The Constanza was a excellent hotel and I would recommmend it to all. It was spotlessly clean, very warm, staff was extremely helpful and there was also free usage of internet. I stayed in a single which was a little small but didn't spend that much time in the room, bed was extremely comfortable, although small. Excellent!

I stayed at Constanza for 4 nights and my stay was lovely. The location is great. The hotel is based in the Eixample but just minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, only a block away from Gaudi's Casa Calvet and 15-20 minute walk away from the sites in Barri Gotic, Las Ramblas and Eixample. The hotel building is nice and our room had a balcony. The room had modern design and was comfortable and large. The hotel staff was lovely and helpful; the room service was good. The hotel is quiet inside and you don’t hear your neighbours. However, there is no wi-fi in the rooms (only cable connection, which doesn’t work with tabs and smart phones). Wi-fi access is in the lobby only. The street is noisy but if you keep the windows shut then there is no problem. The breakfast area is depressing, there are no windows and they did not have black tea (just herbal teas). The breakfast was €10 which is a good price. One more point, the air conditioning was in full speed, the lobby and the hotel corridors were like -10 degrees. Some may like it but we thought it was too cold.

We were really happy with our May 2011 visit. The pros: * Quiet location but in close proximity to main attractions * Beautiful courtyard with balcony * Rooftop bar * 1/2 block away from a grocery store * Clean room * Good price for the size and location of the room Cons: * No wi-fi in rooms * Construction noise during the weekdays (based upon other reviews) although there was NO construction during our weekend visit

I spent three nights at Constanza hotel and I am satisfied. Excellent location, friendly staff and very good service. Everything in Barcelona is at hand there, located in Carrer del Bruc, you'll be in Plaza Catalunya in just a few minute walk from the hotel and you can reach all the major sights Barcelona has to offer from the Plaza. Barcelona is a wonderful city. Overall a very good experience.

The location is excellent, close to the old city, major Gaudi buildings and transit hub with airport buses. Our room was quiet and clean with a rear balconey although relatively small. Good value. However, this hotel has no other amenities. The roof terrace bar advertised on the web and it's front door was closed -- we went in April and it's open only in summer -- and the lobby has only a vending machine. The two computers in the lobby were so worn the keyboard letters were rubbed off and the printer was broken. We had to email our boarding passes to the desk clerk to print. Still, an overall positive experience.

Three nights father and 12-yr old son, visiting Barcelona for Gaudí, FC Barcelona and tapas. Hotel Constanza is excellently located with Urquinaona underground around the corner and Pl Catalunya (airport bus, city buses, underground) a 5-10 min walk. Just two blocks north of the old city, and a 15-20 minutes' walk from the Gaudí extravagances on Passeig de Grácia. Double room on 1st floor, on the street front. Street noise was not a hindrance (windows isolated), early morning sound of drain pipes from rooms above and voices from restaurant starting up below were. Excellent beds and a very good shower made up for this, though. Room internet (free) was wired only. However, wireless (free) was available in the lobby, as were two connected PCs. Staff was helpful and friendly, interested, knowledgeable. Breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful.

This was our first visit to Barcelona. Hotel Contanza is very conveniently situated in a quiet neighbourhood within easy walking distance of most of the city's main sights. Our room was small yet very comfortable, with a spotless bathroom en suite. Our only criticisms would be the thinness of the towels and the ineffectiveness of the air extractor system. We would unhestitatingly recommend the Constanza to any other couple visiting Barcelona for the first time.

All the single rooms has a window in front of a wall, no light came from outside, that's why i asked to move to a double which was ok. So I would no more ask for single room in that hotel. The location of the hotel is quite near to the barrio gotico, and placa catalunia from which you reach easily everything.

Very smart friendly hotel in a quiet part of Barcelona but only a 10 minute walk to Placa de Catalunya. Rooms are modern and very spacious with internet connection (if you take a CAT5 cable) and a safe. We had 5 twin rooms and all were similar. The ones at the back of the hotel had a small balcony with chairs, the ones overlooking the road were not at all noisy. A little on the gloomy side as there is lots of dark wood. The large plasma TV had CNN, BBC World News and lots of Spanish channels. The spacious and plush reception area has 2 computers which share a printer, handy for printing maps and vouchers etc. We didn't have breakfast but there are 2 restaurants in the same street, not open on Sunday, that sell coffee and croissant for €2. Highly recommended and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly use this hotel again when I next go to Barcelona.

The hotel is well situated, very closed to the center plaza Catalunya. Nethertheless the room was very small and very very dark. It was clean and quiet. For this price I would have liked to have a lighter and a larger room.

The hotel is conveniently located on a quiet street near Catalunya Square and is a short walk from the metro and the tourist bus stops. The daytime reception staff speaks good English and are helpful but cannot rely on the night receptionist for anything. We had a suite twin but were very disappointed with it. It was large but was so badly laid out that there was little wardrobe space and we had to literally live out of our suitcases. Our chief complaint is the lighting; it was too dimly-lit even with all the lights on and there was not a single sensible reading lamp.

This hotel is very nice and well located (8 minutes walking to Plaza Catalunya or 2 minutes to underground station). Rooms are wide, cleaned and stylish; very beautuful the bathroom! I didn't expertize breakfast since I prefer to do it outside in one of the typical bar. In one world: very recommended!

Pretty close to all leisure areas, only 10 minutes walk, but more important you can sleep in a quiet place afterwards. We stayed in a suit room and was very comfortable staying with our daughter. Stuff was very friendly, rooms are clean and spacious, priceworthy for every detail. I won't ever seek for any other place in Barcelona.

This should have been a bad review because a few things did not go as planned -- no internet cable in room, got locked in because the front desk person had stepped away, etc. -- but the thoughtful staff and the clean and well appointed facilities at Constanza made up for those gaffes. It is a stylish hotel which is in a great location (quiet neighborhood just a couple of minutes from Plaza Catalunya, the main transportation hub, and Barri Gothic, the place to go out with all the bars and restaurants). It is also very close to L'Eixample, which has some of the best Modernista architecture in Barcelona. I like the place and would return because it was good value for the money, convenient and very comfortable.

With my wife we stayed at the hotel for a weekend and I must say that this hotel is now among my favorite hotels I have ever been. We liked specially the modern minimalistic design of the rooms and public areas. However some wall decoration (graphics, paintings) in the rooms won't look bad :)

Our stay at the Contanza was perfect! The staff were always helpful, cheerful and polite. The room was modern in decor, spotlessly clean. The large shower was amazing! The view from our balcony was pure Barcelona with the sea and mountains in the distance and interesting architecture all around. The street was fairly quiet even though we were very close to main streets and the heart of the city. We would and will recommend this small but chic hotel to all of our friends. Our only disappointment was that the lovely restaurant next door was not open on the night we wanted to dine there. Oh, well, next time? T

We really like the hotel. Although the entrance is not big, but once you enter the lobby, it is very spacious. The reception staff are all friendly & very helpful. However only one of them speaks very good english. The room is so spacious, clean, tidy & well decorated. It has a lovely balcony! You feel so comfortable & relax sleeping on the queen size bed. However, I have to change room because there was water leakage from the bath area to one floor below. I hope they can fixed the problem. The continental buffet breakfast is so nice - good coffee, hot & delicious mini croissants, variety of pastries & my favourate ham & melon. It is really out of my expectation. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

We stayed three nights. The room was very quiet until the construction work started around 9am. So quiet and dark that we accidentally slept in until 10:30am the first morning. But the other days we were up and ready to leave before the construction noise began. Several things in the room needed repair and were minor irritations. The hand towel rack in the bathroom was not secured properly and the towels fell on the floor. The shower basin did not drain well and became a pool while showering (icky!).

I spent two nights at this property: the first in a double room (one person) and the second night in a double/suite (two people.) Both were spotlessly clean, modern design with extremely comfortable beds. The hotel is located approximately four blocks from Plaza Catalunya, an easy walk. As another guest mentioned, it is difficult to find. There is no sign outside, only "NH" etched in the glass door (I walked right by it twice.) The breakfast buffet was typical for Spain: meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, juices, coffee, etc. - more than adequate. My only negative comments are that the rooms are somewhat dark and the exterior signage needs to be better.

The room was so small that once we had opened our suitcase, there passageway to walk around the bed was blocked. It was a very cramped situation but was offset by the fact that everything is new in the hotel. There seems to be only one staff member on duty at any time. Some are very competent and pleasant, others can't speak English and provide misinformation. I had difficulty locating the hotel.

Constanza is great value for money (especially after our trip to Paris before this) the hotel is very slick and modern. The location was also good being so close to heart of all the action in the city. There is a great shuttle bus nearby to the airport and some great shops. The only slightly negative thing about this hotel is that it has really thin walls - in the middle of the night there was a massive shouting match on our floor and you could hear EVERYTHING! Every morning you could hear the room next door as well as well as the cleaners moving around... Having said that tho, you don't go to Barcelona to hang out in your room so all good - would definitely recommend Constanza to my friend and would def stay there again :)

Excellent location, BUT: Extremely noisy due to ongoing construction works at the hotel (and none of the workers seeming to care about waking up the guests by hammering, drilling, shouting in the corridors, slamming doors, etc.). I think everybody would be better off if a hotel within construction either closed down down for a while or otherweise clearly communicated that guests will be staying on a construcion site. Wouldn´t recommend staying there if you are planning on sleeping longer than 7 a.m. - or otherwise check whether they have finished rebuilding!

Very nice hotel, even more so considering the price (64 euro). Stylish furniture and spotlessly clean. My single room was cozy but not a bad size for one person. Doubles looked to be adequate size for two -- at least as far as I could tell by looking at the fire-escape map!. Reasonably close to Placa Catalunya (center of town).

The staff was helpful and friendly, even with a language barrier. Although the room was small but it was imaculate and very modern, like a page out of a design magazine. A great location on a quiet street but only blocks from the center of Barcelona. Only problem was the English language channels on the TV were out of service, but who needs the BBC when you have Barcelona just outside your door!

Hotel is fine, excellent even, and ten minutes walk or less from the main square, old town, and Rambla. Double room of good size, single a bit small, but not painfully so. The only disadvantage is that in some rooms you can hear almost all of what is going on next door. A look at the plan of rooms in the hallway shows that some rooms have only a wall between them and some are separated by the bathrooms. Many uncarpeted floors make for resounding footfalls and door closings. But would certainly stay there again.
