A very charming small hotel. Traditional decor and feel. Had a room with a view of the river (which was very low unfortunately) and a little balcony for a supplement. Access to good pool at sister hotel Regina and good restaurant, breakfast and great staff service. Excellent value and great location.

We had a lovely 4 day relaxing stay in this cosy old world family hotel after a week of hectic sightseeing. For 20 euro extra we had a room with a balcony overlooking the river at the back for 2 nights which was magic. For the other nights we stayed in a room to the front which was nice but church bells opposite start to ring at 7am.This may not bother most people! Buffet breakfast was delicious with gorgeous homemade pastries and cakes, fruit, nice cheese and cold meat. Eating leisurely breakfast outdoors to the sound of the river was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy.Restaurant dinner very good too. There is a feeling that they take pride in the food and care that you enjoy it. The staff are really friendly and helpful with all sorts of advice (even on hairdressers!) This hotel is situated in a village 20 mins walk from centre of Bagni di Lucca tourist office etc but we preferred this. There is no a/c but it wasn't necessary.Overall we had a very pleasant stay and hope to return some day.

Beautiful place where the hotel is located, very quiet surroundings. Rooms and staff are excellent!! Two things could be better are: wi-fi internet (now is 2E per hour) and bigger parking place. Very pretty breakfast with a view for mountains and a river! Fresh and magic! Good price. I recommend for sure!

My Wife and I stayed for 6 nights Nov/Dec 2010 at the Corona, the owner was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day, Breakfast selection was good and the communal areas were more than adequate, the room was also quiet during the night and morning which is rare in Italian hotels! we were facing the river with a nice view of the opposite valley and spar town. I will definately return for business next year.

I would highly recommend this hotel, owned by Roberto, a very kind and helpful person. The price is more than reasonable, breakfast very tasty and surroundings... couldn't be more magnificent. My only suggestion would be to try and get a room at the back of the hotel, since the front rooms can be a bit noisy at night due to the sound of traffic on the road and church bell - not the fault of the hotel of course. We didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant and taste his cooking this time since we were visiting nearby Pisa, but I have no doubt that it would be a good choice as well. It's well worth the detour to visit Bagni di Lucca - hike up the mountain to the spa for a soak in the mineral waters and take in the unforgettable view!!

Stayed in Hotel Corona for 1 night with 2 adults and 3 children (aged between 8-14). They were able to give us adjoining rooms which was very helpful (though they did try hard to get us to upgrade to a 'river view' room to accomodate this!). The rooms were basic but clean and fit for purpose. Parking for about 6 cars on the footpath outside the hotel but also a large carpark a short way down the road which seemed to be fine to park in. Atmospheric clock tower across the road struck every 30 mins but thankfully not between 11 and 7am. Very nice breakfast area and enough variety of buffet food (cakes, croissants, cold meat, cereal, fruit etc) to get at least something into picky children. Got the best rate through venere.com - the hotel website rates were higher and didn't seem to include breakfast.

I do not consider this a 3 star hotel. We reserved a triple and the room was not set up for three people, even though we arrived late in the day. The room was very small - there was no room to walk after the third bed was added. The hotel was not full and perhaps they could have given us a larger room? The bathroom was cold and needed an overhaul. They did not help us with our bags. We were told by one person that use of the internet was free and by another that it was not free. The breakfast was good and in a nice room, overlooking the river, however, the waitress was sullen and not very accomodating.

Stayed in a room overlooking the river and the noise of the river was very peaceful during the night. Definately happy to have upgraded to the river rooms. Breakfast was great and in addition the the usual italian continental breakfast we were offered eggs as well made the way we like. the omlette that was made for us with the hotels local olive oil tasted amazing. The room was very clean and the hotel was easy to find from the directions given. Overall a great place to stay for a night.

The room was fine, with a superb view. The staff was friendly and helpful, the service prompt and timely. The restaurant has a fantastic view of the Lima Torrent, and charming Bagni di Lucca, and offers excellent Tuscan cuisine. Corona has a sister hotel a fifteen minute walk away with a pristine swimming pool. which one may enjoy. Can't wait to go back!

The Corona is situated picturesquely amongst the hills of northern Tuscany in a very nice little authentic town. The staff was very friendly, the food was great allthough the menu was limited and the rooms were ok. The pool at the sister hotel was wonderful. We would like to return as this part of the region offers slow living and authenticity unlike more touristy places. If you expect a party, don't stay in Bagni di Lucca. If you search for peacefulness and friendliness please do.

This small hotel offers very friendly and unique travel experience. Staff is very helpful, hospitable and low key, yet competent. The views from the dining area and full, fresh homestyle breakfast were a big plus. On the negative side there is a bit of noise from the street if room windows face the road, and the bell tower takes some getting used to, but adds local charm as well. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

Hotel Corona is probably not a place you'd pick just driving past. But you'd be making a mistake. As with so many small hotels in Europe, it's the staff that makes the difference, and Hotel Corona excels in this area. The staff that welcomes you at check-in (often owner Roberto himself), will be the same ones cooking and serving your simple, but wonderful dinner. The dining room and breakfast terrace have a lovely view over the river, and everything is in keeping with the whole ambience of Bagni di Lucca. This was, on balance, one of the most enjoyable stays of our 25-day trip. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel, good value for the money, very nice staff. Just a few comments: Visited in April, a bit early in the season - it was very cold in the room the first one or two nights (stone floors). Had dinner in the restaurant twice - one time perfect, the other time as if the cook had the night off and the substitute didn't really know what he/she was doing.

The service was warm, friendly, helpful and solicitous. This is a very good value for money: we were comfortable if not pampered, and the restaurant food was good. The river view was marred only by an ugly but no doubt unavoidable parftial view of a nearby construction site.

A lovely old hotel in an area of outstanding beauty. It is a little out of the way but worth the effort. The hotel's restaurant supplied fresh local produce and the breakfast, sitting on the terrace overlooking the fast flowing river below was a highlight of our trip to Italy. Not a lot to do locally but there are a couple of decent tratorria in the village and Lucca a large town is only 25 minutes drive.

Staying at the CORONA really made my holiday. I had a great room to the back overlooking the river and hills. I slept really well. I had half board and looked forward every day to dining on the terrace and relaxing with a glass of wine and excellent local food. The staff were friendly and attentive. I took advantage of the swimming pool at the Sister hotel Regina (a short drive away, 1km) to cool down at the end of the day. The pool is new and uses salted instead of chlor and has beautiful views from the loungers. Keep up the good work Roberto. I had no problem getting to all the main site seeing places in the area. It takes about 20 mins by car to get to LUCCA and onto the autostrada if you want to go further.

A very pleasant and convenient place to stay, perhaps a half step below the Regina which is under same ownership and located in Bagni di Lucca proper. Excellent host service, good rooms (with Sat TV) and good breakfast. Parking is easy either directly in front of the hotel or at a free public lot approximately 200m down the road. Would recommend and will visit again soon.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Corona immensely. Roberto, the owner, could not have been more helpful or accomodating. He went out of his way to help us with our search for a house in the area. Our room had a large terrace over looking the rushing waters of the river. The chef, Alessandro, cooked us two fantastic meals using all local ingredients ( truffles, chestnuts, spelt, porcini mushrooms, and to our surpise, deliciously fresh seafood--in the mountains! We found great fish and seafood all over Bagni di Lucca and learned that it is delivered from the coast every morning.) For the area it could certainly be considered haute cuisine and more elaborate than your typical regional fare. Very impressive and excellent value!!! For a 4 course meal we payed what 1 course would have cost in Florence. We will certainly be returning to the area and will look forward to eating here again.

Roberto, the manager, went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He even prepared a meal for us at an hour when the excellent hotel restaurant was closed so that we would be finished in time to watch a soccer game we wanted to see. My wife and I found our room clean, quiet, and comfortable. It was located in the back overlooking the river. While not luxuriuos, this hotel is certainly a very good value for the money and is in a excellent location for those wishing to see this less well known but interesting corner of Tuscany.

It is very nice location. But we thought it was closer to Luca and it tooks us about 45 minutes to reach there. In the map it appears to be near Luca and it is not so near. If you have enough time, the road is narrow, with nice views and the trip is worthy.

Roberto and his personnel aim to please and were attentive to our every need. Had a room in the rear away from the busy street. We slept peacefully to the sounds of the river below, it was very relaxing. Had dinner there and the food was very good although a bit more expensive then I expected. Hotel is close and convenient to the church and to the tourist office (housed in Europe's first casino). A great place to spend a weekend vacation.

This is a wonderful hotel. The owner and staff are most gracious and are very willing to speak English if needed. The breakfast on the terrace was, with scrambled eggs to die for, made the start of each day even more special. I dined in the restaurant and enjoyed it very much. Prices were reasonable and certainly worth every penny. I would return to the Corona again, and would also like to stay at the sister hotel. Thank you Roberto for your hospitality.

We agree with others about asking for a room at the back. The road at the front is very busy and very close to the hotel. The outlook at the back is also far more pleasant. We don't know about the availability of twin rooms, we asked for one but got a double, also the availability of hot water was a bit variable, it seemed to be hotter the earlier you got up! However breakfast was good, the staff helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

There are old and new rooms in the hotel. First we got an old room - you can forget; after reclamation we got a new room - this room was o.k., breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was very o.k.; we were disappointed from the village - very old, very small and no possibilities to do anything at the evening

We enjoyed our stay here enormously due to the wonderful service provided by Roberto, the owner. The food is terrific and very well priced, as is the wine list. Even though Roberto doesn't do lunches, when we arrived back rather hot and tired, he appeared with a huge tray of meats and cheeses and salads for us which was enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the river. Quirky plumbing but a great hotel!

Nice pople and the hotel has a certain faded charm. Some of the rooms are fully modernised with good bathrooms and nice views over the river, others are rather tatty. Public areas are spick and span downstairs, shabby upstairs. A paint job is badly needed, especially on the woodwork. Breakfast was lavish, possibly in compensation for being forced out of our original rooms by a power failure. The hotel has a restaurant that looks excellent, if a little pricy. Limited but adequate parking out front. With a bit of investment and attention, this could be a very nice place. Reasonable value as it is. Ask for a top-floor room and hope the electricity stays on!
