Hotel Hostellerie De La Poste - Avallon

I found the staff at the Hostellerie de la Poste to be extremely welcoming, helpful, and efficient. The hotel is as charming as the web site promised. I especially appreciated the preservation of the historic architectural details and the period decor. I stayed in one of the Napoleon rooms and the experienced was enhanced by reading the history of the hotel which is provided in every room. I was especially pleased with my dinner in the hotel restaurant. The service and food met all my expectations of fine dining in France. The location of the hotel is ideal for walking around Avallon. The promenade around the ramparts with its spectacular views, the costume museum (with the largest collection in France), the Romanesque church and the interesting shops made for an ideal vacation day.

The welcome /reception was very positive but he food was of a poor standard and the wine list over-priced. Down the street it was possible to find better value to eat . The rooms were good and large with good sized bathroom which was well-equiped. There is no real public area no bar nowhere where one can sit.

Friendly and excellent quality rooms. Had a little difficulty checking in late but did not spoil the experience. The rooms at the front are super and the car park at the rear is large and makes it easy to uunload and park. Would stay again en route to the South.

It was a pleasure to stay in such a historic place (hotel and town). We will definitely book again if returning to Avallon.

Great hotel in the heart of Avallon, which is a lovely, historic town, not that far from Paris. Very posh accomodations in an old building. Don't be put off by the crooked stairs on your way up; they've done a really nice job restoring the rooms. Excellent restaurant.
