Great place in Athens. Funky and worn, but that was fine with us. Elevator is tiny and only takes about 2 people at a time--more of funky Athens and not a problem. The room was fine (quad on 5th floor) and has a great balcony area from which we listened to the protests on Syntagma nightly. AC was adequate, barely keeping up with Athens' July heat. Great location near all major sites. Nice, warm staff, good breakfast. I'd recommend Myrto to anyone and would return.

We only stayed overnight, but our room was nothing like in the pictures. There was a tiny window over a stairwell, the room smelled musty and there was no yoghurt at breakfast ( which is indicated in the pictures) The lock on the door was inadequate to say the least, and the room was actually open when we arrived. Having said that it was actually spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was good, close to Syntagma Station and we found a nice wine bar near by. I suspect we got the worst room because we only stayed overnight.

This hotel is all about location!Right next to the Plaka, Acropolis and Syntagma Square. Was expecting budget hotel and got it. Very hard beds, very dirty and uneven floors and the TV did not work.Daytime front desk help were very friendly but nighttime guy was not. When told about the TV he just shrugged his shoulders.Breakfast was Ok.Stay here only for the location, which was perfect for us.

I have to say the staff (a special thanks to Corina) of this hotel is very nice and extremely helpful. They put me in a room in a lower floor and I asked them if it was possible to change it. The next day they put me in a room at an upper floor with the view of the Acropolis! The rooms and the bathrooms are small but the beds are really comfortable. The location is excellent, it's only 5 minutes walk to the main square and the shopping streets, and 10 minutes of easy walk to the Acropolis. The breakfast was good. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Perfect place for an overnight stay in Athens. Basic hotel, but spacious room - very good location just a few minutes walk from Syntagma, still nice and quiet street. Best breakfast ever in Greece ! Lovely omelette - continously freshly brewed coffe...If I need a place to stay overnight in Athens again - this is it.

We enjoyed 2 nights at Hotel Myrto. The hotel is in a wonderful position in the Plaka area. There are so many restaurants and shops just around the corner. It is also close to the main metro station. The rooms are basic but are very clean and spacious including the bathroom. It was quiet at night. The staff were great - our daughter was arriving and her flight was delayed. We had no contact with her as her phone wasn't working and one of the staff offered to ring the airline for us. They also rang us when she arrived as we were waiting at the train station. And the breakfast was fantastic - good coffee, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, eggs etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Staff were excellent and helpful. Price paid for 2-star hotel is quite expensive but have to also realise that Athens is much more expensive than most parts of Greece but their hospitality makes it worthwhile. Love the location as its so close to the centre of town.

He brought the problems to our attention and helped us overcome them. He was ever-helpful in many ways and very friendly.Recommended as great venue for Athens trip.

I've got a quite simple room, clean and rather spacious, which was actually my need. The price of the offer was very good in relation with the services and the surroundings I was enjoying. This kind of hotel is convenient to travellers who don't want luxury but search for a convenient place to stay. Staff particularly kind, sympathetic and skillfull.

Nice little B&B in a fantastic location, perfectly adequate for our needs, not 5 star luxury but great for 2 star, breakfast is 5 star quality. Rooms include tea/coffee making, also robe and slippers. Rooms a bit dated but clean. Cannot get used to the Greek way of putting toilet paper in the bin and not the toilet, but suppose its because of the old buildings, but you get used to it. Would recommend for a low cost city break.

The Myrto is an ideal hotel for a short stay in Athens. It is very well located - within walking distance of everything you want to see, and buses and underground trains. The breakfast offered is better than most similar classed hotels. The room I has was not large but perfectly adequate. Free Wifi is a big plus.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here (in my previous feedback, I mixed up this property with one on Santorini, sorry for the confusion!). This property is in an ideal location, 3 blocks from Syntagma square, 1 block from the Hard Rock cafe, and easy walking distance to the Acropolis. The rooms are a little tired, but are spacious and on the 2nd night we got a room with a HUGE balcony! Plus a sideview of the acropolis! Staff were friendly and helpful. Great elevator! You have to see it to believe it! Breakfast was great, good selection. Will stay again!

Not my first time in Athens and indeed this is the best option in Athens if you are watching your budget. Excellent relation quality/price for a 2**, in an outstanding location - right in between Syntagma Square (Athens heart)and the beautiful neighborhood of Plaka -that is only steps away from the Acropolis. Very good breakfast and a superb receptionist (Ilias) - we booked more days on the spot to return after a week in Crete and they managed to have a room ready for us (at no extra charge) even if arriving to Pireous at 6am in the morning!! I will certainly stay here again when returning to Athens.

Myrto is very close to the Zyntagma square and Plaka. The people that work there are very kind. They arranged breakfast for us at 6.00 in the morning. They also arranged a taxi, at the right time to get to the boat at Piraeus. I was allowed to use their computer to check in for the return flight.

My 2 young children and I stayed in about 6 hotels/hostels in Greece on this trip and this was one of the best! We had a spacious room (5th floor) with 3 beds and a large balcony. There was a sitting room as well...small but perfect for while the kids were going to sleep. We used the small fridge for milk and other things they'd be missing. The staff was excellent---very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was amazing and paid 9 euros for the dinner and loved it, too. We had an Acropolis view out the corner window (you had to go to the corner and look for it, but it was quite stunning. The location is excellent, central and very safe feeling. We could walk to the Acropolis, children's museum, the big park and Syntagma in minutes. There's a great English bookstore around the corner, too. There were extra, too, like robes and slippers. It's an old place, but with the friendly staff and extra amenities we felt like we were living like kings!

The location of the hotel is excellent. Walking distance to all major attraction i.e. acropolis, parliament, palace, the olympic stadium, national garden, temple of zeus, etc.. The service rendered by Elyas is excellent esp the breakfast. On the 5Dec09, we had an early flight, so we had to check out at 5am, Elyas packed for us some breakfast to go. Thank you Elyas. Elyas also helped us with directions to some of the major attractions. We would recommend other people to stay here in Myrto. Thumbs up.

Based upon our own room this is a very basic hotel. Whilst the room had all the basic requirements (plus 'extras' like a fridge and radio) if you are looking for plush accommodation look elsewhere. However, if you want value for money in a great location with very friendly management and staff you couldn't fo better. You can walk to all the sights from here and there are hosts of bars and restaurants nearby. We were out and about late at night and the area seemed fine.Just 5 minutes from Syntagma Square metro which links direct to the airport. The breakfast buffet - with hot and cold food - was really good considering we were paying only 60 euros a night for 3 people. Management and staff could not have been more helpful - very friendly.

We recently had a wonderful trip to Greece which was enhanced by our stay at the Myrto Hotel. It is very well located - within walking distance of almost everything you wish to see in Athens. The staff were most welcoming. We initially booked for 2 nights but ended up spending 10 days at the hotel with short breaks away doing small tours. When we arrived at 3 am we were met at the door and helped with our luggage up to the room. We were able to leave excess luggage at the hotel while we did our short trips. The rooms were certainly not 5 star but for a 2 star hotel were excellent. Breakfast was included with some home cooking. The staff couldnt have been more pleasant or helpful. During our stay we were in 3 different rooms. The two on the lower floors were very spacious. The room on the 6th floor had a terrace and views but the room, while adequate, was not spacious. We would highly recommend this hotel. It was excellent value for money.

Room, staff, location and breakfast(included) were excellent. Staff were all very helpful with advice on tourism, transport to airport (saving us an expensive taxi by explaining location of airport X25 express bus) - and allowing early breakfast on our last day. The lift is tiny, but saves carrying cases upstairs! Location is good with easy walk into Plaka for sightseeing, shopping, or eating. Close to Sygmata Square, and walking to Acropolis and several of the minor archaeological sites (Hadrian's Arch, Temple of Zeus). The room was much larger than exepected for the price and location. 24 hour reception was good for our early arrival and early departure. Free internet (although we didn't use it here), but helpful staff looked up a couple of items for us about closing times. Local Tip - Don't miss the NEW Acropolis museum which opened July09(for 1EURO), but still go to the OLD Archaeological Museum in town (which stays open until late)!

I felt very welcome in this hotel. Nearby everything, metro line close by. Bathroom clean. The only drawback was that the free wireless internet did not get as far as my room, but I could sit somewhere else in the property. While the room was spacious it is in in urgent need of redecorating and the bathroom in need of modernisation and repair. Hotel in posizione strategica e gestito dall'incredibile Ilias, persona squisita e super disponibile. Purtroppo durante il nostro soggiorno l'ascensore era in corso di sostituzione. The Myrto has an excellent location close to the Plaka district and important communications. The room was alright for one night, simple but clean. The simple room standard was to us largely compensated for by the friendliness and service - mindedness of the owner and staff(service including running after us all the way to the Syntagma square airport bus with forgotten sunglases). The breakfast was also great!

Hotel Myrto was a great location for our visit in Athens. The hotel manager, Ilias, was extremely kind and helpful. We arrived in Athens late at night and he picked us up at the airport himself so that we would not have to pay the double taxi fare. The rooms were fine, nothing extraordinary but the location. Breakfast was superb, enough to eat to get you through to dinner. If I go back to Athens I would stay here again. You can't beat the price nor the kindess of the owner.

The two men in charge were extremely helpful and accomodating. We were able to add an extra person at the last minute, and they helped us deal with several extraneous issues that we had while there. In addition, we enjoyed the best buffet breakfasts of our entire 6 weeks in Europe! The young man who prepares it is a bona fide chef! The location is excellent and from one corner of our large balcony, we were able to see the Acropolis. There is a direct bus to and from the airport from Syntagma Square nearby, so don't get caught paying an exhorbitant price for a taxi!

I can't give 100% for cleanliness because there was mould in the bathroom. The window looked out on the building next door - right next door. There was no deadbolt lock on the door. However the room was a good size and the staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the city. If you are looking for a good location you can't beat the Hotel Myrto for a price vs quality relationship. It really is in the middle of everywhere you want to be.

The breakfast was very simple, not a lot of selection. The staff was quite friendly. Not a nice hotel, i will not recommend it. Too expensive for poor quality.

The Myrto is located in the best part of Athens (I mean, if you are travelling on turistic reasons). The building is very old, and the room is not very confortable, but I would recomend it if you are interested in spending the hole day in the turistc sites, walking around. There is not much confort, but again, it really didn't matter because we were very well treated, the employees are very nice and helpfull, i would totaly come back there.

The hotel was horrible. It is the worst hotel that I have been stayed and the most expensive hotel in relation to the services available. The toilet were dirty. The shower without hot water. The wall on the room with some insects. The carpet on the floor broken. The breakfast without hot milk neither coffee express or filter. There is not greek yogurth, omelettes or different kind of cheese as information said in this web. I went to Florence last year and I also booked my hotel with venere.com but this time It was a disaster. The room in Greek was more expensive that in Florence!! and horrible. I took the realistic fotopraphs (I think you have to see the toilett)that I would like to send to you but now I dont have it yet.

Hotel was not upmarket but served the needs for a few nights. With a little money spent hotel could be OK. On the plus side it was very close to Sytagma Square, Plaka was behind the hotel and the Accropolis was very close.Staff were very friendly and helpfull.

A very clean and cost-effective hotel. Not a lot of frills, but great for the price and very friendly.

Price/Value is unbeatable! Situated in a safe area with a lot of small shops around the hotel and within walking distance to most of the sightseeing areas of Athens. Even the Akropolis could be visited without using the metro (which is also very close to the hotel). Breakfast is for a 2-star South European hotel simply brilliant.
