The hotel is lovely but maintenance standards are not the best. Our first room had mildew and mold in the bathroom. The second one did also, but significantly less. Things also seem a bit broken. The bathroom door didn't shut properly, for example. But the staff were nice and we had a good overall experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and its location is excellent. However we were not happy that our 200 euros a night did not include breakfast or a room in the best part of the hotel. We were also very disappointed to arrive back at the hotel one night to find that half of the terrace bar had been booked by a private party and we were made to sit and wait inside for a table to become available outside. It seemed to us that the hotel was charging 5 star prices for 3 star service and facilities.

This is the fawlty towers of barcelona. We didn´t get oiur wake up call. The staff were unwelcoming disinterested and unhelpful. The curtains did´t keeo out the street light. Upon our return to our room at midday our room door was wide open without any hotel staff inside and not explanation or apology was offered. The internet was 16 euro a day while starbucks down the road offers it for the cost of a drink.

The hotel position is very good, the metro and some Gaudì houses (Casa Batlò and La Pedrera), are just a few meters away. In the area there are restaurants and clubs, not as cute as in the old town but still quite comfortable if you don't feel like going too far after a long day walking.

We stayed in the modern part of the Hotel Condes, which is across the road from the original building. It was very clean and modern, and the rooms were nice. Bathroom was also good. Have no complaints about this hotel other than that we decided not to book breakfast because it seemed a bit over-priced. We also liked the rooftop bar with the view of Gaudi's building. Very central location, perfect for visiting the main attractions.

We had a lovely couple of nights, the only reason we marked it down for public areas, services and facilities were because they were closed at the time of our visit (only temporary), but you could go to the sister hotel just across the road, which was excellent

On thing to know up front this hotel is split into two, each separated by a road. it would be useful to know which part you where staying in before unloading baggage. Good staff, great location in the main high end shopping area of Barcelona. Overall a nice hotel for a quick getaway. Views are lovely from the rooftop bar.

The hotel was in an excellent location. Confusion arose over which hotel building we were to stay at as there are 2 "Condes de Barcelona" hotels across from each other. One is called "Monoument" and refers to the older, perhaps more elaborate building. The other is the newer, modern building that houses the restaurant. Both are the same hotel, so when booking, you must ask for which building you prefer to stay in. I expected the "Monument" bldg. but our rooms were in the other building. Samll but nice pool and hot tub on roof; also a bar/cafe on rooftop. View of Sagrada Familia from roof. Many cafes and restaurants adjacent to hotel. Plaza de Cataluna and La Rambla a short walk down the street. We loved the location and felt very comfortable at the hotel. Helpful and courteous reception staff.

Rooms were comfortable, decked out in a contemporary style. Building work in the hotel meant some noise early morning. Breakfast was expensive. A good hotel though and we would use it again.

We stayed in each of the hotels for 3 nights on the same trip in the summer of 2007. We preferred the Monument Building, on the upper (north?) side of Carrer Mallorca. The style is modern but warm. The rooms in the other building , at least the one we stayed in, have a more "high tech" or minimalist style. One issue that needs to be resolved in the new building is water from the shower flooding the floor. You have to avoid getting water on the shower door because the shower floor is flush with the bathroom floor. It may look sleek, but it leaks. No problem for the floor, as it and the entry foyer are stone, but a pain for guest to sop up with towels.

The bedroom, the bath, the position, the terrace, all was perfect...but the staff in the reception was not kind and helpful.I don't know why,but they didn't use to greet us,and,in a night when it was raining, they don't want to call a taxi:under the rain! However the hotel was so nice, that it'ok!

Excellent service. Perfect location. Personnel very kind, especially Clara. Only problem that our revervation was cancelled because we hadn't called untill 16:00 and we arrived at 21:00. No problem, though, as the kind receptionist managed to provide us the room we had booked. I definetely recomend it.

Excellent location. Of the two rooms we had children's room was spacious, parent's room too small. Mini bar prices were far too expensive with some bottles half full, previously opened. Internet access was also additional and again expensive just to check emails. Bath shower was old fashioned, with shower fixed on the wall anyone over 180cm needs to kneel to wash hair and have shower. Not quite 4 star, is it?

With two Gaudi-designed buildings within a few blocks, I couldn't imagine a better location in all of Barcelona. My wife and I walked everywhere, and the interrior room, facing a quiet plaza, was a beter choice than a room overlooking the street. We would never awnt to stay anywhere else in Barcelona.

The hotel stands in a great position: in front of La Pedrera, very near to Casa Batllò, Fundaciò Tapies and Plaza de Catalunya, in the middle of an area of elegant shops.

We were surprised at how very nice the hotel was and it's room were contemporary in decor. I was traveling with my daughter and when we arrived they wanted us to have twin beds instead of the queen bed. The room would have cost $20E more. We stayed with our original reservation which were just fine. I just think they were trying to make more money.

Conde de barcelona is an excellent hotel, very centrally located with excellent amenities, very stylish with attractive architectural features and decor, comfortable, well modernized and with an easily accessed garage. Sraff is welcoming and accomodating. Of course it is expensive but in the heart of a European capital, you expect it. We'll go back there when in barcelona.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is close to many tourist attractions and on the route of the open top bus tours. There are many good restaurants close by.We ordered room service once and found the food very good..The staff was very friendly. The porters and receptionists were fluent in english but not the cleaning staff so be sure to learn a few spanish or catalan phrases which will come in handy for the rest of Barcelona

I very much enjoyed my stay at Condes de Barcelona. As a foreign tourist who speaks very little Spanish, I found that the hotel staff where very helpful and most spoke English. The hotel receptionist/concierge were quite helpful with directions, and places to go have a good time in Barcelona. However, I do think that it would be helpful if someone pointed out to tourists with a lack of Catalan knowledge (like myself) that the hotel name is actually spelt (Comtes de Barcelona) and that the hotel has two buildings.

When we arrived (at 1am) i had requested on the internet a double bed and we received 2 single beds. Not happy when we very tired and just wanted to crash. They then moved us to another room which was an internal one looking down the airshaft, however we got our double bed!!!!!! However the next morning I requestd another room with an outlook onto the street, as we were led to believe all rooms had on the internet. This was done with no hassles by the day girl on reception. She was very helpful. Once the room was sorted we had a lovely stay and the location of the hotel was great. The bed was very comfortable. Room service was also good.

I booked this hotel after looking at previous reviews. I was not disappointed. I asked for a room on an upper level with a balcony. The balcony was almost as large as our room and made the stay even more special. I don't think there's anything better than sitting at the table on your balcony which overlooks Barcelona, in the bathrobes and slippers provided, eating a lovely breakfast before another day of exploration in a beautiful laid back city.

fOR US WHO WERE ENCHANTED WITH SEEING GAUDI'S BUILDINGS, THIS WAS THE PERFECT PROPERTY. OUR 4TH FLOOR ROOM LOOKED DIAGONALLY OVER TO "LA PEDRERA". SINCE THE HOTEL IS HOUSED IN TWO BUILDINGS, AND IN AUGUST ONLY ONE OF THE BLDGS WAS OPEN, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GET A SUITE EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ADVERTISED ON THE WEBSITE. THE ROOM WE WERE GIVEN WAS TERRIFIC, HUGE BATHTUB WONDERFUL FLOOR-LENGTH WINDOWS SEPARATE DESK, GOOD SELECTION ON TV AND SPACIOUS.
