Great location. View the Parthenon from the roof.

Stayed here for a long weekend to attend my friend's wedding. The location is very convenient, in the heart of Psyrri (great cafes and nightlife) and very close to the central market, and the Roman ruins and fleamarkets in Plaka. My room itself was clean and cosy, and had a balcony - facing onto the main road, but nonetheless pleasant in the Greek spring sunshine. If there was no balcony I would rate this hotel as average value only. Another notable feature is the roof terrace - this has a most beautiful view of the Acropolis at night. My only major complaint about the hotel was not so much a fault of the hotel itself, but of the roadworks that were going on below in the main road - one section of the road hadn't been paved and was covered by a thick steel board. At night when cars drove very fast over the board, there would always be a thump (which woke me up a few times). However this was in spring 2007, so hopefully things have been fixed by now. Finally a minor niggle - the coffee at breakfast tasted like it had been diluted with radioactive water. Not dealbreaking but one would just think that a *Greek* hotel would know their coffee. Save yourself the misery and find any cafe in Psyrri for breakfast, you'll be happy.

I really enjoyed staying there. The hotel is perfectly located close to the Akropol & shopping area and 300m from tube station. The room was quite pleasant, and I liked the breakfasts. Highly recommended for backpackers.

I've stayed at the Cecil 3 times in the last 3 years and each time has been very pleasant. The rates are very competitive and the location is hard to beat. Within a short distance from the Metro, the Plaka, historical sites and many useful services the Cecil is an excellent choice. Additionally, the rooms are clean, the included breakfast is a bonus and the I have no complaints about the service.

On a busy street with a lot of traffic. Convenient location for sightseeing. It seemed a bit tired and needs some renovations and repairs. Lobby is practically non-existent. Breakfast typical for Greece in a pleasant room. Room was quite small but the bed was comfortable. Bird cage elevator. Not nearly as nice or as good a value as the nearby Hotel Attalos that we stayed at three weeks earlier.

Hotel was clean; staff were great with information and directions. Breakfast was terriffic. There was a problem checking out: we left at 2 am; tried to check out early in the evening and couldn't. The night clerk was a VERY elderly gentleman who had lots of trouble with the credit card machine. We were worried we would miss our plane connection but we finally got the transaction completed.

Have recommended hotel to others. It is in very convenient location although on a very busy road. If you are fununate enough to get a room away from the front it is very quiet. Staff are friendly and very helpful - it is only the language barrier that can cause a problem with some.

Hotel was close to the Monastiraki Metro station and not a far to Plaka and Syntagma Square. The roof offers a clear view of the Acropolis which was very pretty at night.

The rooms are small but clean and comfortable, and correspond to the web site pictures. The location is 2 minutes walk from Monastiraki metro station and 10 minutes walk from Akropolis. The area is central and safe. Breakfast is basic but good. Very good value for the price offered.

Clean rooms although small, but sufficient for a single traveller or a couple on a short stay. Excellant location, close to the nightlife and historical part of Athens, without any external noise etc... Breakfast was the usual fayre of ham and cheese. I would use the same hotel again when I return to Athens...
