Ok for overnight stop to catch early morning ferry. Only 15 minutes walk to terminal. Room was small but clean and adequate. We requested and were allocated a non smoking room however the bedroom smelled heavily of cigarette smoke.

I only stayed one night arriving from the islands to catch an early flight back home but I was disappointed to find stains on the sheets. Besides the directions to find the hotel were confusing and in that part of the town there are no street names; not to mention the shady "bars" in front of the property

Pas facile à trouver malgré les indications... et de plus tout en cotes... Quartier glauque et sale, pas un seul resto potable alentour. Pour le prix y a surement mieux, bien que la prestation soit fidèle à ce qui était annoncé.

Only stayed here one night before going to the islands. Good hotel for this purpose. Very welcoming reception and helpful advice even though we arrived late at night. Not a brilliant area of the city but that didn't matter because we were only staying one night. Quiet room. I would recommend it as a low cost one night option.

For 55 Euros per day rate, Ideal Hotel gave us a fair quality. The room was small but quite clean. It was very close to the Piraeus Port, though, very far away from the city attractions. It took us to walk 20 minutes, every day, to the Subway Train Station and another 30 minutes in the train to reach to the city attractions(Plaka, Acropolis, Syntagma, Monastiraki). The information office people were quite friendly comparing to other european countries. The lady in the office helped us find the best island to travel and we appreciated that. In brief, if you want to be close to the port (with subway train you can reach to the port in 30 minutes from the city, so no need for it)Ideal Hotel is quite fair with its price/quality.

The hotel is far from the nearest train station (15 min walking). It´s next to some pubs and discos open until 7 am, so the chance to rest quietly is almost impossible.

The room was basic, but very clean and quiet. The desk attendants were kind and courteous and spoke English very well. The only thing I was surprised with was an extra charge for using the phone in my room for local calls, but it did not add up to that much.

Honest 2 star hotel within walking distance of cruise ships.Hotel reception extremly helpful, beds comfortable, aircon. good.Breakfast was not to our taste, many cafe's within 100m,with better choice. Arrived very early for night after cruise, & room ready by 9.30. recommend for pre & post cruise.

This hotel is located close to Pireas port, and as such is convenient for early morning ferry departures or late night arrivals. However, the directions from the port to the hotel as given on Venere is very misleading. The area is very dodgy at night and we walked down a few very badly lit streets to get to the hotel. We weren't the only people who got lost - the receptionist was on the phone explaining to someone else how to find the hotel when we got there. If you stay here - get a taxi to and from the port! It will probably be less than 5 euro and it's worth it! The room was clean and comfortable, but suitable for a short stay only, and as a base to catch a ferry, not to explore Athens.

Considering it is in Piraeus, reasonably quiet. Noise generated only because Greece were playing at Euro2008! For a one-night stop-over it is a good choice.

A bit too far from the metro station and to the ferries going to most of the islands. Clean and new rooms and bathrooms. Nice staff. Ideal if you plan to get a boat the next day, not for a long stay.

We've chosen this hotel because it is located near the ferry terminals. We had to catch the ferry quite early and so the hotel was perfect to spend the night. +++ We paid 60 Euros for the night, which was ok (relation between price/quality). --- The description how to get to the hotel should be better

This was excellent value for the money and right next to the port, where we needed to be. Fantastic lobby and cheap beer, ideal for relaxation. A problem was that were ants in the room, but there were not enough to spoil our stay. Breakfast was not included either

Not in a very safe/friendly area, map directions were incredibly confusing, hotel staff was not helpful, and the port exit is more than a 15 minute walk which is not so great when you have luggage. However, the price was worth it.

10 minutes walk from main boats to the islands, so very practical. We haven't had breakfast at the hotel. The room was tiny but well equiped, no view at all. Friendly check in, quick check out. To be recommanded on your way to the islands.

The map and instructions did not really clearly explain how to walk to the hotel very well and the area north of the hotel is undesireable for walking (no decent sidewalks and somewhat disreputable) so people should only walk to the hotel on the main road and turn up a street south of the hotel to avoid this part of Notara street.

We have stayed here on two occasions. The first time there was no noise but the second there was repair work being done nearby. This only was a minor irritant. Although it is in Piraeus it is in a quiet backstreet with regard to traffic noise. The hotel was of a good standard for it's type but probably should onlybe used for no more than a 2 or 3 days as the rooms are on the small side. 10 minutes walking distance from port, and Metro. We will use again.

This hotel is kind of far away from everything. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the metro and the port. Also, it is in a pretty seedy area. According to the front desk, the bars on the street were quite sketchy and frequented by prostitutes and their clients. That being said, the hotel itself was very nice: quiet, clean, spacious. Our room had a HUGE patio/balcony as well as air conditioning. Although the surroundings were less than desirable, we never felt uneasy about walking from the metro to the hotel at night. Overall we were satisfied with the hotel and its proximity to the port is great if you have an early ferry to catch like we did.

This is a very basic hotel at a basic price. It is close to the ferry terminal - which is good for those early morning ferry trips to the islands. The port neighbourhood seems a little dodgey. Not sure that I would stay there if I was a single female.

I must say that the overall review is good. The employees were very helpful and gave some advice about how to visit the city and the possible problems that I might have arisen.... The city of Pireas isn't great in itself, but it's quite colorful. If I were to return to Athens I'd probably book a room again. The only drawback is that it takes about 40 mins by bus to go to center city....but at the same time, you get to see the real greeks :)
