Difficult to find but once there we liked the hotel. Don't bother getting a superior room. Breakfast was fine and varied but not worth 16 euros. Loved the gastrobar opposite - Elsa y Fred. Great food and wine!

This is my third visit to the Hotel Catalonia Born over ten years. I keep coming back here when travelling solo because it does what is says on the tin: the hotel is clean, neat and very comfortable. My room was on the inside of the building and the only window faced into a light well. Fine, but you could be anywhere. The bathroom was shiny and functional. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and professional. So thank you. I stay here because it is in a really central part of Barcelona among mostly residential and commercial buildings (near the Arc de Triomf). When travelling with my kids, we stay nearby at BCN Gotic.

A real comfortable place to stay, pleasant welcome and competent staff giving good advice to travelers. Facilitated check-in and check-out. The Hotel is clean, well-air-conditioned, NO noise at all during the night. A bit far away to walk to the center, but there is the underground station at Arc de Triomf closeby from where you can go anywhere, even to the airport when leaving. To be absolutely recommended, from all points of view.

I don't understand how this hotel costs 150€ per night and it's catalogated as 4*!!! Is an hotel of 2* and of course, the costs have to be the half minimum! We heard all the toilets of all the hotels rooms during the night. We didn't sleep more than 2 hours. The bed was terrible, and the room was not so clean.

This hotel is in the Born area, which is loaded with bars and nightlife. It's also a 15 minute walk from the center of town. There is a convenient metro right there. The hotel itself was fine for our needs. Had we booked earlier, I would have liked to have stayed in a nicer place for the price. We booked two weeks before and many of the places on Venere appeared to be full. The pool is more like a bathtub, but the pool area on the roof is a comfortable place to be lazy for one day. I would recommend this place if you are booking late and want to be right next to a bunch of drinking spots.

We loved our stay at Catalonia Princesa, and recommend it without hestitation. It's in an amazing central location with lovely alleys, plazas, bars, restaurants and shops all around. Our room had a view of the (Barcelona) Arc de Triomf and was clean and a good size with quality bath and shower. Jacques who was on duty most of the time we were there was friendly and very helpful to our questions. Great value!

We were happy with the room and ensuite, although not overly spacious. A very comfortable bed. The staff however were polite but not particularly friendly. Despite other reviews re distances, and taking the advice of the reception staff, we found the beach to be at least 30 minutes fast walking, and La Rambla to be 15 minutes.

Professional, friendly staff. Location close to the metro and various sights. The room was clean, spacious enough and quiet. Air conditioning was working fine. The reliable WiFi was also nice. Skipping hotel breakfast will save you € 13,- a day and you can get a decent breakfast just around the corner for a fraction of the price. All in all, a clear recommendation. One complaint, though: If you stay for more than a few days, do not be surprised to find a letter being pushed under your room door asking you to pay your bill on the same day (since this is apparently hotel chain policy). I have no problem with such a payment, but it would have been nice to be informed about this policy when checking in instead of this rather anonymous and impolite act. To be fair: The receptionist quite obviously felt the same way and apologized for this hotel chain policy (and apparently not for the first time).

The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from Placa Catalunya and about 10 minutes to the old town. The room and bathroom were nice and spacious and clean. Wifi was working and and the staff was kind and helpful. We skipped breakfast in the hotel as it was too expensive and there was a coffee shop across the street and a pastry shop up the street. Our experience was quite pleasant.

The rooms were a very good size, especially the bathroom (having a bath and shower was very welcome)and comfortable. Being in a side street the hotel was quiet - but access on foot to the city centre was easy and the metro was nearby. The welcome was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. No complaints whatsoever! This was our first trip to Barcelona to see the sights and architecture - in other words a holiday! The city is amazing and we hope to make a second trip soon, to catch up on all those bits we missed. Breakfast in a nearby local pattisserie/cafe was another bonus.

Ci siamo stati 3 giorni e 4 notti.

We should have believed the Venere website, not the hotel's website which said there was a restaurant (there was, but only for breakfast) and that there were tea and coffee making equipment and an iron and ironing board (there weren't). But the breakfast was excellent, it would keep you going all day and room service in the evening was efficient and the food was good. The bathroom was fabulous - very roomy with a shower over the bath AND a separate shower. The position was very convenient to the bus station, where we arrived from the airport, and the Arco de Triomf is a landmark which enables you to find the hotel, and it is close to the metro station and 10 mins walk from the city cenre.

Did not actually stay at this hotel. We had a small accident in France which prevented us from being able to go to this hotel as scheduled. Emailed the hotel and they said they could not refund us the first night. We were not charged the second night, so I guess that is OK. Wish they could have refunded us our first night as well, but oh well. The average rating in no way reflects the hotel as again we did not have a chance to stay here.

The hotel was very close to the metro and a reasonable (but long) walk from the central area in Barcelona. The area surrounding the hotel was a little sketchy at night - as a younger female, I wouldn't have felt safe walking alone. Our room was nice and clean. Beautiful bathroom. TV didn't work, but aside from that we were pleased. Basically, it was a very good value relative the price. I would recommend it and I would return.

When we arrived we were told that there was no room available for us and the hotel initially accepted no responsibility. They eventually found us a room at a sister hotel on the outskirts of the city. I tried to lodge a complaint on the hotel internet facility, but found it difficult to navigate and expensive. The next day the Catalonia pricess had rooms for us, paid for the taxi and, when we complained again, offered us free breakfasts. However, it had spoiled our first day in Barcelona. Other than that we liked the hotel.

Venere.com was a great tool to help us find the Catalonia Princesa at the last-minute. I appreciated the immediate e-mail confirmation and the text message to my cell phone! The hotel was lovely, and in a great location, right in the old city, close to the action/shopping but not right in the middle of it! We had to depart for the airport very early. The night before we left we requested the hotel staff to order us a taxi for 4:30 am, and the taxi was there the next morning as requested! Thank you,

The hotel is located in a not very clean area but the rooms are nice. The position is 2 metro stops to the centre of the city but, above all, YOU CAN GO BY FEET TO THE NORTH BUS STATION, NEAR THE ARCH OF TRIOMPH, THAT BRINGS YOU IN ONE HOUR TO GIRONA AIRPORT! The location is verry good, close to the "Arc de Triumph". The Hotel looks new renovated, Breakfas is ok. If you open a window, you can hear each conversation from the siede-road in the night - even in the 7th floor. The empoyees are not really intrested if you want a room-change. For that kind of quality of the service are rooms too expensive.

We loved the Catalonia Princesa! The room and bathroom were large (by European standards). The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great! We had an issue with the water in the bathroom that the helpful hotel staff took care of immediately. The location was perfect. Walking distance to the beach and La Rambla but on a quiet street. We felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night. Try the restaurant next door...Restaurant de Hugo, it is delicious! One word of caution, a Scottish women also staying in the hotel had her purse snatched by a man on a moped as she exited the hotel. Be careful!

The room faced the main road and if you leave the window/door open the street noise (mainly from rhe bars across the street) can be heard but is not unbearable. The Hotel was perfect for our short stay in this wondeful city. Breakfast was good value at 10 Euros each and good quality. The hotel is a five minute walk from Arc de Triomf Metro station. If you want to stroll along to Rambla it would take however long you want it to. A brisk walk would take 15 minutes. We felt quite safe at night but as in any city caution should be shown.
