Hotel Reviews London

United Kingdom, Sep 2009
Having read the other reviews before going, yes we were worried about the noise too. But, please tell me ANYWHERE in Athens where it is quiet! They seem to be driving all day and all night! Anyway, we had a room on the rear side of the hotel and a most perfect view of the sea. Yes, our view from the room and balcony was EXACTLY like the photo. But we had to pay for it! Yes, people in some rooms will overlook the garage. Yes, people in some rooms will overlook the road. But you get what you pay for. The friendliness of the staff was amazing, everything is clean and the breakfast was enough to fill you up for the entire day. (Perhaps some fresh fruit would be nice, that's my only note.) We would certainly go back. The surroundings are just amazing and you can go anywhere by the tram. (Allow 1 hour to reach central Athens). Hope that's been of help.

Convenient in terms of location, but far far too noisy, making it almost impossible to sleep at night.

The Hotel has been very noisy due to Student groups and overnight music in the hotel. The dinner has been also very poor. Same paste every night.

I suggest for the people who are looking for a budget hotel in Gylfada, with a perfect location to Gylfada Square. There's a tram station at the front of the hotel, which makes your transportation easier in the city.

Really one of the best solutions for Athens !!! I recommend it !

The first room I got was along the large road. This one was very noisy. I asked for an other room and got an other room to the side, which was much more quiet. The price remained the same, so this was very good service.

I stood in 2nd floor sea side. It was a very nice stay over five nights. The hotel stuff was very nice and helpful. The front side of the hotel is close to the main street, that's why I changed to a room on sea side which is quiter when you close the windows. It was a very good service, even the towels were changed every day. All kind of breakfast on buffet. All around a very nice atmosphere, low prices and very friendly people. I will stay there again, when I go to Athens.

This is a very nice hotel, with a very friendly staff who always gave very nice advise on things to do in the surroundings, and who was very friendly in general. The area, Glyfada is very nice for beach and shopping! Only drawback is that the hotel is one-hour away from the center by tram. There are trams very often but still I would not recommend to stay in Glyfada if the main purpose of the trip is to visit Athens.

The photos were very misleading - my room was nothing like the images ! Also very noisy as located on a busy 3 lane dual carriageway (this is obviously not mentioned).

Bathroom equiped with a very efficient and big shower (easy 2 persons). 40 mn from center by tram, no shops near hotel. Good place if you want enjoy the sea (5 mn from hotel).

We actually just stayed here one night waiting to drop off somebody to the airport. We took the tram into the historical part of Athens which took a good 45 minutes. In the evening we walked over from the hotel to a carnival area on the beach and that took less than 10 minutes. Nice neighborhood.

Hotel with very good price/quality ratio, nice personnel and rooms. You should however avoid rooms on the street side (very large street, lots of cars at any hour). Be careful, the correct address is not 'Vassileos Georgiou' (former name of the street) but 'Poseidonos Avenue'. Otherwise you may well find yourself a few km away from the hotel...

Almost no Parking space, otherwise honest features and service for the price, very pleasant welcome.

I'm not sure where they took the pictures since you can not see the water from the property and our room was not half as nice as the photo. Big room with large shower. Staff nice. Far from town. I paid for sea view, but only saw trees and gas station and we were on the top floor! Breakfast big, but just ok. Next time I would stay closer in or on an island, but still enjoyed the stay.

The staff were extremely helpful. The hotel could have provided better details on how to get to them on the bus from the airport - it's not as easy as they say! Should also provide local info on the tram, walking to town via the beach rather than the 6 lane road! and local restaurants. Hotel full of school children and, unfortunately, a stag night! Good basic 3 star hotel but looked better in the brochure than in reality especially the lounge/lobby area.

I picked the hotel as it was on the bus route between the airport and the port of Pireas. I chose a room with full sea view paying €10 more thinking that there would be less road noise. This was not the case. Breakfast was not available for any early birds who have to leave at around 06.30 to catch ferries! The Hotel is a good 15 minutes walk from the main shopping area in Glyfada. Here the shopping is excellent.

We only stayed here as an overnight to go to the port for our ferry. It was a fine hotel and they were very helpful when we arrived at midnight and needed to find food (1km up the road is a large shopping area with plenty of restaurants and bars) Decent for the price. It was a bit further from the port than I had originally thought.

To the price of 65 euro for a dobbelroom, this hotel is a good choise if you want to stay in Glyfada,Athens. For this price you cant expect five star deluxe. I will recommend this to others.

The hotel was fairly basic but the staff were friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the location--one block from the beach and a short stroll to the shops and restaurants of Glyfada. The tip on the website about the airport express bus was great--it runs about every 20 minutes or half hour during the day and picks up nearly right in front of the hotel direct to the airport, for only 3.20 euros.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the London Hotel. We had just spent 3 days prior at some so called "fancy" hotel half and hour away. The fancy hotel was 3X the amount and 1/4 the service. The London Hotel service FAR surpassed that of the 5 star hotel. It wasn't fancy, but for the price and the superb customer service, I would DEFINATELY recommend this place. The people that work there made it a pleasure to stay there.

Room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. As the air conditioner didn’t work we had to leave the window open, and it was quite noisy. There are tram and bus stops nearby but the hotel is an isolated area, around 15-20 min walk from the centre of Glyfada, where you can find most of the restaurants, bars and shops. Going to Athens is faster by bus (A2, 30 min) than by tram (number 5, 55 min). Airport is 45 min by express bus X96 (€2.90). Students from the EU do not pay for some archeological attractions in Athens.

Very comfortable, and convenient to go to the airport early. It is not close to the airport, but the bus running 24 h a day is perfect and cheap. The hotel is very close to a highway, but the windows are good enough to keep noise bearable :-) Not worth paying extra money for sea view however, as the sea is rather far away :-(

By car, the hotel can be reached very easily and quickly. Parking in front of the hotel is no problem. The breakfast is Ok (besides the orange juice). The hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

The welcoming by the person at night was very good. Other than that we asked for a sea view room..didn't see the sea, and i wrote an email to change the reservation (2people instead of 3) and it wasn't recorded..We stayed only one night but the room was very comfortable, and good breakfast! Thanks.

The rate quoted is not the rate we paid when we arrived. There are plenty of hotels in the area both luxury and B&B's which are cheaper and more lovely.

Very sad to say but the Hotel and the room and the services that were to be Offered did not reflect what was pubblished on the web site. The room could fit 2 people barely let alone 3 plus a cot. What appeared to be a closet consisted in live electrical wires - not the best for a 16 month toddler. Air conditioning was in the brief entrance and did not manage to cool the room and was turned off by the Hotel centrally. Sat TV = one Italian channel...in the bathroom (which had been redecorated) but they ommited to remove old brass tubes with pointy edges. The Hotel is near the sea but next to a Petrol station on a busy and loud main road. The only thing that must of given it the 4 stars was the electronic key and door handle... Buffet breakfast was enhanced by a smoke filled room of smolking waiters. Surely not a family hotel .. luckily myseld and the 3 children were jet lagged and left the next day... Who gave it even 2 stars ?

The photos showed a swimming pool but this was in the middle of the dining room and not in use. Very convenient for the tram which connected directly but somewhat slowly to the Centre of Athens. The room was fine although the television did not work. The Balcony with sea views was an added bonus, although the close proximity to a six land road made it very noisy. The double glazing and air conditioning made it very quiet and comfortable at night.
