My first time in Barcelona, I truly liked this Hostel, At first I was a bit hesitant about staying in a Hostel seeing that I’ve never done so before never the last for the price, cleanliness, and location it was priceless. Close to great tourist places and to some small supermarket. I am sure my husband and I would not mind staying here again. Just one thing, I wish the reception area would have offer more information for tourist, nevertheless we did find the brochure for a free walking tour, it turned out to be the best tour I’ve ever had and I’ve traveled around the world. Our room did not have a toilet, just a small shower area, sink, bad, dresser, desk, great plasma tv (mostly catalan channels, but with my husband’s French and my Spanish we were able to figure out what was taking place in the screen) and of course night stands, it was perfect. I thought it was going to bother me not having our own full bathroom but we were hardly in our room, and the restrooms were marvelous clean, and modern. My stay was great. Hope this is helpful, Buenos viajes!!!PS. am actually from the US but we were in Burkina Faso when we decided to travel to Barcelona before coming back to the US.

I would stay here again. Everything was fine and I felt independent of hotel staff. But when I needed something within the appointed hours someone was there to help. It's not for people who want their own bathroom and lots of staff.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and met our needs, although the area outside the hotel was very noisy in the evening, probably due to the business school next door. Otherwise, we had a good experience here.

Hostal Girona is a fantastic place to stay, especially if you're in Barcelona to take in the Old-World vibes. When I make it big, I'm going to buy an apartment in their building ;)

The room was fantastic. I stayed in a private room with shared bathroom and both were very clean. The staff was helpful when I needed help with Internet and directions. It is on a quiet side street but not far from many of the city hot spots. Definitely stay here:)

After reading various reviews of other hostals in Barcelona, I was really pleased that this place turned out to be a gem. The location is excellent - only about 3 blocks from the metro and equi-distant from several key sight-seeing places (within walking distance). Very quiet location. Plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast. Our room was also exceptionally quiet. The bed was excellent and the bedding spotless. Toilets were exceptionally clean. Free WiFi. Staff were very helpful. Overall, very good value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

Hostal Girona is a fantastic place to stay while in Barcelona. We had a double room with a shower and sink (in the room - note, not a separate bathroom), and also a small enclosed balcony, which was really lovely. The toilets are down the hall, but this was not really an issue for us. And the bathrooms are so good we took our showers there most of the time anyway. The room was definitely adequate, bed comfortable and staff generally friendly. Noise between rooms was that of every other hotsal or pension we have encountered in Spain - pretty poor. However, this hostal is so lovely, the common areas very warm and comfortable, and bathrooms are amazing!!! - that it makes up for any noise you might hear. The location is great - only 10-15 min walk to main sights, and, even as it was our first trip to Spain - much better than staying in the old town. Don't ingore L'Eixemple on your trip to Spain - so many great restaurants, beautiful streets etc to be found here!! It may not be the place for young single travellers hoping to meet others, but for a private, clean and peaceful stay in Barcelona, we would always recommend Hostal Girona.

The hostal was hard to find. They share a building with a business school and you have to look really closely at the name on the door to see that the hostal is in that building. The little lobby area was nicely decorated and the single room with private bathroom I had was pretty spacious. The shower/sink made noise whenever the water was running. It was bearable at first but by the third day it was annoying me. My room also overlooked the little courtyard in the building so it was loud during the night because you could hear the doors shutting all night. I would recomment requesting a room that does not overlook the courtyard. The hotel was just a few blocks from some of the main plazas but it was a comfortable area and I felt safe there at night traveling as a single women. Overall, the stay was great.

Actually, this was the best hostel I ever stayed at. It was more like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. However, it would be nice to offer a continental breakfast that is included in the price. Anyway, I would stay there again. It was worth the price. It was also centrally located. I have to come back to Barcelona and I am staying in another location, I hope it is as good as this one. Excellent.

Best choice for people who like just a room, no breakfast and no meal, just a clean and confortable room. Mind an hairdryer, but if you need it you can ask to the reception that it would lend you. There are rooms with bathroom or not, both very cheap. My room was double, with bathroom an LCD TV ( that we never switched on :-) ) Enjoy!

I was very pleased with Hostel Girona. The staff were very nice and polite. They answered on any question that I had. The hostel was very clean and comfortable and so was the room. It was exactly what I wanted. The only thing that I would have change is that the water heating compressor will be less noisy. Other of that everything was perfect especially the location in Barcelona it is close to everything even by walk.

The room we stayed in at Hostal Girona was large and very clean. The shared bathroom was also large and all kept very clean. The Hostal was quiet, apart from the odd noisy pipe, and the decor very attractive. We found it easy to get to points of interest in Barcelona. Unfortunately the owners/reception were so unfriendly I would not recommend this hostal for any non Spanish speaking guests. While we tried to use our limited Spanish this was not appreciated and after being shown our rooms we were told reception was not available. We stayed elsewhere later in our trip.

We had a great time in Barcelona and your B&B accommodation helped greatly to make the stay the success it was. The rooms were clean (and cleaned daily), comfortable and within easy walking distance of Barcelona's main plaza (Catalunya). I will definately recommend your accommodation to my friends...

The Hostal is a little bit difficult to find, because of the really small sign in front of the door. The rooms are all in the second floor and were clean. The bath was a little bit small and there was no possiblity to place the soap or anything else. One of the great advantages seems to be the walking distance to placa catalunya which is only a ten minutes walk away.

It is noisy from sewage. Probably pipes in a wall. But it did not stir. We flied up to Barcelona 10 hours. When have arrived to hotel, we had to wait for 10 minutes while the mistress will have a good long talk by phone. It at once has created negative opinion. However the mistress has apologized. When us have got in our double room, we were in horror. It was a small closet. Next day we have asked to replace to us number. The owner was very affable and delicate and has made everything to move us in good number. Despite of these troubles, we again shall stop in it hostel. In it there are very good rooms with balconies.

I'm so glad I picked the Hostal Girona. Once you acclimate to the metro - the Urquinona station is close to the hotel. From the airport I took the bus to Placa Catalunya (the last stop)& enjoyed the walk. I kept asking people along the way for their help. Everyone is so friendly in this great city. I felt safe. There are grocery stores & places to eat within walking distance. The hostal was in a quiet location. When you 1st arrive look for the flags for the school - the hostal shares the building with a school. For an active walker or person in good physical condition - it is delightful to walk through the neighborhoods - Las Ramblas & the Cathedral. The information station is at Placa Cataluyna underground (look for the red "I") & can help with anything you need. This hotel was a true delight !!

The Hostal Girona would be best suited to the 'careful' guest. There is a very beautiful old antique lift, which needs careful and considerate handling. the hostal is a family home and has beautiful ornaments and furniture in its public areas, which wouldnt suit wrecklessness/drunkenness or disrespect. our first time to stay there and would definitely recommend it. there are some rooms with large balcony which are very quiet - excellent for the light sleeper. T.V. and air conditioning were in very good working order also.

We had a very very noisy room. Our window was facing the hallway, so no fresh air and very noisy. Hotel is in a large building with other businesses on ground floor. Very clean rooms and modern but noisy waste water system. If our room can be avoided then all will be better. Great location.

I was very impressed with this hotel, probably because I thought it would be more like a hostel, but was impressed to find better quality. My husband and I visited this past June, and stayed for a few days. We were in the room directly off the lobby area, so it was slightly noisy one night, but nothing I couldn't sleep through. While the room was small, it was perfectly comfortable for the two of us. The water was hot, the room was cleaned every day, and the staff were friendly. I think the only complaint I would have are the directions from the airport, as they are vague. We ended up wandering around for way too long in the heat trying to find this place. I would recommend looking them up on google maps before you go, as it wasn't as straight forward as they appeared.

I have stayed this hotel in April 2008. On their website, it looked and sounded just the sort of budget hotel I was looking for. A hotel with old charactor. But the furnitures in the room were all made with plywood, and just pretending to look antique. The room size was ok. Outside of the window was a tiny square space and all I could see was 3 walls and some airconditioning boxes. You have to stick your head out and look right up to see a small square of sky. Felt like being in a prizon without bars. Shower cubicle was small. As I arrived I noticed the water in the toilet was dark brown. It went clear after I flashed, so I thought they didn't clean it properly. But next morning it was dark brown again. The dirty water must come from neighbouring room or flats. As I was just falling asleep after midnight, I was suddenly woken up by thundering noise of gushing water coming from above. It was so lond that I wondered if the water would come through the ceiling! I turned the light on to see what it was. I could see a pipe coming down the ceiling along the wall and towards my bathroom area. This happed several more times before finally gone quiet. But then it started all over again in the morning. Oh, and also a person lives upstaires wearing shoes with heels started using washing machine at 6AM. It appeared to be coming from toilet upstairs. Clearly, the sewage system in the building seems to be connected to each other. I could also see some cardboard boxes thrown on top of a space above bathroom area. The room was more like a storage room and should not be used as a guest room. Early next morning I picked a hotel from my guide book and phoned to book. I told the lady (appeared to be the owner) that the noise of drainage was unbearable so I wished to leave. She blamed the guest staying in the room next to me! She then said she was going to move me to the room in the main building which would be quieter. Why didn't she do so in the first place? She must have been aware

The room was very good, however the bathroom was quite small and difficult to manouver in, e.g. when getting out of the shower. The location is advertised as close to barrio gothic, however, it's quite a walk away, and you're better off taking the metro. Catalunya square isn't exactly very close, it's about 15 minutes walk, which if you've walked all day, may be quite tiresome. Not that many restaurants nearby and you'll be quite reliant on the metro to go out at night.

Wonderful stay in that hostal. You can easily reach every point of the city from there, by underground as well as on foot, since it's very close to placa de catalunya, la rambla, el palau de la musica, casa battlò and all the marvellous modernists' architectures. The building is a good example of early twentieth century architcture (art nouveau) as well as a few buildings of the eixample. Rooms are not so special, but clean. I recommend Hostal Girona.
