Very good hotel for the price. Clean, room big enough, excellent location to visit Athens by foot or metro. Just near all interesting points. Less good is the noise coming from the other rooms (doors mostly) . Breakfast very good for a 2*, only the orange juice is bad. Hotel manager and team dicreet and nice. We'll certainly be back at the same hotel next time we'll visit Athens.

The Hotel is clean and well maintained even if the structure and furniture appearance is quite old and worn. The position is the real added value of this hotel that is cheap and clean. So if you need a well placed hotel near the acropolis and you don’t particularly care about an all-comfort staying this is the place for you. Breakfast is really poor, I would prefer to don’t have it and have 5€ less for the total rate and than having a better breakfast outside the hotel.

Best area, so near Acropolis and subway very close to hotel. The staff at reception desk is nice and eager to help. Breakfast is poor and cafeteria is too small, that´s the reason we had breakfast just for the first morning and then searched for a better place. Rooms are not very clean, but very confortable. The maid used to smoke in our room while cleaning, which being us non-smokers, was outrageous.

Although modest, this hotel stands out for the optimal position (on the walk to the Acropolis and close to metro, bars, restaurants) and for the price/quality.

Near the Acropole and a "pieton street", Hotel phidias is a very nice place in Athenes. The only problem is the noise of the street in the night because many people from differents party bar makes noise.Happily, its only Saturday and sunday. The manager of this hotel is an excellent person.

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to everything but out of the traffic! Open views, balcony, a simple greek breakfast ans a view of the acropolis, what else do you need when in Athens? Very simple at a bargain price. I will stay there again!

A very basic hotel with not great beds I'll be honest. Apart from that it was very very well located so really ideal for walking around Athens. It sits on the historic promenade so has views of the acropolis and the ancient agora etc. Rooms are small and basic but if you're serious about seeing Athens then you're not in the hotel much anyway eh so does it really matter. Generally great value for money, basic breakfast but fantastically located. Great for the younger travellers, perhaps not so hot for more elderly travellers in terms of room space and public areas etc. A bit noisy at night too due to it being on a main bar/restaurant street.

You can't beat the location. If it weren't for the tall trees in the park across the street, you could see the Acropolis in the distance. The hotel is within a short walk of Thissio metro station and then a bit of a longer walk to the Acropolis. Numerous cafes in the area for late night coffee and games of backgammon. Staff was very accommodating. Made local phone calls for us to confirm ferry departures, arranged for taxi pick up, etc. They also allowed my friend and I to crash in the lobby when our ferry came in at 4:30 am and our room wouldn't be ready until later in the morning. Also allowed us to eat breakfast that day when we hadn't yet spent the night in the hotel. All rooms have a small balcony and view of the pedestrian street below. Rooms are small, but have blackout curtains and are quiet. Mattress was a bit lumpy - but for the price, who cares? We returned to this same hotel after 12 days on an island and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The location is perfect! -Walking distance of city center(Plaka) and Acropolis. -Close of the metro, from/to airport and the Piraeus. The breakfast is simple but for the price is worth. -Air condition Ok. The room style is like 80's but everything is very clear and confortable to stay. The price is cheap regarding the location. I prefered stay in this hotel with 2 stars than a 4 stars at Ommonia. In the first day it proved worth. I saw a couple moving from a hotel from Ommonia to Phidias hotel because the prostitutes and drug dealers. Don't stay at Ommnia.

The location of this hotel can't be beaten in terms of the Acropolis and the other historical sites, and the Plaka area. However, my room was only serviced half of my days there and there was a lot of noise from the other guests.

The room wasnt anything flash, but clean and a good size, with a fantastic location, so for the price it was quite worth it. Staff were very friendly. We only stayed for one night so it was perfectly fine, but would probably not stay for more than 2 nights. We did however have the hotel sign lit up right outside our room all night so there was constantly light coming in which made it hard to sleep. overall though, very good for the price.

This hotel is a great choice for the budget traveler who is traveling alone or with one person. The location is wonderful -- very close to the metro station and walking distance to all of the Plaka. I do not recommend it for those needing a triple room, however. The rooms are clean but very small, even for a double and for a triple they simply move a third temporary bed into a double room. I stayed here with two teenagers and there was no room even for our luggage, much less being able to walk about the room. Luckily we weren't in the room much. The bathroom is also extremely tiny, and the shower definitely not made for the overweight! The beds were very hard, but clean and we slept fine. The air conditioning worked great and the room was surprisingly quiet. I know it sounds like a lot of negatives, but the location does make up for a lot, and the management was helpful and very pleasant.

The location of the hotel is excellent, just in front of the Acropolis and 5 minutes walking to the Metro station Tissio. The staff was very helpful. The price is cheap comparing with other hotels. Obviously is not luxurious, it is very basic, the breakfast a bit poor, but good enough. It has air conditionair and the room and bathroom were clean. I would come back. I would recommend it to everybody that do not mind to stay in a very simple hotel to benefit of good price and excellent location.

This is a great hotel whose location could hardly be better, and its price is very reasonable given that it is within walking distance of the whole of historic Athens. It is a bit noisy at night, because of Athenian night life, but we had no problem whatsoever with that and enjoyed watching the world go by from our balcony. The staff were completely lovely and had a great sense of humour. We hope to come back

We stayed there for 2 nights during our last vacation and had mixed feelings. The room was very small and the bathroom looked like it had not been changed in 30 years. It was also very dirty and we had to clean it before using anything. On the other hand, the location was amazing. Right outside was a big park with a whole bunch of restaurants. The area was pedestrian-only so no cars were allowed through. You could also view the Acropolis on the top of the hill right from the balcony and the walk there was only 10 minutes. It's very easy to get to the airport from the hotel and vice versa with the metro because the stop is only about a 2 minute walk away. I might choose another cleaner hotel very near this one next time.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable- we were within easy walking distance of the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora, and as many cafes and interesting neighborhoods as you could possibly want for a several-day stay in Athens. We had some trouble with the air conditioning and the room was a bit mosquito-friendly for my taste (though that would have been the case almost anywhere in this season, i imagine), but things generally went smoothly. It's not luxurious by a long shot, but it's a good, affordable option in a great area of Athens.

We've stayed at Phidias, and definitely recommend it. For the price you pay is the best you can get!! Very close to the main historical sites and close to the underground station. Close to cheap and good restaurants either. Do not think twice if you want to save money and visit Athens: stay at Phidias!!

A good, central location; very basic rooms, but they're clean and the staff can be helpful. Breakfast is basic but perfectly adequate. The rooms at the back are not necessarily best for those who need absolute silence as they benefit from the music from some late night bars. Overall good value.

It is a good, basic and pretty clean hotel in the center of touristic hullabaloo. The location is excellent and easy to find. From Monastiraki you are at the airport in about 40 minutes (every 30 minutes). All touristic attractions are within walking distance - and you'll love it to walk in the greek sun! Just enjoy it! You may find the hotel a little bit noisy, but think about, whether you may not be part of this noise. So please try to lower your voice, if you arrive at 3 a.m. in the morning. It's the only time at night, where the pedestrian way is pretty quiet. Don't expect a luxurious hotel. It's rather difficult to have a shower without flooding half of the bathroom. Staff is very friendly - even the "young man".

Small room. Bathroom door was a sliding door, and didn't close properly. Tiny shower only (no tub). No shampoo/soap provided. Lots of noise from the very busy street outside, and adjoining rooms. Close to Thissio metro station. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Staff was fluent in English. Good for a place to crash, but a little bit pricey.

The location of this hotel is great: within walking distance of the Acropolis, and subway stations Thissio or Monastiraki. Room comfort was low/average. The shower stall was very small and leaked water into the bathroom. Lighting was very poor, which made it hard to study guide books in the evening. The wireless internet did not work, but there is an internet coffee shop just around the corner.

Very good location (5min walk from the Acropole and from metro station) with clean and spacious rooms; the breakfast was great... but, this is an old hotel, very noisy without telephone or internet connection. I would recommand it for week-end stay for young people that just want to walk a little in the city and visit the Acropole, not for a family or for longer stay. The "old man" at the reception was very helpful, but the "young man" was unfriendly...

Phidias is a great place to stay in Athens! The owners gave us a friendly welcome; the location is simply perfect - very close to metro station and next door to pubs and restauraunts, green parcs across the street, and near archeological sites and the Acropolois in walking distance. Our romm to the back was spacious and rather quiet, the kids' room to the front had a nice view on the parc + lively pedestrian area, you could hear people enjoy the mild evenings. Certainly our favorite place to return to for a city trip to Athens!

This is an old hotel. Don't expect a whole lot in terms of room, but the location can't be beat. It is a 2 minute walk from the Metro and faces the Grand Promenade. We had a small balcony and it was delightful to watch everyone passing by, particularly in the early evening. If it weren't for a Eucalyptus tree you would be able to see the Acropolis. You need only walk 50 yards to get a good view of it. From the hotel, you can walk almost anywhere you might want to go. The staff was friendly and helpful. We spent 4 nights there altogether.

The decoration seems taken from an 80s film, but the staff was always kind. In particular, we remember the night-shift receptionist for his particular friendliness.

This is my 7th time to Athens. From beginning to end the Hotel Phidias proved to be very helpful in answering our questions and in providing a safe, quiet and clean place in which to rest our heads after a long days travel and or sight seeing. Thank you to all and we would stay there again. As a matter of fact we did upon our return from the islands. Cheers,

The hotel was recommended by a dear friend who has stayed there previously. We were meeting her and another friend from the States for a short sightseeing trip. The hotel is conveniently located to the subway and the major sites of Athens. It is on a pedestrian-only street. The rooms and breakfast were adequate. But be sure to ask for a room that does not have plumbing problems. Our toliet did not flush properly, our sink did not drain, and the shower consistently filled with water. The staff are kind and helpful. I would stay again but not in room 305!

L'albergo è situato a thissio, a pochi metri dall'uscita della metro verde e a meno di un km dall'acropoli, in una zona pulita, piena di ristoranti, tranquilla e frequentata da molti giovani. Really nice and cheap hotel, located on a pedestrian street leading to Akropolis. We stayed in a triple room with three singel beds and a balcony, from where we could look at the street and nightlife. The room was small, but for the combination of price and location, it was as we expected. Staff really friendly and breakfast fine. I would recommend it to everyone who wants a hotel to a reasonable price.
