Hotel has a very small, narrow lobby and there are 2 slow elevators. Some tour groups stay here, so it can get crowded. There is a nice roof-top bar with wine for 2 euros a glass. It has a nice view of the southern end of Athens. The neighborhood has alot of character and is close to the market area. Hotel is also very close to Monastiraki metro stop (with trains direct to airport), if it is not on strike! There are many good restaurants in the area. TV in hotel room had alot of channels, including several in English.

The location is excellent as it is near the metro so easy to find when we first arrived from the airport. Staff were helpful and competent. The hotel is on the edge of the old city, so handy to walk everywhere to the sights. There is plenty of local color with street markets etc on this street. very convenient , would recommend.

We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Attalos. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Staff was always willing to assist. Check in and out was very easy. The hotel is well located for easy walking and is close to the Monastaraki Metro Station. My wife and I both enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend the hotel to anyone.

The front desk was not very friendly. The location was good. The rooftop view of the Acropolis was beautiful. The hotel is good for a short stay. The prices are very reasonable.

The room we stayed in was clean and the size was to be expected. Enough room to come home, go to bed, get up and get going which was all we wanted. The bathroom was pretty small and the toilet was crammed in on an angle making, but overall the room was ok. The complementary nuts and drink had obviously been there for a while - the paper doilie hadn't been changed after other clients because there were crumbs and water marks on it. The breakfast wasn't included but was fairly good nevertheless. The best things about the hotel was that we had a great view of the Acropolis from our balcony and at night when it was all lit up it was pretty cool. Also, the towels smelled like turkish delight / roses!! Really beautiful.

Great location, nice and friendly staff. I loved the roof patio, never seemed over populated by people either. always space for you up there. Nice rooftop bar where you can watch the acropolis while having the beverage of your choice. I would definitely recommend this place.

We were staying here for 1 night when we heard of flight suspensions due to the volcanic cloud. The receptionist was very sympathetic and enabled us to get a room for a further night. He was also helpful in locating a chemist. The triple rooms were in fact double rooms with a sofa bed, which made them very tiny. We couldn't all open our suitcases at the same time! They would have been fine for just 2 people. The bathrooms were clean. It was too noisy facing the main road to have the window open. Breakfast was plentiful though not exciting - OK for 8 euro. The free internet was invaluable in finding out information. The location of this hotel is very convenient. You can sit on the terrace with a view of the Acropolis without being pressured to buy drinks

The position of this hotel is excellent, being a short walk to Monastiraki train station with a direct line to the international airport (runs every hour & half-hour and takes approx. 45 mins)The views of the Acropolis from the roof-top garden & bar are magnificent. We had a room at the front with a balcony & the same view! The use of computers & free internet is a fabulous bonus. The hotel itself is very outdated & ordinary, the lifts noisey and breakfast is not included. But Hotel Attalos is a good budget hotel unless you are expecting something fancy.

Transfere from the airport to the hotel was very easy. The metro stop was about 100 ft. from the hotel door. The staff very nice. The room was a bit noisy at night due to multiple parties in the area, but the greeks just enjoy life. most attractions are within walking distance or metro. I would stay there again.

Attalos is right in the middle of Central Athens, which is both good and bad. Very hectic, some minor noise (although our hotel room was surprisingly quiet), but close to everything, and very easy to get to on public transit. The hotel was fairly standard, but has an amazing rooftop terrace and bar with a stunning view of the Acropolis. The staff were wonderful...we had a medical emergency and they looked up which hospital to go to, called the cab, and gave the cab directions on our behalf. Due to the medical issue, we missed out on several sites, and will stay here again when we return to see what we missed.

The staff were great. Very helpful! We were caught in a pinch with our travel plans and they went beyond our expectations to help. They also stored our luggage as we traveled to the islands. This hotel was a great base to have in Athens —I recommend it highly!

Everyone rates this hotel as tops in its class, and I agree. It's just off Monastakiri square, which means just two blocks to the entrance to the Plaka - walking distance to most historic sites. Free WIFI and fiendly service. The only problem is that you really have to choose between meat patry stalls and tourist restaurants unless you have transport, and the hotel just directs you to the square; with careful research of guidebooks, you CAN find places that are not the standard mediocre tourist fare. But it would be nice if the hotel provided you with a bit more info on this.

We (me, my wife and kids 7 and 4 years old) stayed in Athens only for one night after our holiday. Some locals (taxi drivers) say what the area is not save, but I believe it is fine. You are in the old town of very big city, and like always some caution is needed, but I believe the area is OK. The fact what everywhere is so close is great, and view on Acropolis from roof cafe is superb.

I shouldn't tell people how good this hotel is because they'll just raise the rates. The location is as good as you can get, the breakfast is first class, the vieew from the rooftop garden is as adertised, and the rooms are a bargain for the price.

Hotel Attalos is only a short walk from the Metro, which you can easily & cheaply take to & from the airport. No taxis needed! We stayed there on three separate occasions - everything was more than satisfactory. When my husband became ill on our last stay, the staff went out of their way to help. It's a bargain.
