Hotel Atenea - Barcelona

This was the first time I stayed this Hotel. Location, Hotel staff, Facilities are really excellent.

Good accomodation and location. Close to subway station to go anywhere and then have a rest in a quiet part of this wonderful city.

Positive points: - Very well situated near the subway - Street quiet - Room very spacious Negative points: - Romm not very clean - Curtains too short(in the morning you are awaked by the sunlight)

This was our fifth summer at Atenea. Great hotel. Goid rooms. Excellent breakfast. Good service. Just one complaint: internet access really not working in the room. When asked about this, the staff seemed confused. Internet worked to some extent in the lobby, but much too slow. Really room for improvement.

Nice clean spacious rooms, the sofa bed is small-only fits 1 person, surrounding area is quiet and convenient, near dept store and other facilities, ease of access to taxi and public transportation.

Today the hotel is definitely not a 4 star any more. It needs some renovation. We traveled with two kids. The sofa is o.k. for young kids. Everything was well cleaned but did not really give a clean impression. We did not use the kitchen which seemed to be clean and well equiped. The rather big room could be seperated with a sliding door.

I really enjoy accommodation in Atenea. The price is much cheaper if your book early. very near to Nou Camp, about 10 min's walk. The standard double room has a kitchen in it. I will go there again. Next time, to watch Barca game.

The hotel is very near to the metro,so we could go every place. The staff was very competent and helped us in every thing we needed,the room was very clean.We did certainly enyoy our stay at the hotel and recommend it.

BREAKFAST WAS GOOD NEEDS SOME IMPORVMENT ADING SOME DIFFRENT TYPE OF BREAD, GENERALY WAS GOOD.

Comfortable, in a quiet location with good breakfast! Truly recommended.

Good for a short stay

The room is about the kitchen they day I was able to borrow because of rain and cookware were also able to dine at their wasted food. Rooms are spacious and very clean, and can stay in this room did not think at this price! ! ! However, the website stated that there was a rental cycle, as it really is a shame that only people living in Spain.

Very big rooms very well located, near the tube

We stay in 2 rooms with triple accomodation. the rooms were really clean, spacious, light and confortable. The small kitchens are well equipped for what we needed in a short stay.

Quite distant from the center, in a quiet and well serviced location. Fortunately a metro station can be found few steps away.

Good hotel rooms... quite, peaceful & spacious. However, completely self service... did not see any staff other than in the reception. Did not have any meals, thus no comments on the same.

Bellissimo albergo, ben posizionato in zona tranquilla ma vicino alla fermata della metro, ha risposto in modo eccellente alle nostre aspettative. Comodo l'angolo cottura e la nostra tripla era quasi un appartamento. Rapporto prezzo/qualità ottimo. Lo consiglio tranquillamente.

The shower was either hot or cold no medium. The room was large and fitted the 3 of us well and the little kitchen area was a bonus. The hotel is 2 min from the metro which was very helpfull in getting around.

Excellent location in Barcelona even if it is in the business district. The hotel is close to metros and plenty of cafes around for breakfast. The hotel should add directions for someone driving from airport to their website. Only problems: air conditioner was leaking into the kitchen; my daughter was sleeping on the sofa bed and found it quite noisy, very squeaky; although there was a small kitchen, there was no kettle i.e. couldn't make a cup of coffee. We stayed 3 nights.

Not quite a four star hotel. Need new carpet. Other than that, it's considered pretty clean, close to metro, not a bad neighbourhood.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for four nights. We booked only about two weeks in advance and we were able to get somewhat of a deal through the Internet so we went with this hotel. It wasn't great, but wasn't horrible either. Our room contained two single beds, but they were touching and we could not separate them because there was no room on either side. The room was quite big and it contained a kitchen, bathroom with shower, and air conditioning unit. We didn't use the kitchen so I'm not sure if everything worked, the bathroom was okay but hard to find a decent pressure with the shower. Some mornings that towels were kind of dirty and we found that the cleaning staff didn't always leave the bathroom clean after cleaning it (i.e. hair still left everywhere). The beds I found were fine; however, my friend found hers very uncomfortable. The location was good, not in the city centre, but easily accessible by the metro which is only about 1-2min walk. So, considering these above points, the hotel was fine. However, the staff really made our stay not enjoyable. We were sight-seeing so we asked them for directions to two different places but they directed us in the wrong direction both times which was a terrible inconvenience, time-waster and frustrating for us. Also, I needed assistance with another sight-seeing question and the staff did not seem to care to help me at all. There is also a computer in the lobby but it was not working for half of our stay.

It was a very good stay

Hotel fantastico. camere molto spaziose e ben arredate, dotate di ogni comfort (aria condizionata, frigo bar...). La nostra camera era dotata anche di cucina, benché non lo avessimo richiesto. La colazione inclusa nel prezzo è ricchissima e in grado di soddisfare ogni gusto. Sicuramente un albergo da consigliare!

You have to ask at the desk for a box of kitchen utensils, and a microwave if you need them (and I gather there are limited numbers of microwave ovens)

While the rooms are more those of a 3 star hotel and not 4 (but without anything speacial to complain about), the fact that there is kitchen is very nice when you are traveling with kids. The staff was very helpful. There is a free internet station in the lobby, and the breakfast was much more than I expected. I would consider it a 5 star hotel breakfast. It is not in the city center but the metro station (with metro every 3 minutes untill midnight) was less than 5 min walking. Important for young childrens - a lot of childrens playing grounds nearby.

This was our first trip to Barcelona. I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast provided was excellent. Staff was extremely helpful!!

Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Ci ritornerei. Stanze spaziose (la ns aveva anche l'uso cucina) e pulite. Stazione del metro raggiungibile a piedi in pochi minuti. Colazione molto buona. Unico neo: materasso un poco scomodo (duro)

The hotel is wonderful. The only inconvenient we had, was the weather: it rained the three days we stay there.

My room was on the seventh (last) floor, terrible noise and vibration (machinery probably) came through the ceiling throughout my stay and it almost kept me awake one night. Room service opened the door on two occasions at around 8 AM while I was still in bed. The breakfast is OK but staff not too professional. The hotel is close to two metro stations (5 minutes walk). Internet access is open and strong in lobby but was weak in my room. The hotel is generally OK and the price is good, but steer clear of the seventh floor especially room 701.

Very nice hotel, totally met my expectations; large enough room; great breakfast selection, including very tasty pastry and cakes; close to the metro station; the area is rather a business area (thus there are good restaurants around, the hotel's restaurant was a bit too expensive and sophisticated for my taste); would definitely return here.

Ottimo hotel, camere spaziose ben arredate e pulite. Da apprezzare: un piccolo locale cucina con frigo, connessione internet wifi, colazione eccellente e abbondante. Ben collegata con la metro (a 2 minuti dall'hotel) al centro di Barcellona.

We selected this hotel because of the location (near to camp nou). the hotel was better than we ever expected. friendly and very helpful, staff, large (!!) rooms and very clean. the breakfast was great. the location was perfect - only a few minutes away from the metro station.

We stayed at The Hotel Atenea for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. We arrived early and were given a large room on the 7th floor. It was very quiet in the room and we didn't hear other guests. The room was very clean. The staff were very polite and helpful and there was a very good choice of breakfast. I had never seen cake being offered as a breakfast option before and there was lots of chice of teabags. My only complaint was that the cooked breakfast was fairly cold and as such not vey appetising. The hotel is a short walk from the metro station and about 20 mins ride in a taxi from the airport. We had a fantastic stay in the hotel and loved Barcelona.

The Hotel is very well placed, near el Corte Inglês, Plaça Maria Cristina and Institute Dexeus. You have Subway, Bus, and Tram near the Hotel. There are many places to eat close to the Hotel, like for instance the restaurant "Mussol" and the one of Institute Dexeus, and you have the supermarket of El Corte Inglês and also very good food to take away on the same floor of the supermarket.

Rooms are very clean, breakfast excelent; parking not included and very expensive

Nice hotel!

A good hotel, it was great to have a room with a TV area and a sliding dividing door especially as I was traveling with a teenager. Close to Metro stop Les Corts which is only 5 minutes from the Sants station. There is a market close to the hotel and also a huge department store. Good restaurant near hotel is La Botega. close to bus routes on Ave Diagonal. Would definitely recommend - night staff were friendlier than the day staff. Good security.

Hotel Atenea fully met my expectations. The personnel was very efficient and warm.

My first time to Barcelona. The hotel is nice however it is quite removed form the area most tourist would like to vist. We stayed because our sons wanted to attend the soccer match and it ws great for that. The rooms are not as the pictures seem but never the less still nice. There are very good restaurants and shopping nearby.

We spent ten days in Barcelona. In the aparthotel we used also the kitchen service that was well equipped.

Very well located, near subway station and shopping Corte Ingles. Spacious and clean room, with equiped kitchen. Recommend.

The only problem I met is that wireless Intenet access was expected but acyually worked only 10% of time and was unstable.

Good location close to the excellent Barcelona Metro system and close to the Diagonal, Barcelona's up-market shopping street. Staff friendly and helpful. Great breakfast but we often had to wait for a table.

We were 3 adults. we got, as we requested, 3 seperate beds, non smoking room. the room was big enough. the area is a neighbourhood serrounding and quiet enough. the breakfast was excellent, rich and tasty. the main advantage is that, although the hotel location is not central, its distance from the closest metro station is only 3 minutes (line 3, green line, les cortes). the stuff was very helpfull. there is a computer connected to the internet with free access.

It's a definitelly not a 4 star hotel. Two stars is the most!Prety noisy and you have to request everything, even the iron (and sometimes they won't have it). The whole concept of an apartment is one room devided into two parts. Absolutelly not enough for 3 people. The only convenience is that the subway and a supermarket are very close.

Not fully central location, but well connected through metro line at 100 meters. Surroundings with a few of the largest shopping centers of Barcelona on a primary street as Diagonal. Each room is also equipped with a small kitchen. Excellent breakfast with a great variety of choices.

The hotel is very nice to stay. The breakfast is excellent. Near from subway.

Buon hotel da consigliare, scarichi dei bagni rumorosi ma sopportabile. Comodo il centro commerciale a due passi, la zona di notte risulta tranquilla. Scomodo per chi pensa di ritornare tardi la notte a meno che non si prenda il taxi. Giudizio comunque molto buono. Conviene fare la prima colazione in hotel.

Hotel excellent Employees do not speak french but are very nices and obliging Restaurant has not a lot off variety for the dinner

Will definitely choose this hotel again during any stay at Barcelona. Easy access to the city and very good and spacious rooms.

Hotel spettacolare!! Le stanze sono ampie (nelle triple il terzo letto è un divano letto ma non è scomodo) e la colazione è molto abbondante!!! E' collegato benissimo...si trova in mezzo a 2 fermate della linea 3 (verde). Internet è a disposizione nella sala comune sia con un pc che con una linea wi-fi! Qualità/Prezzo OTTIMA!!! CONSIGLIATISSIMO!!! P.s. per chi va a barcellona per divertimento...le discoteche sono tutte li vicino...!!

Great Bed and Breakfast, very close to metro "Les Corts", 3 minutes away walking. A little bit away from city centre and the beach but taxi is inexpensive and metro takes you to Rambla area within 8 minutes. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Sólo una queja: el precio del parking indicado en la confirmación de reserva (19.20 €/dia) no se corresponde en absoluto con la realidad: unas 12 horas me costó 25.35 €. Deberían tener mejores tarifas para los clientes del hotel.

Very good hotel in quiet and nice neighborhood. However, you need to allow some time to travel by metro to the central touristic locations. Renovated restaurant, decent breakfast which was included in our room reservation. Rooms, lobby and corridor look a little outdated, but clean and well maintained. Staff are helpful and very polite. Free internet service and daily newspapers in the lobby were additional bonus.

Good price/quality hotel. Situated only 300 meters from the subway station "Les Corts", on the main axis Linea 3 = direct connection to the main places of interest in Barcelona (Plaça d'Espanya,Plaça de Catalunya (with departure of the "bus turistic", that circles throughout the city every 5 minutes) , Rambla,Montjuich harbour... Don't bother about the hotel surroundings: no need to pay a fortune for a lower class hotel in or nearer to the center. Wonderful breakfast buffet - warm and cold - spanish "champagne" (cava) included. Free internet connected computer at the lobby. Most friendly staff. Minor remarks : quietness of the rooms: ok, except when some neighbour (beside or upstairs) flushes the toilet or thinks he must take a bath in the middle of the night. The flowing water makes a "deafening" noise. The old sofa in the room was almost worn and could be cleaner. Conclusion : highly recommended, also for business travelers and corporate(see facilities and conference rooms)

Great hotel!!!

Not very easy to find at first, but ok thereafter. close to metro, bus and nice walk to town and shopping. We liked the room and the splendid breakfat buffet. the staff is courteous and the sevice is great

Stayed with my partner for a part work, part social visit. Location for our requirements was excellent with access to transport a short walk away. I was suprised that there was no equipment in the kitchen area but ate out. Would stay there again and with the children.

I loved the hotel. Clean, quiet, spacious and in a convenient location - metro nearby.

If you go with 3 persons in the same room the third person should not pay the same as the others because the place to sleep is a sofa not a good bed. The rest is fine, with a nice localization.

Excellent city centre hotel, with benefit of excellent restaurant on site. Cannot recommend it enough.

Great place, but needs some improvements regarding ability to connect to wireless internet in rooms. The general atmosphere is a little bit cold.

Good location, with nearby underground and Corte d´Inglez. Spacious, modern-looking, clean and quiet room with kitchenette for 2 adults plus 1 teenager. Great price, although we have been there during the Easter holidays in 2004. Do not get late for breakfast, or U might end up in a queue.

Ottimo hotel con camere molto spaziose e con dotazione di cucina. la zona e' molto animata pur non essendo proprio centrale. a 100 mt. da due fermate del metro che in 10 minuti portano sulle ramblas. sontuoso buffet con incredibile varietà di cibi.

Room are nice but plumbing noise can be disturbing. Parking fees are very high. The lack of inexpensive parking while staying at the hotel is a major drawback of booking lodging at Atenea

Everything was quite excellent. A quiet place, near the metro station. Would recommend to everybody.

Our stay at the hotel was fine. The breakfast buffet was the most extensive one we encountered--especially the array of fruit. We were also pleased that we were able to check into our room even though we arrived about 9 a.m.! Two complaints: soap was not supplied until the third day we were there (after we had already helped ourselves from the maid's cart) and the beds were the hardest we have encountered anywhere.

Excellent stay in Barcelona. Very good room (we had a triple, enough for 2 adult and 2 children) and good Breakfast. Close to Metro Station, parking available for cars. Certainly we'll come back.

The hole stay in Barcelona was exellent for us, so it must be exellent too you to! The breakfast was very good and had everyting we liked.

Excellent Hotel, good location. Kitchen was lacking some essential items - but were available. Our room was perfect for the three of us.

Fantastic breakfast, close to public transport and tour bus stop. Taxi from la rambla at night was 10 euros.

We liked very much the kitchen and possible use of it. Buffet breakfast was very varied.

We had a very good stay over New Year and found the cost to be very reasonable. The rooms were of a good standard and the service was professional.

Looking for a place to lay our head, we were very pleasantly surprised to have a two roomed apartment with catering and bathroom facilities as well, and also have an "eat as much as you like" breakfast buffet included in an already very competitive price. The hotel was immaculate, with very helpful, English speaking staff on reception. The location was literally only 100 metres from the Les Corts metro station which was perfect for getting into the centre of Barcelona, and even to the airport at the end of our stay. This is a very deserving 4 star hotel at a 3 star price. Thanks for everything.

Very good breakfast

Allover review is good. I remarked, that not all of the reception staff are english spoken. I think, it's necessary in such an international hotel. I missed the sevice of carrying the luggage to the rooms by an employee or boy.

This hotel is amazing value. A very nice hotel that you would expect to pay more for. It is well located with shops nearby and Metro (Les Corts) right by it. Great rooms, helpful staff, overall a glowing recommendation

It was an excellent hotel. The price was very excellent, breakfast was very good. We have pay about the same price than a "Pension". I recommend this hotel for everybody. Sincerely

I am very pleased with my stay at Atenea. I would stay there again.

La chambre était présentée comme étant un "aparthotel", avec une cuisine équipée. La partie chambre et salle de bain était satisfaisante (à part de lit d'appoint qui était de piètre qualité). Par contre, la cuisine était minuscule (passe encore) et il manquait crucialement de couverts et d'assiettes, ce qui la rendait pratiquement inutilisable.

Well located, value for money, will use again.

Good clean hotel good location/base

The hotel was in a good location - not in the noisy centre, a little out, but right beside an underground station - peaceful and safe. the hotel itself was excellent, very clean, spacious rooms and helpful staff. it is very pricey considering you are not central, don't have any meals included and have basic facilities in the room. However, I very much enjoyed my stay there and would recommend this hotel to anyone who requires self catering accomodation in a hotel environment.

The apartment was spacious with a nice little kitchen, and the staff was wonderful. The location is good, but not exactly "in the heart" of things, but overall, a good choice. A short taxi ride takes you most anywhere.

We just had a problem contacting the hotel for the first time as they didn't know about our booking but after having sorted that out everything was alright! We were very satisfied with our choice!

There was no working aircondition in the room

Good Hotel. Very expensive breakfast. Not so close to the centre of Barcellona as claimed in the web page, but Metro is very close and comfortable in B.

Atenea was a nice, comfortable place to stay. I stayed in a 3-bed apt which was nice and roomy for 3 people. Though we didn't use the kitchen facility, I can see how it could be useful to others. The hotel lobby is spacious and airy, but I reckon the hotel gets its 4 stars for its business facilities - which were of no use to us. The rooms are probably 3* standard, but as I said, they were comfortable. The location is reasonable - its on the airport side of the city, so taxi fares from the airport aren't bad. Its not all that central though, so taxis cost about 12 euro into town, if i remember correctly. There is a Metro station very close-by however, which is only 4 or 5 stops from downtown, which is handy by day. Overall, a pleasant stay and pretty quiet, away from the madness of the city!

If we return to Barcelona again we will for certain book the same Hotel. Breakfast was good. Hotel is situated near a subwaystation and a supermarket. Overall we had a good stay!!!!!!
