This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Staff were great. Atmosphere was wonderful and the garden area under the tree was just the oasis for the hot days. Couldn't fault our stay here. We are a mature couple in our late 40's and early 50's.

This hotel is everything you could ask for. The rooms are lovely, ambience great! food, staff, are outstanding! Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Avignon. It is well located to walk to the nearby Palais de Papes, the famous bridge, and convenient for shopping. Made our stay perfect!

Old world luxury style, good room size, beautiful courtyard, and friendly, knowledgable and helpful staff contributed to an overall excellent hotel experience. Moderately expensive bar and restaurant (we did have a drink but didn't eat there). Room price seemed very reasonable for the quality. An inexpensive morning coffee was offered, to go. Would definitely recommend.

Really lovely, charming hotel. Exactly what you think of when you want a French, luxury hotel. Authentic, historic, grand yet comfortable. Modern where it counts - beds, bedding, service. Old fashioned where you want it - furniture, architecture, etc.

The people working at the hotel could not have been more welcoming and helpful. It is very difficult to drive in the walled part of Avignon, however, so it's a good thing the hotel suggests just leaving your car on the sidewalk and letting them park it. There is a charge for valet parking, but it is worth it. The hotel is just inside the city's walls, on the western entrance road by the river, so you do not need to drive far on tiny streets to reach the doorway. My only complaint is the cost of the breakfast at the hotel. We had just come from Hotel Lutetia in Paris, where our hotel provided free cooked breakfast (after joining their hotel group, which was free to do), so it seemed particularly onerous. We overcame this aggravation by going each morning to a tiny boulangerie across the side street, where bread, butter, coffee and juice was 4 Euros for two. The proprietor there even ran upstairs to his mother's kitchen to get us two types of jam to try with our bread. They had a little counter to sit at, so we could take our time with breakfast. We couldn't resist the sweet rolls they had as well. The hotel's courtyard bar area is a delightful place to sit in good weather. Service is excellent and everyone there is very helpful with directions to nearby sights, etc.

Excellent hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay again. The one problem was our room was very cold the first night with no heat, my husband and I both got very sick. Other than that, it was a lovely hotel with fantastic service and the staff was very hospitable.

Our visit was the first to Avignon and the first to Hotel D' Europe. We consider that our hotel stay was amongst the best we have in Europe and we are frequent European visitors. We congratulate the hotel and it's staff for providing and outstanding service. All staff were helpful and personable and we felt very much at home during our stay.

A total gem in Avignon. The location was perfect. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The seating in the lobby to read newspapers was a bit limited and rather dimly lit. The courtyard outside was lovely. I would recommend this hotel and return if ever in Avignon again.

The location of this hotel was superb. We could hardly believe that we drove through the ancient walls and our hotel was right there! What a beautiful setting! The front desk staff and porters did all they could to make us feel welcome and at home. Our room was a quiet oasis of beauty and charm, which was welcome after a busy day of sightseeing. Thank you so much, Hotel d'Europe for a very special time, one that will be remembered for years to come.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The price is, however, very high given the small room. The large TV couldn't fit properly so that one wardrobe couldn't be opened. For us, we would have been happier without the TV and to have more space. The sound insulation between rooms is not great so we could hear the plumbing for the next door room.

The hotel was a great location near the Papal Palace and many restaurants. Our room and bath were spacious and well appointed. The second night was noisy with a demonstration and loud techno music. The staff was very apolegetic and made an adjustment for this. The restaurant had an excellent dinner and the sommelier was knowledgeable. Breakfasts were good with an option of the ala carte menu. We would stay here again. It as a good value and great location.

To have your high expectations exceeded by the actual experience is rarely experienced but the Hotel d'Europe did just that. We visited this fine hotel to celebrate our anniversary and everything was exceptional. The setting and location were perfect, the staff was professional, courteous, and very accomodating, the rooms were spacious and lovely, and the entire stay was more than we hoped for. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived until the sad moment we checked out. All of this makes for an easy recommendation.

What a lovely hotel. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. They suggested great restaurants for us to try and booked them for us because our French was so poor. We used the valet parking as we had a hire car and no clue where to park. This worked well and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for our car. The rooms were most spacious and full of character. Loved our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. Our room overlooked the courtyard - just gorgeous. Didnt eat at the hotel - quite pricey so cannot comment on the food.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Hotel d'Europe. It was a splurge for us, but definitely did not disappoint. The quiet elegance and friendly, helpful personnel made our stay one of the highlights of our trip. We had a wonderful time exploring nearby sites and villages: the Sunday market at Isle sur la Sorque, les Baux, St. Remy, Chateauneuf du Pape. Located within the walls of Avignon, it is within easy walking distance to some great restaurants, helpfully recommended by the staff. The Hotel d'Europe was the perfect home base for us.

We loved this hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. I was traveling with my mom so the only problem was I has asked for two beds and they were unable to accomodate this request. But...the bed was large enough that we were fine. The staff was extremely knowlegable and very willing to help us. They set up a day tour for us with a great driver that really knew about the area. Overall - I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is wonderful, central place to stay in Avignon - without the noise of being overtop of a restarant or nightclub. it is an easy walk around the whole town, sites and restaurants. the hotel was helpful in suggesting good restaurants, storing our luggage and making our stay very pleasant - in English. we are sorry that we did not have an opportunity to use the bar or restaurant at the hotel - both looked very good.

The hotel is an amazing experience, elegant, refined, beautiful. The staff are all eager to please and very friendly. Rooms are clean and equiped reasonably, and fairly large. Location is great. The ambiance here is wonderful. Truly a great boutique hotel. This hotel is small, and its facilities are limited. The most notable of these is dining - while room service is available, it is extremely limited. Dining in the evening is available, though hours are limited. Breakfast is good. Fortunately the hotel is located directly across the street from a great square with many excellent dining choices.

Front desk offers great suggestions for restaurants, great area to shop and friendly service, take a drive to the many villages surrounding the area, hotel had friendly service though for the price I think breakfast should of been included, and in the room a coffee machine should be provided. We had room 101, no view but the size of the room was more than sufficient and the bathroom newly renovated and modern. We would definitely go back again!

This is a wonderful hotel. Everything about it was just perfect - the building itself, the rooms, the location - but especially the staff who went out of their way to be helpful. We felt cosseted. (And just round the corner in the rue Joseph Vernet is a wonderful restaurant called the 5 Sens - we had one of the best meals ever.) I would thoroughly recommend the Hotel d'Europe.
