Absolutely okay for the price we paid. Most of the staff (especially the owner) were really nice and very helpful. I liked the hotel and would stay there again.

Let me preface this by saying that I usually tend to inflate review scores (I can't help it, I get enthusiastic). So if I give something a low score, it really deserves it. The first night, our room was dirty (greasy floors, somebody's shaving stubble all over the shower walls), cramped and extremely noisy, being on the street (I had requested away from the street, albeit only a few days before my arrival). We requested a room change, and the next night, we had a much larger room that seemed to be much cleaner, and we were away from the road, so it was a little quieter, but still pretty darn loud. The breakfast is really good and filling. It feels and looks like a hostel. If you are spending the extra money to get a private bathroom, go somewhere else. There are much nicer places for another few euros a night. If money is really a problem and you are going for the shared bathroom, it's probably a pretty good deal. The shower in the first room was THE WORST SHOWER IN THE WORLD. I had read the other reviews and thought conceitedly, "Those people must be stupid...or else they're whiners. I'm sure it won't be a problem." But in fact, the shower appears to have been DESIGNED to direct any water on the walls or curtain to flow onto the floor. Mind boggling. It was the same in both rooms, but at least in the second one, the bathroom was much bigger, so it mattered less that the water got all over. Also, you have to hold the shower handle (par for the course in Europe) and it ran out of hot water. Also, I never got any hot water to come out of the sink. Yes, I tried running both taps for a long time. Neither of them ever gave me even lukewarm water. Yes, the neighborhood was safe, but pretty ugly. Not cute at all. But I don't know that you can get cute for around 40 euros a night. Summary: kind of a dump, good breakfast, at least it's cheap, but you could do much better elsewhere for not much more.

Breakfast was good and the hotel is good value for money. The location is very convenient for the sights and you feel safer in the vicinity in the evening than in nearby Omonia Square where most of the other hotels we were considering were located. I was a bit disappointed with the room; the floor was grimy and the furniture a bit shabby. However, we will definitely stay there again if we need a reasonable hotel in Athens, and indeed did so on two later occasions.

Excellent value for money! Room was very clean. Shared facilities were also very clean even at odd hours, like 3am. Not recommended for people who dislike earplugs. The area is very noisy and generally speaking, when traveling to Athens, earplugs should be standard equipment in your traveling kit (unless you are willing to spend some very uncomfortable nights). One piece of warning about the safe-box facility: "Safe-box" facility is not really a safe-box and although it seems and feels safe, you should inform the receptionist if you are going to need your valuables in early hours or very late in the night. Essentially the "safe-box" is the manager's office and it is open only during normal working hours. If you need access to the "safe-box" outside office hours, your valuables are staying with the receptionist. I didn't know that small detail and I almost missed my flight!! This hotel does not have an elevator and assuming you are not carrying over-sized and over-weight luggage, it shouldn't be a problem for average fitness people.

Website was true to hotel and location. The atmosphere, staff and food were great - European Continental Breakfast very healthy. Ability to communicate with staff in English fairly easy (I speak Italian also so it helped) and the location was very convenient, in between two metro stops. I highly recommend Hotel Neos Olympus for hostel through professional, and found the rate very reasonable for accommodations including breakfast. Plus, I felt very welcome as Georgia (owner) was very kind and concerned with my happiness. Moreover, I felt safe and my room was excellent (single with bath).

Georgina went to great lengths to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere of the Hotel Neos is quaint, with a marble spiral staircase and carefully cared for common spaces. A real diamond-in-the-rough in this area of town, which is outside of Plaka. The shared bathroom was also good, with an interesting shower. The only downfall for older travellers with lots of luggage, there is no elevator.

Neos Olympos is without doubt the best value for money hotel of its calibre in Athens. It is bright, clean and spacious and absolute excellent value for money. The woman that owns the place is incredibly friendly and wants nothing more than for all her guests to enjoy their stay. Silly people who have left negative comments on here are completely ignorant and should book and pay for a 5 star hotel and leave the rest of us to enjoy a premium quality service for less than £30 a night. AMAZING PRICE! Well done Hotel Neos Olympos, I will be back!

Hotel Olympus is located in a convenient but rather unattractive area of central Athens. The hotel itself is quite well appointed although in an older building. There is no elevator- we had a 4th floor room. Breakfast and communal internet access seems to be included in the price. I thought it was considerably better than the reviews indicated.

I recommend. For 26euros per nigt that was a bargain. The surrounding does not feel safe in the night time, but the hotel itself was OK and at least that room in the inner side 3rd floor was wery quiet and cosy. Probably the rooms towards the busy street are not so quiet.

Most of the people at breakfast were young but we werent there long enough to meet anyone. My room had a sink and an outside bathroom the hall shared. The air conditioner turned on but didnt work. The night staff was quiet but the morning staff was very informational. The hotel was a very nice old building that was close to the subway and about a 12 min subway ride to the Acropolis. A good tip: We got the 24hr bus, subway and tram ticket for 3 euro a day!

This lovely hotel has very nice decor in the corridors and the entrance. The employees are exceptionally helpful as they helped me a lot on my first two days of visit in Athens. The room was a little bit disappointing as it was a bit dirty and dim. There were not much facilities in the room but should be enough for a short stay. And the hotel's accessibility enables tourists to roam the city via metro. For single ladies arriving late at night, do pay extra attention to the taxi drivers outside the metro station. It may be a bit difficult to find the location of the hotel at night and the taxi drivers may offer help, but in a sceptical way. The free internet service is a grreat bonus.

I only spent one night in Athens, alone, and had to wake up early in the morning so I did not need anything special. However, if you wish to have a pleasant stay, please note: (1) The hotel itself is nice but is located in a run-down area. If it is important for you to stay in an area where you feel secure (especially if you are a girl/woman traveling on your own), choose a hotel in a different area. (2) There is no elevator and the stairs are pretty steep. If you are traveling with heavy luggage, this place is not a good choice. (3) If you hope to sleep during the night, make sure you have earplugs. I am sure it depends on the customers but somebody sang in the next room until 4 a.m. (4) Note that breakfast is not included and that there is no Internet in the rooms, you have to go to the top floor (I personally haven't tried it). Conclusion: if you are a young male or a young couple traveling on a budget and with good earplugs, you may consider choosing this hotel.

Neat Place. 10/10 for value for money. Have no difference in price quoted on the net and the price I finally paid. Great location, as the metro is about 200Mts. Have decent eating joints around. Surely u cannot have any complaints. Yes, pl remember that you have no elevator. So people with heavy luggage might have a problem. But this sort of a small place does have its charm and warmth of its own. I would surely like to stay here next time!

We were very happy about the relationship between location of the hotel and price which was very friendly in the low season. Visited late Nov which is low peak, hence price is exceptionally affordable. The hotel location is in between two metro stations, about a 4 minute walk from either. Hotel and rooms has been very nicely decorated, and hotel staff very friendly, especially Karzan. The little inconvenience which was not a problem for me, is that the shower head was not mounted on the wall, and for rooms facing the main road, it may prove noisy for light-sleepers. I however, utterly enjoyed my stay.

We stayed at Hotel Neos for 2 nights. The location was great for us - really close to the train and metro station, so you can easily get to the attractions. You have to treck up some quite steep stairs to get to the rooms(a bit of a work out with your pack on!) as there is no elevator, so I wouldn't recommend the place if you have a disability that would make this tricky. The shower spewed water all over the bathroom, but otherwise it was great value for money and the free internet was a plus.

I only stayed one night, but had I known about this hotel, I would have stayed their the prior week. My room faced the street so I know there would be some noise, but since I wear earplugs when I sleep, I didn't hear a thing. Internet service and three computers were available included in the price and that was a big help. The location is excellent being close to Metro and National Train station, near the Archaeological Museum...easy to get anywhere. Supermarket down the street! I used the very large shared bathroom with all three areas private. I was traveling alone and found it safe. I had to leave super early so I cannot comment on the buffet breakfast but it sounded great and the place where it is served was large and cleaned (next to main entrance). The hotel is nicely decorated and looks very nice. I stayed first week in May and the price was incredible. My room had two twins, large closet, TV, AC and a sink, mirror, shelf, just a great place for those of us who love sightseeing and want a clean comfortable place to relax. The other guests whom I met, were older couples and young people. I don't mind the lack of an elevator. Very pleased, Lenore

It is a good bargain for the price your paying. Our room was clean but was not done during our stay (3 nights). You will not be in the fanciest neighborhood of the city but it looked safe to us. The hotel is close to the subway, you can reach Syntagma within 15 min walking. The only negative aspect is that the hotel is on a noisy street so you night need ear plugs.

The night employee was very rude and impolite. He refused to call us a taxi to go to the airport. The first room that we got (on the 4th floor) was very dirty (even the blankets on the bed) and noisy. The second room that we got (at the second floor) was ok for the price. However, I do not recommend you this hotel. You better pay a bit more and be in a better place.

Most important point for me : room/bathroom were clean. Drawback: it's quite noisy. The windows are old so it's not filtering any noise from the main road in front of the hotel. Staff was friendly. Hotel is 200 from Larisa metro station, so you're 3-4 stops from the main tourist areas. So overall price/quality was good.

The hotel was well loccated, near the Larissa Station, however the surrounds are a bit dangerous to walk after 1100pm. The rooms are small and the bed was terrible. There are too much noise in the room specially between 1000pm and 0200am, it may be difficult to sleep. If you are traveling in two or more, I would recommend to get a better hotel near Plaka with 20 or 30$ more. If you are traveling alone, this hotel is the best price/quality you can find for 30 euros per day.
