We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It was a really good deal. Rooms are clean and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast/buffet. Hotel location is accessible. You have metro nearby 10 mins walk or you can get the bus to city centre. I recommend this hotel. Good value for money for around 100 euros.

We stayed at the hotel 2 nights. they brought us a basket of fruits the first day, which was very nice. Everything was very clean specially the bathroom. The lady at the front desk was very helpful with all the information that we needed. The room was large and in general we were very please. The distance to Las Ramblas was about 40 minutes, but the walk was nice. The hotel was in a busy intersection but it was quiet at night. The only thing that we didn't like was that the Air Conditionig was not cooling enough. We didn't tell them anything because ours was a short stay and the temperature was not that bad. Overall was a very nice stay.

Very basic facilities - ok for business travellers I guess. No room service or any other facilities to speak of. Far from town - We were to return to Barcelona after a week - so we moved to another hotel on Las Ramblas and within the same budget.

Very nice hotel, all was ok. The metro is a little bit far (10 minutes) but... maybe it's better to go to the center directly by feet (20-30 minutes and you're in the ramblas).

We were quite pleased with our stay. For the most part things were as "reviews" indicated. The requested taxi for 6:00 am did not show up and when another arrived 20 minutes later it appeared that the driver may have had a business relationship with the man at the desk. We had four rooms. The other members of our group were equally pleased. Another visit we might try to find something a little closer to transportation, but for the price a little walk was worth it. We recommend this hotel.

Amister has been the third hotel in Barcelona, I tried. It convinced me. Next time I'll travel to Barcelona, first hotel price I'll check, will be Amister. One detail of welcoming: There was a plate with a big assortment of fruits as welcoming-present in the room. Quietness of the room: Av. Roma is a busy street and not far away is a hospital with many incoming ambulances, so that the traffic noise is disturbing as you try to sleep with open window. As windows are closed, the room is completly quiet.

NICE HOTEL. HUGE BED AND EXCELLENT BATHROOM EVEN THOUGH MAID FAILED TO REPLENISH SHAMPOO ETC EVERY DAY.STAYED 3 NIGHTS AND 4 FULL DAYS WHICH IS ABOUT RIGHT TO TAKE IN ALL OF BARCELONA. HOTEL ABOUT 10 MINS FROM NEAREST METRO AND PLEASANT WALK TO LAS RAMBLAS(25-30 MINS BRISK WALK). BREAKFAST IN LCAL CAFE FINE AS HOTEL A BIT PRICEY ALTHOUGH LANGUAGE WAS A BIT OF AN ISSUE AS NOT MANY OF THE LOCALS SPOKE ENGLISH. TRIED SOME RESTAURANTS IN HOTEL AREA AND FOOD QUALITY EXCELLENT EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT SURE WHAT WE WERE ORDERING. TIP TAKE A SPANISH/CATLAN ENGLISH DICTIONARY. PRICES A BIT STEEP NEAR MAJOR SITES. £7.50 FOR A BEER NEAR CATHEDRAL.NO SIGN OF ANY PICK POCKETS ALTHOUGH WE WERE WARNED SEVERAL TIMES BY LOCALS TO HANG ON TO HAND BAGS. USED METRO LOTS. GOT THE 10 TRIP TICKET AND THAT WAS FINE FOR 4 DAYS. BUS TRIP TO AIRPORT GREAT AND ONLY TAKES 1HR 10 MINS.LEFT CASES AT BUS STATION ON LAST DAY IN LOCKERS ONLY £5.00.BUSES ARE SET TO PLANE TIMES SO GET YOU THERE WITH PLENTY OF TIME. WENT ON OPEN TOP TOUR BUS.BIT PRICEY BUT BEST WAY TO SEE SITES. BEWARE THERE ARE 2 COMPANIES DOING THIS. YOU CAN BUY TICKETS FOR ONE AT THE TOURIST INFO PLACES BUT THESE BUSES GET VERY CROWDED AND HARD TO GET A SEAT ON TOP DECK. GO TO THE OTHER COMPANY AND BUY TICKET ON BUS. SAME PRICE BUT LOTS OF ROOM ON TOP.GET ON AND OFF AT ANY STOP. OVERALL A GOOD TRIP. BIT PRICEY WITH CURRENT EXCHANGE RATE BUT LOTS TO SEE. Very good quqlity hotel.40 minutes walk to Cataleynia square and not very close to metro which we did not use. Taxis are very reasonable.there is no cocktail bar as advertised but a bottle of bubbly is produced each night to be shared with all newcomers.Twin bed rooms are excellent, but doubles with king sized beds are looking out at a brick wall. however all in all a very good hotel.

Amister Hotel is a lovely, clean, fresh modern hotel located about 10-15mins walk outside of the main centre of Barcelona. The walk wasn't a problem for us because it was lovely and quiet at night but there was no atmosphere in the hotel...no music in the lounge area....nowhere to buy a drink...no where to eat. We had to go out every night, which is fine but it's nice to hav the option of chilling out in your hotel. Purely on the basis of there being no bar or restaurant at night, I wouldn't go back

This hotel was cozy and wonderful. We stayed at this Hotel with a family of 4. Bed size is spacious and mattress quality was also good. Above all, very clean, including bath room. Staff was friendly and very helpful. To Sants station, there is a regular bus service, and we did not have any problem. (To underground station only 10 minutes walk).

A pleasant, intimate hotel, in the boutique style, featuring a limited number of rooms arranged on five or six quiet landings around an open central core. A warm and courteous welcome awaited us, even though our arrival time was close to midnight -a welcome which included helpful advice on our location relative to some of the must-see sights during our short two-day stay, with the aid of a complimentary street map which we adopted in preference to the various guide books we'd brought with us. Given the extensive nature of Barcelona, the Amister could be said to be fairly centrally located, being about ten minutes' walk east from Barcelona Sants railway station. It's away from the touristy areas, which can be a plus or a minus according to your point of view, and while the hotel is on a fairly busy avenue, traffic noise didn't present itself as a problem. Our room, on the third floor, was quiet, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfasts, buffet style and taken on the first floor, were good rather than remarkable. The weather during our stay in late October was uncharacteristically atrocious (as it was throughout most of southern Europe that week). Nevertheless, we were able to gain a good appreciation of most of the city on foot and with aid of a two-day ticket for the Open-top buses (though it must be said that the open top was hardly a benefit in those conditions, with most passengers packed in downstairs, trying to peer through the transfers on the windows). The persistent rain only served to accentuate the Amister as a welcome refuge; one to which I'd happily return - preferably in the Summer!

We stayed in a lovely triple room which in fact was a suite with two separate rooms with a dividing door, and TV in both bedrooms. The room was very spacious and comfortable and generally high-quality. The staff were extremely helpful at all times. The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the centre, but this means that it is quiet (in a residential area)and felt safe. We were aware from other reviews that breakfast was expensive (12 euros per person) so we had breakfast every morning in one of the local bars just around the corner - and paid 12-13 euros for all three of us. We are recommending the hotel to our friends.

Good hotel in Scandinavian style design. Not really great location for sightseeing of Barcelona. 25-30 min walks from Rambla Street. But in 5 mins from Sants Railway Station (but if you have a lot of baggage you should take a taxi anyway). Great breakfast just for 11 Euros.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It might not be right in the old town but it just a few underground stops away from it. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and sparkling clean. Bathroom very good, too, with a powerful shower. All that for 120 Euro per room! The staff was very helpful. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room (11 Euros) but well worth it, delicious fresh bread, cakes, tortilla, eggs, fruit, cheese, serrano ham, fresh orange juice. Only downside: bad coffee. Better nip to the next bar.

Clean rooms wiht modern desing, breakfast not included but nice places aroud were to have breafast. From bus station (Estaciò del nord) for people coming from Girona, just 10 minutes by taxi... one way must cost not more that 8€ (12€ in the night)!! Pay attention to not fair taxi drivers, ask for the price before starting. At the beginning an official taxi asked me for 30€ and later on I get in another one to the hotel with 12€!

Basically we enjoyed staying at this hotel. Bit far from any station but not too noisy at night. Our room is clean and big,a bath is one of the best facility for us. There was one thing we was dissapointed that the hotal charged one night fee two weeks before our stay. Atfer our complaiment, they withdrew their charge but still we lost small amount of money couse of exchange rate... This is the only negative point for us to this hotel.

Smart friendly hotel Helpful English-speaking staff. Clean quiet room. Our only criticism is that the width of the bath's shower screen was too mean and that we felt obliged to dry the wet floor after showering. The contortions necessary to minimise this showering problem were limited by a damaged shower hose which did not allow the passage of water at the reduced flow rate necessary to minimise floor wetting. Ci siamo trovati benissimo. The service was nothing but excellent! The breakfast was ok, well worth it's price. Unfortunately was the cleaniness not good, very visible on our toddler's black hands and knees after crawling on the floor. But the worst still- the toilet with rims of things one rather do want want to think about....extremely visible when in the bath tub. Also 10 min walk to the nearest subway. Next time in Barcelona we'll try something different

Great hotel for the price, more of a business hotel so it was quiet on the weekend. Front desk staff spoke great English, and they were helpful in giving directions and making food recommendations. It is a bit of a walk to the tourist areas (Gothic Quarter, etc), about 20 minutes. But returning to a clean and quiet hotel after a long day of site seeing in Barcelona makes the walk worth it!

This was our first contact with Sercotel hotel and our overall rating was good. The rooms make nice impression, and we really loved them. However, in autumn an air conditioning device didn't operate and remained switched to heating and it was quite impossible to leave the window open, since the room was located at the frontal wall of the building (noisy street). The distances to metro and downtown were relatively long, therefore it is a good idea to rent a bike for a weekend. To our supprise, we were offered to keep them in the hotel's garage during the night time. Thanks for that.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I stayed in 14 different hotels for our European vacation in the summer of 2006 (Aug – Sept) – so all our reviews will be comparing the hotels on the trip. European hotels are smaller and simpler than American hotels, so it doesn’t seem fair to compare them. For the most part, breakfast in a B&B is not worth it – especially if you have to pay a little more. We generally ate one morning at the included breakfast, and then skipped the other mornings – looking for a local place to enjoy breakfast. Also, all of our hotels had small bathrooms and very small showers – so be prepared with a good attitude and knowledge that you are there to see the sights – not soak in the tub! This was one of our best hotels. It was very nice, clean and welcoming. It is 4 blocks from the nearest Metro – but worth the short walk. We’d definitely stay again. The bathrooms were the largest and nicest on our trip.

We were quoted 107 euros but they were having a special for 75 a night and gave that to us without asking. Great staff! About a 15 minute walk to the center. There are also two different metro lines about 3 minutes from the hotel. Also the airport bus stops close by. No bar or pool but you can´t have everything!

This hotel is beautiful - very contemporary in decor. The photos did not do it justice. We thought the breakfast was pricey, till we tried it. It was well worth the cost - 9E+ & breakfast room was fabulous. The rooms are an exceptional value - I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Adriana & all the employees are very pleasant & helpful w/ very good English. The location was a little far from the points of interest in the city; about an 8 block walk to the metro, but easy to navigate from there. This hotel seems very good for business people with nice meeting rooms & a bar & lounge that was not in use during our stay. Our hotel / room was a relaxing, air-conditioned retreat from the very warm July weather. The only negative I would mention is the noise of other room doors carried through the hotel because of the arrangement of the floors with the center being open all the way up - 7 floors.

We stayed here prior to getting on our cruise. We had a 1 1/2 days to explore Barcelona. We found that it was about 15 minutes by foot to Las Ramblas and a little further to La Sagrada Familia. Although there is nothing interesting in the hotel area, it is quite well-located in terms of proximity to the main attraction centers (i.e. Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Espana); only 15 min walk or just 5€ by taxi. The room is not small and the bathroom is quite nice. There is not much of an entertainment inside the hotel, but room design is quite modern. Moreover, there are some Barcelona guides in the room – especially helpful for the ones to discover the city for the first time. However, noise can be an issue. All the room doors in all floors are looking to the same open space. And, if there is any noise in this open space (like someone closing its door), the volume is well-escalated due to the vacant space. It may disturb easily anyone that likes quietness. Also the hotel is located in a main street. The conclusion is if I can book for a price under 80€/night, I will definitely consider staying in the hotel (it is a good value for money). Otherwise, it is better to search for other options.

The hotel is very nice and cosy, very helpful and friendly staff. We were disappointed by the poor ventilation in the room. The window faced a busy street so opening it was not an option.
