Excellent hotel. Beds were the best of anywhere we have stayed on this trip. Desk staff was extremely helpful. Good facilities and great location.

Hotel room was really small and spare - not even a throw rug. We knew that this hotel caters to gay people, and that was not a problem. However, the room was decorated with clearly gay photos - a little more than I was comfortable with. Nice balcony kept us from changing hotels. Staff was superb. Deck pool and spa - nice. Location near good restaurants and some sites were within walking distance. Cost expensive for such a small room.

I was here several times and would definitely come back. I like the neighbourhood in the Eixample with many bars and restaurants around the corner and of course the nice hotel design. Unfortunately the little sauna with direct access to the open air roof jacuzzi was closed due to winter time. I found this inappropriate because there is nothing better than fresh air after sauna! The wellness area in the basement is nice but not fully satisfying in this respect. Due to our very early check-out we had to use a taxi (called by the hotel) to the airport. I found 41€ far too much. I would recommend the hotel management to avoid this taxi company.

Services and amenities were first rate. Staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Have been in Barcelona a few times. Picked out this hotel for the location (walking distance of many venues, restaurants, etc.).

We stayed there for Valentine's weekend and it's a fantastic hotel in a great location. The room & facilties were excellent and the staff were very friendly, helpful & knowledgable. We're going to stay there again in July and I can't wait to use the sun terrace to catch some Barcelona sunshine.

This has to be the best hotel I have stayed at the caters to gay clientle. A 3 star that has 4 star services. The staff is excellent, friendly, helpful in everyway. The rooms are nice, bright and very comfortable...well furnished with pleasant decor. The lounge/restaurant is excellent as well. Extra services such as massage therapy are wonderful, as is the roof top spa with jacuzzi, steam, sauna, pool and terrace. The only thing that would have been a nice amenity would be a mini-bar in the room. I recomend this hotel to anyone (especially gay men) who want a quality lodging in a spectacular central location.

Within the walking distance of the Plaza Catalunia and the Barri Gothic, the hotel is conveniently situated. Front desk staff was efficient but not very friendly. The room I had was on 6th floor, spacious and quiet, if you don't have a noisy nextdoor neighbour which unfortunately was my case. On the whole, I had a pleasent stay.

I think any traveller will find the Hotel Axel an excellent location and good value for Barcelona. Rooms are quite clean and well appointed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the service is extraordinary. The breakfast buffet was an excellent value for 10 Euros if you can be awake before 11am. My friends and I will definitely go back to the hotel in the future. A four star experience. P.S. (New York City)

Excellent located hotel with very high standards and warm welcome. The staff is very professional, the rooms are the best you can expect for a city trip. Unfortunatey my stay was too short. I recommend you to stay at Axel hotel if you are looking for something different as usual city hotels

Have travelled widely and Axel is amongst the very best of hotels. It was immaculate, staff curteous and efficient and all amenities nearby. Will definitely be booking again!

This really is a top hotel for a reasonable price. It is right in the "gay" area of Barcelona and still within walking distance to the Ramblas and shopping areas around P. Catalunya. Highly recommendable.

No cupboard enough for two people. no basket for throwingout paper or other. beautiful bowindow! and balcony . beautiful terrace on the roof and jacuzzi!

The room was clean. The bath was attractive and a good size. The water was hot for the shower. The hallways and hotel interior were clean and attractive. I would stay at this hotel again.

Ideally situated within a 10 minutes walking distance from La Rambla, this jewel of a hotel offered small but stylish, clean, comfy and quiet rooms. Staff were very freindly and helpful, breakfast was excellent. We will definitely return on our next stay in Barcelona.

Perfect location, close to everything, friendly and competent staff and great drinks served in the bar (that is, if they happen to have the ingredient you need :))) Clean and spacious rooms with rather simple furnishings. Room doors are not soundproof which at times can be a problem. Breakfasts (be very explicit telling them what you want) not included in the price but they can be served in rooms! Generally, on the expensive side but to be recommended.

The hotel was excellent but you didn't mention that it is guy hotel ( didn't bother us )

I had no idea this was a gay hotel, but found it to be a great place and was happy with my choice

Excellent location, very clean place, but in my opinion - overpriced. The restaurant and a bar - very expensive in comparison with local ones. I will recommend it to my gay friends, but as a budget traveller, I will look for a less priced place.

This hotel was a real surprise. Well known to the local community, but a real find to the gay traveller. An old building very tastefully modernised. The Placa De Universitat Metro stop was ideal from the airport. Watch out for the rooftop terrace swimming pool - the water was freezing! We had a great time!
