The Ramblas location is very good, and the lounge lovely, BUT it is not a reason for the rooms to be so tiny or giving onto a wall, or the bathroom not being convenient, and mainly the permanent buffet also means no special breakfast. Only machines for coffee and soda for orange juice.BUT still ideal for a tourist wanting to gather in the vening with others, and not minding a tiny room, even if nicely decorated !

A lovely hotel, perfectly located a short walk from the city's central square, with abundant taxis and restaurants nearby. The hotel's Reception employees were very friendly and helpful, especially Cristina. I enjoyed every aspect of my stay, except for noise coming from occupants in adjacent rooms that disturbed my sleep. Both walls of Room 126 need more interior soundproofing. I don't think noise is a problem in all rooms, however, as a friend who was sleeping two rooms away from mine heard nothing.

I believe the quality of the stay at this hotel is dependent on the room assigned and the neighbors in the rooms on either side of your room. If you get one of the slightly larger rooms (which are completely adequate - our 2 rooms were great) and have quiet neighbors, it is wonderful. However, if you get one of the smaller rooms (very small per the layout map) and have loud neighbors (the walls are paper thin and in 1 room we could perfectly hear our neighbors on both sides the first night), it will not be as pleasant. The noise was made worse by the fact that the bathroom for the room next door fully extended into our room and we could deafeningly hear every single thing that went on in that bathroom. Fortunately, it was pretty silent our last 2 nights but very loud our first night (crying baby, lots of late night bathroom trips/showers). We really loved the location of this hotel, the decorating was cheap but very cute, the breakfast buffet was just fine, the free pepsi/etc. was great, the bathrooms were great, and the common area was very nice and fun for socializing. We didn't use the buffet after breakfast except for drinks, as the food looked like it had been there a long time. However, this was no big deal to us as we wanted to eat at some of the great nearby tapas bars anyway. We would want to return to this hotel for all the good things, but would think about it carefully, maybe requesting a map of the hotel first and a guarantee of a larger room, hoping for quiet neighbors. We found it very difficult to find a clean, well-located, reasonable cost hotel in Barcelona, so next time would look for something else but return here if nothing better could be found.

Wonderful location. Room very small but adequate, just as we expected. 24 hour buffet is a nice touch. Coffee/dining room is beautiful, a wee bit over the top. Be aware that there are steps when entering and a quirky elevator on the landing. We would stay again.

It was our first stay in this hotel. We were in BCN 3 days and saw a lot of interesting places because of great hotel location in the heart of BCN. Our room was small, but we spent there only nights, that why it was not a problem. The greatest thing in this hotel is 24-hours free buffet with beverages, fruits and snaks. In the morning you can find there eggs, omlette, bacon and fried potatoes, anought to have a good breakfast. There is also free Wi-Fi access.

What a wonderful hotel, it was as beautiful as you described, the staff were wonderful, friendly and spoke English. The 24 hour buffet was a real treat. We loved Barcelona and hope to get back, if we do, the Hotel Continental Palacete is where we will stay! The location is excellent. I would recommend it to everyone. Our friends took our advice and booked in as well and loved it too! Thank you very much, I will use Venere again, thats 3 times I have booked through your service and 3 times I have been very very pleased!

Nice hotel in a great location. My room was so small, I can't imagine how 2 people would fit in and there was no place for suitcase, so don't take a big one. Staff was mostly okay, although I would have expected more welcoming from the lady whom I met registering myself in. Public areas and buffet is great - available and free for 24h and good selection of fruit, snacks and drinks. There are some PC-s to check your e-mail, if needed. Location is great, especially when you want to discover Gaudi. You get good service and location for this price - I would recommend it.

I am a frequent traveler and this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The people were warm, welcoming and competent. They helped us with everything we could possibly want. The food, the surroundings and the internet access made us feel as if we were in our own home. The casual atmosphere of the living area made it comfortable for guests to talk and get to know each other. If I could rate this hotel more than a 10 I would. The food in particular made this a great value. Special thanks to the gentleman with the british accent (Peter?). He was wonderful!!! I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know and will stay nowhere else if I return to Barcelona. THANK YOU!!!

Gloriously over decorated. Nothing modern and minimal but all very comfortable and welcoming. Arrived 22:00 to a good welcome and a FREE 24HR BUFFET. Just what we needed after a day on trains. Good location just north of Catalunya Place, very handy for Gaudi watching. Good advice from reception (in English) saved us time and trouble. Bags held for us on departure day and we were offered the buffet until we actually left in the afternoon, very helpful, and tasty. Room was quiet as requested, small but well equipped and comfortable. We will return!

The location is ideal and within walking distance of a number of different restaurants, the Barcelona tour bus stop, and other attractions. The hotel itself offers a fantastic 24 hour breakfast/snack/beverage service which was clean, well-stocked, and a great amenity. The second floor sitting and breakfast room has balconies which look out on the street and should not be missed. I stayed 2 nights pre-cruise in an inside room ,small but efficient & clean. I did not spend very much time in the room; mostly sight-seeing or in the public salon of the hotel (beautiful view). Buffet was great, especially breakfast, and having free coffee, soft drinks, beer and water available all day was a terrific perk! Thhe room we had was quite small and the view of the brick wall and alleyway was not pleasant. The walls are superthin. The first night we couldn't sleep due to the snoring of the person in the adjacent room. The food, which is availablle all day, just sits out and looks unhealthy. Finally, the staff people, as opposed to other places we stayed at in Spain, were not a bit firendly and generally semed annoyed when we had any questions.

The room was the smallest one we have ever had. We should have made objections but we did not; probably other, more spacious, rooms would have been available. The other neg. aspect was the noise from other rooms. No noise from outside. Price/quality was great because of the 24-hour free buffet. Location was great as well. Recommendable hotel, albeit with some provisos.

The first price I got (75€ low season) corresponds to a room with virtually no window: The only window is a sliding door that leads to a (very!) small individual patio, which receives light from a shaft starting somewhere 4 or 5 floors higher up... so the only light in the room is electric. The bright side of it: perfectly quiet! That said, the hotel is wonderful (great 24h buffet service, unfortunately breakfast in disposable plastic cups and plates, which feels a poor choice) and extremely well located: a couple blocks away from the Plaza Catalunya and Gaudi's famous houses. Overall an excellent choice if you don't care to use the hotel for more than sleeping!

I was unfortunate enough to get a room just off the main lobby, so there was a bit more noise that you might expect. There was also no natural light, as the room faced the wall of another building. If you're over 6', the beds aren't. The 24hr buffet was very handy and saved us a bit of money, but if you were looking fot the promised wine, you were often left wanting.

This was my very first trip to Barcelona and was glad to have picked the Hotel Continental Palacete. I arrived earlier than the check-in time and was impressed that they immediately went ahead and got the room ready for me to check-in earlier than I was supposed to (and give me the key!) The room was spotless and the 24 hour buffet was great. They have a nice balcony off the buffet area where you can sit and eat while enjoying the view of the outside. The only downside was there were steps to climb to reach the "lift" (word they use for elevator). I had two big suitcases so it was a little tough getting up the steps (time consuming bringing one at a time up the steps). But it is well worth dealing with the steps because the location was ideal--- close to everything and nice and quiet at night. Another BIG plus was they have FREE Internet service so it was great to be able to communicate with family back home without incurring additional charges. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again if I ever go back to Barcelona.

This is really a wonderfull hotel. The staff is very friendly and very helpfull. The buffet was also super with lots of fresh fruit. At the end of the afternoon guests would have a drink in the lounge and the atmosphere was really nice. I like small hotels and this one has only 19 rooms. The one tiny criticism I have is that the plates are made of carton and knives and forks are made of plastic. It is so much nicer to have real plates. The rooms are small but I was not in Barcelona to stay in a hotel room. The beds were very good and the room was clean.

Central location very good as a base for seeing the city. The all day breakfast buffet was really useful although they ran out of some things whilst we were there and didn't re-stock until two days later. Check the location of the room though as we got one at the back of the hotel (despite asking otherwise) and it was really dark with little or no natural light. It spoiled what would otherwise have been an excellent stay.

We found the location perfect and the value excellent for our four night stay post-cruise. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean, and light snacks are available at all hours. The biggest drawback is hauling luggage up the stairs to the rooms on the second level. Be sure to request a room on the first level (which is three stories above street level) if you don't want to struggle with bags up a flight of stairs. Be aware that the decor of all the rooms is PINK. Pink on steroids. We found it kind of quirky, and loved it. I would recommend Hotel Continental Palacete to anyone traveling to Barcelona who enjoys a quirky small hotel with a friendly, conscientous staff. We plan on returning there in October.

First at all we are fully satisfied to find a complete correspondance between web pages and the property. Photographs, comments and description of services, facilities and location were very clear and useful. We found exactly what we expected. This property is a small very quiet hotel and its location is perfect. We appreciated the welcoming, the courtesy of the employees, the 24 hours buffet facility. Have your breakfast, a cup of coffee or anything you want whenever you want in the bright room called Versailles room is really a pleasant experience.Rooms are small and very very pink but this was already pointed out by the others users and completely compensated by the other advantages. The relationship between price/quality is simply excellent. Last but not least you can let your luggage and have a rest in a quiet living room coming back to take them.Very nice!To suggest and to come back

We could not fault the accommodation at this hotel, which was right in the centre of Barcelona, which was on your doorstep to restaurants, bars, taxis and trains (7 mins in taxi). The 24 hr buffet was excellent for breakfast. Beer, wine, water and soft drinks were always available free of charge. Lunch and dinner menu was minimal and did not look very appertising, but we intended to eat out anyway. As it was my birthday the proprieter put a bottle of champagne in our room which was a lovely gesture. The hotel only has 17 bedrooms and we requested exterior rooms which we were honoured. An excellent stay overall and we certainly recommend anyone wishing to book at this hotel.

We've stayed for 3 nights in November and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect - a few steps away from the L1 and L3 metro lines, a 5 minute walk from La Ramblas, various shopping centers and Catalunyia, where you can take the train to the airport, and 3 minute walk to the Aerobus. Our room was kept very clean. It is small, though, and walls are too thin, but we've slept really well considering how close we were to the center. The buffet is a real advantage! It is packed with light sodas, juices, beer, vegetables, fruits, snacks and toasts you can just take. No need to wake up early to catch the breakfast as it is always there for you (day and night, 24/7). The staff is nice, available for any question and seem very knowledgable. They were happy to keep our stuff in a side-room until our late flight and offered us to enjoy the Buffet while waiting. Overall, this is an excellent choice for anyone wanting to enjoy Barcelona by foot. The location and Buffet saved us money in transportation and refreshments, so we could spend more on clothes :-)

Loved the 24 hr. buffet and the clean, safe location in town. The beds were new and very comfortable. The entire hotel was clean and well kept.

Excellent value. Perfect location. Wonderful 24 hour free buffet with lots of fresh fruit, nuts, hot items and San Miguel beer--stay away from the wine, but the chocolate covered walnuts were spectacular. Very helpful staff. Free internet and postcards. Very close to Plaza Catalunya and the tourist buses. Within walking distance of many fine restaurants. Very quiet. Mostly Americans staying there. Taxis right outside. Close to train and bus drop off.

An allround excellent hotel that I would recommend to anyone. The room was small but the quality, decor and amenties were terrific. The 24 hour buffett, excellent location and courteous service around the clock were great.

we had a triple and it was very cramped, but we weren't in the room much and the location was great , the staff was great; they spoke great English and were very helpful with recommendations for dinner. The all day drinks and fruit and food bar was such a wonderful bonus. Highly reocommend!

Quiet, charming hotel with an old fashioned feel on the more upscale part of the Ramblas. The rooms were small but clean and the breakfast/salon area was quite nice. We really enjoyed the 24 hour buffet which served snacks, wine and beer.

The rooms are very small, even by European standards and in need of new carpet (holes in the carpet/dirty) and linens. Also the 24 hour buffet is great for drinks, but very poor for food, on 2 mornings we had sour milk, and raw eggs.

This hotel certainly has character. It may not be to everyone's taste, but we enjoyed our stay, particularly the buffet for the free drinks. The location was also very handy. The decor was a bit stifling but was memorable.

If you like pink you'd love it!! The 3ft high bed was a little surprising as was the decor, plastic draws, open hanging, soap dispensers. While a micro and small fridge with real cups and saurces was very nice. I tried to remind myself to whatch that first step in the morning!! Obviously family owned and run with the loving care of an old fashioned B&B, the owner having chosen and checked on her guests accomodation.Thinking of families who like to return next year. Shame this did not extend to the breakfast!! Paper cup and plates, cutlery, plenty of cereal, fruit, juice, buns, toast, omelet kept hot through out the morning. This then extended into the 24hr free buffee which consisted of cereal, toast, fruit, drinks. Encouring guests to return and stay taking up the only space available, the 18th century lounge. If you want to pay for the decor in the common areas then the price is worth it, for the rest it's a shame the owners lost their way, saving in the wrong area and making it all so personal. Ideal for visiting and family on holiday.

This is a small hotel with great features. 24 free hour service bar-water, wine, beer, fruit, chocolates and includes a wonderful breakfast and always a pot of soup in the afternoon. Ideally located, 2 blocks from the Las Ramblas. Small, but well appointed rooms. We would definately stay there again.

Initially I was dissapointed that the room did not have a proper view as I requested in the email. The personel offered to move us when a room with a view would have been made available but in the end we decided that our room had the advantage of being very quite. Besides it was a pleasure to sit in the common areas and enjoy the 24h breakfast bar. Everything else was absolutely excellent and I highly recommend this hotel. It has class and quality and a very good value for money.

The hotel was close to the metro and town centre, access for disabled is poor. the all day access to free snacks and drinks was good. The room we had for a triple room was small and expensive compared to other rooms without a view. could stay again if the price was more resonable. Breakfast could have a better selection of fruit.
