-Great view from rooms, good quality and surprisingly quiet for a Spanish hotel; -Reception guy at arrival really unwelcoming; -Parking around the corner IS possible for free (go down a bit further Av Diagonal, behind the park left-hand you might be lucky - residential area); receptionist did not have a clue. No drop-off area around the hotel; the garage exit opposite the hotel entrance is an option. -Breakfast is good and worth the price. -Breakfast cafes and nice restaurants are available down the pedestrian area in front of hotel. Avoid the first one to the left with "breakfast" sign outside. Going down that pedestrian area all the way to the sea takes you to nice seaside restaurants, bit more expensive though.

Best compromise to stay in a secure and tranquile area and have access in visiting the city. confortable and cheap connection with airport. 500 m walking in a pleasent area through subway, 800 m from seeaside through Poblenou (traditional restaurants and shops), 300 m and 2 station from few major shopping centre, 5 minutes travel in subway through major objective such Born, Barcelonetta or Sagrada. Clean and not big but cosy room and bathroom, better stay at superior level and good restaurant for dinner. Overall a good place for a leisure trip in Barcelona.

Excellent modern hotel with good communication links to all parts of Barcelona. Shopping mall with cafes and restaurants just across the road, plus some others in easy walking distance. Open top your buses stop a few minutes walk away. Hotel food not good - but inexpensive! Bar prices also low. Staff very helpful. No hesitation to stay there again.

The Hotel is very good comparing Price Vs Quality. The only thing We didn't like is the attitude of the staff, I think is something general in Spain, They are not willing to help people, "Customer is always right" principle, They just don't believe in that.

Both my wife and I spend a lot of time each year, at company expense, in 5 star accommodation. The Amrey we rate as four star, the rooms are smaller and simpler in furnishing and the public areas basic but it is an excellent hotel and great value for money. Internet access is good and free. Yes there is a bit of noise between rooms (and bathrooms!) but that would be our only criticism. Breakfast is good value at 10 Euros if you want a full breakfast. Tips: The No 7 bus stops outside the hotel and gets you to the centre (200 meters from Pl de Catalunya on the Gran Via Corts Catalanes) and runs every 10 -12 minutes. T10 tickets from Metro stations or the airport train station cost 7.70 for ten rides. Cheapest way to/from airport is to use the train, using your T10 ticket, from the old terminal ( Now called Terminal 2) to a Metro Station and then Metro to Glories where you can either pick up the 7 bus or walk the 400 meteres to the hotel down Diagonal.Total cost airport to hotel 77 cents per person! Easiest way back is certainly No 7 to Pg de Gracia Metro and then train (every 30 minutes) to airport. Shopping: Dont miss bargains at the El Cortes Ingles Outlet store 150 metres from the hotel in Ramblas Poublenou.

We stayed at Amrey Diagonal for 7 nights. The stay was great. The location was much better than we anticipated. There were many reasonably priced restaurants along the walk to the beach. The mall is within easy walking distance, the the subway was also very close. We enjoyed walking around, and being in a safe, modern section of town made that possible. Easy to get to the older parts of down on an inexpensive subway ticket. The room was very clean. We did not purchase the breakfast, choosing to eat at the many local cafes instead. No complaints, except that our a/c failed the last two days. When we asked about it, the front desk person laughed at us, and said, "there is no a/c, only heat." I don't know where the cool air had come from the previous day, if that is the case. "climate control" is also advertised, and a/c was confirmed to us by other guests. Maybe my mistake, but the front desk was rude about the subject in either case. The rest of the time, they were friendly and helpful though. Highly recommend staying here if you don't feel a need to be in the heart of the old city with all of its noise and stink. Value is fantastic as well.

The accomodation and quality of the Amrey Diagonal is (by Barcelona standards) very good value for money. There are several very expensive equally as modern hotels nearby and in terms of room size, bed size, comfort, cleanliness, bathroom size and layout the Amrey is every bit as good at possibly half the price. However.....the bar/meeting/socialising area is minute and the bar shuts early. Also..breakfast was expensive and really quite poor in terms of both content and value terms. However...there is a cafe 1 minute away that opens at 8am and will do a hot croissant, coffee and fresh fruit juice for a few Euro (turn left out of main door). There are two good shopping centres and entertainment complexes nearby and some fairly good value restaurants as well. The Amrey Diagonal is well served by trams and busses but a 5-10 minute walk from the Glorias Metro station. For speed when arriving from ElPrat International Airport take train straight to CLOT it is quite close to the Amrey Diagonal. However...beware of the hotel taxi scam. I asked reception to call me a cab as I was attending a function some distance away. The cab came with a meter showing an Euro 8 loading....when I saw it I refused to pay and hailed a passing cab which had no loading. The fare to my destination was just Euro 7 !!!! Enjoy your stay at this VERY good value for money hotel.

I used the hotel as my base for a week's visit to Barcelona. My room, on the 9th floor, was spacious, impeccably clean and had a view to the sea across the rooftops. The air conditioning was quiet and effective. The bathroom was also spacious and well-appointed. The hotel's location is not particularly central, but a combination of tram and metro will get you to anywhere in the centre in under 30 minutes, although the tram service becomes markedly less frequent at weekends. The hot buffet breakfast was of good quality but quite expensive at €9.50. It was useful that food in the restaurant/cafe was available in the evening until 22.00. The €8.50 tapas tasting was very tasty and good value. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

As part of our trip through Spain, we had been used to noisy rooms and irregular sleep patterns. This place was a gem. Great price, nice room with very good soundproofing (yes, there was street noise if you opened the window, but the AC worked well and the windows were well soundproofed, unlike many hotels). This is a newer hotel and I'd have no hesitation booking again if in Barcelona. Not exactly central -- a 15 minute walk to the subway (or 2 tram stops if you are lazy) and a 15 minute subway ride downtown, but the neighbourhood is pleasant (grocery stores, specialty stores, restaurants, cafes).

Great place to stay. Very clean hotel. Easy to get to all major landmarks using public transport or walking. Tram, tube or bus close to hotel to city centre or bus to park Guell. Buy T10 tickets to save money, but all public transport cheap and clean. Rambla poblenou next to hotel, very local feel and 15 minutes walk to beach, nice shops, bars, restaurants and cheaper than centre. Shopping centre Glories 5 minutes walk. Very safe and pleasant area. Reception staff and local people very helpful re directions, local transport. Only niggle, taxi to hotel from airport 40 euros on a sunday but 50 going back?????on a sunday No escalator/lift in Glories tube. Also no tea/coffee making facilities in room so take kettle.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2009 and it was an excellent place. We were 3 young couples and found it extremely affordable and convenient for us . Hotel is well linked to the metro system and is in close proximity to Glories shopping centre. Also very convenient was the supermarket in front of the hotel. Room was also kept very clean by housekeeping, wide beds and lovely bathrooms. I would highly recommend this hotel for people of different ages.

Stay in August 2009 Hi We had a very nice stay in this hotel. Only as notification: the hotel is approx. 10 minutes walk far away from "Glóries station". We were happy about the very good working air condition. As you know, Barcelona is very hot in summer. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. For one evening they recomended us a restaurant near the hotel. " sorry have forgotten the name" but it was very good. Our stay over 3 days was to short for Barcelona. The next time we would stay again in the Amray Diagonal Hotel.

Excellent location, after all. Very close (10 minutes walk, from the property right on Rambla de Poble Nou) to the Bogatell and Mar Bella beaches (the last one is a naturist one). Good connections to public transportation: only two T4 tram stops from the front of the hotel to L1 metro line (Glories station). L1 line is a perfect line for Catalunya and Espanya squares, also for connections with other metro and renfe lines. T4 tram in the opposite direction (3 stops) leads to Diagonal del Mar shopping mall with a lot of nice restaurants. In the front of the hotel you'll find a supermarket, ideal for beverages, food, etc. The Amrey Diagonal staff is very nice, helpful, discrete. The view from upper floors is stunning, either the strange Agbar tower or the sea. It was definitely a very enjoyable experience.

Hotel is in a good location near the Rambla de Poblenou which has plenty of restaurants and cafes, Bogatell beach (one of the nicest beaches) is 20 minutes walk. 2 metro stations are 15 minutes walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful and most spoke good English. Room was comfortable, however soundproofing between rooms could be better, we could clearly hear people in the next room. Outside soundproofing was fine. Breakfast was good but expensive at 10 Euros.

Indeed, good hotel, could be upgraded to 4 stars instead of 3 stars, but nevetheless that's how all 3 stars hotels should present. I chose Amrey Diagonal for the very good customers' comments on your site. They were true. It was the first time for us, we were satisfied with the overall services. A little bit far from the main objectives to visit, but OK.

A large modern hotel on a very nicely landscaped avenue. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of the metro and shops including a large supermarket. It's a 10 minute walk down the side street to the sea (If you don't stop at the bakery on the way) A good choice to stay if you wish to enjoy the hustle and bustle and then retire somewhere calmer.

When you come out of glories tube station, turn right, hotel on right about 10mins.We didn't know which direction to take. I would recommended you eat breakfast in hotel, while it might seem to be expensive, when you consider, you can eat as much as you like, it really is not expensive at all. We only had breakfast one morning in hotel and ended up paying nearly as much for food that wasn't anything as nice. I would highly recommend LES QUINZES NITS restaurant in Place Reull, just off La Ramblas, you will need to queue at about 19.45 for 20.30 but believe you me, it's well worth the wait, nicest meal and least expensive we had in Barcelone by far.

I stay there 14 days, and this was an excellent experience. I really love the room!Although the hotel is not so centraly located but I didn't have any problem..the metro was 7-8 minutes walk..there was a bus and tram next to the hotel, and the most important is 15 minutes walk from the beach...I recomend it for holidays during the summer. The people that work in the hotel were very polite and ready to help you. I have stayed in many hotels in my life, (4 and 5 stars) but this -especially the room- was probably one of the best...

One of the best hotels I've stayed in in Europe. Very nice hotel with very nice rooms. Asked for a room with a view and they supplied that for us. Free Wi-Fi internet. Breakfast not included and was about 15 Euros so we ate at one of the many restaurants in the area every morning. A shopping mall across the street with lots of places to eat and shop and Carrefore, a huge grocery/goods store with cheap groceries. About a 10 minute walk from the beach. Walk to the metro was about 10 minutes, not 2 like the site says. A short 4 metro stops to La Rambla. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel. Great price offered through venere as the rooms at this hotel are actually like 200-250 Euro a night and we only paid like 70 Euro a night booking on this site. What a bargain!

Hotel Amrey Diagonal is a very nice and clean hotel with a friendly and knowledgable staff. The Hotel was clean and the staff spoke perfect English and were extremely helpful. The rooms were excellent and offered plenty of space. We had no problems with any of the hotel facilities and would highly recommend it. The location being slightly out of the main tourist spots was not a problem as the public transport system was good and with the tram just 2 minutes away very handy. A local shopping square with large shops and bars was just a few minutes stroll away. Walking down to the beach took 20 minutes. Would certainly go back to the hotel again however was very disappointed with Barcelona as a city. It was dirty, smelly and language could be a problem.

The hotel is a new construction, it beautiful all glass exterior. We were on the 10th FL facing the main street(quite room with central air, TV, and fridge), from our room i could see the Sacred Family church, and other cool sites. There is new state-of-the-art mall across the street, the bus and trem stops are across the street as well. The beach is aprox. 4-5 blocks south, and the metro is aprox. 5 blocks west (10min train ride to La Rambla). The location is excellent, everything closed late(10pm-12am,1am). There is about 40 resturants, and 100 shops within a 3 block radius. I also remembered an all you can eat buffet nearby. The only negatives were the late checkin time (1pm), no free breakfast, and the it was difficult finding the hotel especially with our heavy luggages, but it was worth it. It was hard to find the hotel because we took the metro which dropped us off next to a highway off ramp. We looked up the hotel in a local directory and found out that it has a 3-4 star rating, for what we paid it was a steal. We reccomend it to all our friends and family.

Exelent location if you do not mind staying 6 blocks from the beach. I will stay there again, close to a major shopping area and 4 blocks from a metro station. Rooms were clean and all services at the hotel very nice. La Sagrada Familia is about 15 minutes walking. The hotel is 2 blocks from the Agbar tower. Next to the subway (metro) station there is a very big flea market. Only advice: Do not ask the hotel to call you a taxi cab, the driver will overcharge you, it seems that the driver will give a commision to the hotel employees.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. Staff could not speak English very well and could well be advised to offer a smile or two to make guests feel welcome, instead of talking among themselves while guests wait at the desk. They were not very forthcoming with information, could not tell me where I could cash travellers cheques, apart from not at the hotel. Ended up in city bank. Room on the 9th floor with pleasant view of Ave Diagonal. Room was just as shown on website, large and extremely clean and modern. Two kingsize singles together - comfortable but pillows very firm. Heated towel rail for drying items (great in winter and wet weather). 15 minute stroll down pedestrian promenade to beach. Raining early in day so took a cab to the city for bus tour of all sights. Never used public transport. Breakfast was ample with good range for various tastes but a bit rich at 15 Euro each. Breakfast staff were excellent. Required to pay for stay on arrival. I had to alter my stay from 3 to 2 days and as I had to cancel with Venere and rebook, the rate had increased by 10 Euro per night for same dates! I would not return.

Honnestly , the general overview of this hotel is good in general , but i saw that the team of this hotel is not very engaged in the welcoming of the customers . the worst moment that we spent in this hotel is on the 1 january at 9:00 am after one night outside for the new year , was to be woke up by the sound of a very loud vacum and as well the screamings of the housemaids . Also if you are french do not expect to be understand ... people are just speaking spanish and some times english . Hopefully we are french fluently speaking spanish and english . For the geographic situation of this hotel , we were very happy to be there because it is very close from the city center . The parking is 15 euros by day not inclued in the price , and the breakfast is as well not inclued.

We were shocked to find that people in the next room to us had been offered a $30 price LOWER than ours. That left us with a bad feeling, obviously. They also booked thru Venere so I don't know how this happened unlesss they booked much later than we did and the hotel found it was empty and needed to fill them.

Everything was very good, except for quietness of the rooms. I could hear the music playing in the hall 24/7 and the people in the next room having conversations and sex. I did not like that at all.

This is our 2nd stay at the Amrey and won't be our last. Both times have been above average, the first time we were in room 901, a corner room with so much space. This time we were in room 1008, this was smaller, but adequate space for 2 people. The only downside is that breakfast isn't included in the price, we must have been lucky first time round to have it included, but this time we didn't and it cost 13 euros pp, so make sure you pile you plate of the lovely meats and cheese, bacon, eggs, fruit and pastries. The Glories shopping centre and train are 5 mins away, but its just nice to be away from the hustle and noise of the centre. This is our 6th time to Barcelona and the Amrey has been the best hotel yet, we will definately stay here again.

The hotel Amrey Diagonal is a great modern hotel for those who like to visit the action but don’t want to be stay in it! This is the second hotel we booked on Venere and again we were totally satisfied with our choice. I would recommend the hotel for those who like to walk around and explore a city but if you have limited mobility you might want to stay a little closer to the action.

Nice hotel. If you have a room on the avenue, it is a little bit noisy, but overall it is a nice and modern hotel 10 mn away from the metro stop.

Great hotel for the price (compared to the rest of Europre though). Nice rooms. This was the nicest hotel we stayed in throughout Europe within our sub $100 Euro budget. It is a little far away from the main tourist area ie. you need to catch a tram but even taxis are really cheap ie. 5-7 euro down to the waterfront area. Nice restuarants in walking distance as well as the beach

My wife and I stayed at the Amrey Diagonal for 4 nights in early October 2007. Having been warned that Barcelona is a noisy city, we wanted somewhere quiet - bliss! This hotel is new and located away from the main sightseeing areas - but the tram stops just outside and the Metro is only a few hundred metres away - these are inexpensive, safe and really easy to use. The hotel staff mostly spoke good english and were very helpful. The breakfast buffet has a comprehensive selection of hot and cold fare, but at 13 euro is not good value if all you want is a croissant and coffee - there are better places across the road. The rooms were clean and spacious and the room rate included use of the room safe. There are many good eateries within easy walking distance.

The hotel is modern with well equipped rooms & is very clean. Exceptional value through your site. Only hiccup price of breakfast. You quoted €9.5 & the actual price was €13.5 but on pointing this out to the "manager" we were charged at your rate. No hassle & very polite about it.

We needed a place to stay for one night on a Friday night during the MERCE Festival at the end of September and we found the Amrey. For the price we paid, I must admit I was very impressed with this hotel! We have stayed at the Hilton Diagonal the following day and the Amrey is just as luxurious in my view! Its location is closer to the downtown and it is just across a very nice Mall with lots of stores. Also the Diagonal is a very nice street to walk and we felt very safe. It is close to a Metro station. We would highly recommend the Amrey to anytone that wish to really see Barcelona on foot.

The hotel location is very good, metro is 10min walking and tram is at 2min, bus N°7 as a stop near the hotel. Employees speaks english&french, welcoming was very good. The ONLY bad thing is THE NOISE between 9AM - 11am, its awfull!! Cleanning employees dont have any respect for clients who are sleeping!! We stayed there 4days, I've always been awake at 10am!
