Hotel Avenida Palace - Barcelona

If you do not speak Spanish, take a taxi to the hotel. Getting directions from Placa Catalunya was VERY difficult. The hotel staff means well, but gave out wrong information about local museums and subway travel. They also underestimated travel times. The hotel is very nice and quiet and is located in the old part of Barcelona. If you're a history buff, it's in the right place for you.

An old style hotel in the central area of the town. Good, but not really outstanding. Most of all, ventilation should be improved. And more touristic information and some maps should be available at the front desk.

We had a quiet room facing the nice street. The location is excellent! It's just 5 minutes walk to the most happening La Rambla. It's in the most trendy area in the city, with a lot of nice restaurants and boutiques around. The room and the hotel itself is stylish and classic. We enjoyed our stay there.

We were in Barcelona to celebrate our son's graduation as well as our anniversary. What a great city and what a superb hotel. just a stone's throw away from the Place Catalunya and many of the other landmarks. The only criticism of the hotel is that the staff could be a bit warmer towards their clients and the breakfast at 18 euros was very expensive- we did not partake!

We were satisfied all except bathroom.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Avenida Palace. The only minor complaint we had was that sometimes we had to wait on line at the front desk to get our key to go to the room. The room was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We thought the extra charges were a bit high, i.e. use of the internet, breakfast, mini-bar etc. We chose to eat breakfast at a cafeteria nearby.

The hotel staff was very helpful and the went out of their way to help us with places to see and eat. The room was spacious for Europe, bathroom was new and modern. The hotel location was perfect, you could go anywhere you wanted and everything was close by.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay. The hotel definitely met our standard, and on many counts -- location, professional and prompt staff -- exceeded it. We could walk to many of the highlights of Barcelona, or get onto a nearby bus or subway. I had trouble with the internet connection in the room, but this was eventually sorted following a phone call to the service provider. I am happy to recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel over our 1st honey-moon night, at despite its luxurious abmience the service and attitude was not that magnific. Though i have no concrete claims or discontents.

A very good hotel in a great location: only two steps from smart Paseo de Gracia and Ramblas. Not everyone at front desk is polite, but we paid only 110euros per night, that is a very reasonable price for a four stars hotel in centre. Breakfast was not included. To park the car is quite expensive, but it is normal in downtown.

Hotel Avenida Palace has a great location. It is clean and has a great welcoming employee at the door. The bad part, ambience too formal like a decadent palace, not relaxing, the hotel has no parking, our room was too small and dark. But the worst was the personnel at reception, competent but not friendly at all. We changed hotels before our trip was over. I would think twice before coming back.

Very pleasant hotel in very excellent location. Convenient to Barri Gotic as well as Passeig de Gracia. Room was comfortable and quiet with a good sized bathroom for a European hotel.

Hotel is very well located. Staff is competent and helpful. Good service, pleasant atmosphere. Place to be recommended for a short stay in Barcelona.

Well situated,quiet and very easy for visiting the city

The only complaint I have is that I had to waite 2 hours for our room to be made ready,we arrived at the hotel at 14.00hrs and it was 16.00hrs before we could use the room.

Every thing at the avenida palace was excellent,staff,jnr suite,location,need i go on? it was perfect. so easy to find the attractions. the receptionist booked us in to a fab restaurant(she recommended it)called la dama it was perfect,i would recommend it. good bar/tapas to the right as you come out of the hotel,on the corner.

Nice hotel but breakfast was very poor on choice for the price being charged. We chose to have breakfast in local restaurants. Self service coffee is quite acceptable even in a four star hotel and we found it intrusive to have to request each cup. Restaurant prices for lunch advertised outside the hotel and in the lift did not seem to reflect the quality of breakfast

The Avenida Palace is a perfect place to stay in Barcelona. The location is superb. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are extremely comfortable and attractive. My room was more like a suite, with a separate sitting room. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

This hotel exceeded our expectation with location, quality, space and the employees.

Lovely hotel. Central location. Staff, both at reception and upstairs very helpful. Front desk staff helped us with the organisation of excursions and entertainment. Breakfast restaurant rather pricey. Lighting in the bedroom could have been better. enjoyed our four night stay very much. Had been recommended this hotel by a relative.

Excellent traditional Hotel. Friendly, efficient and attentive staff. In perfect location for all transport/tour services, shops and restaurants. I will now always use this Hotel when in Barcelona.

Excellent central location. Nicely refurbished rooms and very quiet at back of hotel. Car parking arrangements poor and expensive but cheaper can be found in the area. Overall an excellent place to stay in central Barcelona.

I was an exchange student staying for the weekend as I got adjusted to the city. I was going to be studying Barcelona as an exchange student and overall the hospitality or welcoming I received was not as I had expected.

Great hotel in a great location.

The hotel were refurbishing while we were there which meant only one lift was working - other than this minor thing we had a fantastic stay - the staff were extremely helpful and the location perfect for shopping and sightseeing - I would definately come back !!!

This hotel is actually nicer than the images on the website. Breakfasts are excellent. Our room overlooked a busy avenue and yet the soundproofing kept street noises at bay. The only drawback was a poor level of temperature control in the room (we were too warm)

Excellent location 1 block from Plaza Catalunya and Ramblas. Beautiful, beautiful building and rooms. Even the rooms facing the streets were quiet. Management was excellent - permitting me an extra room one night when I was sick, as well as allowing me to stay later in the day before catching the train in the evening. Pricey restaurant, though. I will definitely stay here again in the future.
