We were welcomed by a pleasant staff member and checked-in efficiently. Our quiet room, may not have been what some would call 'spacious', but it was perfect for our needs, and overlooked a pretty little enclosed garden. The decor had clean basic lines, all the typical amenities, and the bed was quite comfortable. (Note: they are far more environmentally-oriented than most motels/hotels in the US! The A/C will not work if the window is open, and the power is off until you insert your keycard in the proper slot. Terrific ideas we should be adopting!) The hotel was well located, and we walked to all the sights in and around Las Ramblas within minutes, and found easy transportation to La Segrada Familia, Park Guell, Montjuic Palace, Poble Espanya & other wonderful sights in Barcelona. We were there for only a couple of days prior to our cruise, but would love to go back and have an extended stay at this perfect boutique-type hotel! Oh, one thing here....I'd find out more about the ship shuttle which is supposed to be close by. We took a taxi from the hotel to the dock, and the fare was unreasonable compared to what we paid to travel elsewhere within the city.

We had an excellent stay in Hotel Catalonia Port. The room was extremely clean, vey nicely decorated, free wifi and with LCD. The bathroom was new, with bathtub, everything very clean. The room was a little bit small and the view was towards an office building, but it didn't bother us terribly as we spent little time in the room. Also apart from CNN and Sky, there were no movie channels in English. The hotel was very close to La Rambla (3 min) and subway station (Drassanes), 15 mins walk from Placa Catalunya, 5 mins from the port. Practically, in the middle of everything. Also next to it there's a very good restaurant Fresc Co "eat as much as you like" type, where you can eat anything from fresh salads, chicken, pizza, icecream, fruit salad, cake, lasagna, potatoes, espresso, etc - for 11 euros. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel.

Room is a nice size for two. Mattress was firm but comfortable. Nice lcd TV. Modern decor. Room has safe. Instant hot water. We couldn't hear a thing from the street below. Location is excellent. 3 to 4 minutes from the end of Las Ramblas and about 10 minutes from the Born district where there are many excellent restaurants unlike Las Ramblas. Take the metro line 2 to Drassanes exit. Metro is safe and the best way to get around town. Ample Street ends next to Cava Universal Restaurant(good pastries) and parallels Passeig Colom. The hotel is next to and behind Plaza Duc de Medinaceli. The hotel is quite a walk from Plaza Catalonya. It will cost about 7 euros from there to the hotel by taxi. Bakery shops not far from the hotel on Ample St. Small supermarket around the corner is open until midnight. Better supermarket down Ample St. towards las Ramblas. Avoid the pasta/pizza restaurant next door; food is bad. TRY "Taller de Tapas" restaurant which is near Sta. Maria church on Argenteria St #51 in the Born district. Visit Boqueria Market which is about half way down Las Ramblas and El Corte Ingles department store which fronts Plaza Catalonya. Take the funicular to Montjuic Park. Visit Sagrada Familia. They accept cash only for a ticket to enter the church. Nice souvenir shop facing the church.

Fantastic hotel, perfect location in a great, central and very hip area - the only drawback was the lack of breakfast included in the price, but there are plenty of nice cafes nearby. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Barcelona.

This hotel provided very good price-quality ratio. My double room was very spacious, recently refurbished and room cleaning was very good. New bath too. The hotel itself inside was recently renovated, so common spaces are nice and modern. Double lift is appreciated too. Staff is nice. Only one downside: very hot inside, but you can control a conditioner. Just a little window overlooking the inner yard, but other rooms may have a better view. Another commodity is that the hotel in in the Barri Gòtic, in the centre of the old city of Barcelona, close to the main Rambla, and a walk away to many attractions. Very close to the subway station Dressanes. On the last day, we avoided to take a taxi thanks to that, the Aerobus service from Catalunya square is great. I was told the surroundings of the harbor were not nice, but it's full of police. If you hold your purse tight, it's ok after dark. Also, many shops and restaurants are ready at hand. I could go shopping, stop by the hotel to drop my purchases and go again downtown in 10 minutes. I would stay again in this hotel, if I were to visit Barcelona another time.

Overall, great hotel, good price, good location. Located at the south end of the Rambla, near the water and Columbus monument. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The street is a little sketchy as the night gets later... but if you don't mind the pot dealers on the corner, it's fine. Room cleanliness was fine, but it looks like the cleaning staff has gotten lazy -- there was mold around the shelf in the shower, that really would have been easy to clean. And it looked like they need to clean their mop more often, because the bathroom floor routinely had a film and clumps of dust/hair left on it.

I spent 4 night at the Catalonia Port - we had an excellent stay, very modern, nicely fitted out hotel. Very slight niggles - the hotel was extremely hot (the autumn had just kicked in and they over compensated with the heating), there was a funny smell of off feet near the lifts, which I think was the cleaning fluid, plus the hotel is on the edge of the Barri Gothic which is great for small restaurants and cool bars but a little threatening after dark. Good location for transport, the harbour front and shopping though and the staff are extremely helpful.

Great location, very clean and excellent value. A few oddities: Minibar bur no bottle opener, and they seemed reluctant to provide one. No clock in room. Reception staff with variable English, but helpful and welcoming--They had no problem when we asked to check-in at 10 AM. Overall excellent value.

Altamente recomendable!

The hotel is just wonderful. Quiet and so close to the Ramblas etc. The only problem they have is: in the floors and elevators it is smelling of sewage. There is no ventilation at all. At the end of the stay it was better. They definetly have to do something about. In the room it was fine.

Small hotel. Recently remodeled. The neighborhood is a little bit rough at night but very close to the Rambla, Barri Gotic and Barcelloneta. The staff is nice but simple. The rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures and they have a good TV and AC. Clean bathrooms. The price does not include taxes. They have free WiFi at request and the desktop available in the lobby is a catastrophe (slow, expensive and with a weird browser). Good overall place, nice cost/benefit, I would stay there again.

The location is at walking distance from harbour, metro and ramblas. When coming back at night it's better to take main streets rather than side streets, where strange people are milling around (but this problem is shared by all the hotels in the center of Barcelona). The kindness and helpfulness of the personnel is far over the average. The rooms with a "view" on the internal courtyard are extremely silent. Nothing that you could reasonably need in a hotel room (flat panel TV, hair dryer, frigo bar etc.) was missing. In the hall, fresh newspapers are available for consultation. Nothwistanding the official 3 stars, it is in practice a 4 stars. In the morning you may have a comfortable breakfast in a nearby cafeteria.

I was very impress by the beautiful Sagrada Familia cathedral (building at 50%), it will stay in my memory like one of the wonderful cathedral in the world. I am 58 years old, and I plan to come back against in Barcelona in 15 years, I want to see against when the building will be perhaps at 60%!!!

The hotel and employees were excellent - we were very happy with the location - right near everything! The hotel had a 2 for 1 price for their breakfast buffet which made it a reasonable price for breakfast 7 euros each - would not pay 15 each - not worth it at 15.

We stayed in Barcelona with another couple for 2 days prior to a Mediterranean cruise. The hotel was impeccably clean, provided excellent services, tourist information, made reservation for us for a flamenco show. It was a great idea that in September the hotel offered buffet breakfast for half price - only for 15 euros. We would definitely use this hotel again if we happen to travel to Barcelona.
