Hotel Lilia - Piraeus, Athens

Very clean, quiet, comfortable hotel. Only complaint is that the telephone# provided was not accurate and it was a difficult location to find, even for the cab driver.

The entrance / reception areas of this hotel are deceptive as they have been refurbished and are quite pleasant. The room though was a bit of a timewarp - very dated and tatty. Thick brown carpet for some reason, along with heavy dark curtains - not good in the heat in Piraeus. The bed was not uncomfortable but had nasty polyester mix sheets. The shower did not attach to the wall so you had to hold it over yourself. The usual cup of Nescafe for breakfast - foul. Nice little cakes though to go with it. However, this hotel is in a great location, just up a tiny little side street near Zea marina. It was very quiet at night, apart from the hotel shuttle bus ferrying people down to the port. This shuttle would also have been very handy, if we had needed to use it. As it was, a taxi from the port to the hotel was just 5 euros. The owners were very friendly. Lilia is not bad as long as you are just using it as a place to crash for one night on your way to somewhere nicer. But although it is cheap it is not particularly good value and next time I would rather spend 30 or 40 euros more and stay somewhere much nicer.

A good value, overall. Keep in mind that, while the water is 1 minute away from the hotel, your actual point of deparure on the port may be quite far for walking (30 min walk or more). They do provide a free shuttle, at least from hotel to port (don't know about the other way). The nearby metro (subway/underground) station is relatively far for walking (near 30 min). The hotel street is small, and relatively hard to find. The area seems decent, and generally safe for walking at night (at least from a man's point of view).

1) Innanzitutto si dovrebbe dire che l'hotel in questione non e' al Pireo, ma si trova a Zea. Non raggiungibile a piedi con bagagli. 2) Secondariamente il gestore al momento del check out ha candidamente detto che aveva gia' detratto il costo della camera dalla carta di credito, mentre il sito afferma che la carta di credito rimane una garanzia fino al pagamento sul posto! Per il resto l'hotel e' accogliente e pulito. Ciao

Piraeus is a difficult place to find a reasonable hotel for the night. Lilia was simple but fine. The complementary service to the port in the morning was a huge plus. We would return.

The hotel was not as close to the port as i thought because we walked with our bags up hill. but once there the hotel was clean and the staff frendly. I have had better breakfasts but only a small point overall a very nice hotel
