We stayed in a twin room with an extra bed (parents and a child of 10) The room was quite small, but fully corresponding to the description we found on the website and to the comments of other guests. We chose this hotel for the good ratio quality/price, particularly in relation to its location in the centre of Barcelona. Now we can say it was a good choice.

First time to BCN. the bad beds really spoiled our stay, more 1908 than 2008, esp the 3rd 'sofabed'! being winter we had the dbl glazed window closed so the air-con noise at rear did not trouble us much, try a front room. welcome 'buffet' tea undrinkable, but coffee & cakes ok, likewise get own teabags for room. 2 powercuts during stay, luckily not long ones, bring/buy torches. did not like strong disinfectant smell from lift area (drains?). bathroom locks itself apparently, use pen insert to open, don't shut door if inside on your own!. just across placa from airport bus which is why i chose it. supermarket around cnr to right. good value 'happy' restaurant, next block up to left.

We stayed 1 night in Barcelona before our transatlantic cruise. I had booked a double room, expecting a double or queen sized bed. The room was very small with two single beds which could not be joined. The desk clerk stated initially that there were no other rooms available. However, he did some further checking and without extra cost, he gave me a beautiful room facing Catalunya Plaza, with a balcony, two single beds together, and a washroom with a bidet. The room was beautiful and surprisingly quiet. The cost of $100 euro was good considering the fantastic location in the core of the city. The H10 is right on the metro line and within walking distance to 3 Gaudi attractions and La Rambla.

My only comment would be that after November 1, no matter what the outside temperature, they change the air conditioning to heat.

€175 for a 2,4 m * 3 m double room is NOT acceptable - just a closet size with no view - this was a very small single room! When complaining they just told all rooms were small and no other rooms available. When booking in advance you expect to get something better when you pay €175 a night for a double room! If we had got a room like the one in the pictures, we would never have complained. The location for the hotel is very good, and the view from the breakfast room great - the offered breakfast as well (they didn't charge us!)

We stayed for 3 nights and had a room on the street side of the building with a little balcony viewing Pl. Catalunya. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. 1 minute walk to La Rambla and Pg. Gracia, Metro stop right in front of the hotel, Citie's biggest department store is right on the other side of the Plaza. They offer discounted rate for hotel guests to use the public parking garage next door which we found it very convenient. Definitely will come back!

The hotel was fabulous. There were 3 of us traveling and the room was plenty big enough. It was very clean and looked just like it did in the pictures. It is an excellent location, as it is walking distance to many things. If not in walking distance, it is a very quick ride on the subway, which is located right outside the hotel. We had a great stay. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

My experience (with the hotel) and ratings might have been different if my daughter’s teddy bear was not taken from the room two nights before leaving. When I reported that to the reception (four different receptionists) I was treated with complete apathy, telling me that it was probably in the bed linen. I asked them to call the laundry company and tell me whether the teddy bear was indeed accidentally misplaced in the linen but until I left the hotel (two nights after the incident) they were not able to give me an answer. I specifically asked them, on check out, to call me and let me know what happened, but that of course that never happened. I do not know about you but when I rent a hotel room I expect to have all my things on check out and of course I expect from the personnel to pay attention to my complaints as a customer. I would NOT recommend this hotel or any other H10 hotel. By the way, that teddy bear was of great sentimental value to my daughter, as it was given to her as a present by her uncle, 6 years ago when she had an operation in London.

The hotel was great for a short stay in Barcelona with easy access to/from the airport. The rooms were small but located in such a central location it was good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel - especially for access to the main tourist area of Barcelona, cheap food for families and access to transport.

We are impressed by the hotel. Stayed in a quiet, back side triple room. Large enough. Best part is its location. High price/quality ratio. Breakfast buffet for 8€ is also very good. Free internet on the first floor. Public parking is very close to the hotel but rather expensive.

Me and 3 of my friends went to here for my stag weekend. Absolutly brilliant location to everything and was very clean and modern. I would definitly recommend it to any age group weather its for young or old couples. Excellant all round hotel. Very quiet indeed and if you want to, there is a lovely bar just at the entrace of the hotel where you can have a quiet beer or coffee and watch the heart of the city walk by as you do. 5 star *****

On arrival there was no record of the Venere booking - but the staff handled the situation well using my hardcopy documentation as proof of booking. They gave us a good spacious room immediately and allowed us to stay in that room for the 4 days. This is an excellent location - very central and a nice hotel.

Location was perfect, but the room was amazingly small (and we are used to small European rooms). Seriously, there was a twin bed (though we booked for 2 people) 2 feet at the end of the bed, and 3 feet on one side only. There was no space even to put our bags w/o tripping on them. For the price, the room was way too small. PS I did notice one other room, which was a little larger, so we may have just received a bad room. Stay away from room 402!

having read some bad comments before, I 've been more than positively impressed by the hotel. The rooms are indeed small, and you'll probably be in a room on the back if boking with venere rates. But the location is ideal (down the ramblas), the rooms are nice, clean and quiet. The very pretty breakfast room located in the first floor has large bay windows with a wonderful view. Last but not least, it was the best breakfast buffet I've seen for many years, and not really expensive (8 €/pers.). Public parking with exit just in front of the hotel, rate around 14 €/day

[Good Points] 1.Staff were friendly and kind. 2.Room was clean. 3.Loation was absolutely perfect. Nearest station is just in front of the hotel. You can go to book store and spermarket in 5 minutes' walk. It is possible to go to many of tourist attractions by foot. [Bad point] Sometimes, I was annoyed by the noise of speaking voices from hallway.

I was travelling with my wife and we have a four-night visit (Wed-Sat) in Barcelona. The rooms we stayed were clean, but pretty small: the room rate of Venere.com is probably better than others, but they put you in the smallest bedrooms (to stay in larger rooms -the ones with balcony on Plaza Catalunya- you must pay extra EUR 30,00/night). We spent the first night in a very small twin room (with incredibly small bathroom!). After a complaint, they say no double bedrooms available that night (wednesday...!). The following day we check few rooms before choosing the less worst one (#501, double bed, slightly larger room and bathroom) at the same price we booked.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of December and had a comfortable stay. It's a great location. The girl who checked us in was very friendly, the room wasn't as small as I thought it'd be (there was 3 of us), everything very clean, they even brought us up a toothbrush because my husband forgot his! There's a coffee maker in the room although we didn't use it...a great place to have breakfast is next door because they don't charge you an arm and a leg! A cafe con leche with a croissant was probably around 3 euros there. Overall, definitely recommend this hotel!

Wonderful location, hotel is rated 3 stars but better than many 4 star hotels. We had a front room on the 3rd floor, king size bed, balcony (small), cherry laminate floors and cherry woodwork, flat panel tv, good closet space, desk and chair, nice space around bed, bathroom the size of bath in the usa with 6'tub and nice shower over tub, huge towels, hair dryer, scale, bidet, full wall mirror, free wifi and two computers for your use in 2nd floor lounge area with large wide screen wall mounted flat panel tv. Free wine, coffe, tea, water and treats every afternoon for 3 or 4pm till 10pm. Helpful people at front desk. Arrived early 9am they held our bags and our room was ready before 10:30. Only neg is their buffet breakfast is very expensive and a good move is to ignore it and walk out the door to several good options (within a 3min walk) and you spend E2 to E4. I looked at a couple of other rooms not on the front and saw the rooms were decorated similar to ours but smaller, double beds one side against the wall, and a little smaller bathroom but still attractive, no balconys.

The 1st night that we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with champangne. The host was very nice and gave us a room. We took our own bags up and were surprised to find the smallest room we have ever seen for 2 people. It was about 1/2 the size of the room we had on our last cruise. The bed was just a full size for 2 people. I went to complain only to be told that it was the only room they had left and they would try to move us to a larger room the next morning. We spent a misserable night, unable to even move about. The bed was pushed up against one wall and still the TV was only 3 feet from our faces as we were lying down. The next morning we were given a larger room at the front of the hotel with a small balcony that over looked the plaza Cataluna. I was expecting it to be very noisy but it was not as bad as I had thought. This room was quite clean and comfortable except for the mattress that was hard as a rock, but we found this to be the case almost everwhere we stayed in Europe. In the afternoon and early evening they had snacks, wine and bottled water in the dining breakfast area. (Breakfast was expensive and we did not eat there) Internet was free and they had 2 computers to use in the same area. It was not hard to get a computer. The location was perfect, right on the plaza but a little noisy. The bus stop from the airport is directly across the plaza and the openair tourist bus is directly across the street. It is situated right at the beginning of the Rambles. I would probable stay there again but only with the stipulation that we not be given one of the small rooms. They spoke very good English and were very helpful at the desk.

I think very highly of this hotel. Several specific comments to go with my numeric ratings: 1) The outside pictures of the hotel don't do justice to its interior quality. The finish was quality modern european hotel grade. 2) I was there during the beginning of the annual festival in Barcelona. This hotel sits right on the main plaza where big stages are set. Yet despite the fact that the bands were playing until 3am, we got a very nice, fairly quiet rest. Typical european "good quality" double/triple-paned glass doors. 3) Free WiFi "just worked." This makes it worth the stay if you're there for business. I'll definitely stay at an H10 hotel again. I saw another during my stroll of the city, and it looked just as nice. Good value for good hotel.

H10 hotel catalunya plaza exceeded my expectations. It was a wonderful hotel in the heart of barcelona. The staff was friendly but they are not fluent speakers of english... They speak only spanish! The breakfast was great but a bit expensive 8 euros per day.The girls that offer the breakfast are really kind and lovely! As my first stay in Barcelona I felt the Hotel was very good because of its extremely convenient location, either for arriving from the airport and also for exploring downtown BCN as a first glance. I was offered a 50% discount breakfast on arrival, maybe because of my being their client for the first time, which I appreciated because breakfast ( very abundant ) was also very expensive. Free internet was a useful commodity. My single room , very proper and clean, was however too noisy being confined onto a courtyard with some engine operating all night long every few minutes. As I said I was pleased to stay there as a fisrt stay, but the next time I guess I would move to a different accomodation.

I could not fault this hotel. Our room was on the top floor (3rd) facing the Square. Wonderful atmosphere. Noisy ... but with very good double glazing, which cut out the noise completely. The hotel gives a 50% discount voucher on their breakfast, so it's 15 Euros for a couple. It's self service so you can have as much as you like and the choice is truly amazing. Next to the breakfast room is a tv lounge with a few sofas, 2 computers with free internet access, and sandwiches/snacks and wine are provided free from about 4pm onwards ... (amazing) The Hotel itself is an interesting quirky old building with 'light shafts' dropping down everywhere, the decor and fittings are to a very good standard. There even seem to be 2 private apartments buried inside the hotel on floor 1. The staff all spoke very good Engish and were all very pleasant and helpful. The Gothic quarter is 10 minutes walk, La Rambla starts at the square and an easy afternoon stroll will take you down to the marina ... people watching and drink stops included. The tour buses are a must and there are bus stops for 2 companies right outside the door, one of the companies operates a 'north' tour, which is just the other side of the square. There is an airport bus which runs about every 10 minutes (until 1:00 am) which terminates at the opposite side of the square from the hotel. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

The Reception staff spoke English and were extremely helpful. We arrived in Barcelona at 9 am and were delighted to find that our room was available and that we were able to check in. The complimentary wine/champagne and afternoon coffee & sandwiches was unexpected but greatly appreciated. As too was the free internet access. Another bonus was the fact that the Hotel allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel until the evening following check out. The only drawback was the size of our room which in reality was more in keeping with what you might expect from a smallish single room. Nonetheless, an excellent location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very friendly hotel that offered a host of "extras" at no extra cost. We will return!

We stayed 4 nights at H10 Catalunya Plaza in April 2007. The locations was WONDERFUL!!. We took the Areobus from the airport, great bargain at only 3.90 Euro. The bus leaves you off directly across from the hotel in the Plaza, you can't see the Hotel because of trees just go to corner. The area is very active, we took an inside room which was very quiet, if you are a light sleep DO NOT take room overlooking street. The room was very small, but that was expected. It was clean, with nice furniture, TV, bath, view was of light shaft but that made the room quiet which was a plus for us. The location of hotel was excellant. Breakfast was offered at 50% off or 7.50 Euros. Was a very nice breakfast with hot and cold items, great sweets!! We enjoyed the champayne on check in and every afternoon until 9:00pm there was free wine on the first floor, a very nice touch along with some small sandwiches. This was expecially nice our first night after a long flight. The metro was right outside the door along with the city bus to Miro museum. We walked to most sites, Picasso museum, Palau (not to be missed). If you are an art lover make sure you see the MNAC by Miro museum, one of the best in Spain. This was our first stay at this Hotel and we would stay here again. If you are taking the train to another city in Spain, make sure you get your tickets before you leave. We did not and got tickets only by taking the early train. The website is only in Spanish. The trains are only 4 cars long so not much space is available. The Opera Flamenco just down Las Ramblas was great. We bought our tickets on the street for 5 Euros off price the day before from some young people selling them, we were concerned but it was all OK and our seats were great. The men at the front desk were very helpful and spoke very good english, one morning the lady on was not helpful and english was not good but otherwise the staff was great!! For the price would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Catalunya Plaza was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Through venere, based on former guests, I specifically requested a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the plaza. With the hotel's confirmation, I assumed my request was accepted. Upon arrival, I was told their only availability (for me traveling alone) was a very small room (single bed barely fit in room) in the (4th floor walkup) attic floor with a window facing an alley with a cost of 186 E or @ $200. which the heavily made up, caustic receptionist said was nonrefundable (first night). The next morning I was dizzy and sick from this experience. I was especially upset because most reviews gave this hotel good ratings. I quickly found a different, great hotel for the remainder of my stay in Barcelona and vowed never to use venere again.

The most brilliant thing about the hotel is the superb location! You are in the centre of everything. It´s perfect. You just cross the Plaza to get to the airport bus and you can enter the sightsing bus right outside the hotel. We´ve never had a glass of champagne to welcome us in any other hotel before. A lovely gesture! We will for sure stay here again and we recommend it to everybody planning a trip to Barcelona! Cheap and splendid!

The hotel is perfectly situated for the best that Barcelona has to offer (Ramblas, City Tours, eateries, station. Direct bus service from airport to Hotel. (3.5 Euros) Breakfast was offered at "half price-8Euros). This was good value but full price would be unrealistic. Staff great, free Cava/wine and snacks every afternoon. Highly recommended if you only want the room to sleep in.

This was one of the smallest, noisiest rooms I have ever stayed in. We felt like we were in a train sleeper compartment. Certainly not worth anywhere near the price paid for it. I had made requests, in advance, based on reviews read on your web site, but they were not honored. We were aroused at 3 AM by other guests we could hear through the thin walls; having a party, or returning from one? It finally became quiet two hours later, then we had to get up at 7 to make our way to the airport. It also had the most ridiculous bath tub, about 3 feet in length.

Position on Pl Catalunya was excellent, central good access to transport. We liked the hotel, the staff were very helpful and the lounge/ dining area were pleasant. We had been warned by previous guests that the rooms were small, they were tiny, but this was not a particular problem for us. Also previous comments regarding the poor value of the hotel breakfast - we were handed 1/2 price vouchers for breakfast and at this rate the breakfasts were satisfactory and OK value. Would definitely stay again with excellent position - for us over the weekend of the festival of Merce centered on Pl Catalunya.

When we arrived at the hotel there was another Asian couple checking in - they were offered a glass of champagne, we were not. They received their room striaght away, we did not. After travelling from 5am from Ireland to get there to be told we would have to wait 20 minutes for a room was annoying but we are not unreasonable and understand rooms have to be cleaned. However after 2 hours of waiting and still no room our understanding was wearing thin!! I think that perhaps this hotel is racist as we were given possible the worse room in the biulding with no lift access and opposite the noisy lift shaft, also when we asked for a recommendation for a restaurant we were mumbled at in Spanish and told to get a taxi to the beach area, however when the couple coming behind us asked the same thing they were treated completly different, maps were drawn and several different restaurants were written down for them. I booked this hotel on the recommendation from this site but couldnt believe how rude and uninterested the staff were. The rooms are extremely small and we had a window about 2 foot by 2 foot wide that you had to stand on your tip-toes to see out. There was no bath and the shower was so small that it was impossible to lift both arms up at the same time and the doors constantly came off the runners and wouldnt open or shut properly! The only saving grace for this ill-mannered establishment was the fact that there were compimentary drinks and snacks in the afternoon!! Also in fairness its an excellent location for exploring Barcelona but I really would not recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a nice comfy hotel, as we were really disappointed.

We had a wonderful stay here. We were welcomed with champagne upon our arrival, the rooms were more like small suites and were very beautiful. They have a nice breakfast buffet and free coffee, tea, wine and snacks all day in the lounge as well as free internet access! The location could not have been better, we were directly on Placa de Catalunya. And the staff were extremely helpful in recommending great restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay again when I return to Barcelona.

The location in Plaza Catalunya is perfect to reach any point in Barcelona and surroundings. And the airport bus drops you almost directly at the hotel entrance. The people are nice and professional. We have enjoyed it very much.

A lovely hotel in an incredibly central location just a few steps from the Ramblas. While the room was small, it was very well appointed and nicely decorated, with fresh flowers and a nice, contemporary feel. The hotel's common areas are a plus, too, especially the first floor sitting area with complimentary snacks and drinks (including cava and red wine), plus two computers with free internet access. Rooms can be a little noisy in the daytime if you are trying to nap, but I did not go to Barcelona to nap; otherwise I have no complaints. I found the staff--particularly housekeeping--both friendly and helpful. (When I mentioned my husband had come down with a cold, one of the housekeepers showed up at our door with extra packets of tissues.) I would definitely return to this hotel.

Extremely disappointed. We booked a double room for two nights, at 140 Euros per night. The room we were allocated was in no way suitable for two people. It was the smallest hotel room that I have ever stayed in. For a start the bed was in a corner, so someone was slept against the wall. Very little space to manoeuvre between the bed and the wardrobe. Even with a small amount of luggage it was too cramped: and neither of us are big people. This is not what I would expect for 140Euros. We were moved to a bigger (twin) room for the second night: this was a statisfactory size for a quality hotel. Overall a real disappointment: especially at the price.

Great location at top of the Ramblas.Easy access to public transport, restaurants and shops. Room small but adequate. Breakfast no bargain .Go next door to cafe and save a lot. A big plus is the complimentary cava bar on the mezzanine daily from 1200 to 1800 with snacks.

Everything about the Barcelona break was fantastic - shuttle bus from airport stopped right opposite hotel, location of hotel was excellent - open top tour bus stop right opposite hotel, La Ramblas right on doorstep. Could not fault hotel. Our room was excellent, on 3rd floor overlooking Catalunya Square, residents lounge excellent with refreshments/snacks/red wine/champagne available in the afternoon free of charge. Very welcoming after a full day's sightseeing.

The hotel was quite nice and in a brilliant location right on the Ramblas. The room was tiny with an awful view but to be honest it was perfectly fine as it was really only for putting the head down.I only had one problem.I e-mailed the hotel asking them to have some flowers sent to my room as a surprise for my wife's birthday.I got a reply asking for details and i duly obliged. However when we arrived there were no flowers in the room.Very disappointing.

stayed here on a girlie weekend with 5 other friends. great location - easy walking distance to shopping and ramblas. my room was bigger than the other 2 rooms we had. thin walls so party goers kept me awake at 3am! staff and service excellent. we made full use of complimentary drinks and snacks in lounge- although the red wine ran out very quickly and they did not have any more. did not have breakfast at hotel - just went out. lots of cafes nearby. would definitely stay here again.

We had just a perfect stay in this hotel. We had the room 102, very specious, a sort of minisuite, with a separate space for a tv and a sofa, as well as with a private terrasse.

We enjoyed our stay in Barcelona, as the location of this Hotel is excellent. We were disappointed with our room, which was booked as a triple room. The third bed was a fold- down couch, which was totally unacceptable. I asked at Reception to have it replaced with a proper bed, and he agreed that this would be done. However, when the maid arrived to do this, she did not seem to agree and a mattress was placed on top of the fold-down. The position of this fold-down bed also made it impossible to open the fridge, open the curtains or window, or to use the dressing table. The Hotel should make it clear that the third bed in a triple room is a fold down type, as I would not have booked it, if I known in advance.

we had some problems with the heating system - it did'nt work two nigths out og four. The personal was not good in taking the responsibility. We think that 14 euros for breakfast is all to much. You are far out danish prices and I would have prefered to get that information before we arrived to your hotel. 14 euros for a child.....

Great hotel at a great location. Right at Placa de Catalunya, so can get everywhere around the city from here AND make those sidetrips to Figueres and Montserrat without any hassle. Plus free cava, munchies, and internet! Rooms are a little small, but was expected...

The room was far too small for two people but the ambience of the hotel, the quality of inobtrusive attention was a great compensator. The welcome cava drink, the small flower in the bathroom and the free internet use not to mention a free snack buffet section each afternoon were the personal touches that made the visit memorable.
