At the reception desk it is possible to make different kinds of bookings, from airport transfers to reservations for restaurants, museums, guided tours and much more.

Not only staff was extremaly helpfull at everyday service, but they went beyong their regular duties. We forgot a few items from the closet (including expensive MP3 player). They organised delivery of these items to Athens airport, where we had connecting flight from Rhodes to Oslo. We are extremly grateful and we would recommend their hotel to anyone staying in Athens.

Good location. Pratically many places of interest (museums, monuments, parks, old town markets, ecc.)are conveniently near.Warm welcoming, prompt solution to any little inconvenience which may occur, discrete assistance and wise suggestions to guests in their city and surroundings walkabouts. Satisfied and grateful,we recommend Economy Hotel to anyone, young or not, who want to spent a confortable, enjoyable "séjour" in Athens.

For people looking for an inexpensive place to stay near the major historical sights, the Economy Hotel is a good choice. The area around the Omonoia metro station, where one arrives if coming by public transit from the airport, is a bit seedy, but the neighborhood immediately around the hotel isn't too bad. My single room was small but clean, and breakfast was standard but decent fare. The staff were very helpful and spoke good Enlgish; in fact, there were quite a few English-speaking people at the hotel during my visit. All in all, the Economy Hotel is a good budget choice.

Hotel is perfect for adult budget travellers. Good substantial breakfast, very clean rooms, professional reception desk service. Unfortunately for this hotel, location is not very good. Although central, it is too close to the city's dangerous areas. Don't recommend this hotel for families with children and single female travellers - sex video store near the hotel, homeless, drug users and the kind are around at night. May be quite noisy from the street - motorbikes and music from the bars and restaurants. Balconies had second thick solid doors (without a glass), which together with the background sound of a/c worked good to diminish the noise.

Went to Athens for vacation. A total of 3 women traveling alone. We had checked out numerous hotels and decided on The Economy Hotel due to location and price. We knew the shower would be small and they weren't kidding! The shower did get to me after awhile. The picture of the room was a little misleading. The picture had 3 twins next to each other but when we got there, it had 2 twins and they had changed the couch to another bed. We would definitely go back. Conveniently located and we were not nervous of where it was located.

The guys at the front desk speak english well and give you any information, maps you need. Rooms are what was expected for the price, and they have air con, a fridge and iron!! Very good.

This was our first time in Athens and at this hotel, but we would definitely go back to the same hotel if back to Athens. The location was great, we could walk everywhere, the staff was always friendly and helpful, and, though the surroundings were not very good we never had the slightest problem and there's no problem at the main entrance. And the price is great.

The relationship between price/quality was excellent. If you require a low cost room for a weekend getaway then is ideal. The hotel exterior is by no means the best looking. But as you come into the reception area the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. Was spacious enough for our needs. On the whole I would definately return as the value for your money is outstanding!

good hotel for 2 stars, loud neighbours lowered our rating for this place since walls were quite thin. walking through the parliment grounds avoids grungy side streets. lots of great markets...fish, fresh produce, nuts and sweets. walking distance to acropolis, great flea market shopping and plaka. on sundays acropolis is free so definetly worth waiting for this. Non-smoking breakfast/dining room would have been appreciated, since everyone and their cat smoke in this city and it was impossible to get away from it (even in our 'non-smoking' floor people were smoking). Cab drivers are a bit strange...would not pick us up once we told them that we wanted to go to the acropolis (don't know why). They seem to carry their families in the cabs with themselves and dump them on the street when they have a fare. The 5th cab we stopped finally agreed but he tried to rip us off once we had to pay, but the hotel warned us that it should only cost 10 euro, not 20, so he couldn't argue with us in the end. good hotel, appreciated the free internet and the helpful guy that worked the front dest during the day!

HOtel ECONOMY is situated in Klisthenous street,5 near Omonia Place, Athens. That localization is very interesting for access to the most important monuments and to the other sites to see in Athens. The price applicated for to stay in this hotel are cheap in confront to other hotel in those sides €42 for single room and €54 for double room, but the services are poor. The receptionists are cold people and the breakfast is very poor

On the map, things looked far from the hotel but once one gets walking & oriented, the hotel location is close to every major attraction & is within 15-25 minutes walking distant & if needed metro stop is 10 minutes away. Hotel is off major street & easy to find, but one block back from the pedestrian & traffic noise. The room we stayed in was very clean & quiet. The bed mattress however was very hard. The 2 gentle man at the desks were very helpful as to directions to all major attractions. The restaurant they recommended was inexpensive but was so-so & would not recommend. Pay a little more & eat elsewhere (a lot of choices in Plaka Sq.) We stayed in Athens for 2 nights at another hotel & chose Economy because the other hotel was not available for the 3rd night One cannot beat the location & value which included continental breakfast & internet access. We would definitely stay here again & would recommend Economy to others.

The clue's in the name, so don't expect too much, but it does represent good value for money compared with other Athens hotels in this central location. Effective, but noisy, air conditioning. Very helpful staff on the front desk who were able to give reliable information during a disruptive transport strike.
USA, Oct 2008
OK, to start with...Easiest way to get to the hotel from Airport is the M3 metro train to Monastriraki station, walk up (in Greece everything seems to be up) Athines Ave, left onto Sofokeous (I think), and right at the "Fresh Hotel". The X95 bus drops you at Syntagama square and walk is longer. From Kifissou bus station take the 051 bus to Omonina station and walk. Little map they give is fine from there. (Taxi's are a rip off in Athens...my advice stick to public transportation in the city if you can) As to the hotel and surroundings...Room is fine we had the double twin beds. We thought they were hard initially, but they were actually one of the softest of the hotels we stayed in. Bathroom is small but functional. Front desk staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast is the same everyday, toast, coffee, cereal, yogurt etc. but, hey it's breakfast! The area isn't real pretty near the hotel but being 2 single girls from the LA suburbs, we felt perfectly OK when we stayed to Athines and the front streets of the hotel. Behind the hotel a few blocks and farther down is a whole different thing. Not recommended unless you're looking for trouble. We didn't have any problems but it was somewhat disturbing. The Hotel is really in the best possible location, because you can walk to everything if you want/can - FYI all sights basically are up hills or stairs, the main lines of public transportation are really quite close. I do not recommend you rent a car in Athens because even being from LA, driving there is crazy! No parking anywhere! Driving in the countryside also not for the faint at heart but do-able. All around Monastriaki area are flea market type shops with the pedestrian walkway going clear into the Plaka area. Acropolis you can see (if you're looking) from Monastriaki Station and Athinas. They are doing some contsruction on the "Square" there though so on your way from the hotel to the Acropolis you'll have to walk around

Athens seems and is a big city, but from this hotel it takes max 2 days to see all highlights from Lonely planet. And you hav`t to rush.

The hotel is on a small street behind the Athens City Hall, just a few easy blocks to the Placka and the Acropolis above it. A short walk to all modes of transportation. The district is a very bustling area with many small shops, primarily food, spices, hardware, and a couple of pet stores. The staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English, and were very helpful. They explained how to get to a self-service laundry and how to take the local bus to Delphi. Athens was very hot and dusty in June so the air conditioning in the room was a relief. Internet access was two computers in the breakfast room - no wireless. A great place for the slightly more adventuresome travelers. BTW, the sex-shop downstairs mentioned in a previous review is closed but there is a XXX movie across the street (yes, next to city hall, politicians are the same everywhere).

would recommend walking to Monastiraki metro line 3 if coming or going to airport. A transfer to line one to get off at the Omonia station puts you on a train and a station more crowded and likely to get pick-pocketed, my purse was unzipped during this short ride. And it is a better section of the area to walk to since cabs will not give you such a short ride. We didn't have a street noise problem since we were on the 5th floor but the walls are thin. Employees very friendly and helpful with area information and packing a breakfast for early departure.

I stayed three nights in two different rooms. The first one, at the back of the building, was quieter and notably smaller and the beds could have been more comfortable. For my second stay, I got a room in front of the building that was bigger, with much more comfortable beds, but it was noisier. Breakfast room is a bit sad and looks more like a cafeteria than like a nice restaurant. Anyway, the staff of the hotel is very friendly and really helpful and there is a very convenient internet connection too. The surroundings of the hotel are more or less the red light district of Athens (the hotel faces a sex shop and... an elegant design hotel ! and you may well meet some prostitutes at night in the streets nearby), but it is safe and very close to Plaka (just a ten minute walk) and the Acropolis (a 15 minute walk), so the location is great anyway. As given the cheap price, Economy hotel is good value, even if it could become notably better with a bit of renovations.

I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends. My husband and I stayed here during the first few days of our honeymoon, and the hotel was a few blocks away from the Omoni Square metro stop. Although there is a nudie movie theatre across the street, the surroundings felt very safe, even at night. The hotel was very close to a pediestrian corridor that ran right into the Acropolis. This was a great base for exploring all of the main sites in Athens on foot. The hotel staff was very attentive, nice, helpful, and they even gave us a bottle of champaign and upgraded our room for free!!

The hotel Economy was excellent for my purpose, five nights in Athens. It was in the city centre, took me 5 min to walk to Monastiraki, and then you're almost at Acropolis. The staff was very nice and helpful, I had to leave very early in the morning, and then they had packed me breakfast. I would recommend this hotel. The only negative thing was that there were prostitutes just around the corner, but I only saw them late at night. Felt safe in the area anyway. Straight across the road from the hotel was this huge warehouse with interior design (Notos Home).

Very nice hotel, was alot nicer than we expected. they should update their photos to nicer ones on their website! Was very clean, in a very good central, safe location by city hall. Rooms were spacious nice bathrooms, good air conditioning. Had free internet 24hours. Staff at front desk were very helpful, knew anything we asked and could direct you anywhere.. also provides guests with maps and explains the sites. Was only there for two nights did not get up early enough for the breakfast, we did however have a very early morning flight out of athens before their breafast started and they packed us some juice sandwiches and cake to take along with us which was very much appreciated. Had gone up on their roof top, was very nice with nice tables and flowers. Overall very good hotel for value would recommend to anyone.

Central location, all the sites are within easy walking distance and the metro stop for the airport is only 5 mins away. Hotel itself, value for money, helpful front desk and a nice touch is being able to purchase drinks in the foyer on those hot days! Only advice is to avoid the area behind the hotel after dark, whilst safe, its certainly shows the seedier side to Athens. Overall I would recommend the hotel as a place to stay.

We were very pleased with the hotel in terms of price, service, and cleanliness. We did get what we paid for in terms of location and comfort. The room was relatively spacious and very clean, but the bed was not comfortable and the chairs were not meant for hanging out in. The water pressure was intermittent. Usually at least once per shower, there was a period of no water for a few seconds. The location was good and central and we were able to walk to all the sights with ease. However, the neighbourhood was a little shady. There were several fires set to piles of garbage down the end of the block while we were there, and the riot police had a constant presence up on Athina. We really only felt unsafe one evening when passed by a guy on his way to a fight (armed with broken bottle and metal bar). He had no interest in us, but it was a little unnerving. However, if budget is a consideration and you are willing to make some tradeoffs, this can be an excellent choice.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. The staff were always friendly and upon arrival the guy on reception supplied us with a handy pocket size map, and spends a couple of minutes talking us through some of the key things we could do and see during our stay. The location was great, with everything within easy walking distance – the only time we had to use the metro was to get to the airport. The area around the hotel was buzzing with activity during the day and felt perfectly safe day and night. The nearby restaurants and bars in Psirri and Monastikaki offer some fantastic local cuisine at great prices. The room was clean and supplied with fresh towels daily. Breakfast was free, if a bit basic (cereal, bread, ham, cheese, jams and cake). Overall I’d recommend the hotel and happily stay there again.

Our party occupied 2 double rooms on the 5th and 8th floors, facing the front overlooking City Hall and Kotzia Square. I stayed for one night each on my way to & back from Patras and had a single room and a twin room each time. I had an overall pleasant stay both times with no complaints except maybe the twin room was a bit small with a tiny shower and a bad view. The single room however was on the top floor with a balcony so the view was quite good and it had a bath/shower which was much better. The breakfast was good, the employees were friendly & very helpful and spoke English well and the free internet was a bonus. It is centrally located within walking distance of the Acropolis, museum, train station etc. & basically all the buzz! It suited my needs just well, which was a place to rest after a jam-packed day of walking around sight-seeing.

We stayed again one night(coming back from the Greek islands) and were very satisfied. Friendly welcome. Very central, between Monastiraki (direct train to the airport) and Omonia. To Plaka 10 mins walk. We got non-smoker-room and with closed windows quiet.

Hotel location between two subway stops is excellent for seeing all of the sites in Athens. Took subway direct from airport to nearest stop for very reasonable price. While the hotel itself is excellent, it is bordered on either side by sex shops; however, they were not a problem, only a curiosity. The hotel is located just behind city hall and a delightful open plaza. Within easy walking distance of the Agora, Roman Forum, Fish Market, Archaeological Museum and the Flea Market. Would highly recommend this hotel for its price, location, cleanliness and service.

I would not return to this property. The location was not great (not safe after dark) and the bathroom shower was very hard to use. The shower was too small and not a good set up, the floor became very wet with standing water each time we used it.

(commentaire en français en bas de la page) The hotel is good located. Near the market place, meat, fishes. Fruits, vegetables, spices, cheese nearby. Many little local shops in the street behind the hotel, and Psiri just in the neighborhoud. If you cross Athena avenue, you'll find many shops, not expensive, with clothes and shoes. We do love Greece becaus it's pretty and nice !!

The hotel has a a/c blower that has a constant hum throughout the hotel. So, there is never any silence, even when sleeping. The area is adjacent to a very very economically depressed area. So, it could be dangerous. We walked into a riot with policemen activity when we got lost nearby.

Loved this place. Don't be put off by the name. The hotel is of a high standard and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Rooms are good size and nicely decorated and clean. Good air conditioning. The neighbourhood is colouful and there are some cool bars within easy walking distance. The old town isn't too far away either.

In our room at night the WC was making very loud and ugly noise, we thought it was mouse:) The overal impression is ok but looks slightly overpriced for that kind of hotel.

The hotel is in a superb location close to all the historical sites as well as the great nightlife of Psyrri and Monastiraki. The buffet breakfast was good, and the staff some of the most friendly and helpful that I have encountered in a hotel. The area that others have mentioned with prostitutes is not at all intimidating and is easily avoided anyway. Overall, excellent value for money and would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our days at the economy hotel very much. It's a very nice and clean hotel. The rooms are very clean, elegant and tasteful. It was a pity, that it was very loud in the nights, but this has not been a problem of the hotel, than of the guests. Some people in the hotel have been very loud. Staying in the 8th floor was very good, because we couldn't hear traffic at all. Breakfast was very delicious and much. Employees have been really very very nice and pleasent. The hotel is located really good. You are in Plaka in about 10 minutes walking. We really enjoyed everything. We can recommand this hotel!!

We stayed in Hotel Economy twice. Once at the start of our island hopping trip and once at the end. The hotel was very clean and had everything you would expect from a hotel in this price bracket. We even had a great view of Lycabettus Hill from our first balcony on the 8th floor. We arrived late at night and found it easy to find from Omonia or even better Monstiraki Metro stops. It does have a few Sex Shops close by, but this doesn't seem to make the area any worse. Athens can be quite daunting for the first time and I personally found the area fine and very very central to everything. The breakfast was also good, apart from the Orange Juice. A big thumbs up from me!!

Excellent value for money hotel in strategic location. Close to both Omonia and Monastiraki metro stations. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Since we were catching the early bus to the Sporades and could not have the morning breakfast, we were given a breakfast pack each on departure. Very nice touch. Recommended.

The hotel is situated in the center of Athens and is provided of a easy and quick connection with the most important city's attractions. Clean and quite confortable rooms. The staff is friendly and professional. Good relationship between price/quality. Unfortunately the hotel sorroundings are disagreable due to a lot of homeless, drunks and whores.

This hotel was a wonderful surprise. We only paid €65 for one night, so we weren't expecting much (it was our last day in Greece). The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were immaculate, especially the bathroom!! More than enough space! Buffet breakfast was good. They had free internet, and a giant flat screen with satellite in the public area. It is a short walk to Monastiraki, which in my opinion is better than Plaka!! Also about 10 - 15mins walk to the acropolis and surrounding historic sites. Also very close to Omonia Metro, and Syntagma!! Definitely value for money!! If we ever go back to Athens, we will definitely stay here!!

A perfect choice in Athens! Centrally located, in front of the City Hall at a spacious square and at a very short walk distance to the arqueological musts. Excellent staff always ready to solve any question and providing useful tips about Athens. Good rooms, quite and spacious.

We received a friendly welcome. We only stayed here for one night before departing for the islands - we had to check out at 6am, which was to early for breakfast, but we were offered a breakfast pack for the next morning, which we could take away with us - a very nice touch. The price was excellent compared to other hotels in Athens and for the price, this was a very good hotel.

This hotel was a good value for the price. The employees at the front desk provided helpful, accurate information concerning transportation, tourist sites, etc. I have no complaints about the hotel itself. However, due to flight delays I arrived at the hotel very late, and there were groups of prostitutes not far from the hotel, and a sex video/theater across the street. In other words, the hotel is not in the best neighborhood. I had no difficulties during daylight hours at all.

Nice hotel perfectly located in Athens. The Acropolis and all the things to see in Athens are just 15 min walking distance. People at the reception desk are very friendly and willing to give you all the information you need about public transportation or touristic highlights in Athens. The room was clean and spacious, perfect for a 2 nights stay. We were just unlucky to have very noisy neighbors.

I stayed only one night in the Economy Hotel but found it very pleasant and will certainly return also for a longer stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they gave me exact information and advice for my trip to the airport (even when to get up...). It was even possible to get a breakfast long before the normal breakfast times.
