Hotel Catalonia Atenas - Barcelona

There were cockroach in the room! It was horrible! The rooms aren't spacious at all The pool was pleasant. However, it was clean only once a week so sometimes the water wasn't clear... The localisation : next to the metr station "Clot" but the neighborhood was disreputable (homeless person, alcoholic, people who smoked weed...). In conclusion, my trip was good but not thanks to the hotel which is clearly expensive for the appaling sanitary conditions!

Excellent hotel and very good staff, recommand swimming pool and snack-bar. thanks for Santiago to the desk. hotel very close of the metro station and night bus stop. Thank you very much to the team (all included cleaning ladie) for helpfull and kindness.

Access from the airport and downtown access and breakfast buffet was very anxious But not to rock deformation is also very bad from inside the room key punch operation key but no refrigerator in the room was cheap and very good Barcelona was good but next time I want to go to anather hotel

Our room was right next to the elevator shaft on the last floor and it was loud. You could here the motor the entire time. Hotel needs renovation - the furniture and rooms seem old (they were renovating second floor during our stay). Check-in was long as the receptionist was always interrupted by the ringing phone. Hotel was in a good location very close to metro station. I would return to this hotel only after its renovation.

The hotel exactly suited our requirements, being very close to the metro and public transport. Good bars/restaurants nearby. Hotel of a good standard: clean and spacious. We only took breakfast there, and this provided a wide choice. My only comment would be that there were sometimes delays at reception, which had to deal with guests and incoming phone calls. However, this is NOT a criticism of reception staff, who were friendly, efficient and pleased to help. I shall certainly use the hotel again.

Hotel clean. Staff very friendly. Ideally situated just across main road from Metro Station. Only takes a few minutes on Metro to get into Barcelona Centre. A few shops and bars round the hotel. Would definitely use again.

Requested room on 6th floor as recommend by a review i read before booking the hotel. Am pleased i did this as road outside hotel is very busy. Hotel staff were very welcoming and the hotel is located right beside a metro stop which is only 5 stops away from the stop for Las Ramblas (Catalunya)which is ideal. Hotel pool was lovely with quite a few sun loungers. Do not eat get takeaway at the small baguette place beside hotel - way too expensive. I had no issues with the air conditioning at all.

Not quite near the centre, for walking. Metro is really near so that's not a problem. Pool on the roof is barely for one person. Sunbathing is possible though. Car parking is expencive, around 20€/day. We ate in Barcelona center on Rumbla street in restaurant called "Egypte" and ... don't go there!

L'hotel nel quale abbiamo alloggiato è stato il sostituto del Catalonia Aragon in quanto la camera per noi riservata non era agibile poichè allagata da parte di alcuni ragazzi.Siamo quindi stati spostati al Catalonia Atenas (inferiore di categoria ..3* anzichè 4*,quando ci era stato detto che l'hotel ''sostitutivo'' sarebbe stato di pari qualità e categoria).Il soggiorno in hotel è stato discreto a malapena, stanza piccola con poco spazio e bagno incredibilmente piccolo.Sconsigliato vivamente per una coppia.Al totale è stato aggiunto Euro1.07 inspiegabilmente, nonostante richiesta di spiegazioni dal sottoscritto(ci tengo a precisare che si tratta di una questione di principio e non per la aggiunta minima di denaro).Nel complesso la valutazione è discreta appena,ma nonostante tutto Barcellona è spettacolare.Fortunatamente essendo giovani gran parte del tempo lo trascorrevamo al di fuori dell hotel di conseguenza l'interesse verso l'hotel è relativo.Positivissimo il riscontro con barcellona e gli spagnoli in generale, gentili e disponibili. Very close to the metro station, very good breakfast for a low Price (7,50€ per head!). If I had to come Back to Barcelona, I would choose this hotel again!

Estamos muy descontentos con el servicio en general. Durante varios años y siempre para las Navidades hemos reservado habitacion en su hotel para el mismo cliente y cada año ha tenido problemas, tanto de trato personal como del servicio en general, todo problemas. Le podemos asegurar que no volveremos a confiar en su hotel.

Everyone was very kind and efficient, from the frontdesk clerks to the bell men. we made a change at the last minute because we had to extend our stay and there was no problem, everything went smooth. during the weekend the next door group made some noise we could hear , but that was not the hotel´s fault

My "ok" to this hotel. Great price/quality relationship. Nice and spacious room, good installations, very near to metro stop. Great service received.

The hotel needs to be renovated

The 4 stars hotel doesn't have frigobar service in any room, strong box is with fee. The room we lived was with only one French window without curtain (only door) on the main road (Avda Meridiana)...

We booked this hotel after the room we had reserved with another party was cancelled due to a family emergency 4 days before our arrival. I was reluctant to book it after reading some really scathing reviews on Venere but we had little choice unless we wanted to pay 300 euros a night or stay outside the city. So our expectations were low to begin with, and we were very pleased to find the room clean and nice, not very big but you are in europe in a hotel built a long time ago, I would guess the 60s. It had a bathtub and the bed was comfortable. The only complaint we had was that it was a bit noisy, as many others have noted, probably due to the age of the building. The staff was friendly and spoke good english. The location was perfect, around the corner from the metro, which is as good as any, including Paris or London. 4 or 5 metro stops to the center of town but far enough away that you weren't in a tourist area, so good local places to eat and shop at reasonable prices were abundant. We found it to be an excellent value, and would stay there again despite the thin walls.

One small problem was the hotel clerk booked me into a room that already had a guest. I simply went down and received another available room.

The hotel is not located in the city centre but once you realise how noisy las ramblas is you are glad to be away from the centre of BCN. The rooms were clean and we did have to request a larger room (ask for the 6th floor as the rooms are much larger and have been renovated). Please note- take an iron as the room service does not supply one and you have to go and buy a travel iron. The metro is great definitely invest in the Barcelona Card as you can jump on and off public transport as much as you like. One note, someone had written the front desk staff were rude and did not treat them well. Santiago that was mentioned reminded me a bit of Faulty Towers sense of humour but once you realised he wasn't being rude and he was just trying to lighten up the day when you arrive then you realise he has a great customer service to provide and always willing to help you. Stay away from the tourist restaurants they rip you off! Try La Dolce Herminia (go to their website for directions) the food is amazing and at a quarter of the price of the other restuarants. I would definitely go back to this hotel and so much to see in BCN that it will probably take a couple of trips! Use the rooftop pool in the late afternoons - so relaxing. Enjoy!

This hotel was by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff were absolutely rude and incompetent asking guests to come back the next day and ask questions simply because he was busy at that moment. There is a staff named santiago at this hotel and personally I think he should be fired if this hotel dosn't want to run out of business real soon. The room is tiny and they even asked us to pay for the safety boxes(5 Euros per night!!) They didn't have a mini bar, and internet access was filthy expensive. I don't know if I am acting picky were whatever, but those who are contemplating on which hotel to go to, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!100% guarantee, YOU WILL REGRET!

The hotel doesn´t meet a four star category. No fridge in the room. The toilet wasn´t clean enough. The bed wasn´t too confortable (old blankets). The aircond didn´t work properly and too noisy. Employees acted correctly. (Got the first room changed).

Upon arrival the desk cleck told me the reservation number you provided was worthless. It took him about 10 minutes to find my reservation. The room was unacceptably small, the mirrow in the elevator was badly broken and overall my experience was so poor that I checked out the following morning and made other reservations on my on.

The swimming pool is closed until june

El hotel queda apartado del centro, y no hay muchos lugares cerca donde ir a comer o hacer algo. La pieza que nos dieron era muy chica, y de forma triangular, por lo que era complicado pasar al otro lado de la cama. El baño limpio pero sin ventilación. Se escuchaba todo en la pieza del lado, lo que molesta al dormir.

This hotel is well located, reasonably priced, and the service was very good. We would recommend it to others wanting to stay in Barcelona.

To much noise from the street although we was on the 5th floor! Not everything was perfect on the room too, as example , some applience to be repaired...

Creo que no merece la categoria de 4 estrellas. La habitacion era muy pequeña, la puerta del baño tenia la forma de un puñetazo, el mando de la tele estaba roto, las tablas del suelo descorchadas y aparecio un pequeño bicho en el baño por la noche. Tambien contrate el servicio de parking y en dos ocasiones tuve que bajarme del coche e ir a recepcion para que me abrieran la puerta despues de estar mas de 10 minutos llamando al timbre.

The hotel was exactly as it was described, I had a very enjoyable stay.I was travelling with my 7mth son and needed a good, clean, safe hotel, and thats exactly what I got. I would stay there again. Although it's a bit out of town, approx 4 stops on the metro, the station is practically next door to the hotel and the metro was very easy to use. i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Definitely not as you expect a 4 stars hotel to be. The room was so different from the the photos we saw. It hadn't been cleaned very well and it was not very quiet,probably because it was just next to the restaurant, but it was spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom was cold and the water not very warm. And at the reception only a couple of people could speak english.

A good hotel in general, not in the center but not far from it. the metro stop "clot" is just in front of the hotel so that it was very easy to go everywhere. on a big street but our room was on the back side so it was quiet. it was a nice room, very large! good service, staff is very kind... good experience, I would go there again!

Very too noisy and small rooms

Unbeleivable traffic noise leaval all through the night, therefore had interupted sleep for the whole seven night stay, but hotel staff helpful, friendly and made us very welcome.
