Very pleased with stay which was only for two nights and location of hotel perfect. Only comments could be that it would be good to have a bath as well as shower in room if stay had been for longer. Price of breakfast expensive. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

The staff was excellent and the place was clean. We had a hair dryer failure and they came up very quickly and opened another room for us to use that hair dryer. I guess they do not have spares. It all worked well and it was 4:30 in the morning and we had a flight to catch.

Best location ever!! Right next to Playa Espanya where you can ride the Metro to anywhere in the city. Also, it's the first stop on the Aerobus from the airport, get off and walk back approx. 200m to front door of hotel. Best of all, the Aerobus only cost E4.25 per person, what a deal! There is also a luggage rack inside bus for your luggage. We had breakfast on one morning at the hotel and it was a wonderful buffet with all the fruits, rolls, coffee, juice, eggs and sausage, bacon, ham and more. Would absolutely recommend this hotel for it's location, cleanliness, and courteous staff. We will stay there again upon return to Barcelona. Cynthia and Gary

The hotel was good, the desk staff were very friendly and helpful. What let it down for us was the breakfast staff. Very incompetent. When we arrived for breakfast, we couldn't see a free table. The waiter said he would clear one for us and then forgot us so we waited ages. Made three attempts to get HOT water for our tea, everytime it was tepid! Had to resort to coffee. There were no eggs, asked the waiter who said he would get some more. It took another reminder and 10 minutes before they arrived. There were only tiny plates next to the hot food and large plates on the other side of the room with the cakes. The whole layout of the plates, food was not good.

I have stayed twice at the Gran Via, and would return in a heartbeat. The staff are young, dear, smart and infinitely helpful. The rooms are impeccable. The hotel is situated a stone’s throw from the Placa d’España. (I use the term “infinitely helpful”. Tall claim. Here’s the context—my wife and I were driving back into Barcelona during rush hour. A man on a scooter signaled to us that we had a flat tire. He suggested a place to change the tire, and drove off. I pumped up the tire and set out. Other scooters drove up, tried to help, and drove away. It wasn’t until later that we noticed a bag missing from the back seat. The bag’s contents included a professional digital camera, credit and ATM cards, drivers’ licenses, cell phones, money. My Chicago street-cred pride was rather crushed--we had just been robbed by a most pleasant, collaborative, non-violent and skillful group of thieves. The Barcelona Prefecture of Police was not surprised. Evidently, this MO happens a lot [a word of warning]. We were left with no money, no ability to pay the hotel, and the leased French car took one week to change the tire. We were therefore forced to extend our stay at the Gran Via while we regained our identities piece by piece. The staff was infinitely helpful. We returned to Barcelona six weeks later and took the practical precaution of driving with windows down and a wooden club in hand. Our Chicago Plan: to disable the scooter of any thief who might attempt to slash our tires…. The return was uneventful.)

My woman friend and I had only a long weekend, and needed a place accessible by public transportation, near tourist sites, and quiet at night. This hotel was perfect, and I recommend it to any kind of traveller--for business or pleasure. We did not get the expensive breakfast, and we found the staff helpful in every way. so glad they're on you site.

Siamo stati a Barcellona 4gg a Pasqua. Qualità e comfort sono eccellenti. Mi sento di consigliare l'hotel a occhi chiusi. Non essendo centralissimo, lo ritengo adatto soprattutto a chi vive la città più di giorno che di notte.

Nice hotel, spacious and modern rooms. Hotel well located, two blocks away from gthe metro station, one block away from the Plaza Espagna and the Mont Juic fountains.. Some small restaurants within walking distance. Children friendly. Good breakfast (very good variety and quality buffet, including all sorts of eggs and breads). Friendly staff..

Having booked on a cruise sailing from Barcelona, we decided to stay there before and after the cruise. We booked through venere.com as we had booked previously through this company in Amsterdam and so knew that they gave a good price and hotel. The Ayre Gran Via was excellent value for money, very clean and the staff were really efficient. It was so quiet in our room even though we were close to the Gran Via, which is the main road to the airport. If you use the Aerobus it is the first stop from the airport. You get off and turn back the way the bus has come, and the hotel is about 200 meters from the bus stop. Although our room rate did not include breakfast, we had it and found that the quality and menu were also excellent. Being English we like a cooked breakfast with bacon and eggs, and this was prepared freshly for us. The hotel was also close to Place Espanya and the tourist bus. It was also withing walking distance of Place Catalunya, La Rambla and the seafront We thought that the hotel was perfect and would definitely visit again if we return to Barcelona. We will recommend it to all our friends.

The hotel is close to the Espagna metro station. Easy to reach Lambra St., Catalunya and Port Velle by metro. Also airport is only 15 minutes away by aerobus. Everything with the hotel was perfect except the noise coming from the busy street. But if you book the rooms on the other side, you can get rid off the noise. Friendly and helpful personnel. Nice place, nice price!

We stayed here in October & on my review then I said that we liked it so much that we'd come back in August, which we did. This is a smashing hotel but on our first night this time round there was vomit on one of the pillows from the previous occupant & the walls were a bit dirty so that was disappointing. However, the pro's far outweigh the con's. The hotel is in a great location for getting around Barcelona, just off Playa Espanya. The staff are very helpful & competent. Generally the hotel is very quiet & very clean. Great shower & the electric blinds black out the room completely which is useful if you've had a few too many Estrella's the night before.... or so I'm told.

We stayed here for 3 days prior to a cruise. The Ayre Gran Via is in a nice location, close to multiple lines on the metro with Placa Espanya only a short 1 block walk. There are some nice "local" type restaurants within a few blocks walk up Gran Via, and some more eclectic type places towards the University. Poble Espanol is only a few blocks away, as are the Magic Fountains in the evening at Barcelona University. Overall we found it to be well appointed, clean, modern rooms. Great bathrooms. Flat panel TV's. Etc. We liked the location, especially since it wasn't in the main tourist areas. We found it to be within a few metro stops of everywhere we wanted to go. We enjoyed the hotel, the only negatives are the inabilty to put 4 to a room (an issue throughout much of Barcelona). We ended up booking 2 doubles, but could have gotten by with 4 in 1 room if they had allowed it. We'd stay there again.

Beautiful hotel, close to Metro station so major attractions easily accessible. Staff were extremely efficient and helpful. My only complaint would be the cleaning ladies walking straight into our room at 8.30 on first morning and returning 20 minutes later - we knew to put the do not disturb sign up next morning! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Mt. Juvic Also, Hop on, Hop off bus stop is just one block away - from hotel turn right and go up a block. We were directed to a farther bus stop. Use of computer convenient - small fee.

Good 4* hotel with modern clean rooms; the only disadvantage is probably its distance from the city centre (30 mins walk, 3-4 metro stops). There are of course things to do around (Montjuic) and the exit to the airport is that way (10-15 mins by bus).

Very stylish hotel, but some impractical points: bedside cabinet that was simply a solid block of wood might be very contemporary and modern, but a ridiculous waste of useful space. Also, very "stylish" sliding doors throughout are very nice until their bearings need lubrication and they grind and make a frightful noise. Was definitely NOT impressed with the fact that the hotel bar closed ridiculously early - 11 pm - just when you fancy a drink before bed. Staff attitude was "well, go and find somewhere else then" "Do you know anywhere else?" "No, but look around, there must be somewhere..." Charming attitude.

Loved the hotel! On the map, and reading other reviews, you think it's a further out than it really is. I've been to Barcelona 3 times now, and this was definately my favorite visit, and the hotel really made it. It's in an ideal location, near the Poble Espana and other tourist sights, and only 5 mins on the underground to the Plaza Cataluna. The hotel itself is only a 2 minute walk to the underground station, and it's on the main line (L1), so you are quickly inot the city and all over the place. It's also the right side of the city for the airport, so the taxi was cheaper than going intot the Ramblas or further into the city itself. (20 Euros, and some how more on the way back?!) We only had breakfast, but it was really nice. A good variety of food from fruit to fried eggs. The reception staff were friendly enough too. The room we had (508) was one was overlooking the corner of the main street and was very quiet, nice and clean. The only small complaint would be that the bed had those horrible plastic matress covers on them! I know they are for hygene reason, but they make you sweat, eek they're awful. I know most people want to be on the Ramblas, but having once had my bag pick pocketed there, I keep away from the place now. This hotel is in a great location and I had a really good long week-end. I'll definately be going back, and would definately use this hotel again.

This hotel has a modern feel to it, like The Standard in Los Angeles. The rooms are a bit small and they all face an inner court yard. They were washing the windows while we were resting. The room was also really stuffy. The desk staff was very nice and helpful. They held our luggage for us after we checked out for the day. The restaurant in the hotel is also very nice and quite good. There were a lot of bakeries right near the hotel. It's next door to a main metro station and the tourist buses that take you around the city.

This hotel was nice, but I wouldn't stay here for the price we paid. It wasn't a bargin and was a metro ride away to Las Ramblas, the water front areas. Also the room service food wasn't great and had very little selection. Other then that the room was clean and big.

This is a nice, modern, business-type hotel. Travelling with my husband on his first trip to Europe, this was a good "transition" hotel for him, as the facilities are nice, comfortable, and modern. However, it is quite a distance from the center of town (Plaza Catalunya). It is, however, right near Plaza d'Espana and Montjuic sights, with very close Metro and bus stops, or you can use the Bus Turistic rather than public transport if you prefer. Bed is comfortable, shower is wonderful, and the free water in the mini-fridge is a nice touch. The breakfast is a very nice spread but overpriced at 10 Euro.

The hotel was really lovely, well-decorated, clean and the staff was excellent. If you were going to a convention it is right near a big convention center, and also near a metro station. It wasn't quite walking distance to very many of the main tourist areas, but is quite close and the neighborhood is nice. The metro is so fast and easy to use, the location isn't a problem at all. I wish there was a store in the hotel where you could buy some snacks, drinks and larger bottles of water (they offer complimentary water in the fridge, which is wonderful), because there is nothing near the hotel. So pick up snacks and drinks before you get on the metro to go back to the hotel if you think you will want them. Other than that the hotel is just excellent, we were very impressed. The staff was excellent as well, extremely helpful and friendly.

BARCELLONA E' FAVOLOSA!!

Nice clean modern hotel. Staff and service are not so welcoming. Buffet breakfast shouldn't charge different prices for hot or cold items. This is petty. There are no convenience stores around the hotel. The metro station is very close however. My stay was 3 nights.

Very clean and comfortable hotel rooms. Bathroom very spacious, shower only, no tub, which we didn't mind at all. Only problem, which was not their fault, was street level construction. Also the Metro station entailed a lot of walking underground.

Overall this was a great hotel in a phenomenal location in Barcelona. The access to the Museum of Modern Art (there is a great fountain show which starts in the evening every night) couldn't have been better, and the metro was a very short distance from the hotel. The public transportation was very accessible and easy to use, especially for first time travellers to Europe. The airport is also very close and should run about 12-15 euros to get you to the hotel. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were both friendly and accomodating. The only complaint we had was the fact that the bed was very hard, which we found to be the case in every hotel we stayed at in Spain (there were 4 total). The restauraunt food was mediocre and a bit expensive. There are a few great cafes down the street which serve great food at a very reasonable price. There is also a supermarket close to the hotel which is very handy, and the rooms come with a small fridge to store food bought there. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay there again.
