I really liked this hotel. Be aware that in the summer it can get very hot, and the rooms are not air-conditioned. However, there is a ceiling fan, and the air circulation around the hotel is good and keeps the corridors very cool.

Ive been with my family (two little boys) to spend the new years eve in Avignon and we stayed at the Le Magnan for 3 nights. The owner is very sympathetic and helpful, as wel the staff. But the experience were quite bad. There was no hot water (for 3 day we could hardly wash ourselves. Also didnt have hairdreir or any other facilities in the room. Well, definitelly, for the relationship price and quality, wouldnt go back there and would never recommend it!

A nice hotel, nicely furnished (which you do not expect when coming from outside), with friendly staff. I had a room with balcony overlooking the garden - I just think it is a pity that the chairs and tables in the garden are plastic ones!

Incompetent employees and non ethic behaviour of the manager. I sent a email asking specifically for a quite room for a 4 people (2 childrens). When we arrive the window of the room was in a cross of streets in a first floor (during all night was impossible to sleep due to the noises of cars). Also be careful: the rooms don't have air conditioning and the heat is suffocating. The sun is heating during all day this pseudohotel. I don't recommend for anybody this hotel. Avoid this cave. Don't believe the photos. The photos don't show the noises and the suffocating heat. The manager of this hotel don't know the sense of the word ETHIC.

This is a typical two star French hotel, rooms are small but everything is very clean. Breakfast more than adequate - situated just inside the old medieval city walls so very close to all tourist attractions - it took hardly any time to get to the Palace, the river, I went on a boat trip, Information office etc. They were helpful with maps etc. There's no lift & there are three floors - the garden in the middle of the hotel is lovely & quiet but I wouldn't want to be there when it's very hot.

The hotel iteself is lovely. WE received a fairly cool reception because the check in time was quoted as 12 noon, when in fact it was 2.30pm.We got to Avignon on a particualrly hot day and the rooms were hot at night. The town is very busy and dirty. I can;t say we enjoyed our stay and were pleased to leave. The Palias de Papes was very good.

Excellent staff. Hard to find parking near any of the gates of Avignon, but since I got there as the receptionist's shift ended, she gave us her great spot. The city was great. Don't bother with the Palais du Papes. BORING! Most of the items were missing & the recording still talked about them. The Pont D'Avignon was much nicer and interesting. Breakfast was excellent & plentiful & the central garden was beautiful. You cannot talk in the garden after 10, though. Silent hours.

It's a nice no-nonsense place to stay, great value for the money, my room was small but not a problem for a solo traveler. As a quick overnight rest stop it was fine, but I would also stay there if I was to linger in Avignon. The breakfast buffet in the garden was great and the best of my hotel stays in Europe this time.

Clean hotel not far from central train station. A very plain building in an unprepossessing part of town, but within easy walking distance of the center. Walking in the neighborhood late at night was not entirely pleasant. The hotel served the purpose, but for a stay of more than one night, a hotel with larger rooms would be preferable.

I stayed two nights at Le Magnan. The stay overall above good average, but incidentally there was a big tourist group from US and some of the group members kept chatting in the quiet courtyard so that another guest had to ask them to lower the voice.

Charming hotel with quiet garden, centrally located within city walls. Incredibly small and modest from the outside, but nice from the inside, rooms facing the walled garden. Small rooms, but nicely decorated in typical Provence colurs. Friendly and helpful staff. No luxury, but value for the money. No safe parking on the premises, but ask for the hotel's private garage some blocks away. ( It was not offered unless specifically asked for, and public parking on the nearby road was not attractive)

It was our first stay in hotel in France and we cannot compare the property with other hotels. We have stayed there with 2 young children and this hotel was one of very few who offer the room for 4 people. Our children enjoyed their room in mezanine. But I think that the final price was too high (price posted on the internet didn't include taxes and breakfast for 4 and final price was 30% higher then the posted one, 8 euro for breakfast/ person). The hotel itself is right by the city wall (which is convenient because the free parking is just a few steps away, but the area around hotel is not very pleasant, it's definetely outside touristic area, but not far from it and safe) I wouldn't stay there again. But I am not sure that others are better.

This is the only hotel (out of all my bookings with Venere) that the web rate is higher than the hotel rack rate because commission fees. I find this rather strange as I have to pay more than those walk-in guest.

L'aspetto esteriore lascia mo9lto a desiderare mentre l'interno e' grazioso e curato.

We stayed at Le Magnan July 10th 2005. We are a family of 4. My kids loved their bedroom in a mezzanine with spiral staircase. The room was newly furnished, very clean. Breakfast was outside in the courtyard, surrounded by trees. The front of the hotel does not look like much but it is nice inside and in the yard. Location is excellent: easy walking to Avignon tourist area and to train station parking. Our A/C was not working but we thought it was normal (based on our experience in Paris) so we slept with windows open: it was very noisy as this was during the Festival. The next morning reception said we should have called them; they were obviously right. I would not hesitate to go back.

The location was a bit startling - it was in the "not so nice" area of Avignon. If we hadn't decided to venture to the other side, we would have left thinking that Avignon was very average, dingy and a little bit scary. However, the actual hotel itself was very lovely, the big window (with sill big enough to sit on), overlooked the leafy courtyard, with a refreshing breeze flowing in. The staff were very nice and helpful and we were able to park our car for free - in a public parking area outside the wall. I would stay there again, now that I know where things are located, but I think that was nearly the only hotel located on that side of the Town.

Le Magnan is a fine hotel, but hard to find if you are walking. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff very courteous and helpful. I would recommend the Le Magnan to anyone visiting Avignon. The courtyard was almost like an extension to our room on the lower level. Quiet, peaceful, an excellent place to unwind from the day or to plan for tomorrow. What Le Magnan needs is to furnish better directions to the hotel so that one can find the place easier from the shuttle stop. Avignon is an old city with confusing traffic and street patterns and we had a tough time. Once we were there, everything was fine and we were treated very well.

Before I write anything, can I advise you to look at your survey design? You have more data fields on the right hand column than there are questions on the left. Le Magnan is a very happy find in the city of Avignon. The room we had was thoughtfully laid out, with large amount of storage/writing space for the size of the room. Although we could only stay one night, I would have been happy to remain a week or so. The room (no. 1) opened directly onto the courtyard where it would have been pleasant to sit reading and generally recharging the batteries. I find hotels who provide such pleasant common space become more comfortable and apartment like, than those which do not. Le Magnan's staff was terrific, overall. Very friendly and careful about details.

I was glad to find La Magnan - there are not many Hotels in France that can accomodate a family of four in one room. The room was very nice: bright colors, a closet, desk and even some floor space though the beds were close enough to roll over. The ensuite bathroom was also nice with a tiled shower enclosure - no water on the floor! Unlike some reviewers, I thought the hotel looked fine from the outside, and we loved the interior courtyard, a nicely planted gravel space surrounded by the two floors of open galleries. Wonderful breakfast (served in a charming room) that cost extra, but we thought well worth it. Three blocks from the train station just inside the city walls - great location. Some distance from the Palace des Papes area, but the walk thru Avignon's twisty medieval streets was wonderful.

A good hotel, well located. However, although the charge was as quoted this was some 10% over their published room rate. When queried they said this was the commission they had to pay to venere. But no other hotel we stayed in passed this on.

The hotel is located at the city wall and is a long walk from the Palais des Papes and main square. From the outside, the hotel looks a bit "iffy," so I insisted upon seeing the room first. The interior of the hotel is small, but clean and attractive. The rooms are located around a pleasant internal courtyard which is lush with trees and plants. Our room could have used a bit of sprucing up, but was clean. The bath was small with a shower. Our room could actually accommodate 4 persons on real beds and not fold-outs. Breakfast was good continental style with baguette and croissants. Very excellent english-speaking staff. Free public parking is available nearby outside the city walls if you can find a space, but it is not secure. I recommend this hotel, but not with enthusiasm due to the slightly shabby feeling of the room, the small bath, and the unattractive exterior.

Our room was sparse, but fine with one huge exception. The key at the top of the homepage said air conditioned--and it was, IF you were in the lobby. Our room had NO air and because we hit a heat wave, it was stifling. We had one window, which looked down at the courtyard, but no had air flow at all. I couldn't sleep and felt miserable with the heat, so talked to the manager who gave me a fan from their restaurant. The woman who was at the front desk when we arrived spoke perfect English and was also very helpful. We loved the location, just inside the city walls. We parked the car when we arrived and walked everywhere from there.

Bathroom window opened right onto busy traffic lights: very noisy. No airconditioning. Fan in room. Windows were opened for breeze. Mosquitoes very annoying! Sheets and thin bedcover barely covered bed without two people in it! Insufficient staff for 3 star hotel. Reception desk unmanned during day while rooms were being cleaned. Changed bedding thrown over balcony onto pile on ground floor near reception area! (Screened off later, until removed.) Reception Staff very friendly, helpful, efficient, and appeared to be hard-working. No complaints; but we did leave early & found far superior property for same money.
