also excellent. The sun deck on the roof was a great addition. Great view. Great chairs, bar, coffee bar A great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. I would highly recommend this hotel! Thank You,

This was our first stay at Hotel H10 Montcada. A perfectly situated hotel with walking distance to many popular attractions. The service was excellent. The rooms are small, but very nice. However, you don't travel to Barcelona to spend time in your hotel room... There are so many other things to do! We recommend eating tapas at restaurant Taller de Tapas, a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Delicious!

We were six female friends staying in Barcelona for a weekend. The location of the hotel was perfect. All the emploes were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very rich and tasteful. We could walk to all the places of interest and there were very nice restaurants in the neighborhood. The rooms though were very small and there were only twinbeds. Therefor I find the price a little high.

Room given was on top floor and was internal. Was very warm when we arrived (1.00 am in morning) and air con not working. Had to get porter up to open window. Next morn told staff of air con prob and they didn't seem aware of problem but did get it fixed. They dismissed any room change. Generally room was smallish but that may be true of any city centre rooms. Otherwise I would go back but ask not to be put in 807.

My aching back, shoulders and hips -- the beds in this place are as hard as cement! Although it is clean, in a great location and Frank the Bell Hop is a breath of fresh air compared to the stand-offish Front Desk Staff, little of it matters if you can’t get a good night’s sleep on your vacation!

Hotel was perfect as a somewhere to sleep at night if you were out sight seeing all day and all you want is a base. Rooms very clean, big enough for two (though not very big), location was perfect, so near everything in the city centre. Only draw back was, as it was in the city centre it was very noisy at night. If you are booking try and request the back of the hotel, not the front or side. Definitely would go back here and recommend it, it is in the heart of the city centre, 10 mins walk away from La Ramble, loads of restaurants near by, Metro is right across the road. One thing though, do not get breakfast in the hotel, it costs 15 euros per person and you can walk across the street to a coffee shop, 'Cappucino' and get coffee and pastries for two for about 8 euros and it is lovely freshly baked produce.

double room hardly be big enough for a single person ! Les chambres doubles auraient peine à passer pour des individuelles ! Die Doppelzimmer wären auch für einen Einzelgast ziemlich eng! Perfect beds for Pygmy - les lits parfaits pour des pygmées - Betten ideal für Zwerge ! Dining room in the lobby - Salle à manger dans le hall d'accueil - Abendessen in der Eingangshalle ! But the location is very good - mais la situation est idéale - aber die Lage ist Top !

The hotel was fantastic, beautiful and clean. The rooms were nicely decorated and i loved the marble bathroom. The shower was hot and powerful too.. perfect! The staff were very helpful and very friendly. We felt very welcomed by all of the staff. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The directions to the hotel provided on the website were confusing. The time it took us to walk from Place Cataluyna to the hotel was at least double what was quoted and i noticed there was a metro station 2 minutes from the hotel called Jaume. I think it was on the yellow line of the metro map.

The hotel is located in an ideal part of the city for buses, metro or just walking, the Ramblas or Waterfront are both about 5-10mins. The hotel was very comfortable and much as described in the brochure and we did get the complimentary drinks. Two minor points, some rooms can be rather small and noise from the steets at night can be a problem, something to get used to when visiting a city which hardly sleeps. We would quite happily use this hotel again and Venere 8/10

Me and my daughter enjoyed our stay. The only thing we did not like was that the hot tub on the roof closed at 9 PM. That seemed too early. We did not get to try it(we stayed there in march). The breakfast was very good value, very good buffet breakfast, lots of fruit, fresh juices, pastries, local cold cuts and cheeses. The hotel was very clean.

We arrived about 9.30 on Wednesday evening 25th March and checked in without being offered the promised welcome drink. Although room 807 was well equipped it was so very small. It was obvious in the morning that this room would need the light on all the time. There was one very small window and no window in the bathroom. It was very quiet because it was situated at the rear of the hotel. Not being at all happy with this we asked for a change and moved to a much larger twin bedded room with three windows and an opening window in the bathroom. Obviously much noisier being at the front of the hotel but far superior, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The choice at breakfast was extensive providing a range of cold, continental style and hot dishes. The hotel is in an excellent position for exploring the Gothic Quarter and within minutes there are many restaurants and bars. The metro station is almost on the doorstep and buses pass the door. Our three night stay was not enough to explore this beautiful city and we intend to return but not to room 807.

Our two-day stay was great except the room was tiny (approx 100 euro per night - we booked in the last week which meant prices were higher). The bathroom was a good size but the room itself was ridiculously tiny. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel restaurant so I can't comment. The location was pretty spot on. We felt safe walking around the area at around 10 at night. The hotel is a two-minute walk to Barri Gothic and because the hotel is on a main road, we felt safe walking to and from our hotel. The staff were friendly and spoke English well. They were very happy to offer sight-seeing suggestions.

A very smart hotel.Room was larger than it looked in photo.Excellent value for money. Able to walk from Catalunya Square but 10-15mins with case rather than 5mins quoted! The Hotel was located within walking distance to the main attractions and the underground was just accross the road and is really cheap and easy to use. The rooms were very clean and modern. Shower really nice. City guide available in the room. Breakfast was also excellent. Good variety. Would definately return here on our next visit to Barcelona.

I had stayed at the Hotel Suizo opposite the Montcada on my previous visit and was fairly disappointed. Although Suizzo is a star less, it could well be several stars less as there is a vast difference in service, overall standard, and the even the minibar had plentiful selection in Montcada unlike Hotel Suizo that had only beer, fanta and water to offer. I booked the Double Montcada Pleasure room, which came with breakfast, his and hers goody bags, slippers, and champagne with strawberrys, chocolate and cream, all for only around 20 euros more than the standard double room. We were presented with a glass of champagne on arrival and the friendliness and standard of service was excellent. Also free internet service in the modern decorated lobby/bar area with two computers available. It was a great 4 days stay, thoroughly recommend this hotel and will return there on my next visit to Barcelona! Could not fault it. Will be staying at another of the H10 group's hotels in the Costa del Sol shortly as I saw it in their brochure in the room.

excellent Location in Barcelona. 10 Seconds to the next Metro Station. Several minutes to Ramblas, seaport and Placa Catalunya. Very big bathroom and overall a very very clean room. The hotel was really nice, On arrival we were greeted and offered a glass of cavos which was a nice touch. On enetering the room we were dissapointed as it was tiny. We inspected the fire evacuation sheet and by the plans we seen that the room was possibly the smallest in the hotel with no external view. I went down to see if there was a possibility of re-locating us into another room and was told to come down in the morning. As we only stayed for two nigts and got pretty drunk that night we did not make it up for 9am so we decided to leave the relocation. Apart from this the actual location of the hotel was spot on.

The location was excellent! The room was really small, so small that my wife got a bruise when trying to get around the bed. We were welcomed with open hands and a glass of champagne. The breakfast buffet was very nice. The area was quiet, yet very near to most of the action (La Ramblas, Columbus Statue, and Catalunya)and sites (Gothic Quarter, Picasso, etc). We did a hop on/hop off tour bus which was very convenient and nice. We would definately stay there again but try to get a slightly bigger room.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. The hotel is a little gem with friendly staff. It is perfectly situated for sight-seeing being close to but not in the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas. The facilities were very good with fitness room, jacuzzi on roof with spectacular views of city, free internet access in lobby to plan next stage of our hols. Rooms are not very big but are comfortable, though the bathroom was bigger than we expected. Buffet breakfast was excellent with more than enough to keep us going till later in the evening. We did not try the restaurant, choosing to eat out but room service was very good. We stayed on fourth floor and did not hear any street noise. We booked the Montcada Pleasure and found the strawberries/chocolate and champagne (Cava) a nice welcoming touch. We would highly recommend this hotel.

A very good hotel, in an excellent location in the Gothic area of Barcelona. Helpful staff, all able to speak decent English; really good buffet style breakfasts; lovely rooftop spa bath (make use of the service & enjoy a bottle of cava there!); clean, good size room - not a great view, but ok for a city hotel. Tube station 50 metres over the road; tourist bus stop nearby; absolutely loads of fabulous bars & restuarants within easy walking distance. Definitely recommended & would stay there again. We were pleasently suprised, as everyone advised us to stay on Las Rambles we were so glad we didnt as the montacada was much better located. So close to everything but not as noisy and claustraphobic as Las Rambles. We stayed at the start of July nd even though the hotel was fully booked the roof top terrace was not packed and we got to use the hot tub loads of times. We wouldnt look for anywhere to stay if we went to Barcelona again.

Lets get the negative out of the way as it was mosly my fault. I signed up, got a great rate, needed another day, and had to start all over again; at that point, the price of the room went up quite a few Euro and I lost my first days. I bet I should have just singed on for one day at the hotel, but it was not availalbe with the Venere service - only was when I started all over again from the beginnin. Needing the extra day cost me about $40 Euro a day. The rooms ARE small, to write on tha desk you sit on the bet in my case - but I really didn't mind. The bed IS hard - and it took some to get used to. BUT.. I did. The service here, the food, the little welcoming when you come, the help of the people at the desk, the breakfast, and bathrooms in the space, the view from upstairs, the location, the attitude of the staff, all were just outstanding!!! When in Roma a few days later I was at a hotel with a stronger rating, and it was not nearly as nice as this hotel. It was lovely! So is Barcelona - and here you are near the cathedral, another lovely church down the block, (Our lady of Mura?) - wonderful street vendors down side blocks, the market, wonderful cafes and resturants, and a quick subway or taxi drive anywhere. This hotel had both the friendliness and the welcoming of the people of Barcelona - I look forward to stayiing there again when I return. And even though it cost me a bit extra with my changes later on - it was well worth it. Helpful in every way - its a very nice place to stay. You feel special.

We stayed here for 2 nights before our honeymoon cruise. We loved the location which is in the heart of the Gothic quarter only steps from the Jaume 1 train stop and several historic sites. The staff were helpful at pointing us to some good restaurants (tapas at sagrada and others). The room was very nice with a great bathroom tiled from floor to ceiling. The spacious and strong shower was also very nice. The bed was very confortable and the room quaint. The room size was about what I'd expect of a big city (Manhatten). The buffet breakfast was excellent and the free internet and printer in the lobby was a huge plus. Our only dissappointment was that the hottub on the roof top was closed when we were there, despite the staff telling us at check in that it would be open. All-in-all, an excellent place to stay at a reasonable price.

We only got to stay one night, but we wish it were longer in this hotel. Top rate from the stylish rooms to the complimentary cava to the excellent views on the rooftop. A++ accomodations and we will definitely stay here again if ever get back to Barcelona.

Cannot fault anything about our stay at H10 Montcada. The staff and facilities were excellent and is just as described on the website. The welcoming champagne on arrival is a lovely touch.

Location was excellent, good value, great breakfast buffet, pleasant staff, overall we had a great stay although the room was a bit small but we just had to squeeze closer together, how bad!

Welcoming hotel - who always greeted with a smile, and went out of their way to check all was well; without being Intrusive... Breakfast was fantastic - both for Choice and Quality, and service was good at all points. Location is excellent (100 Yards from Tube) and the Room (average in size) and the Bathroom (Large in size) were spotless. Recommended - both as a single Hotel, and as a Chain.

Excellent location across the road from the Barri Gotic area, perfect for a city break for couples/friends, no young children or loud teenagers/young adults, excellent breakfast buffet, well appointed accommodation, friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Would go back again.Excellent value.Have stayed in similar hotels in Barcelona which were twice the price.

Above average 4 Star - very modern and nice decor. Excellent service and helpful staff. The welcome drink is a nice touch. The location is great - Ramblas and Catalunya are close by. Great value - Euro 80 for the basic double room, even if it was midweek in February. Only quibble was ventilation - the windows could not be opened and the air conditioning did not seem to working properly.

Very great hotel. Room was little but very clean and quiet. Position is excellent, just 2 minute walk from Cathedral and opposite metro Jaume I. Barrio gotico is a strategic point to visit all the most important sites in the city and there you can find a lot of wonderful restaurants. Service is excellent too (welcoming with a glass of champagne); breakfast close at 10.30 a.m. and if you arrive at 10.25 you must be very fast 'cause restaurant really close in 5 minutes... Anyway, I think I'll stay in this hotel every time I'll come back in Barcelona.

hotel in very good location. room clean. Disappointed no iron in room. breakfast excellent. we booked double montcada pleasure room thinking it was a bigger room but it wasnt. It was merely extra services which are not worth the extra money paid for the service. Overall stay was good.

Best location in Barcelona, safe, walking distance to the ports, the beach, la Rambla, the cathedral and the old city. Pleasantly suprised by the friendly staff, very clean soundproof rooms and bathroom facilities, on the negative its not cheap and the rooms are quite small: I had a twin just for me and was happy to have booked that one size bigger... But hey± you´re in Barcelona!

Perfect location - in the best part of the Gothic Quarter, right next to the Borne district, metro across the street. Room was very clean and comfortable - great bed and bathroom. We had a 4th floor room on the street - traffic was not too noisy during sleeping hours, although there was the occasional yeller. Abundant and tasty breakfast.

There was aproblem when we arrived. Some rooms were out of service - said to be due to a power failure. The Hotel had arranged for us to stay one night at the Hotel Mont Blanc, which was a 10 minute walk away. One of the reception staff helped us with our luggage, and to check in. The next morning we went to the H10 for breakfast. Whilst I would have preferred this not to have happened, it was handled well and the substite hotel was good. The H10 Montcada was very enjoyabe and well located - especially for the Fish restaurants in the Marina area. The only minor irritation was the noise from late night revellers in the road ourside - perhaps some sound insulation would help!

Although in-room internet access was advertised, it was not available in our room and employees were unable to provide proper connection (DSL modem). We used the computers in the lobby. Breakfast provided was excellent. Coffee was excellent. Breakfast room clean and bright. Window frame in room needs more sound insulation. Bathrooms were a delight. Great water pressure and large shower. Magnifying make-up mirror height should be adjustable so as to use it sittng down or standing up. In general, we greatly enjoyed our stay.

I would thoroughly recommend the H10 Montcada for a stay in Barcelona. The staff were very welcoming and competent, and the glass of champagne on arrival was a nice touch. Previous reviews had stated that rooms were on the small side but ours was a good size. The bathroom was spotless and well stocked with nice toiletries and the shower was lovely. Although not stated by Venere, breakfast was included and was fantastic. There was a huge selection of hot and cold items and the service was excellent. The location of the hotel is excellent. The metro station is just across the road and a lot of tourist attractions are within easy walking distance. On the whole a very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay there again.

Generally a very pleasant stay. Reception staff were polite and I liked the idea of free internet facilities. However I found 3 Euro per day for use of a strong box hefty.

The room was spacious and bright, the staff helpful and the location excellent for seeing all of the sites in Barcelona. The only negative point I could state is that the safe facilities in the rooms were out of use and there was a daily charge for leaving valuables in the hotel safe.

The Hotel is in as new condition throughout with high quality fixtures and fittings that are complimented by first class facilities such as the gym jaccuzzi and free internet access. Staff are knowledgable and were extremely helpful in sorting out the aftermath of the street robbery we suffered. The breakfast room is too small to cope at peak times but the quality of food and the efficiency of the staff made the short wait we were asked to make well worthwhile. Our only concern was that the bar closed at 11.00pm, unhelpfully early given that few restauarants are open bedore 9.00pm in Barcelona The Hotel is in an excellent position for many sites the roof provides a splendid panorama of Barcelona. This hotel can be booked with confidence

The jacuzzi on the roof was awesome and I can only describe the breakfast as extensive and rapidly replenished. The barman had no idea how much should be in a measure of Pastis (40% proof aperitif), so he gave me about eight times what he should have! The location of the hotel was fine for all the tourist spots (I would recommend going to Gaudi's Parc Guil). Barcelona was a fantastic trip and the Montcada definately made the stay more comfortable.

Everything about our stay was first class. In the write up, it was stated that some of the rooms were "dainty" but we were fortunate and the room was ideal. The breakfast was excellent and we would certainly recommend the restaurant for dinner.

Breakfast was lovely at this hotel, rooms were of average size, ideal location for any tourist, minutes walk to entertainment, marina, shops, las ramblas and airport bus pick up point - (playa de catalyna).

The hotel was very well located on the main road between Plaza Catalunya and the seafront running paralell to Las Ramblas in the heart of the Gothic Quarter virtually opposite the Cathedral. It is very well situated for lots of the main tourist sites, museums and restaurants with good travel connections via the metro or tourist bus to those lying further afield such as La Sagrada Famiglia. The hotel staff were welcoming and efficient. As with most Spanish Hotels the 4 star rating is slightly misleading when compared to International hotels in other parts of the world. The basics are more or less there but somehow it lacks charm or character. However by Barcelona hotel costs/standards it represents value for money and for a short city break is perfectly acceptable. Its location again being its trump card. All in all a satisfactory rather than exhilirating hotel experience.
