Worth every cent of the €15 I paid for my night here. Basic but clean and welcoming this is clearly a budget hotel - there were Greek couples staying here as well as a few other nationals of various ages. Geographically well-located the aesthetics of the immediate local area are, however, not the best for sure. Nonetheless I didn't feel threatened at all. Some genuine Greek small eateries nearby which adds to the local flavour. Within easy walking distance of main areas and bus stop just about outside the hotel. Some decent TV (multi-language) too.

It is not very far from railway station. location is good. but during the night, there are many dark roads without any lights. The staff told us that after 11pm, we had better not go through those dark roads. He is correct. But, anyway, it is not the problem of the hotel, while of the city.

For 35 EUR per night, and having seen the flimsy shower curtain in the photos, this place was much better than I had expected: the room and sheets were quite clean (including under the bed), and the amenities included a working fridge, ok breakfast (cereal, lunchmeats, nutella, coffee, tea), and free wireless. Downsides: wireless was not reliable and the area really is dodgy -- the red-light district is only a few blocks away and there are lots of groups of men loitering on Acharnon Street; very few women on the street or in nearby cafes after dark. My sis and I are both accustomed to urban blight and knew what to expect and to cope with the conditions, but definitely not an area for corporate or people with kids. (Also, there were times the wifi got real poky or cut out -- not a big deal but better not to try telecommuting from there.) Bathroom is indeed small -- you will get the whole floor wet when you shower -- but that's typical of Middle Eastern budget hotels, in my experience. Staff was quite friendly and helpful overall - there was one tense exchange that could be attributed to language barrier + unusual situation (the clerk was very uneasy about discarding a phone message that had been left for me [I'd resolved the issue via e-mail before he relayed the message], trying to insist that I come fetch the number]), but they handled our other requests just fine (ordering a taxi for the airport, providing a wake-up call, and mailing our postcards).

1st time stay at this hotel. We only needed a one night stop over before heading out to the islands. It was clean and central and the staff were incredibly helpful. Only bad thing I can say is that it was enormously noisy. The fridge kicked in every hour and was really loud - the doors shut with almighty bang so if anyone else goes into their room - everyone knows about it.

We stay in Pergamos hotel for 5 days , I travel togeather with my spouse, we are young couple who whant to value a money and that was the best offer in center area. Soraundings are a little bit noisy, but it did not preven us, because of all day walk tour in beatiful Athens we wear so tired, that in wecoming Pergamos Hotel rooms we just have a nice rest time! Staff was verry helpfuly and friendly. I suggest this hotel if you don't expect some spa or champagne in breakfast :)(by the way breakfast was nice) All popular tourist sights can be reached by walk! Enjoy you stay in Pergamos!

This is our first time to Athens. Hotel Pergamos was excellent. The service is wonderful. We realized upon checkin that we had forgotten a passport at the last hotel. The receptionist helped us to call immediately and arrange for it to be sent that day. Every time we walk in the door they are very welcoming. Breakfast is good, the room is very nice, everything works well. Also it is easy to find from the metro and just a short walk, less than 5 minutes. The area isn't the greatest, but everything else is perfect.

The hotel gives good value for the price. It is very clean and the staff is competent. Espacially the ucranian receptionist Nick (?) is a excellent help to every question. He makes you feel a real guest. breakfast is o.k. with respect to what you get elsewhere sometimes in Grece. Good place for staying during a city trip.

Very bad the hotel surroundings. In the evening and night it is full of adiccts, drunk people and some sexual workers. We didn't have any specific problem, but was really scary to go outside the hotel after de sunset. The employees where nice and collaborative, breakfast was ok, the room so so. If you go to Athens, avoid Omonia Square

This is a good budget hotel. The Good: Wireless was free and worked well, bed was reasonably comfortable, the room was clean, and there was a small patio. Staff was nice and helpful. The Bad: The bathroom was very small, even by European standards, showering without hitting the controls was very difficult, but not the worst thing for a few days in a budget hotel. Also, the walls are very thin and closing the door required somewhat slamming it, so every time someone else came back on your floor, they woke you up closing their door. Bring earplugs. Overall, good value for the price.

The location may be a little colourful at night time but for ease of access to the sights durring the day it was spot on. The hotel is a basic no frills place but what you do get is good quality basic facilities the B/Fast was basic but fine and the WiFi worked great and was free. To top it off they had a small bar on site which was cheap. The staff on the main desk were helpful and were quite happy to look after our luggage (we had just finished a cruise so we had loads of cases and hand carry)for the whole day after we checked out. we will use this hotel again when we return to Athens without hesitation and have passed its details on to some friends already.

Hotel Pergamos is very good value for money. There is nothing luxurious about it but it was clean and comfortable with very helpful friendly staff. The breafast was not very exciting but its free and if you are on a budget you would be perfectly happy with it. Although the metro isn't far away we walked to all the major attractions. I would be happy to stay there again.

Friendly staff. Located in Omonia area and while some may say it is a very dodgy area, we found that every area in athens has something to offer and so did Omonia. Very easy access to the subway, buses and only a walking distance away from Syntagma. Good price. The shower curtains did not come all the way around in the bathroom as other travellers have previously mentioned and this caused the bathroom to be wet but for the price, it proably would be unfair to expect perfectness. Good hotel overall with a well-stocked bar downstairs and in an ideal location in Athens.

As far as cleanliness, employees, facilities, and service, this hotel met all expectations. However, the only BAD thing about this hotel is the LOCATION. The surrounding areas are not so good. When we first got out of the train station which was very clean and new, we had to be very careful just walking on the streets. The streets are a little dirty but we encountered a few drug users and prostitutes nearby the hotel. We did not go out at night as we thought it was too dangerous. We made sure to come back before dark. We did eat at a restaurant the employee recommended which was nearby and it was good. The hotel was great--employees gave great service. He gave us maps and directions to wherever we needed to go. Breakfast was good. The rooms had air conditioning which was great, rooms were clean, television that played American shows. There were 2 computers with high speed internet so guests could use them. Bar in the lobby was inexpensive and very relaxing. There is a restaurant next door that had the BEST gyros in town. I was extremely satisfied with the hotel, price and quality a plus! It is just the surrounding areas that was the downfall.

POSITIVE: the hotel is nice, clean and so the rooms are. The employees are very kind and available 24/24 to provide help for any need. Internet freely available. 5 mins walking from Archaeologic Museum. Competitive price. NEGATIVE: 10 mins of speed walking from Omonia metro. Rooms not 100% silent during the night. Bad entourage, expecially in the evening (many prostitutes, many bad faces in the streets around).

Hotel Pergamos is a very comfortable hotel for the money. The rooms are quite spacious for an urban European hotel. The staff are very welcoming, friendly & English fluent. There are 2 computers in the lobby with free internet access, a nice little bar, and a great rooftop patio with a view of the Acropolis and the entire city. Many rooms have big balconies as well. The one very minor detraction is that the neighborhood is not fantastic and there are no tourist sights immediately nearby and it's a bit of a walk to the subway, but you can also just walk to the Acropolis/Plaka, etc in probably 25 mins or so too. Overall it was very comfortable and a great value, and I'd definitely go back!

I stayed twice at this hotel because I found it to be reasonably priced and the location decent, a short walk from the subway station. I found the internet in the lobby to be very convenient (it had more than one computer, so I didn't have to wait long for other guests to be done), and the staff was friendly.

First stop in pergamos. We hired a triple room. The hotel is clean, the staff is OK, but the area around the hotel and square "Omonia" is extremely dangerous. The returning at night (10-12 p.m.)was a real test for our bravery. Many drug users, prostitutes, criminals and armed police.

Overall I was pleased with the hotel. I only have 2 criticisms. 1. The bed was the most uncomfortable that I have ever slept in (like sleeping on a board), but, if you like hard beds, this is the place for you. 2. The neighborhood was a bit dodgy and I wouldn't recommend it to a female travelling alone (fine in groups though).

My stay here was fantastic! Breakfast was ample, rooms were comfortable. However, people returning to their rooms were noisy;rooms didn't block out noise very well. The area is 5 min. walk to Omonia Sq., the 2nd busiest in Athens. At night there are male and female prostitutes hanging around, but not near the hotel. NOBODY ever bothered me. Would definitely stay here again. Special thanks to the guy behind the desk, Psychie(?) was his name. Competently answered my questions, and his English was great. thanks garrett

If you want a well-run hotel with a great value for the money, this is the place. Within walking distance of the Arch. museum; markets; and the Acropolis. At night, I had the balcony doors open, so there was street noise but otherwise it is a very quiet well run hotel.

OK, so it's cheap and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. But, it is in a pretty grotty part of town - the whole area around Omonia is fairly grim and it's a longer walk to the metro than you might want to make regularly, particularly in the heat of summer. Our room (for 3) was in reality a small room for two with an extra bed, so really very little space, although the bathroom was clean and decent. The room could have done with a picture of two to humanise it. I wouldn't stay again, but if you're on a budget, it might be OK for a night. We actually checked out a day early (after two nights) - not because of the hotel but because, since everything was shut for a public holiday, we chose to get out of Athens. We did not consider staying there on our return to Athens two days later.

This hotel is in THE worst part of athens. We were travelling as a group (3 females) and were told by numerous locals not to go outside our hotel at night in this area as it is so dangerous. The hotel staff were nice and the rooms were basic but clean. We booked a triple room. It was a double room with a fold out bed put at the end of the room. There was hardly any room to put our bags down. The balcony was huge though and the staff were VERY helpful and friendly...

I recommend to stay at Hotel Pergamos. A real good quality vs. price quote. Very good location, 10 minutes walk from the metro station Omonia, very good located in Athens. I stayed 2 times at Hotel Pergamos (before travelling to the Cyclades islands and before flying back home). Booking was for a triple room (3 friends travelling together), the first room we had was really big and with a giant terrasse. My only comment concerns the breakfast that is not so great (specially the orange juice...). Have a nice stay in Athens!!

For the price, this hotel was very nice. A good breakfast was included in the price. Bathrooms were small, but functional, and bed was comfortable. AC worked well. Some noise from hallway, when other guests were loud. Front desk staff were outstandingly helpful, courteous, spoke English well; we didn't ask about other languages. Neighborhood was a bit run-down, but no obvious safety issues. We walked to Central Market and to Monastakiri and Exharia neighborhoods, for great taverna food.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Pergamos end of April early May 2008 and found the front desk staff extremely helpful and accomodating. We have no complaints except the shower was extremely small and water had a tendency to spray all over the floor. Other than this, the rooms were clean and provided us with an enjoyable and inexpensive experience. It was also within a 20 minute walking distance to the Plaka and major metro stations. Free internet access was an added bonus!

We paid for a hotel near the city centre so that we could avoid the hassle of travelling to the various sights as we usually use the public transport.the hotel is well placed for that. the surrounding areas are busy during the day and colourfull at night. we had no problems walking to omonia station even as late as 9pm. there are a few restaurants nearby with fair menu. the rooms are crowded and ours was a double room converted to a triple. it was however on floor 7 and so well above the noice downstairs. there is free internet[which is always occupied] and a fairly well stocked small bar. the bathroom was very crowded and we had a washbasin, shower and toilet in a room 3.5 metres by 1 metre. once you used the shower u had to waddle in a small pool of water to acces the toilet. stefano was helpfull with directions and recomendations. other staff were friendly and warm[ a very greek trait]. i suppose like in any major city one has to compromise between budget and luxury.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Close proximity to the National Archaeological Museum, but at least a 20 minute walk to Plaka and other neighborhoods near the Acropolis. Room didn’t have a balcony as stated and the elevator was loud and could be heard from our room. The bathroom was clean, but very small. The bed was not very comfortable and the blanket of poor quality. There are two computers with Internet access which was helpful. Overall, the quality is reflected in the price.

Hotel OK compared to price. Easy to find, just a few minutes walk from Omonia underground station. Good connections both to Piraeus and the airport. The elevator was narrow, though. Not room for two persons with lugage. If taking a shower, you will find water all over the bathroom floor. Brakfast very basic.Little choice and not fresh bread.

Good experience. No luxury but cleanliness and comfort. Very central so close to any critical point for a tourist. Bad neighbourhood should not impress. To find better areas you should go out of the centre.

This hotel gives good value for money. Clean rooms. There are a sexclub in the area and close to the club, street prostitution. The Omonia plaza is frequented by drug addicts at night. This did NOT cause us any problem. ( Mother 48 and son 18 ) We felt safe when we went home at nighet. The staff is really nice and give you good advice vere to eat and what to visite. Close to Omonia subway. Easy to get to hotel from airport. ( sub all the way )
