Gran Hotel Barcino - Barcelona

The reception staff in this hotel is the worst I have ever come across. Rude unfriendly and unhelpful. the rooms are dark the beds squeek the telephone did not work but worst of all is the attitude of the surly reception staff.The only good thing about the hotel is the location but there are many other hotels in the area. I would never stay in this Hotel again !!!!!!

Lift out of order. TV set did not work.No response to my complain. No mini-bar drinks available al all in the room.

We had a problem with the air conditioner in our room: after several requests to the front desk, someone finally came up, looked at it and said there was nothing they could do. When we asked at the desk for another room, we were told they were full and the desk clerk actually said "I don't own the hotel, it's not my problem." I would not stay here again despite the good location.

Excellent stay for location in a medium-rating hotel. TV was out of order, the same for a bedroom light. If Hotel Barcino want to maximize the service given by the location on map it has to improve the quality of reception employees (they never smile ! may be 'cause we reserved on web ??????). For the first time in my life, more than this, the call me on the phone to tell us we've to go out to allow the cleaning !

I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff was rude and discourteous. The plumbing in the tub was pulled out away from the wall by about 6 inches. There were no bathroom amenities to speak of and I had the worst stay in a hotel in my 30 years of traveling to Europe. I think it is your responsibility to check out the hotels you post on your web site.

Excellent location. Staff were helpful when asked although limited English. However, certainly enough for what we needed. Would certainly stay there again.

The staff is not so kind and doesn't help with tourist information. The laundry in the room is not so clean (even if we suggest two times to change it!). The position is good.

Great place, please dont go with the earlier reviews........ May be they were at a time when the season was high and too many ppl.

We had a great stay, we were only there for 3 days but managed 6 jacuzzi's. The location is very good for las ramblas and access to metro's and the city itself is a joy even when it is a bit nippy in Feb'.

I enjoyed my stay at the Barcino. It is very close to Jaume 1 metro station so it is relatively easy to get to anywhere in Barcelona from the Hotel once you have worked out where the metro lines intersect. The Hotel itself is right in the Barri Gotic, close to the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, shops and bars of all descriptions and within easy walking distance of the Rambla. The restaurant isn't open in the evening but serves meals until 15:30 which isn't much help if you are out during the day.

Excellent location and friendly helpful staff.Best rooms on 6th floor with balconies,lower rooms to the front are quite noisy but adequate in terms of size.Bar facilities limited but staff always willing to provide service.

we had 2 rooms - 1 was spacious and relatively quiet but faced on to an interior courtyard with little natural light and air.It had sofas , jacuzzi bath and was good value, but for more than 2-3 days no natural light would have been a problem. The other room faced on to the street and was smaller and xtremely noisy. Our teenage children had 2 very bad nights. Bathrooms are nice. Room rates are reasonable, the location is great. Avoid breakfast as it is very expensive and can add about 60 euros per day for a family of 4. There is great cafe 20 yards down the road at a fifth of the price.

Overall it was an 3Star Hotel much rather than a 4Star Hotel. Service was not very immpressing and they even charged an extra amount per day for the use of the hotelsave! I would not recommend this hotel at all. The bathroom was shabby and in bad shape.
