The hotel is extremely well located, but right off the main plaza it was noisy on Saturday & street cleaning nights - if you sleep with windows closed it's not as bad. The staff is very pleasant and helpful.

The street or rather alley where hotel is located is poorly light at night and unpleasant. Noise during the night disturbed our sleep a few times. At the same time it is right in the center of town and very convenient. The lack of 2 stars hotels in this location makes the hotel good value for the money. We stayed in France for 3 weeks, all of them in 2 stars hotels, and our stay in the hotel was not as good as expected or portrayed on the internet site.

First the positives: it is located just a couple of minutes from Place de L'Horlage, very clean, bed comfortable, modernized bathroom, small refrigerator. Negatives: we had room #5 which had a loft portion. Under this loft there were no light fixtures & only 2 small bedside lights plus a up lighting sconce in the rest of the room. It was dark & dreary. The bathroom may have been modernized but it was badly designed. The sink & tub were abnormally high off the floor. The tub was very small & would not accommodate anyone of much girth. There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom so hair drying had to be done under the loft with no light & with the plug on the wall opposite the mirror - not very convenient! We were provided with only 2 thin towels & a bathmat. The street noise with the windows closed was sufficient to awaken us several times in the night. The price was not worth it for this so called twin grand room.

This is an excellent value. It is located right off the main square in the middle of restaurants and shopping but on a quiet side street. It is an old building with about 15 foot ceilings in the rooms; they have quarried stone walls. It looks like a room in a castle might. Bathroom is very modern; bed is comfortable.

Great location for the restaurants and sites of interest; the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a lot of character (slightly faded) but is down a run-down alley. Room #17 was a little cramped for two (would have been better if stairs in room led to armchairs for sitting rather than another bed) but managed ok for one night. Bathroom was updated and nice and clean - Did not find any bed-bugs but they do seem to occur in lots of Avignon hotels. Would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities. There was lots of noise on a Saturday from rowdies leaving main square.

The hotel is in an old building in a side-street which at the weekend seems to be a favourite route for homegoing party animals! The availabilty of hot water on the top floor may also be an issue. However, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners more than made up for these shortcomings.

+ Great location, price: 43€ pppn was very reasonable, helpful staff, clean rooms, internet access & WIFI, discount on parking cost, quiet surroundings in late Sep, light filled atrium. - No lift (but only 2 floors), old bathrooms (shower hose was attached to bath - hose not long enough to stand), additional cost if you take breakfast, parking 5 minutes walk away. NB. we came by car so stop outside hotel - drop off bags & then get directions to public car park.

The hotel is right in the middle of where you want to be, so that's great. However, the street is a back alley that's a bit on the dirty side of things. No air conditioning, but a fan was provided. The room was very spacious, with a high ceiling. I general, I found the hotel to be confortable. I'd go back.

I have seen some comments saying that this hotel is difficult to find, yet is a rather simple way to get to this hotel. We came from the airport and took the bus to the stop just outside the centre-ville. Once at this stop, walk up the Rue de la Republique (or take a bus) until you arrive at the other end and then to your right will be a few small streets which lead you directly to the the street at which the Hotel de Blauvac is located. Simple and easy. In other words, the Hotel de Blauvac is located one street to the east from the Rue de la Republique. The woman that runs the hotel is wonderful and very helpful. Though we speak French and had no trouble communicating with her, she also speaks fluent English. This hotel had lots of charm and there were nice little lobbies on each floor. The rooms were nice and clean, but small. One small complaint is that the TV reception was not the best as I tried to watch the 2008 EUFA matches that were taking place at the time. There was no air conditioning, and it was very hot while we were staying there. Additional noise/celebration from outside the hotel made it difficult to sleep as well. The location, however, is perfect. It is right in the center of Avignon (which is small to begin with), and shopping, tourist sites, and restaurants are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

The hotel is in a historical building. In our room there were two floors, ancient stone walls and a fireplace. For people who like typical and a little bit "decadent" ancient solution is great! If I come back to Avignone I will return there!

Beautiful room in an old building, if only a bit dark. The heating worked perfectly - the room was comfortably warm. The bath was not the best (drain was blocked, so it took some time for the water to go down, and there was no curtain), but could be used all the same.

The hotel is really fascinating and pretty close to the central Place de L'horologe. The only complainings are about the bathroom, which was not that good and the fact that there is no elevator, so we had to carry all our luggages to the 2nd floor. The hotel has an agreement with a Parking so we paid really few money.

EXCELLENT VALUE-VERY CLEAN, STAFF FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. LITERALLY 60 SECOND WALK FROM TOWN SQUAURE CENTER WITH ITS OPEN SIDEWALK CAFES AND ELAN-WONDERFUL SHOPPING. This is a great, if basic, hotel. you couldn't be more central than this as it's just off the main square. staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There was a tiny civic tax to pay on top of the bill, something like 1.5 euro per person, but nothing to sweat about. though this isn't mentioned in the venere prices. rooms clean, tidy, relatively quiet, and spacious. the toilet cistern was a touch unpredictable and needed a bit of attention but again, it's a minor thing. i'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel is perfectly positioned for a stay in Avignon, a minute walk from the main square. It is, however, in an unpromising back street but once we were inside we liked more or less everything about the hotel. In particular the two people operating reception/breakfast were friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast both days in the hotel. The food we had was very good but there was little choice. We noticed some other guests had brought other food, youghurt, to add to it. Our children (9 and 7) loved the spilt level bedroom. The small road outside was cleaned in the middle of both nights so was a bit noisy. We recently stayed in a 4 star hotel in Venice and in many ways we thought this better, but this is because we value the mood of the hotel more than extra facilities. In short, we liked it.

A wonderful hotel in an old building full of character. The room was very spacious and well laid out and the bathroom was of a high standard. Location is extremely central and convenient. I know some previous reviewers have commented on noise levels, but personally I did not find this to be a problem. The narrow street does not have a lot of traffic and the odd noise from street sweepers or refuse collectors, albeit early in the morning, is brief and hardly excessive for such a central location. Staff were friendly. Very good value indeed.

The interior decor of this hotel is lovely. The staff is very welcoming and fluent in English. The only drawback is that the walls between rooms are thin and not sound-proof, where you can hear people talking next to your rooms. However, in overall the hotel is great and value for money.

I couldn't find it at first, but easy to see when asked local store. it's a lovely half-castle style hotel. This was NOT what we were expecting. We got the worst room possible and it gave me the creeps. I wanted to leave as soon as we got there. But we were tired and would lose our money if we had of left and we didn't want to insult the owners as they were so lovely. It was so old and run down that you couldn't tell if it was dirty or not which wasn't a good thing. The carpet, bedding etc was all old. The bathroom was not nice (gross actually with old carpet on the floor). I wore shoes in the room! We were expecting something a bit more as we booked the bourgoise suite for an extra 10 euros and the room wasn't very big so I wonder what the cheaper rooms were like. The breakfast was ok though and the hosts were kind to us. We wouldn't stay again.

As a family of 4 (including a 6yr old and 1yr old)we were very well received. Occasional noisy moments from the children were politely ignored.Good clean rooms - basic but functional. Although I speak french, the staff were fully able to help with words that I had forgotten, and I often heard examples of their excellent English. A difficult location to find if you are not familiar with Avignon. The nearest car park for leaving the car overnight is called 'Les Halles', a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Excellent location for many restaurants and within 5 mins walk from Le Palais de Papes. Would definately stay there again. Only noise was from binmen at 7am..unavoidable!

Terrific location in Avignon. A little tricky to get to but the rooms are large and the help is very nice. Skip their breakfast and eat on the campo. Don't bring a car. The Vietnamese restaurants nearby are very good if you want a change from French cuisine. See the palace at night, stunning. The hotel is noisy at night because they clean the streets and pick up the garbage and the streets are very narrow but this will be a problem most places.

When I was going alone the narrow lane and looking for the hotel, honestly, I did worry the quality of the hotel. Surprisingly, the hotel was my favorite place to stay during my Provence trip. The hotel staff was nice and professional to say hello to me and indicate who I was directly without my introduction. Then, their public space on each floor was so lovely with the atmosphere of Provence decoration. Moreover, I was so satisfied by my single bed room. The room was spacious for me and the interior was classic and elegant. However, I do recommend the hotel to budget travellers.

We enjoyed our three-day stay in the hotel. We had a very small room which had had a mezzanine level put in, with an extra bed. We were not pleased with the De Blauvac. We stayed in the room in the photo. It is on the first floor on the street. The noise in the early mornings was tremendous and non-stop. The breadtruck, the streetsweeper, the garbage collector, all between 5 and 6:30 a.m. When we asked for a different room, we were told all rooms face the street and to keep our windows closed. The room itself is incredibly dreary. No dresser, no nightstands, a truly tiny closet. The bathroom is large but hideous. One of the sinks did not work, there was no shower curtain nor was there a post to hang the showerhead on. Breakfast was not included. We bought it once but since it was only coffee and croissants, we opted to eat out the rest of time. The location is good but we would not stay here again.

We spent three nights here the first of October, while traveling through France with another couple. While the price was attractive, I had requested their superior rooms which were not available and accepted a standard double--the room was incredibly small with no room to move or stow luggage and quite dark--our saving grace was the patio table area outside our room where we could converse and pour a needed glass of wine. I realize this is only a 2* hotel, but think I would buck up and spend additional money than to spend three nights here

Owner and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Decorated with lots of charm. A "petite" room is petite. This particular room faced on a very narrow side street where sunlight did not come in but a night time street light did. I think some of the other rooms were more favorably situated.

I enjoyed my stay. The location was excellent. I knew the room was upstairs and the building of course had no elevator, but I did find the number of steps difficult especially the extremely narrow circular staircase - 14 steps like a corkscrew -leading up to the bedroom after I had reached the bedroom door. This would be a difficult hotel for a guest with mobility problems or a lot of luggage, but if you are prepared for it, no problem. The reception was warm, the manager very helpful and charming, the condition of the room good, and I did enjoy it.

The hotel was very hard to find we found this repeated in many towns in France I think Venere need to improve there maps of location of hotels and make them more accurate. This hotel was clean and the staff were very welcoming and suggested some things to do in the city. The downside was the room we had was next to a busy alley with people going past all night having come from local bars hence a lot of noise. Recommended but choose the right room.

Do not attempt to find this hotel without a detailed map. We eventually gave up, parked the car, and started walking around until we found it. A very charming hotel -- with a lot of potential -- but the photos of the rooms did not reflect the room we were given. Although it was one of the rooms shown on the internet, in actuality it was quite dark and dreary and I don't think the top cover of the bed had ever seen the inside of a washing machine. Also, no air conditioning, no hair dryers. I wouldn't recommend their breakfast -- overpriced for what is available.

A character hotel in the heart of Avignon. The family room was large and spacious - with the 2 children on a mezzanine level. It was extremely hot and the room had a single fan which the children grabbed, as the upper level was even hotter than down below. We arrived on Saturday when the central part of town is closed to vehicles. After a few attempts of poor french, we were allowed to pass a blockade to reach the hotel, driving through street artists. The hotel is on a narrow one-way street, wide enough for one car. We block the street to unload (we had an Espace full of luggage). We had 14 hours of travelling from early the next morning, with a flight from Nice to Dubai. Getting plenty of sleep was important, so we were all in bed by 10 after much sightseeing. The kids liked the train. The room was so hot, but we could not leave open the huge windows due to the noisy revellers below. It must die down soon we thought - but not a bit... Everyone thinks they can sing after a few glasses of wine. It was 5AM before the last noisy revellers walked below the bedroom window - singing. At last! We were able to leave the window open for some cool air. The bin-men came about 06:30 (on a Sunday!) and we got up to face our long journey.

The hotel is close to the Pope´s Palace, but difficult to find, if you haven´t a really accurate map. A hint: The "Rue Bancasse" is a parralel street to one of the main streets inside the city walls, the "Rue de la Republique". The "Rue Bancasse" is narrow, so it is not possible, to stop to unload the luggage without blocking the whole traffic, unless there is not much traffic anyway. The next parking garage is about five minutes by foot and easy to reach. We were advised to leave the car there, because of possible thefts; the garage was 9 Euro for 24 hours. The hotel has no elevator. If you ever go to Villeneuve les Avignon on the other side of the Rhone, take the bus number ten or eleven, wich starts outside the city walls close to the main station, but make sure that there is a bus back, because they do not drive that often. The taxi back is about 16 Euro. I recommend the Hotel because everything is close and it is not expensive, we paid about 70 Euro for a double room, breakfast is not included.

The hotel was very beautiful and has a very unique cachet. Unfortunately, it stops there. The employees are very cold and very inadequate ata managing guests in an hotel: we have two young children and one night (around midnight) they started crying. Just after 2 minutes, we got a knock on the door from the manager saying to quiet the children. I would have understand if the kids would have been crying for a long time but after only 5 minutes, this is totally unacceptable!!! Anyway, I explained to the manager that we were taking care onf the situation but (unfortunately) kids dont have "mute" button. Her only answer was that it got to stop right away! I mean come on! Please hire people that understand children or mention that this hotel is not suited for children. This event messed our whole stay in Avignon. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone (especially if you have kids)

This hotel adorable and the employees were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms can be a little noisy when the hotel is full, but this isn't surprising in such an old building. The ambience and location more than made up for it.

We were four of us in a room with loft, fredge, table with four chairs and still enough space in the room for all of us. The bathroom was big. It could be better if the drain were cleaner so that water could flow better but other than that we are very happy with the place. The location is excellent, right in the middle of the town, walking distance from the train station.

This is a charming hotel. The rooms were great, with a double bed and a single bed in a loft upstairs. Full of character and charm! Very clean, and the public sitting areas were really cute. In a great location, too. I would definitely stay there again; it was great value for money.

A charming hotel which offered good, clean accomodation with friendly and helpful staff in a great location for seeing the sights in Avignon. Our room was enormous with curtains surely 5 metres long ! We will return.

Coffee at breakfast was very bad for a french hotel. Staff was nice on the weekend and all spoke English very well. Staff on Monday, however, did not have the same level of service. Our room in the front of the hotel was very large and pleasant.

We requested a triple room and were given a room which had a loft in it. It was perfect! The staff was pleasant and very helpful when we needed directions and to fax an important letter. Wonderful location. We would definitely stay at the De Blauvac again.

Nice hotel with an excellent location a few steps away from the main square of the city. The rooms are fun but quite small and our room was a bit cold. The staff was friendly.

Beautiful building and great location. Our room was very nice, but my daughters had a very small room that was quite dark. I really enjoyed the way they had converted this old building to modern use- skylights over what had been an interior courtyard- and found the hotel really lovely.

This hotel was the best hotel we stayed in the whole time we were in France! Very quaint, plenty of room in the room itself (there was a nice loft upstairs). A little hard to find from the main street, but that is to be expected in older sections of town. I could not believe the superb quality for the price and right downtown too! If I ever have a chance to visit again, I will stay here.
